  Go to Device Manager and click on the device ACPI\VEN_ASD & DEV_0001, who need a driver.

  Click the driver tab.  Click on set to update driver.  Select her browse my computer for driver software method and navigate to the driver folder, that you unzipped.

  Make sure that the include subfolders is selected, and the driver should install.

  I've updated the BIOS on my Toshiba Qosmio F30 - 140 and I have issues with the management of ACPI.

  When I try to run Ubuntu 9.04 or 9.10, I see constantly typed characters - "^ [[B ', which cancel all important processes.
  When I add "acpi = off" option to GRUB the problem seems not apear, but I do not have access to important features (like changing the brightness of the display). How to solve this problem?

  first: "never touch a running system", but you already know...

  with this new bios, you have enabled some features of the motherboard...
  Try this:
  -turn off acpi in the bios mode, if possible
  -patch your kernel to use the acpi features
  - or disable the use of the features of acpi by boot-cheats

  as you say the problem doesn't exist when starting with "acpi = off".
  display brightness and the cooling of the processor are the main features of acpi to save energy, if your kernel can not handle
  check_acpi_ignore = 1 might be a way to make it work

  way the easiest way is to reinstall the system...

  during the last days I installed linux gentoo on my m40-129 - everything was going well until I tried to run the ACPI.
  can't use the ipw2200 wirless card shipped in combination with a kernel acpi. It fails from the 2200 with "impossible to send a TX_POWER command. Disable acpi in the kernel solves this problem, but a laptop computer without acpi is completely unnecessary...

  is there something wrong with the acpi table or is this a bug in the acpi kernel sources?

• Satellite P100 - 115 ACPI problems on Linux

  I have a P100-115 (United States is P105 -?) with geforce 7600. I tried to install suse 10.1. Everything was fine, but after awhile, I noticed a strange thing. The main vent only lights when 65 ° C is reached and the vent on the side left (graphics card) lights never. Then I checked the temperature through Nvidia driver and to my surprise, there were 85 C. So I have concluded that the fan control does not work.

  The main fan light probably because of thermal protection in portable computer because I tried to play with trip points and there was no effect. Now I have to run suse with acpi = off switch because it makes the fan runs all the time. But you can imagine how annoying, this can be. I s there is another user who uses linux unde P100 and P105 and his control of the fan works?

  Well, as much as I know that the Linux Suse 10.1 is a beta version and in my opinion some bugs may appear.
  I have read that many people have problems with Suse 10.1 installation or operation of this Linux distribution.
  I recommend you to visit the official site of support of Suse for more details.
  In addition, you can try to install an early version on Suse or you use a different linux distribution.
