11 GR 2 Oracle home path

Hello

It is a matter of design rather than a technical problem.

With Oracle OFA paper [http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e17162/appendix_ofa.htm#BABHAIIJ].

The grid and the Oracle Home are suggested to be:
/*/app/Oracle/product/11.2.0/DB* for Oracle Database 11g oracle directories
/*/app/Oracle/product/11.2.0/grid* oracle home directory for the Infrastructure of grid of Oracle 11 g for a stand-alone server for the oracle user

However, I have read that there 11.2.0.2 group of patches, which is a new full version.
Oracle recommends to have the upgrade of Out-of-place (this is Oracle recommended to apply a patch to the game. You install the hotfix in a new, separate Oracle home location) and this is Oracle approach in the future.
Grid, it must be upgraded out of place.

So does make sense that I should install the Oracle home /*/app/oracle/product/11.2.0.x/grid* and '/*/app/oracle/product/11.2.0.x/db* '?

Thank you.

Rocky

Welcome to the forums!

This is a valid and good question. I think that your approach is logical, given that future update sets (11.2.0.3 etc.) would be also (I hope) released that installs complete and will very likely need to be installed in separate houses.

  • Give advice about uninstalling the database Client Oracle under Windows with multiple Oracle homes

    Hi all.

Probably a Client of Oracle database uninstall will arrive in a Windows box, where there are several houses of Oracle:

    (1) the Oracle Database 11 g Client is.

    (2) the House of Oracle Oracle database server.

    (3) oracle 6i Oracle Home.

    I have these concerns:

    (1) do I stop Oracle Services NOT related to the Oracle Home being deleted? I guess that's not necessary, but it is recommended?

    (2) the YES program to run must be or is better to use the YES program located at removed Oracle (Oracle Client to Database 11 g in this situation)?

"(3) I see there are additional post - installation according to section 5.3 steps"manually remove the Oracle database Client components remaining' the Oracle Client Installation Guide for Windows.

Could someone provide the additional steps or recommendations?

Sorry but I do not trust the windows plataform much!

    Thanks in advance!

    Best regards, Luis!

    Hello myluism,

You can use the oracle supplied binary dinstall to uninstall oracle binaries that you can download from this url of Oracle Database 11 g Release 2 for Microsoft Windows (x 64) that looks good in your context.

In addition, you can also uninstall the binary files by running the dinstall respecitive houses Oracle located in the path: ORACLE_HOME\dinstall.

Please go through the url: https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e47959/deinstall.htm#NTCLI1326

    I hope this helps.

    Thank you and best regards.

  • HOWTO: install Oracle database software in a new oracle home

    Hallo,

I approach my first upgrade of database Oracle 11.2.0.1 to 11.2.0.4 I want to perform a manual upgrade.

The first step (after download and extract the files from the zip in a folder) is "to install the software in a new oracle home.

the installer give me 3 choices:

-create and configure a new database

Most of the other errors seems to be associated with em, specifically the em.oracle.home. When to check the AdminServer.out at the start of the AdminServer environment variable seems also not to be defined.

    The installer is basically;

    • read the weblogic (wls.jar) model, set some basic as etc domain name options and write the field.
    • read the field and add the model bpm (oracle.bpm_template_12.1.3.jar)
    • Set up the domain
      • setOption ('AppDir', domain_app_home);
      • create a machine
      • create a cluster of soa and add the soa server to the cluster

When validating deployments in the WLC the em.ear aims the AdminServer, but is failing. Targets of the MA has an em, the default (webapp) component and the empty.jar.

If necessary I can post scripts

    See you soon,.

For the benefit of third parties, the problem has caused a bad addition to the EXTRA_JAVA_PROPERTIES.

A setUserOverrides.sh in the "/ bin" that contains the following statements.

    [code]

    EXTRA_JAVA_PROPERTIES = ""-Djava .net .preferIPv4Stack = true ' "

    export EXTRA_JAVA_PROPERTIES

    [/ code]

The setUseOverrides.sh is run after the setSOADomainEnv.sh and therefore replaces the settings.

By adding the new EXTRA_JAVA_PROPERTIES it is all ok works again... phew :-)

    EXTRA_JAVA_PROPERTIES = "-Djava .net .preferIPv4Stack = true, ${EXTRA_JAVA_PROPERTIES}" "

  • Expected .dbf files copied from old house Oracle Oracle home again after an upgrade out of place?

    Hello

I recently performed an upgrade out of place of Oracle 11.2.0.2 at 11.2.0.4 by following the checklist to upgrade Oracle (Doc ID 1276368.1).  While doing an RMAN backup, I noticed he was doing market back files .dbf since the old Oracle 11.2.0.2 rather than the new Oracle 11.2.0.4 Directory directory.  The .dbf files that are being backed up are not in the new Oracle 11.2.0.4 directory.  Must the .dbf files be copied to the Oracle of old House to the new House Oracle after an upgrade?

    Thank you in advance.

In the checklist Upgrade Oracle (Doc ID 1276368.1), I could see not all the instructions to copy all the old Oracle Directory .dbf files to the new.  I was wondering if that is by design (.dbf files remain in the old Oracle Directory and somehow referenced in the new Oracle Directory) and what happens when I do a restore RMAN.

