2 apparently valid csrss.exe files

I have 2 versions of the csrss. running exe file. I seem to have one different problem than others with this issue. In the Task Manager: show the user as 'System', both under Win32, the two will allow me to complete the process, but I get the BSOD with the two, in the properties they are exactly the same... even the same install date. It uses 1-2 mb while another uses 5-6 mb, shows 0 cpu. Only reason why I checked, is that I have installed a new virus protector that won't start. Their support has called for one is a Trojan horse that weaken their software. Everything else seems OK, no slow downs or software problems. Operating system is Win7 64 bit.

You get a csrss.exe plus one for each connected user. You will also have an another csrss.exe conhost.exe running if you start a command prompt.

This confirms my suspicions you have (or had) malware. This version of csrss.exe is for service Pack 2 of Windows XP.
You really need to run MBAM.
But despite this, if you run at the SP2 level, it is unclear what might make its way onto your PC. There are some out there extremely difficult to detect rootkits. You find you might need to perform a clean installation. If you would rather fight infection, you can always look for guided help:
  • Csrss.exe file in the Task Manager without a user name or to the description

I was told by a Yahoo tech, which was supposed to come back to me in my locked e-mail account, that it is a virus. I did some checking and found a response (from the forum) who said: if I'm trying to complete the process and get a warning window pop up, it's a legitimate file (I get the window). If I right click on it, nothing comes. Has verified the Virus, malware check, used the scanner Microsoft and even a (Speed up PC) supposed to get rid of this (if it is a virus), all come out clean. Yet, the guy from Yahoo (I called once again, argues that it is a virus. I'm confused, ideas?

    Hello

Csrss.exe is a Windows file that is stored in the directory c:\windows\system32 which corresponds to the description of the file: "Client Server Runtime process.

The csrss.exe file included with Microsoft Windows is not spyware, a Trojan or a virus. However, as any file on your computer, it can be damaged by a virus, worm or Trojan. Antivirus programs can detect and clean this file if it has been infected.

It is not safe to remove csrss.exe processes from the Task Manager. Csrss.exe is a critical system process may not be withdrawn without causing problems with Windows in Task Manager.

    Hello

    1. don't you make changes to the computer before that happened?

Csrss.exe is an essential component of the Microsoft windows operating system. It stands for Microsoft Client/Server Runtime Server Subsystem. This process is responsible for dealing with the majority of the windows interface.

I suggest you to try the steps below and check if it helps.

    Method 1:

Try to put your computer in a clean boot state, and check to see if the same problem happens.

By setting your boot system minimum state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After the boot minimum troubleshooting step, follow step 7 in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.

    Method 2:
The problem can also be caused by your security such as anti-virus program or a firewall of Windows /Defender that can have conflicting parameters as to not not to perform certain tasks. I suggest you temporary disable antivirus and firewall and check the result again.

    Disable the antivirus software:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/disable-antivirus-software

Important note: Be sure to enable the security software and firewall on the computer after checking.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Questions about csrss.exe

I have two questions on the process 'csrss.exe' running Vista Business 32 b SP2.

    1. In a variety of sites on the web, I read that having two processes csrss.exe running is an indication that a virus or malware are present, posing as one of the two images csrss.exe in memory.  If I bring up the Task Manager and a quick glance, I see only a single process csrss.exe (PID = 652, private memory = 1332K.  Field name of the image, the command line path and Description are white). However, if I hit the button "Show processes from all users", a second process csrss.exe appears, on PID = 596, private memory = 1200K (PID = 652 is now using 1 412 K or private working set memory).  No process uses any CPU at the moment, as far as I know.  Both display the same values following the different fields in the table:

      • Username = SYSTEM
      • Name=C:\Windows\System32\csrss.exe image path
      • Line=C:\Windows\system32\csrss.exe command ObjectDirectory = \Windows SharedSection = 1024, 12288, 512 Windows = SubSystemType = Windows ServerDll = basesrv, 1 ServerDll = winsrv:UserServerDllInitialization, 3 ServerDll = winsrv. ConserverDllInitialization, 2 = Off MaxRequest ProfileControl
      • Description = Client Server Runtime Process

When I researched the csrss.exe file c:\ system, I found the following files csrss.exe. 'Properties' information after each. None of these files listed all the previous versions tab "Previous Versions":

      C:\Windows\System32\csrss.exe:

File Client Server Runtime process Type Application version 6.0.6001.18000 file Description product name of the Microsoft Windows Operating System version 6.0.6001.18000 Copyright Microsoft Corporation product. In addition, here are the MD5 signatures for each file:

      c:\Windows\System32\csrss.exe abca209eba02cb59233614db83b4f50d c:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-csrss_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6001.18000_none_58e3e3d7e415ae4c\csrss.exe abca209eba02cb59233614db83b4f50d c:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-csrss_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6000.16386_none_56ad21dbe72a9d78\csrss.exe 117b7c8a8b026a5dce5e3180ed05e823

So the new version is identical in both of its directories. But there is an older version (6.0.6000.16386) hang out there.

