16-bit binary 8-bit conversion

Im having a little trouble making a labview VI for this process, where var1send and var2send are 16 whole bits signed

int8_t var1low = var1send & 0xff;
int8_t var1high = (var1send > 8);
int8_t var2low = var2send & 0xff;
int8_t var2high = (var2send > 8);

Any help would be great!

Are your machines with a UEFI firmware? If so - bad luck because they don't are not supported (p.19 in the guide). The reason is not the firmware itself (Converter supports UEFI) but the bootloader. SLES using GRUB with BIOS machines but ELILO with computers UEFI and converter does not support ELILO.

If this isn't the case, please attach the full bundle newspaper. GUI logs aren't useful.

  • 32 to 16 Bit Conversion CC 2014

When using Merge To HDR Pro Photoshop CC and get the desired results, we could convert 16-bit with preserved appearance during the conversion of the Image > Mode > 16 bits > do you want to merge > Yes > toning dialog box > exposure and Gamma, and then by selecting 0/1.

I haven't used it since the update in 2014, but that dialogue isn't there anymore, at least I can't not to him.  Is he past? What to do instead to preserve the appearance of the 32-bit image that I adjusted in ACR or Lightroom?  In addition, it is perhaps another question, but when I use Merge To HDR Pro the resulting image of 32-bit looks like it has changed color and definitely has a greenish tint and I don't know why.  Anyone elese know this?

    Thanks for any help.

Well, the only one I can think of would be to Edit > file management > use Adobe Camera Raw to convert documents from 32 bits to 16/8 bits. In this case, you would see ACR open, so I doubt that the option is checked. Unfortunately, the preference given to zero, that's probably what you have to do.

  • 16-bit to 8-bit conversion image problem

Hello, I am projecting a 16 bit image to 8 bits for the special criteria. I met a problem when the image is 8-bit cast, the entire image is black, creating an error that correctly says that the contrast is low (which makes sense since there is no value). With the help of one other programs I am able to convert 16-bit to 8-bit fine. I tried to play with the update option several times in the distribution of images vi nothing helps. The 16-bit and are both the 8-bit unsigned image. I'll attach pictures and a photo of the code below.

I thought about it, I had to convert manually to 8 bits to get the right values for the pixels. The 8-bit image resembles the 16 bits one now, allowing me to pattern matching in my vi. It seems as if the use of unsigned 16-bit images and try to convert to 8-bit through the Image of cast iron work sometimes it pixel values are not converted correctly.

  • 32 bit to 64 bit conversion

When I finished my custom built PC, so was 3G of ram Windows pro 32-bit.

The Windows pro CD came with 32 and 64 bit version.

Finally, I installed 12G ram and use 32-bit license to install the 64-bit.

What is the best procedure to achieve this, as I have all the CDs to reinstall the drivers and programs that I use.

You will need to do a clean install, there is no place on the way to upgrade Windows 7 32 bit to 64 bit.

Using the disk of 64-bit Windows 7, install Windows 7 Windows Easy Transfer Utility from the DVD (to find it, simply navigate to x:\support\migwiz, "x:" is the name of your hard drive. (In this case, you will see a collection of files, the important"that you must search for and double-click is 'migsetup'.) run it and create a DAMP (Windows Easy Transfer file), if you have an external hard drive, you can access it later when you perform a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit disk so you can stored there.

Once you have done this, just do a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit disc. In Windows 7 64 bit disk, start Windows Easy Transfer, follow the wizard screen, tap on which is stored the WET file (external hard drive) and it will restore your personal files and settings. Reinstall the applications needed.

    Mobile: http://www.notebooks.com/2009/10/07/using-windows-easy-transfer-in-windows-7/

Boot from the DVD 64 bit Windows 7
    Click Install now
    Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:

(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

  • Binary to ASCII conversion or save several binary ASCII Scans?

    Hello

I'm doing an analysis of data for a colleague, using data that it collected and a vi that he created, so I am a little lost.

The vi he created (see the zip file) will save each of the 3600 scans in the binary file (not in the zip file because the combined zip file will not download because it is close to 40 MB) as individual ASCII files. I would like for these 3600 scans to be stored in an ASCII file rather than 3600 ASCII files. Is there an easier way that I can go on that rather than just do a massive conversion of the binary file in ASCII format? Although it is easier to simply convert the binary file into an ASCII file, I'm ok with that too.

