2 capsules of time in a network

My current Apple products (iMac (10.11.4), iPhones, iPads (9.3.1)) are related to my Time capsule (TC) purchased in 2010. In some places in my house, I have sometimes poor wifi connections.

I've read about the new 2 TB and 3 TB TC these opinions have a lot better/more strong wifi.

I consider buy a 2 to TC and install this additional my only current.

My question is: can I connect my new TC to my modem, same as my original and create this way two wifi networks?

The original TC will be used for clients, the other as a private network and for backup (Time Machine).

Thanks for any help. Best regards, Erik

Yes, what you want to do is not difficult at all.

You can simply use airport utility to replace an existing TC... and which will also reset the current factory. You can then reinstall it in the network for customers. However not as wireless reviews, unless the main TC's router full and invited active wireless.

If you use clients in a more generic way... Then it's fine.

Give us details and we can help with installation.

If you want to make sure that you will be able to get the Apple support in case of problems or questions with your backups, you must use the wireless Time Capsule to back up your Mac.

As long as the time Capsule provides a wireless signal, you can decide who to your 'main' network, then use it wireless Uverse for "guest", or children. If you do not need the Uverse router/modem wireless at all, it is possible to turn off wireless on the device and make it work only as a support modem/router...with Uverse wired.

At this point, you can start thinking about how you want to configure things and get back in touch if you need some advice on how to do it.  We need to know what operating system that uses the Mac that you normally use to administer the time Capsule, provide good instructions, if you need it.

If the Time Capsule and MacBook Pros are not on the same network, the MacBook is not backup in the time Capsule. You probably see what snapshots leaving MacBook on the local disk, until the two are reconnected. If you don't want that to happen, disable Time Machine on a different network.

    Good day.

  • Time Capsule on Time Machine goes wrong

Using Time Capsule with Time Machine backup.  How can I erase the Time Machine backup and make a new, full backup.  I have two clones, just in case where.

Open Airport on your Mac, Dave utility, click on the image of the Capsule, and then Edit in the pop-up window, finally, go to the disk tab and you will find the function delete . Once completed, you can return to Time Machine and launch a full backup once more?

  • Time capsules can extend a Netgear network

A time Capsule can be used to expand a network of Wi - Fi Nighthawk Netgear router X 6 AC3200 Tri - Band (R8000)?

The best answer we could provide... as you do not specify if you intend to "extend" the Netgear using Ethernet or Wi - Fi connection... would be Yes and no.

Yes, if you connect the Capsule on the Netgear router using a wired Ethernet cable connection, permanently.

No, if you think you have the time Capsule only connect to the Netgear wireless network.

  • Extension of wireless network with 2 capsules of time falls internet router

I have a fiber broadband from the Danish supplier, TDC. A port on the router, I connected a TimeCapsule 1 generation and one of its ports, I have a cable to a new TimeCapsule in another room. The first TC is set to create a wireless network and the new TC is set to extend a wireless network. Both are on the same wireless name and password and both have the clipping value. This is according to the instructions that I found here on the forum.

HOWEVER. When you use this router configuration mentioned above keeps falling and interruption of the Internet connection. What could happen?

If I let the TCs create two wireless router maintains a stable Internet connection.

On each TimeCapsule, there are a number of devices connected to their respective ports. All IP are chosen by DHCP. I assume that the router is the only DHCP server and that the CHT are not IP for connected devices.

Any help to solve this is appreciated.

To connect nr2 nr1 TC but not the TDC router. The ports on the TC are just parallel connectors (except the one that connects the modem). Then you must set both to create a network: you have two networks.

Then give them the same name and password (or not, what you want).

When you want to extend the network, do not connect the cable to the nr2, but you should put nr2 where he received the Wifi of nr1 and then extend it. This also works, but is much less bandwidth.

  • Cannot remove old Time Capsule for time Machine destinations

My MacBook Pro moves with me between my home office and the different clients that I visit. At home, Time Machine backs up a volume of Time Machine on my Xserve served to the network by OS X Server. I guess that for the Mac it looks like a Time Capsule, although in my case, it's a RAID 5 with 12 TB of capacity.

The problem, when I connect to one network other than my home network. As you can see, the window from system preferences Time Machine offer 'Time Machine backup on 'Dominik AirPort Extreme' network', which is not actually present on any network. When I go home, Time Machine continues to try to save this destination does not exist and does not back up the volume on my Xserve. I have to manually switch for my Mac starting the backup on the Xserve again.

