11g rac asm

If I do it on a single node1

crsctl stop cluster

then

crsctl start cluster,

forge other instances and databases

always be available or I'm affecting a single node instance resources?

> So if I conn as sysdba on one instance and make immediate judgment who doesn't also stop cars db?

If its RAC instance, only this instance will be down and cars db will be available via other running instances.

    Oracle Grid these days use ASM starts for vote and register files storage. So no need for a cooked cluster file system that must be mounted by all nodes. No need either directly with a gross storage logical unit number.

    ASM uses the LUN of the matrix of storage/SAN directly (as devices of rough blocks).

    Generally however, there are several I/O paths to that LUN on the SAN - in which case there is more than 1 device level o/s for this LUN. Multipath driver s/w addresses this and creates a logical (and redundant) device that sits at the top of several devices of i/o path to the level of the o/s.

    You configure ASM to use devices of paths multiples (as devices of rough blocks) - and applying exterrnal, normal or high redundancy necessary when creating starts on these logical multipath devices.

    The grid s/w and RAC database instances can then use ASM starts as cluster storage.

    This makes storage much easier layer management - and also provide a number of useful features too.

    This is also the approach recommended by Oracle Corp. for RAC - use ASM under the layer of management of storage between storage LUNS in the table and one side and CARS on the other.

  • 11g RAC - RAW Devices Configuration

    Hello

    Please let me know if there is a difference in the configuration of RAW devices for 11g RAC compared to 10g.
    For example in 10g, we would separate RAW Devices for OCR, voting disk, ASM spfile, archives log files and database files.

    Please let me know if configuring RAW devices in 11g is different from that of 10g.

    Hello

    all first with 11.2. directly use the RAW devices is no longer supported. However, you can use RAW devices below ASM. So if you use ASM for data files, archivelogs etc, then the ASM disks can be RAW devices.
    Second: A general comment on Linux RAW devices. Have become obsolete from CRUDES Linux devices (I think with RHEL 5.3), so I recommend the direct use of block devices (which is possible since 10.2.0.2).

    No to your question:
    With 11 GR 1 material has not changed the configuration of the CRUDE devices.
    With 11 GR 2, the configuration has changed. See the Grid Infrastructure Installation Guide for additional and accurate information (on the installation, rights of user etc.).

  • Oracle 11 g 2 11.2.0.3 Server install RAC (ASM) redhat linux 6 asmlib?

    I installed Oracle RAC (asm) on Red Hat Linux 4 and 5 without problems by using NFS and creating shared files and presented them to the DSO as devices without any problem.

    Now I meet with Oracle 11 g 2 ASM installation on Red Hat Linux 6.1 and the installation documentation is inaccuracies on how I can use shared NFS this empty asm files so that I can properly install the DSO. I understand that Oracle does not provide ASMLib for raw devices for Red Hat linux 6 going forward.

    I understand that asmlib must not be supported on Red Hat Linux 6 forward however I would appreciate information in support of the DSO on Red Hat Linux 6 using NFS share and create empty files with jj. This worked on Linux 5 and I'll try to find a solution.

    / sbin/scsi_id is used so that I understand. EXM/sbin/scsi_id-g u d < device empty file or dd >

    Trust setting of SCSI devices by adding the entry of /etc/scsi_id.config

    Rules UDEV advice would be appreciated.

    Since I use empty files to the server for ASM, using partprobe < path of the empty file? >?

    Thank you

    Hello

    If it comes to cluvfy in the program installation you indicating that your devices are not shared, contempt which (if you personally know that they are shared).
    This seems to be an annoying error with cluvfy, the shared disk check only works in specific circumstances...

    To be honest, I never saw him work properly, so I'm testing the devices 'sharedness' always myself (dd in on a node, dd on the other to see the results expected).

    If the error happens however at a date later (root.sh), then the devices are really not shared, or you have a permissions problem.

    Hello

    According to the guidelines of your output, you can see log files waiting for new primary forward, but you haven't posted from sleep mode if you have set up the standby redo log files or not?
    This problem occurs only if there is an incorrect configuration , reconfigure then again by abandonment & recreating.

    Sleep mode: -.

  • Need advice from configuration to the flash cache multi-node RAC/ASM

    We have a database of CARS to work two nodes. We install a new fusion 640 GB flash card in each node. The is a double card, so that it shows up as two devices: / dev/fioa and/dev/fiob on each node.
    We have created two groups of private drives, one on each node. The Group of disks on node 1 is '+ FLASHCACHE' and the disk on node 2 group is "+ FLASHCACHE2".

