2 ESXi hosts... Nor can see each stores data to other hosts

All, morning

I have a little problem with a cluster of 2 servers ESXi 4.1.  They are connected to a VC and Enterprise Plus license.

We have about 15 stores of data, called san01, san02,... san15.  ESXi hosts, we'll call it ESXi-01 an ESXi-02.  As I said - they are in an active HA with DRS cluster.  They are part of a disaster recovery test, we are performing.  For some reason, only the host on which each data store has been added (add storage, select LUNS, use the existing signature) can use this store.  It does not appear when a new analysis VMFS on another host (or automatically as it should).  If you try to import the same LUN to host opposed when it is already mapped to the one, the only available option is to reformat the partition, which is not good as there are a several machines on each Lun.

So now I have a host with san2, 3, 5, 7 & 9 and all the others are on the other host.  Of course, they are unable to balance the load using vMotion & DRS.  It makes me crazy - any suggestions please?

Just FYI, the hosts are the IBM HS22 blade, cards QLogic FC and the SAN is a unit of IBM XIV.  In our main site (live), we have a XIV with all LUNS alive and running on a cluster of 12 ESX4 host.  The data is replicated on the XIV in our disaster recovery site using the iSCSI Protocol and the links were broken between the 2 sites at the beginning of the excersise, allowing data replicated to our Dr site must be set to read/write and connected to hosts via FC.  Both hosts use the same configuration as the other and have the same drive mappings to the SAN.

Look forward to hearing your ideas!

Dave.

As I understand it, the issue could be caused by the LUNS being recognized as LUN snapshot (see the ESXi host logs)

In this case, you could try to force mount the LUNS. See http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1011387

Store Windows 8 - I can see the store and apps on it, but I can't access my account or download apps. Help!

When I click an app I want to download, there is no button 'install' on the page.

Then I tried to click on 'my account', 'my applications', 'my preferences', etc, and all I get is this point indirect image that turns on in perpetuity.

I tried the diagnostics as suggested on the community pages but got no where with it. What should I do?

    Help!

    Hi jojo

You would not believe what happened.

The problem got worse. Subsequently, the system refused to even give me a sign on another wifi network other than that I'm a.

I leave the matter for a few weeks before I turned on the laptop.

I showed that I needed the Microsoft updates, after which the laptop worked like nothing happened.

Its a mystery of technology that I will never understand.

    Thanks for your help!

  • A computer can see devices multimedia, while the other computer cannot

My Vista laptop can see my my Linksys Media Center Extender and Blu - Ray player in the "Network" window, but my Vista desktop does not see them.  Vista computers can "see" each other very well.  I can also ping the devices of media from the desktop.  The Office has been able to see two devices without any problem.  I tried to disable the Windows Firewall and AVG Anti-virus.  The two computers are running the same antivirus.  No luck.  What I forget?

Well, just after I wrote this, I restarted once more (on the third or fourth time this afternoon), and now everything works.  I can't explain it.  I guess I will come back to this post if the problem comes back.  I guess I should add that I don't connect until the computer was sitting on the screen for 10 minutes at least (by chance), rather than the usual immediate connection.  Maybe another service needs time to start until I entered my password.

  • How can I reinstall / store data recovery an ESXi 4.1 lost during an upgrade to 5.5?

I was running a host of ESXi 4.1 on a Dell T110 II with two RAID, a managed arrays by the controller integrated RAID that contained the system of ESXi and a small data store (channel) and the other controlled by a 6405e Adaptec controller which contained my main data store (BunkerHill). In the process of upgrading from 4.1 to ESXi 5.5, I forgot to include the drivers for the Adaptec 6405e controller and even if the upgrade of the host, he did not see the BunkerHill data store.

I downloaded and installed the VIB for the controller 6405e and after restart the host ESXi 5.5 shows the Adaptec RAID under storage adapters, but the BunkerHill data store is still not visible and all virtual machines guests appearing on this show as unknown in the inventory. The channel data store and two invited VMS it holds are visible. Below a part of the kernel log is filtered on the RAID controller device name.

I would like to get the recognizable BunkerHill data store before continuing the upgrade and would be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction (KB article, display, etc. that explains what I do). I need to reinstall 4.1 on the work of RAID (ESXi 5.5 and channel data bank) and then trying to reconnect the main data store, or are there changes I can do from the console to manually get the market things?