If you start working & only installed database 11.2.0.2 a new copy of the Oracle of 11.2.204, then of course there no data files in the new directory.

Most people have NOT stored in/under ORACLE_HOME Oracle data files.

There is no need to have the Oracle datafiles reside under the new Oracle 11.2.0.4 directory

  • Why ORACLE HOME USER 12.1.0.2 LIMITED to SINGLE INSTANCE?

Thank you for taking my question!

I installed my first database 11g to 12.1.0.2 under windows (no cars).  I need help understanding new ORACLE HOME of the USER to affect my c 12 databases.

The documentation below States "when YES creates the account of USER ORACLE HOME it can only be used by a database unique instance".  I don't understand why I can't add another instance and use the same YES program created the USER account to the HOME of ORACLE page?  Why choice is (1) differs from the number of choices (2) given that both can be local accounts?   In addition, if you are unable to sign the USER ORACLE HOME, how that affects the OEM or OEM agent running on the database target?

    Thank you!

    Kathie

When installing YES offers three options to associate a user Oracle Home of the Oracle home:

    1. leave YES create a new user account to do as a user in the Oracle home page.
This option of the newly created user has the rights to connect to the server.
This can only be used for Single Instance databases.

    2. Select an existing local or a domain as account being the user Oracle Home.
If the existing account has login privileges, then Oracle Home user will have login rights to the server.
This must be a nonadministrator user.

    3. Select a built-in account as the user Oracle Home.
In this local Service option / built-in account Local system will become user Oracle Home.

So if you do not use CARS, so it's no problem. The documentation seems to say that Option 1 cannot be used with CARS, not Option 1 cannot be used with multiple instances.

  • Install several Oracle 11 G R2 Oracle homes on Windows 2008 R2 x 64?

I have a Windows 2008 R2 running an Oracle DEV 11.2.0.3 x 64 database. I would like to install a copy of a 11.2.0.3 PROD based on this same server to use as a backup. If the Production Server fails, I can switch to that server. I have not installed several houses Oracle/forums/databases before and a bit confusing. Can the two databases are running under the same Oracle Home or I can (..) If it is allowed...) install 11 G R2 another House on a separate disk and run the 2nd data base from there?

You can have two databases running out of the House even if so, you want to or run different oracle homes.  Normally you would have separate/houses/databases, if you are likely to have separate patching strategies.

Specifically, you say that want to restore a copy of prod on the DEV server to be used as a "backup".  How you will keep this up-to-date copy?  Have you considered dataguard?

The verbal and demo explanation does not use the original location/Oracle HOme of the previously
installed for the binary PFRD base.   It probably should.

In addition, for some steps to follow to patch binaries PFRD, I'd put it:

Step 4.  I am guessing that the patch will establish an another sub dir Disk1 and don't want to overwright
installation of the initial PFRD, therefore, moves the Group of hotfixes as follows.

    CD/opt/web/install/PortalUpgradeAdvisor/pfrd
    960 ls - ltr
    Group of hotfixes mkdir 961
    Group patches 962 mv p11060983_111140_LINUX.zip

I guess, all we are doing is patching of binary files, nothing should be running.

run. / set_mid_clean after making sure the files property was oracle: oracle.

    Yes, VNC gui and

RE: Get the message again on this screen "installs the software only. After said is finished, use

Specify the installation location.  Always to
    Oracle Middleware homepage: / opt/oracle/Middleware
    and
An Oracle home directory: as_2 # I bet it must be as_1 because that is where the initial PFRD install binary files has occurred.

NOTE: The summary of the Installation in the video screen escape the Oracle Home is the previous specified during the initial installation. That is to say. PFRD_Binaries.   I guess I should have named that instead of taking the default as_1. At least I would have to have done that.  Well.  Maybe this story might help the next guy.

    Also

NOTE: The Installation screen is not "from" group of patches as in the video where it says
Install Oracle Portal, forms, reports, and discover the Group of hotfixes.

    Hi Charlie
I'm a little confused by this feedback. Especially when you say that you see the option "install - do not configure. Should this option is visible only when you run the Basic 11.1.1.2 PFRD the software installer. The Group of hotfixes 11.1.1.4 has his own 'runInstaller'... and this will display what you see in the viewlet. You definitely run the installer from the directory of stage in the Group of hotfixes? (I'll do my own validation test - if I find something strange going on... I'll report.)

I now take the following action

    1. I will put the Viewlet so it is clear that the Group of hotfixes is staged in a different place from the base 11.1.1.2 media
    2. provide that nothing must be running (because at this point, no instance of 11 g of construction has been configured)
    3. There's a "slippage" that illustrates the Middleware and Oracle Home entries in the screen "Location of Installation to specify" IE

    Middleware homepage: / u01/alca_portal/middleware
    Oracle home: PFRD_Binaries

However, you will see that this slide for 2 seconds (which is an error) and if you miss it probably.

Just FYI - the House of Oracle 11 g correction is in general the same procedure as patching a mid-layer House AS10g i.e

-You set the Oracle Home base using the installation of the basic software program
-You patch the Oracle home using the installation program of the Group of hotfixes
