17 '' HP Pavilion: upgrade HP Pavilion - Socket FCBGA1170 - 4 core CPU N3700 @ 1.60 GHz

I have a 17 "HP Pavilion notebook with an Intel Pentium CPU N3700 @ 1.60 GHz on a Socket BGA1170, with 4 cores and Max TDP of 6W with 8 GB of RAM with Windows 10.

I find this combination very slow and walked if I could switch the CPU to a faster? I look forward to your recommendations

Another consideration is the upgrade of the standard SATA 1 TB HD HTS541010A9E680 to a 1 TB SSD. Or would it be too expensive.

Thanking you in advance for your answers.

Fred

We do not have your exact model, but on most of the Trail Bay models I've seen (series N processors Pentium and Celeron) the processor is soldered to the motherboard and there is no distinct ability to change the processor. FCBGA1170 means that it is a Ball Grid Array which means welded on. 1 TB SSD are about $300-380.

Hello. How much Ram can my old HP pavilion manage processor Intel pentium Dual core CPU T3400 @2.16 Ghz. currently with 2 GB of RAM, running Win 7 (32-bit)? Thank you.

    From the Manual:

2 customer accessible/upgradable memory module slots

    Supports dual-channel memory

Supports up to 4 GB of RAM

    Support PC2-6400, 800 MHz and DDR2 PC2-5300 667 MHz, DDR2

Up to 4 GB memory DDR2-667 or DDR2-800

If you stick with 32-bit Windows your system properties will show something between 3 and 3.5 GB of available memory. The processor is capable of a 64 bit OS.

  • Pavilion G6 - 2210SA Intel Core: CPU Upgrade g6 2210SA

Are there updates available for my laptop?

I'll pass the HD and memory, so if there is a faster processor available, it would be good to do it together.

    Thanks for any help, David.

Yes you can here is the Manual:

    Manual

The manual lists these 2, which are faster than your 2.5 ghz i5 - 3210M:

Intel Core i7-3632QM (2.2 GHz, turbo SC up to 3.1 GHz, 1600 MHz/6 MB cache L3, quad core, 35 W)

    Intel Core i5 - 3230M (2.6 GHz, turbo SC up to 3.1 GHz, 1600 MHz/3 MB L3 cache, dual core, 35 W)

The i5 - 3230M is faster so not worth the effort or expense seulement.1 ghz but the i7-3632QM would be an update is worthwhile, but always brings a price more high about $200-250 on eBay and through room houses. Too much money in my opinion. Your call. Let me know if you want me to help you find one at the best price possible.

Save money and get a SSD drive. Also much easier to install. The processor you have isn't bad.

  • Pavilion 17-e020us: upgrade of processor on HP Pavilion e020us 17 with Core i3 - 3110M

    Hello

I woud like to upgrade the processor in my HP Pavilion notebook e020us 17.  It currently has an Intel Core i3 processor - 3110 m dual-core clocked at 2.40 GHz.  I realize that upgrading the processor in my model means also I need a new motherboard and heatsink of heat, and I'm ready to replace the parts too.

I'm looking for a quad-core processor that can run at more than 3 GHz (it's OK if the base frequency is less, so that it can Turbo / be overclocked to over 3 GHz).

If it helps, I know that the current laptop processor TDP is 35W; When I'm upgrading, I'm looking to improve performance (I don't care if it lowers the battery life and uses more energy).  The laptop currently is not a battery (that it came with death), and it's the one he used: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-47WH-HP-Pavilion-PI06-14-E000-15-E000-710416-001-HSTNN-UB4N-Battery...  .  The reason why I mention this is that some new mobile processors, like this: http://ark.intel.com/products/88972/Intel-Core-i7-6920HQ-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-3_80-GHz, consume more energy, but have better performance.  Can I get a processor like this one that consumes more energy, but is more powerful (that one would work?)?  If so, what other parts that would replace?

If you need to know anything else about the specs of the laptop, you can find it here: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03782483.

So, who's the best processor I can update that fits my needs (see the second paragraph), regardless of the cost?  What other components should I buy?  Links for what I need would be great!

Thank you very much to all who have responded.

    Hello

There is a list of CPUS to support for the series on page #2 of the Service Guide and Maintenance in the following link:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-17-notebook-PC-series/5375409/model/5395210/manuals

Please don't ask why mw but go to page 85 to get the right for selected CPU part number and order of HP. The document also shows you how to replace the CPU.

And if you ask my why, my answer: in many cases, we allowed HP part number, buyning also the chance to make it work is 50-50.

    Kind regards.

I don't know about other issues. There are always 'problems' with any upgrade. You weigh against the benefits. I know that you need more RAM. At least 4 GB, maybe more if you can. Don't forget that this system is produced at a time when most of the machines have + 8 GB RAM and when Apple said 'minimum' they really mean it.  I recently inherited a MacBook that has 2 GB of RAM and the Mavericks. When I checked the memory, the use of the system was using 1.95 GB = nothing to run applications!

  • Create a VM - virtual Sockets vs virtual cores

I don't know where to post this.

I'm a bit confused on when you create a virtual machine, you now get an option to choose the number of sockets or cores. IE 4 Socket 1 kernel, or 2 taken 2 hearts.

I've heard different reasons to different vmware trainers

Since then, it is only for the licenses that it does not matter. Must match your numa configuration or you'll have performance problems.

Me I always thought it was just 4 cores for vm - little matter how he got there.

Could someone explain this to me please.

    Hello

    NUMA configuration affects your performance.

  • Pavilion g6 - 2217cl: the HP Pavilion g6 - 2217cl RAM and CPU/GPU upgrade

    Hey there, I am looking to upgrade the RAM and CPU/GPU on my G6 Pavilion. Here's my current characteristics;

    Laptop model: HP Pavilion G6 - 2217cl

    Operating system: Windows 10 family (x 64)

Current RAM: 6 GB (used 2 slots)

CPU/GPU: AMD A8 - 4500 APU with Radeon HD graphics card

What are the possibilities should I upgrade?

If more information is needed, I'll be happy to provide.

It supports up to 8 GB of memory and the processor can be upgraded to a 10 - 4600M. Here is the Manual:

    Manual

There is no video card to upgrade, but for the models of series AMD A video is contained in the processor itself and an upgrade of the processor also carries with it an upgrade for HD 7640 G HD 7660 G video. It's light but a bit noticeable and clock speed go from 2.8 ghz to 3.2 ghz, which is not huge but noticeable. Memory is a DDR3-1600 module, and you can replace your 2 gig with a 4 gig to spend 6 to 8.

Memory upgrade is as easy as... CPU/APU don't upgrade not so much.