    We have not found specific examples of how to configure the parameters of the init for flashcache on RAC/ASM. We guess that we must do the following. If anyone would be critical and confirm or suggest something different, we would appreciate it very much!

    "prod1.db_flash_cache_file ='+ FLASHCACHE/flash1"
    prod2.dg_flash_cache_file = '+ FLASHCACHE2/flash2'
    * .db_flash_cache_size = 600G

    Thanks for any advice.

    Jim

    Published by: jimbev90 on January 5, 2012 08:18

    Hi Jim,.

    prod1.db_flash_cache_file='+FLASHCACHE/flash1'
    prod2.dg_flash_cache_file='+FLASHCACHE2/flash2'
    *.db_flash_cache_size=600G

    Your configuration is correct.

    Smart Flash Cache database is not shared across RAC nodes. It is private to each RAC instance. For this reason, each RAC instance must define its own local cache of flash file path. When the flash cache is managed by ASM, a separate diskgroup is necessary for each instance flash cache.

    You can use ALTER SYSTEM for db_flash_cache_size set to zero to disable the flash cache. Alternatively, you can use ALTER SYSTEM to deliver the flash cache to its original size to reactivate it.

  • Configuration of the laptop for R12 with node 2 11g RAC database

    Hi all

    I plan to buy a new computer dell laptop XPS to install Oracle Apps R12 with node 2 11g RAC DB by creating virtual machines.

    Configuration:
    generation of Intel processor i5-2410 2 (2.3 GHz, core 2, 3 MB cache)
    8 GB RAM DDR3
    750 GB HARD drive
    this configuration will be sufficient for the highest installation? RAM? Processor?

    I've read a few threads over on this forum where people have recommended for installation of single application (11i or R12), this kind of configuration can be enough.

    Please answer.

    Thanks in advance.

    Brij

    You need at least 4 GB for installation on a single node R12. So, if you plan to have 3 VMs (1 application node) and 2 RAC nodes or 4 virtual machines (2 application and 2 RAC nodes), then I suggest that you add more memory. However, your RAM should work, but don't expect (if you go with 3 VMs) but do not expect the performance to be perfect.

  • Oracle RAC ASM issues SQLLoader

    One of our clients wants to use Oracle RAC ASM for our application, I just want to know if there will be transactions of validation in two phases and SQL * Loader broadcasts in ASM.

    Oracle 10 g database is

    ASM works only at the level of the storage layer and has nothing to do with:
    -the distributed transactions
    -executable client that connects to the database instance: SQL * Loader, SQL * Plus, etc.

    RAC has also nothing to do with distributed transactions: a RAC database is a single database with multiple instances, but always a single database; There is no need to use distributed transactions because you have a RAC database.

  • 11G with ASM and RDBMS problem when the server reboot (dependencies)

    Hello

    I just install the new version 11G with ASM for the first time. When I restart my server, RDBMS start before the ASM service isn't over to start. It's like when the care services, CSS and EVM have been replaced by the OH dependencies have been lost. The OH service is started but it's as if he is not optional and others start immediately (ASM and RDBMS).

    Early restart, I see the OHservice started and the DSO after that (on the road), but when the RDBMS starts the instance handle of stay (inactive and not mount) because unit number logic for the catalog of service is not available yet. I see in the alert.log to RDBMS catalog segment is not found or not existing (/ catalog not nfound).

    If I wait about 3 to 5 minutes and restart only the RDMBS all start without problem.

    Is there a way I can adjust the stop with the 11g version service or use the crsctl to indicate to the RDBMS service start only when all the ASM service (MON) segment are mount?

    Thank you

    Normally the database is started by the clusterware and not by the windows service.

    Thus, there could be 2 ways to do this:
    (a.), try to assign the Windows of the database service to manual. It must be started by clusterware.

    If that doesn't work, try this:

    (b) leaving the service to automatic startup (Windows), but disable the automatic start of the database. This you can normally change in the registry
    -Online-online Oracle-online key HKLM => ORACLE__AUTOSTART
    (not 100% sure on the key, but I'm sure that you'll be able to find it.)

    Unfortunately do not have atm WindowsCluster to try it myself.

    Additional please check if your db instance has the correct dependencies defined in the clusterware.
    Make one

    stat ora res crsctl. .db Pei

    and paste it here.

    So good luck...
    Sebastian
