Oracle 11 g 2 11.2.0.3 Server install RAC (ASM) redhat linux 6 asmlib?
I installed Oracle RAC (asm) on Red Hat Linux 4 and 5 without problems by using NFS and creating shared files and presented them to the DSO as devices without any problem.Now I meet with Oracle 11 g 2 ASM installation on Red Hat Linux 6.1 and the installation documentation is inaccuracies on how I can use shared NFS this empty asm files so that I can properly install the DSO. I understand that Oracle does not provide ASMLib for raw devices for Red Hat linux 6 going forward.
I understand that asmlib must not be supported on Red Hat Linux 6 forward however I would appreciate information in support of the DSO on Red Hat Linux 6 using NFS share and create empty files with jj. This worked on Linux 5 and I'll try to find a solution.
/ sbin/scsi_id is used so that I understand. EXM/sbin/scsi_id-g u d < device empty file or dd >
Trust setting of SCSI devices by adding the entry of /etc/scsi_id.config
Rules UDEV advice would be appreciated.
Since I use empty files to the server for ASM, using partprobe < path of the empty file? >?
Thank you
Hello
If it comes to cluvfy in the program installation you indicating that your devices are not shared, contempt which (if you personally know that they are shared).
This seems to be an annoying error with cluvfy, the shared disk check only works in specific circumstances...
To be honest, I never saw him work properly, so I'm testing the devices 'sharedness' always myself (dd in on a node, dd on the other to see the results expected).
If the error happens however at a date later (root.sh), then the devices are really not shared, or you have a permissions problem.

Need steps to install RAC Oracle 12 c on AIX
Hi all
I need documentation/tutorials for installing RAC 12 c on a support for AIX version. I don't have any experience on AIX, is very different from CentOS/RHEL/OEL?
Hi delphine,.
I highly recommend that you will follow the official Oracle documentation:
- Start with the installation of the grid Infrastructure:http://docs.oracle.com/database/121/CWAIX/toc.htm
- After the installation of the complete Network Infrastructure, you can go ahead with the installation of database: http://docs.oracle.com/database/121/AXDBI/inst_task.htm#BABBBHJH
In addition, I recommend you install 12.1.0.2 which is the last patch set for 12 c and it includes many fixes for bugs in 12.1.0.1 and also of new improvements and features that were not available in 12.1.0.1 (for example, the memory option, and many others).

How can I add data file to an existing table on Oracle RAC ASM with no OMF? Thank you!
Hello
So I guess you have some files in ASM, see your first existing file structure
Select file_name
from dba_data_files;
and to add to an existing table, the example below (even if you're better sticking with OMFs!)-is that what you are looking for?
SQL > create tablespace TEST1

Created tablespace.

Your paging file must be at least as big as your physical ram, or in your case specific at least 9 GB or larger. The value of your swap 32 GB if you plan to use the AMM but I wouldn't use it AMM because Oracle does not support on Solaris. Supported only for the ASM instance and not the databases.

Database Oracle and VirtualCenter 5.0 on the same server?
We have 11 ESXi host and whant to install Oracle R2 on the VirtualCenter 5.0 server.
VirtialCenter 5.0 and Oracle will bee installed on a virtual machine.
The virtual machine will have 4 vCPU´s 2 GHz each and 8 GB of RAM.
So my question is:
Is - this senario ok, or do I have TO install Oracle on a separate server?
Hello
You can use Oracle as the database for vCenter Server 5.0 and is therefore capable of managing all your ESXi hosts - all 11 of them. This means that you need to install Oracle on your virtual machine where you plan to install the vCenter Server 5.0 and when it asks for the select Oracle database. See the installation guide for vCenter Server 5.0.

Hi experts,
I install software from the Oracle 11 g 2 of 32-bit Redhat Linux 5.5. but when I start the installation of Oracle on a mode graphic I found bad graphics on Redhat Linux.
same Oracle 'Button' of window installation (such as 'Next', 'Back') do not show on the screen of the window. means the window of Oracle that is open when it LAUNCHES. / runInstaller do not show correctly the scren system.
Please suggest any Linux RPM making my own graphics window meaner Redhat and I can easily install Oracle.
[oracle@prod ~] $ cat/etc/redhat-release

Hello
You try to install the DB on a virtualized environment, if so, please install the VMware tool and see if it helps.
Otherwise, if it s a physical machine, try increasing the resolution screen ANS see if it helps!
Thank you &

Somehow, I managed to installed most of them but could not download and install below good packets under Linux.

You can try this database with Enterprise Manager configuration later by manually running the script of C:\app\Administrator\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\bin\emca
At the end I'll past the log as well.
Now the problem is when I try to launch emca manually. It does not run. and then I decided to uninstall oracle 11 GR 2, but when I try to uninstall Oracle 11 GR 2 installer universal and clicked on installed product then he showed me the folling

It is strange to me. now I am confused what to do, the services are running, but I can't run the script of emca. I'm stuck, if any body can help me in this regard, I will be very thank ful...