How can I make my Mac forget this volume forever? A couple of system reinstalls, to the end that I use the Migration Wizard to copy the configuration of the system from a backup, have not helped.

On the computer of my wife as a backup destination appears, the good pair:

This simple procedure will erase your settings of the time Machine, including the list of excluded items. The backups themselves will not be affected. If you have a long exclusion list that cannot be easily re-created, you may prefer a procedure more complicated that maintains the list. In this case, ask for instructions. If not, see below.

Please triple - click anywhere in the line below on this page to select:

    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.TimeMachine.plist

Right-click or Ctrl-click on the highlighted line and select

of the menu.* contextual A Finder window should open with a selected file. Copy the file to the desktop. Bring the original (not copy) to the trash. You will be asked for your administrator password.

Restart the computer and re-create your settings in the Time Machine preferences window. Falsely, it will show that you have no backups. Don't worry; your backups have not been affected.

Perform a backup to test. The backup can take much longer than usual. If TM now works as expected, delete the file that you copied to the desktop.

  • How to use Time Capsule with Time Machine and no Wifi

Situation.  Late 2009 iMac with OSX 10.7.5.  Used Airport Extreme since purchase in early 2010.  Use a modem cable from Arris SB 6141.  Decided to upgrade to 2 TB Time Capsule.  And the problems started.  I put TC in place... Finally, with the help of the people of this forum (thanks).  Transport CANADA does not have the internet connection to the Modem.  New to this forum I discovered that the TC does not like the SB6141.  So I put the Airport Extreme in the network and work like a charm wireless.

Now, how can I connect the TC to the network or the Mac to use the part Time Machine?

I tried to put the TC in Airport Extreme with an ethernet cable.  First, the iMac would not recognize the local network by removing printers and the other external USB drive; and my TV got confused on what wifi network with the same name in which to connect.

Before I hit the reset button on the time Capsule I tried to ask what would be the right steps.

Thanks to the folks on this forum. Thanks for your help.  Hope you all a good holiday this year.

You should not have really big questions on Lion.

Connect the WAN of TC port on the ethernet port LAN AE.

Configure the TC in bridge. I disable the wireless to EI and let it run in the TC... that's much better work in this configuration.

The Mac that will backup must really be connected to the TC in direct wireless or ethernet... This will help loads.

The wireless work better on the TC... If it isn't, then you can swap EI... but I'd be surprised if that was the case.

  • Time machine on network not connection

So, I just had to get a new cable from drive hard installed today after an update failed due Sierra said cable.  In any case, I got the MacBook comes with a new cable and a new installation of Sierra.  I plugged the time directly to her Machine and did a migration assistant restored.  I then put back on my Mini in a network as it was before and tried to Time Machine a backup just to test and got this error

Keychain-25299 error when creating a system keychain to the user name "Jeremy Blanchard" entry and the URL "afp://Jeremy%20Blanchard@Jeremy%20Blanchard%E2%80%99s%20Mac%20mini._afpovertcp._tcp.local/Time%20Machine%20Backups".

Anyone has any ideas on what to do?  It shows up as a drive, I made sure I used (same wrong password) and open Keychain Access and check passwords in there to make sure they are correct.  Any other ideas on what to do to get my backups Time Machine working again would be greatly appreciated.

When you are doing a Migration Wizard restore but use a reformatted hard disk it can spoil the UUID of naming and more complicated things. But how that is the origin of keychain problems, I'm not sure.

My advice is to just get a new drive and start again. Make a clean backup costs and I think it should work.

Post again if you have any questions.

  • Connect 2 capsules of time?

I just bought a second time capsule and I was wondering if it would be possible for me to connect it to my first time capsule in the same way that people add flash drives or other external drives for storage?

I have not seen much about it online, so I think it is not taken in charge, but thought I would ask. Thank you!

If the second Capsule will be located near the first time Capsule, two devices can connect together using wired Ethernet wired, permanent.

If the second Time Capsule will be a room or two away from the first time Capsule, so in addition to a wired Ethernet cable connection, the second time Capsule could connect to the first Cordless use.

The wired connection method will produce more efficient that the wireless, then this would be the type of connection to use recommended, if possible.

The Setup program for the second Time Capsule is different according to the connection method that you choose, so if you need further advice on the Board to the top of the second time Capsule, we need clarification on the method you choose in addition to the information on the current operating system who have installed on your Mac.