Also, I don't have the time information and the date that is contained in the binary file - however, I have to the data stored in an ASCII file in the same order that the data are collected in chronological order.

    Thank you!

    dNr

If what you want is a text file containing all 3600 records in binary data, so why aren't you just do the conversion at the same time?

If you do the analysis of data for him, and he created this VI, why not he just create the VI to do the conversion in mass in the first place?  Why he wrote this VI as he did?

  • Ascii to binary string string conversion

    Hello

I am fairly new to LABVIEW but now I connect to a device using a serial RS232 cable.  In any case I use VISA read to get the output of the unit, and I wanted the device to return the output to ASCII format.  He is able to do, but now I'm stuck.  Now, I'm trying to convert this string of ASCII characters to a binary string.  In other words, if my release was a "Medley" of VISA Read, I have to be able to get a string that was '0111000101101110 '.  Any help is appreciated.  Thank you.

This does not make much sense, because "0111000101101110" would be "SB" and not "QN". You want to throw a conversion 'lowercase' too?

In any case, here's a solution that works with any length of string.

This seems quite complicated. In general, it is easier to work directly in binary strings rather than binary to ASCII format.

If you get a "msg is not compatible" when you install the correct version driver of ILO, either you are using the wrong driver got on the wrong site or there is a problem with your installation of win.

  • Can I switch from Vista 32 bit to Win 7 64 bit on hp pavillion d4790y?

I have 2 gig ram, but really need to accelerate up to 8 GB. I would also like to get win 7 for the office. Before all this, I need to know since my current OS is 32-bit, but 64-bit capable, if I install windows 7 64 bit will it pass from 32 to 64? And then the 8 GB of RAM will actually work if I buy that as well? Will I run into all the problems of the material inside (processor or motherboard (intel core 2 cpu [email protected] ghz))? I do not understand 32-bit to 64-bit conversions... Thank you

    Hi, Ciaroman:

As I explained to wb2001, there is a difference between an upgrade on the spot and a custom (new installation).

An upgrade in place means that you keep all of your files, programs and settings when you upgrade to Windows 7.

While I always recommend backing up your files in case something goes wrong, all you do is pop in the disk on the Windows desktop and it installs Windows 7 and other than that, your PC is just the way it was before you upgrade, except that you now have Windows 7 instead of Windows Vista.

You may need to install a couple of pilots, but that should be all you need to do.

When you move from a 32-bit to a 64 bit OS OS, you can do an upgrade on the spot.

You have to backup all your files and completely reload all programs, files and personal settings once your new 64-bit OS is installed.

This installation method is called a custom or clean installation.

Now as for the memory... Basically, Crucial memory is the same as the memory that I posted from NewEgg.

If you feel 'safer' purchase of Crucial, by all means do so.

I just give you options for less expensive, but also as a decent memory.

    This choice is yours.

I can't say, I bought my memory from NewEgg (essential or patriot) for laptops and for a few years now and never had a problem with backward compatibility still.

Here's an article on the latency CASE that explains better that I could. Basically the more latency, faster memory performs. This is not the same as the speed in MHz, it performs to.

    http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/CAS_latency

So, as the number 5 of the same 800 Mhz memory chip should give you a slightly better Windows experience index # a chip number 6.

I'm not an expert of memory. I didn't even know there were fleas in CASE 5 PC2-6400. I thought they were all CASES 6 and that all modules in memory PC2-5300 cases5.

In any case, I went with Crucial memory because it was cheaper at the time.

    So, to summarize...

Upgrade on-site is NOT the same as a custom upgrade.

In place keeps all the files and settings and install just the OS on the existing.

Custom: All files and programs must be reinstalled after installing the OS.

CASE 5 memory 'faster' than the memory of 6 CASES.

Just for fun, when you get your floppy drive to install W7 (I recommend buying retail package so that you get a 32 bit version and 64), put the 64 bit OS installation disc in the DVD drive on the windows desktop and see what happens.

Then, remove the disc and insert the W7 32-bit installation disk and see what happens.

You will then have proof positive, there is no way you can do an inplace upgrade to an OS 64-bit to a 32 bit OS.

Personally, I would do a custom (clean install) of a 32 to an OS 32 bit or 64 64-bit OS anyway. I am suspicious of an upgrade inplace carrying luggage old to the new facility.

Please report if you have any other questions or need additional assistance.

  • Can anything convert ALAC 24-bit or higher?