    Tips are appreciated,

    Thank you

  • All network devices can see each other + Windows 7 computer, but machine Windows 7 can not see them

Hello. Under the network of my machine Windows 8 folder, I can see all the devices on the network. This includes a printer, my computer Windows 7 (what I can access), an Apple TV (from special software), a wireless hard drive, the router and a digital recorder.

The Windows 7 machine, I can only see the router and the printer. On special software, the Apple TV does not either. When you perform the Windows 8 computer host as a server for the special software, the Windows 7 machine could not see it on the special software. This means that there is something wrong on the Windows 7 this machine is not allowing him to detect other devices.

In a game of LAN, Windows 7 and Windows 8 computers can't see each other.

All devices are on the internet and I am posting this from the Windows 7 machine right now.

Windows 7 and Windows 8 machine are on the same network.

No device is on a host group and the group home service is disabled.

    Peer networking is enabled.

    Network discovery is turned on.

Both connections are set to private/Home.

Originally, the Windows 7 machine has been on his own home group and could be seen by anything. After a few hours, I finally got out of the home group, how other devices could see him then. However, he cannot always see other devices.

How can I get the Windows 7 machine to see other devices? I am at a loss. Is there a service that I have disabled right now that needs to be enabled? I don't know what to do.

    Hello

    Please contact Microsoft Community.

Disable the security software and check.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software

Warning: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Also check out the link below and check if that helps.

  • How can I separate the dialogue of downloads and bookmarks in the library box so I can see each one separately and at the same time as Firefox used to allow?

After the last update, placed Firefox download dialog box and bookmarks in the same dialog, which cannot see both at the same time. I can't find any option to separate the two. It's severely cramping my workflow. Can you tell me how I can see once more my download progress in a single window and my favorites in another?

You can view the new download manager in a tab by opening the words: download page and you can consider opening this page in a separate window.

  • Having trouble getting lists of reading is displayed on my iphone. I have already implemented the Division of the family and you can see the playlist on my other Mac (I have 2). Also, I have 2 iphones and cannot get the playlists will appear on the other.

    I have 2 macs. Let's call them A and B.

    Every Mac has an iPhone.

I want to share playlists on A Mac with iPhone attached to Mac B and did not

I have enabled the sharing of family and you can see the playlists of A Mac on Mac B

Were unable have them appear on the iPad or the iPhone connected to the Mac B

Have managed to see the playlists on the iphone connected to A Mac

    https://www.Apple.com/support/homesharing/getstarted/

    Read the guide carefully first.

Then, make sure you have the same Homeshaing account (Apple ID) entered A and b.

Enable sharing with in the preferences.

Each library should appear and look like an icon 'home' in the top left area of iTunes (on both A & B).

Select the library that has the playlist. Once the loading of the library, select the playlist view.

Select the playlist that you want to import.

Choose the area «...» "with your mouse and select"import playlist ".

The playlist must synchronize with the goal of Mac. Under the iPhone sync settings, choose the playlist you just imported, and then press 'sync '.

  • SG500 layer 3 - VLAN can see each other devices Vlan9 <>- Vlan13

    Hi all!

I guess I'm missing something simple here:

Basic configuration: two SG500 stacked switches in layer mode 3 who should do the routing. LANCOM WLC with access Internet COOL tied up in the trunk.

As for my understanding, I wouldn't be able to see Vlan13 of Vlan9 devices. But unfortunately, I don't have.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you!!!

The VLAN intercommunicates is because you have an IP address on the interface VLAN that will dynamically build a route on the switch.

As noted below, if you want to VLAN 9 to not see 13 or vice versa and ACL will be needed on the interface VLAN.

  • Get-datastore shows each store data twice

    Hi Admins,

I try to move the virtual machines in another data store using powershell.

    Move-vm servername - datastore iSCSI-vmfs04

Error message: Move-VM of the specified parameter "Datastore" expects a single value, but your criteria "iscsi-vmfs04" name matches several
    values.

If I run get-data warehouses, it returns:

    iSCSI-vmfs04

    iSCSI-vmfs04

    iSCSI-vmfs05

    iSCSI-vmfs05

    iSCSI-vmfs06

    iSCSI-vmfs06

Is my pathpolicy the problem? using RoundRobin.

Storage vmotion works fine if I use the GUI vCenter.

    Advice?