What YES you use uninstall 11 GR 2? This means that you have also installed other oracle software on your laptop. 11 g, you cannot use YES uninstall 11 GR 2 software and you need to user uninstall utility instead. Either you can download uninstall utility of OTN, or alternatively, you can run it from the oracle home that you uninstall, as followsOn your command prompt, replace ORACLE_HOME with the oracle home path on your laptop then execute following. ORACLE_HOME\deinstall\deinstall
For OEM database control, your DBSNMP account is locked. Unblock this account.
Follow step-by-step commands you set it up.
emca -repos recreate emca -deconfig dbcontrol db emca -config dbcontrol db

Oracle RAC ASM issues SQLLoader
One of our clients wants to use Oracle RAC ASM for our application, I just want to know if there will be transactions of validation in two phases and SQL * Loader broadcasts in ASM.
Oracle 10 g database isASM works only at the level of the storage layer and has nothing to do with:
-the distributed transactions
-executable client that connects to the database instance: SQL * Loader, SQL * Plus, etc.RAC has also nothing to do with distributed transactions: a RAC database is a single database with multiple instances, but always a single database; There is no need to use distributed transactions because you have a RAC database.

Oracle 10g RAC + ASM + Data Guard: Question on the new disk group.
Hello
One of our clients is to have Oracle 10 g RAC + ASM + Data Guard. Database is the disk DATA_DG1 group and FRA is on FLASH_DG1. Data Guard is a single instance on ASM.
To add more space, we can create another disc of the Group DATA_DG2 on Prod ASM and Data Guard ASM env, replication continues without any problem. Will be archiving logs shipped to the second disk DATA_DG2 group and applied without any configuration changes?
Rgds,Yes, it sounds great.
You should be fine with the implementation of these measures and the dataguard should continue on as usual.
Just make sure that you are dealing with a physical standby that has not the conerts file name defined.

install Oracle on RedHat Linux AS4 iAS
Hi all
We need to install Oracle iAS 10.1.2.0.2 on RedHat Linux AS4
but some packages are required to complete the installation as
* 2.3.4 glibc - 2.9
* glibc-common - 2.3.4 - 2: 9
* binutils - 2.15.92.0.2 - 13
* compat-libstdc ++ - 296 - 2, 96 - 132.7.2
* gcc - 3.4.3 - 22.1
* gcc - c++ - 3.4.3 - 22.1
* libstdc ++ - 3.4.3 - 22.1
* libstdc ++ - devel - 3.4.3 - 22.1
* openmotif21 - 2.1.30 - 11.RHEL4.4
* pdksh - 5.2.14 - 30
* setarch-1, 6-1
* make-3, 80-5
* gnome-libs - 1.4.1.2.90 - 44.1
* sysstat - 5.0.5 - 1
* compat - 4.1.25 - DB9
* control center - 2.8.0 - 12
* xscreensaver - 4.18 - 5.rhel4.2
===================================
the system already have these packages, but some of them is the low version
as
2.3.4 glibc - 2.9 > > > > > we only glibc - 2.3.4 - 2
==============
I tried RPM sites to find the most recent version but without any power
Please advice if I install iAS on existing packaging, it will reflect on installation.performance or stability after that
Thank you

Oracle EBS: change the configuration of the new server
Hello everyone.
I'm newbie talk about administering Oracle EBS.
This is the scenario:
Oracle 11.1.0.7.0 database
Oracle EBS 12.1.3
The single node configuration: database of the layer and the application layer runs on the same server.
OS: RHEL 5.7
Virtual server.
The IT guys have cloned the production server by using the virtual server administration software in order to create a new virtual server for development purposes. The production server has been cloned successfully, the new development server is a host name and IP address different of the production server.
The head of the computer SCIENCE Department has asked me to work in the new development server. My goal is to change the configuration of the EBS:
1. change the ORACLE_SID of the Oracle database.
2. change the ORACLE_HOME of Oracle database and Applications: for example, current ORACLE_HOME is/U01/production and we need the ORACLE_HOME under/u01/development
3. change the user and group of the owners of Oracle database and Applications directories: for example, current owner of the directories of Oracle database is oramgr user and need to change the owner of oradev user, same case for Applications: current owner of inventories of Applications is user applmgr and need to change the owner of appldev user.
Of course, it is expected after making changes, the Oracle DB and Oracle Applications must be able to function normally, I want to use the scripts to start and stop oracle the bleachers.
Is it possible to make the mentioned changes?
Can you please guide me to do this?
Thanks in advance guys!
You will need to follow the steps of the R12 cloning MOS 406982.1 Doc - essentially you are going to use the current instance as the source and make a clone with all the necessary changes you listed, and then drop the source instance

How to change NLS_DATE_FORMAT in Instance of Application Express?