Personally, I would like to convert it to a minimum of 32-bit floating-point ALAC, but I'd settle for 24-bit integer. 16-bit is too. I heard that the ALAC has the ability to support 384 kHz, 32-bit floating point, maybe even 64-bit Floating Point (IEEE) the way WAV files can.

Can not export or convert to 32-bit ALAC with a minimum of 44.1 kHz and 256 Kbps?

SteveG (AudioMasters) thanks for the recommendation of Foobar2000, but it seems sketchy. Whatever it is, I did a short study in order to determine which program should provide the best quality of conversion ALAC as well as inadvertently determine best quality (in my opinion) output formats:

Surprisingly (not really), iTunes is the best converter ALAC (free), may be replaced by Logic Pro X, nothing else. It is possible to convert to 32-bit Float ALAC, 192 kHz and maybe even of 384 kHz, but not unless the source file is already 384 kHz. For 32-bit conversion, the source must be exported from Adobe Audition (CS6 or above I think) as 32-bit integer. In iTunes, it converts the floating-point format. 44.1 kHz being more than substantial, a float of 32 bit 44.1 kHz ALAC equals perfect compressed lossless Apple available.

Furthermore, I have determined that supplied iTunes perfect conversion of any waveform is registration, although ALAC iTunes conversions, as well as others, perhaps, reduce the peaks that exceed the threshold, but convert otherwise perfectly. without zooming on the threshold, you would never know there was a difference. This is recommended only with files that have reduced overall gain or who have already had dynamic range compression or fixed limitation.

Better yet, Adobe Audition can export files of Point floating (IEEE) FLAC 32 bits with original sampling frequencies (so you can resume 44.1 kHz) for perfect conversion, and I mean perfect. I checked the sections that were exact matches as far down as 1 hudred-millionieme of a second.

Perfect lossless Compression: Minimum 44.1 kHz, 32-bit floating point (IEEE), FLAC

I edit in WAV format, export WAV to Apple to convert to the ALAC, FLAC WAV export and destroy all WAV, FLAC become my source. The routine is perfect for me.

I can share my pages of notes of my studies over the past two weeks to determine all the data and the conclusions that I have collected with anyone.

  • 16 - bit vs. 8 - bit mysteries

I think I've read almost all 8-bit vs 16 bit 6 years debate, including those of Fraser and Margulis. I'm still confused, then I tried to develop tests of mine. I'm not very far because I came across some mysteries. I hope some gurus with more experience can enlighten us.

Following are the details, but in summary, why the Info palette in Photoshop displays the values of "bizarre" from 16-bit to 8-bit images? Why Photoshop generates different 16-bit values from the same 8-bit values?

Here is my test the first steps:

    Set up:

Launch Photoshop. I use CS5 64-bit in Windows 7 64 bit, but I wait for these tests would be the same as any version. Select the eyedropper tool and change the size of the sample "sample point". Go to the information palette, one of the values to display the RGB value (if not already there by default.) Then, set the value to 16-bit by clicking on the pipette beside RGB values.

    MYSTERY 1:

    1. create a new blank document, 500 x 500 pixels, 8-bit mode. sRGB color space.

    2. top of the color picker window, then set all the RGB values to 149. There is nothing special about 149. You can use any value. I picked it up because it corresponds to the value of "50% gray" in the Swatches palette that I use in other tests.

    3. fill the image with this value. Several ways to fill, I use the paint bucket.

    4. use the "sample point" eyedropper tool to read the 16 bit RGB values in the range of information. See 16-bit values of 19147 for value bits 8, 149.

That's the mystery. Why is the weird 16 bits one amount value? 16-bit, there are 128 steps between each 8-bit value. You would think that the 8-bit values would in integrals of 128. A value of 8 bits of 149 therefore 148 X 128 = 19072, not 19147.

    MYSTERY 2:

    2. generate a new document of 500 x 500 pixels, 16-bit mode.

2B. go to the Swatches palette, click the shade of gray "50%", the straight line from the top.

2 c. bring the color picker window, see that the RGB values are all 149.

2D. use Paint Bucket tool and fill the image.

2nd. shake the mouse around the image and see that the RGB 16-bit values are all 19131.

2f. bring to the top of the color selector window and simply retype a whole RGB values with the same value. Apparently, this causes Photoshop to reset values.

2 g. re - fill the image with the values of "reset".

2 h. sample of the image and to see that the 16-bit RGB values are now all 19147.