One last thing: when I look into a review process advantage 3rd, 596 PID and PID 652 tool appear as:

      Version 6.0.6001.18000 time: 2008-01-19 03:33

And when I run the equivalent of the UNIX 'strings' command against them, I find that both contain the following (among others):

      version = "5.1.0.0.

Is this normal? Or do I have to remove the old file csrss.exe?

    2. Csrss.exe does need access to the wider internet, or only certain addresses in the range of the internet on my home network behind my firewall/router; or only the loopback address?  Because Zonealarm says sometimes csrss.exe is asked for internet access. And when I allow it, it okays two access my local network and to the internet as a whole.  This behavior is normal? For now, I have disabled access to the wider internet of csrss.exe, and I'm limiting access to machines behind my firewall. I would like to be able to restrict it to my loopback address.  Nothing wrong with that?
    Thank you!

  • I see CSRSS:EXE no CSRSS. EXE in the Manager of tasks/processes.

The Task Manager shows a curiously named similar to csrss.exe process but has a colon (:)) in place the dot (.).) This is what is coming: csrss:exe

I can't find its location far, when I click on 'End process' standard task manager warning appears on other processes might be affected, but if nothing else.   Search came with the help of two default folders with this csrss.exe.mui which although similar, has the (.) not the colons (:)).

  • When I open the Task Manager and select "Show processes from all users" there are 2 files virus csrss.exe?

    original title: virus csrss.exe?

I use Vista Home Premium.  When I open the Task Manager and select "Show processes from all users" there are 2 files csrss.exe.  I learned that this indicates that I was infected by a virus.  Is this the case?

    Hi Julie,.

Did you the latest changes on the system?

Csrss.exe is Client/Server Runtime Subsystem.  All the Microsoft system has file csrss.exe running in the Task Manager, but it is likely to be infected by others. If it uses a lot of time processor and extremely abnormal in activities in the Task Manager, you can run a scan of the system security.

You can read the following article to download the Microsoft Safety Scanner and perform a full scan on your computer.

    Microsoft safety scanner

Note: When you perform the analysis, there are chances of losing the data that you can take a backup of important data before performing analysis.

  • Each single Exe file that I want to run is not a valid application 32 for a reason any. Please help me!

I searched the internet on how to solve this problem on my own but finally I'm looking for help because I have tried most of the things and the result is null.

    1. no doubt the main cause looks like either virus, malware, causing this problem (but I am able to get online and speed has no place at all)

    2. does not have anti-virus software. The one I got was off license and I uninstalled it and now I'm not able to run any exe file. It does not matter whether the file is to drive HARD, CD or downloaded from the internet.

    3. I am able to open the Task Manager and the registry. And someone says online to check specific registry values and adjust the settings for a default value, but he was already there... which means register is not performed.

Well, I know that there should be a solution for me, but I don't know what it takes right now. Impossible to restore even, is not a previous restore point.

I suspect that you have an infection, but take a look at the various reasons and solutions herehttp://en.kioskea.net/faq/1591-exe-is-not-a-valid-win32-application

  • "not a win32 application valid" I see this error for most .exe files

I used win7 evaluation copy (x 86). Then I format my laptop with the ultimate win7 (x 64). But now when I try to set up a file, it gives the error: "... not a valid win32 application." some of the extension .exe files work fine, but mainly I struggle with .exe files. And sometimes, there is also a CRC error occurs.

I try to format it again with my old vista(x86) recovery cd but I have seen the same problem. and then I tried win7 x 64 again. but there is always the same problem. I also tried to download the files that I wanted in the Setup program, but it does not solve the problems.

    How should I know?

  • Programmatically move EXE file to RT-target and change the INI to start the EXE when restarting. Then the target restart RT.

    I'm trying to:

    1. download the rtexe on the target in real time
    2. download the file or - rt.ini of the RT target on the local disk
    3. change the RTApp.StartupApplication path to POINT to newly downloaded rtexe
    4. download the ini file edited to target RT
    5 reset
    6. the new rtexe should start to run

When manually deploy the application of RT through the Project Explorer and manually restart the target RT works very well.

However if I follow the steps above using the attached VI, to restart it does not start the EXE and loses the connection with the RT.

When I try to reconnect, he said:

"Errors were detected in the log of the target when connecting to the target:

LabVIEW: (Hex 0x63B) target the RT has not enough memory to load the startup application. »

Now why is there enough memory when the EXE is deployed through the Project Explorer, but not enough when the EXE file is moved manually?

If there is an easier process or to achieve this goal, please suggest.

    Thank you

Problem solved.  Problem was never in the INI file.

Apparently using FTP "FTP Store Multiple.vi" used to move the file EXE to the rt to intimidate target must change the file somehow. Instead I just use the FTP "Put several files.vi" and everything works fine.
