Keyboard shortcut to move a window between two monitors instead of drag and drop.

I want a quick way to move a window from one monitor to the other in a double configuration monitor without having to drag the window with the mouse. This is particularly useful for full screen windows since to move, I have to exit full screen, catch them with the mouse and drag them to the other monitor. Ideally, I want something I can do with a keyboard shortcut.

I don't know if this exists, I couldn't find it in a list of keyboard shortcuts. I think it would be an improvement for anyone to use multiple monitors which has good reason to need do to switch between several programs. Since windows looks at multiple monitors and identifies each in the settings of customization like 1, 2, 3, etc, it would make the most sense for me to have one high and one low. So if I have a window screen 2, I can hit a keyboard shortcut to move it to the same spot on monitor 1 (low) or monitor 3 (upwards).

Maybe it exists in form some and I don't find it not, but if not I think it would be very useful, especially for anyone doing graphic design or programming work.

(Also I filled out the form for that matter like windows 7, which is what I use at home, but he put it under the XP forum since that is what the computer I write from is running on.)

Use the following key combination to switch between screens.

"Windows key + SHIFT + key.

Detailed instructions:
Press in and hold the Windows key and then add and hold down the SHIFT key. While now hold both hit the left or right arrow key to move the current active window left or right.

  • Keyboard shortcut to minimize maximized windows

    On the site:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/keyboard-shortcuts

It lists the following under "keyboard Windows logo key" keyboard shortcut
    keyboard shortcuts:

Windows logo key + arrow down = minimize the window.

However, if the window is maximized when this keyboard shortcut is used, the
window is restored down, not minimized. Of course, you can simply press on the
keyboard shortcut to minimize the window, but when you go back to
This window, it will not be maximized, meaning you have an extra step
It maximizes. Yes, to the best of my knowledge, measures to minimize and
    then remaximizing a window are:

1 restore down: Windows logo key + down arrow
2 minimize: Windows logo key + down arrow
    3. Select window: logo Windows + Tab key (or one of the other main
combinations that can be used to select an open program)
    4. optimize: touch of the Windows logo + up arrow

Obviously not a difficult process or complicated, but I expect
    being close to:

1 minimize: Windows logo key + down arrow
    2. Select window: logo Windows + Tab key (or one of the other main
combinations that can be used to select an open program)

And it would be if the Windows logo key + shortcut keyboard down arrow
always minimize the window. I am happy that there is a way to restore
but y at - it a keyboard shortcut that minimizes a window maximized?
    Thank you.

    Hello Nathan Sokalski,.

The closest you can get use Windows + M, which will minimize all windows.

Although you can use Windows + D (display the desktop). You use this shortcut will allow you to use Windows + D now show the last window before the display of the desktop computer.

    Hope this helps

    Hi Robert,.

Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.

You mentioned in the post that your laptop is configured with an additional monitor.

I would be grateful if you can provide us with the following information to help us better understand the issue.

This problem can occur because of incorrect settings for multiple display.

There are a several screens to move windows between multiple monitors.

  • Creates shortcuts to folders via SHIFT-CTRL/Drag-And-Drop is no longer supported in Windows 7 (64 bit)?

In Windows Vista, there are two possibilities to create a shortcut to a folder by drag - move different combinations of keys by drag-and - drop:

'ALT'-key: create a normal shortcut (a double-click on this shortcut navigates to the linked folder)
"SHIFT-CTRL"-key: creates a shortcut file (junction; "." the folder appears as a subfolder of the folder of its container)

In Windows 7, it is only possible to create normal shortcuts. 'SHIFT-CTRL' / drag-and-drop doesn't seem to work in Windows 7. Only, it behaves in the same way as 'ALT' / drag-and-drop.

    My observation is correct?
Is it possible to activate Vista-like behavior in Windows 7 (for example, by editing the registry)?

    A few notes:

Shortcuts to files that have been created previously with Windows Vista are always managed properly in Windows 7 (i.e., they appear as subfolders).

The expected behavior of drag-and-drop works correctly when deleting in the folder "...\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Network shortcuts" (However, creating normal shortcuts via "ALT" - key is not possible in the shortcut 'network' - folder).

Creating a shortcut to folder in "Network shortcut" and then moving in an arbitrary folder shortcut works as expected. Currently, it is the only workaround I know.

Thank you very much for your answer!

  • How to import or drag and drop photos into Windows Live Movie Maker?

I'm unable to either import or drag and drop photos into Windows Live Movie Maker.  I just finished a movie and when I try to open a new project, I click on "Add photos and video", taking me to 'my pictures', but when I try to open him "add photos and video", the "file name" has so much history, it doesn't allow me to click on the location of my file.  How can I get rid of this story?  The first film was so easy, but this new project has been up to this impossible after about 7 hours of attempts.  Help, please!

    Hi Anniebp2,

I think perhaps the best next step after all your efforts of trying to fix the program.  For this, since it is part of the Windows Essentials pack, you can go to the page Windows Essentials and re - download and re-install the package, which will update and fix the movie maker if necessary. I hope that this solves the problem for you. Please let me know how it goes.

You most certainly can.  The same provisions still apply: If you try to drag an image file in Notepad, for example, it won't allow him, as always.