2I. repeat often, fill the picture with RGB 149 values first the value of the Swatches palette, and then set with the color picker. Note that the display of 16 bits in the Info palette switches back between 19131 and 19147.

So, why Photoshop generates different 16-bit values leave the same 8-bit values, depending on where you get the 8-bit values (selector vs swatches)? Note: different color spaces generate different values from the Swatches palette, as expected, but the mystery to get different results from 16-bit identical looking for 8-bit values still happens, regardless of the color space.

    MYSTERY 3:

    3. generate a new doc in 16-bit mode.

3B. go in the Swatches palette, click on the sample of 50% gray.

3 C use the paint bucket tool and fill the image.

4 d. the image with the eyedropper sample, check all values are 19131.

    5. use Image/Mode and convert to 8-bit.

6f. move the mouse around the image and see the 16-bit values have changed. Most are 19147, but some are 19018. Enlarge the image up to see and taste the individual pixels. There is no apparent reason for the 19018 value pixels. They seem to be random.

So, why Photoshop NOT applied the same calculation to each pixel in a 16 bit to 8 bit conversion?

The only explanation I can think of these mysteries is that perhaps the information palette is a false numbers of 16-bit values. The calculation on the actual pixels is perhaps different from the math used to calculate and display the values in the range of information. In this case, what we see, it is not that we receive?

I think I've read almost all 8-bit vs 16 bit 6 years debate, including those of Fraser and Margulis. I remained confused.

Simple summary: Fraser was right, Margulis was misleading.

That's the mystery. Why is the weird 16 bits one amount value? 16-bit, there are 128 steps between each 8-bit value. You would think that the 8-bit values would in integrals of 128. A value of 8 bits of 149 therefore 148 X 128 = 19072, not 19147.

    N ° you went from 0.255 to a range of 0.32768.

    (149 * 32768 + 127) / 255 = 19147

    Multiplying by 128 is too simplify the calculations.  32768 / 255 == 128.501961

As for the difference between the sources: rounded and different locations may contain different amounts of precision.

Click on the sample of 50% gray.

The results of this will depend on your color settings.  50% gray will give different values according to the used colorspace.

So, why Photoshop NOT applied the same calculation to each pixel in a 16 bit to 8 bit conversion?

Because you have the dithering enabled in the settings of color - which reduces 8-bit bands and provides a Visual match best your original 16-bit image.

  • How to convert 16-bit to 8-bit without dithering

I have 16-bit TIFF of RGB that I need to convert to 8-bit Windows bitmaps.

    When I Image > Mode > 8 Bits/channel, introduced Photoshop dither.  He doesn't want.  He's just doing.

Of course Photoshop erode try to simulate the fine 0-32768 for 16-bit tiff with 0-255, rude to the 8-bit bitmap.

But the nature of my photos do not dither.  He cannot have pixels that are identical to the neighbouring pixels have become true.

So I want the simplest kind of 16-bit conversion to 8-bit - pixel by pixel - each 16-bit level is replaced with the level of 8 nearest bits.

If there is no way to disable the dithering in Image > Mode > 8 Bits / layer is there some other way for the bitmaps in 8-bit necessary?

    Thank you

    .

Create a new 8-bit doc and copy the original 16-bit file to the new RFSO bit using the copy (or merged copy) and paste.

Save for web strips almost anything but the image of the file data. Probably better to copy and paste If you need dithering for color space conversion, or do as suggested and change the color settings.

Save for web (and devices) is in the file menu.

  • conversion of an image of threshoulded on a scale of gray on 1473R (FPGA)

    Hello

So I try to use an example called Image Processing with Vision Assistant on FPGA, edit and compress images PIV. However, when I try to use threshould function Vision Express sup - VI and then compile to my FPGA I get a black on the screen image, when I run the host VI. It could be due to the fact that the threshoulded image is black and red and the display configuration is U8 gray scale, but isn´t there is an option to display binary and I tried to use the lookup table to get a black and white image, but then he adds a new control, memory, I Don t know what to do with it.

If I could image as a binary file (and can view it), it would be perfect, but my programming really sucks and I Don t know how to do.

    Thanks in advance!

To view the binary image on the host, use a binary palette: right-click on the image of the view control, click the menu on the palette, then select binary.

Another option is to convert the image on the Vision FPGA Wizard in 8-bit (Conversion function in the palette of shades of gray), and then choose the operators and multiply by 255.

The returned image will be an 8-bit image with values of 255 for pixels binarize.

    Hope this helps,