  • A Mac, two Capsules of time with different backups

I have a second gen Time Capsule, which contains my Time Machine backup. I recently bought a 5th generation Time Capsule with the intention to create a new backup, but also be able to keep intact the first.

I need to be able to release all the space of my MacBook Pro, but also want to be able to access it on the backup of the second generation of TC, but have the 5th generation TC be my new backup every day.

I was wondering how to fix this without screwing up my current data?

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

You can do what you want.

Copy the sparsebundle to the old TC to the new... and rename it so it does not interfere with the backup.

Our experience has been to advise against it. Especially it wastes just space.

I need to be able to release all the space of my MacBook Pro, but also want to be able to access it on the backup of the second generation of TC, but have the 5th generation TC be my new backup every day.

If you move files to the TC 2nd Gen, they will be totally lost when the TC fails, which could be tomorrow... it should have been 5 years ago. They proved unreliable due to the overheating and poor diet.

Strongly recommend against it doing so.

Copy your files on a USB connected directly to the laptop. You can then run a backup through TM to the new TC.

The old TC is not worth including somehow.

  • How can I save a USB on my time capsule with time machine?

    Hello

I just bought an external USB flash/thumb drive, believing I could extend the memory of my currently complete macbook (OS X 10.7.5), while maintaining an up-to-date backup of everything on my Time Capsule. (I was planning on dumping my pictures/videos on the new USB and free up space on my macbook).

I already formatted the flash drive USB is now 'Mac OS external (journaled). I then tried to remove the exclusion of preferences list flash drive Time Machine (by selecting 'options' and then selecting the '-' button to remove the disc highlighted). He appears to remove the USB key at this point and allows me to save and close the options box, however it is always not backup external USB drive on a Time Capsule format.

Subsequently, on rechecking the box Option Time Machine preferences, the disc that I just removed from the exclusion list, is back on the list!

The impression that I'm going in circles... Is there something that I am missing, or another way to automatically back up this drive?

    Thank you very much.

First of all, unless you intend to keep the reader flash connected all the time, is really no interest in what you want to do. Simply copy the data from a backup other than the Time Machine backup disk drive.

  • Capsule full time as his double registered an external drive

    Hello

I have a standard mac 500 GB and a separate external drive from Seagate.  The Seagate has itunes and is probably 500 GB used out of 2 TB. The Mac is probably 350 GB full.  These two back up to a 2 TB Timecapsule. Its been fortunately backup for awhile but some how seems to have saved double the seagate as well its economy to its full.

So, I need to restore the Timecapsule to delete the previous info and copy information that is held on the Seagate and Mac.

I had a glance through some of the headings on the Airport utility, but can't see all the options. I wouldn't say I'm tech savvy.  All advice would be great.

    Thank you

You say here that you want to clear the contents of the Time Capsule hard drive and start over with new backups of your Mac and the Seagate drive attached to the Mac?

If this is the case, I suppose you understand that you will lose your backup history of the Mac and Seagate drive when you do this, since tit Time Capsule disk will be wiped clean when it is cleared.

    Please confirm.

  • Could not find the Time Capsule for Time Machine backup drive

My iMac is running El Capitan and Time Machine is unable to find the Time Capsule backup drive.  I blew the backup several times in hopes that it will fix the problem.   The only thing I found which will allow a return to the top is to unplug the Time Capsule and plug it in again.  The work around works only once, then it's back to "can't find the backup disk.

For anyone a cela or similar questions are you go in your Utilities folder (in your applications folder) and run the utility airport to see what he says about the disks attached. This cannot work for the readers of time capsule Apple rather than third party readers who have been designated as the backup time drives machine.

  • time synchronization a network working group

I have an interesting situation. I'm in a casino environment, and I got a task force made up of surveillance equipment which must have their time synchronized with the same source as our network.  The surveillance system has no access to the internet.  I have a computer that is running Windows XP that has two NIC cards, one for the field and one for the working group. VCRs are running Windows 7 Professional 32-bit. How can I synchronize time on video recorders on the computer in the domain with 2 NIC cards?

I tried a file of commands with the following commands, but still get an erro that either says "RPC server not found" or something on the parameters:

    w32tm/config/manualpeerlist:192.168.1.35,0x8/syncfromflags:manual
    w32tm/config/update
    net stop w32time
    net start w32time