    See you soon,.

    Tyler

You have noticed that free space is not exactly the same for the two lines of the same data store.

Perhaps you have warehouses of data Ghost in your vCenter.

  • ESXi host sees no data store after the reboot

    Hi all

I'm new to the community and ESXi itself.  Everything has been working great until today when I rebooted my host.

I installed it on a Dell T110 server, we had in the back for testing.  It has a 250 GB HARD drive installed in the case.  ESXi installed fine and I had 220 GB or more storage at my disposal.  Multiple VM installed, and once again, everything seems to work properly.

Today, I wanted to activate usb passthrough for a Server 2008 VM I installed it, I went through the process and had to reboot the host at the end.

After the restart, he seems to have forgotten the HARD disk that is installed and is no longer, I see my store data or virtual machine access I had running.

There are a couple screenshots attachedthat screen what I see.

Thanks for any help or advice!

Is this the same controller that is attached to the 250 GB HARD drive? Passing the controller to the virtual computer may have unpresented it host, then you won't be able to access and to store configuration settings. Since this is a test system you can consider / try to run "Reset System Configuration" from the DCUI. If this does not work, you may need to reinstall ESXi of CD (the VMFS retaining of course data store).

  • Cannot add VMFS datastore to ESXi host

    Hi all

I have a problem with the CF 1 logical unit number which can be seen as a device through several paths on all 10 hosts in a cluster, but it appear as a data store VMFS on 6 of the hosts. Other LUNS of the same Bay appear correctly on all hosts. 10 guests see the LUN with the same LUN ID and all hosts are identical regarding the version of ESXi (5.0 Update 2), HBA and firmware models.

On the 4 hosts who can see the device but not the VMFS data store, it seems that he sees the LUN as a snapshot: 'list of snapshot storage vmfs esxcli' translates into:

    4f5e5cbb-a87cd2c6-86e9-d8d385f98034
    Volume name: LUN101_SAS2
    VMFS UUID: 4f5e5cbb-a87cd2c6-86e9-d8d385f98034
    Can mount: true
    Reason of mountability-United Nations:
    Can will: false
Reason for non-resignaturability: the volume is actively used
    County of measure pending: 1

The UUID VMFS above matches the UUID VMFS seen on 6 guests who can see the VMFS data store.

When I try to use 'Add storage', the device appears with a lambel VMFS: LUN101_SAS2(head). I don't know why (head) was added to the label of VMFS. Oscreen n the following signature to keep 'existing' and "Assign a new signature" options are grayed out. The only option is "Disc Format. I need to keep the existing signature because it run virtual machines that have their files .vmx and hard on this LUN.

Would the fact that I have virtual machines running on this LUN, I cannot choose the option to "keep the existing signature?

I need to Storage vMotion these virtual machines to a different LUN before I add the VMFS datastore to 4 guests?

    TIA

    Hey RoscoT;

    Try the following command

    #esxcfg - volume - l

    This should show the volume

To constantly increase the volume, use esxcfg-volume - M followed of the UUID or volume name

  • In Hotmail, I can see only the Inbox but can't open messages. Also, I can not open all of the other categories. It is only with my netbook and is a recent problem. From an office, the account is fine.

I was read and send e-mails from my netbook and desktop computer without problem. This week, on my netbook, I can only Hotmail and see the Inbox. I can not open the mail, nor can I open one of the other sections or even get to page 2 of the Inbox. There is no problem with the desktop computer. Is there something I may be changed by chance on the netbook that prevents me from using Hotmail? Thanks for any help you can give me.

  • Can see computer as media device, but not like a computer...

Three computers, all the running Windows 8.1. An office is connected by Ethernet to the router, another desktop and laptop are connected by WiFi. Network detection enabled in all three, and all have internet access.

WiFi computers can see each other. Can't see the Ethernet Office at all. The Office of Ethernet, strangely enough, sees the other two, but only as a multimedia device, not as a computer.

    No idea why?

Can you try running the integrated "Homegroup troubleshooter diagnosis."  This will help even if you do not use the homegroup feature, because this diagnosis (which is really just a front-end for a couple of powershell commands script) is re - initialize all the network discovery and send new messages broadcast to the network to announce that a particular PC is available and online (if the computer browser service running on other machines it will detect and fill).

Don't do it all at once, but run the troubleshooter on all computers, one after the other.  It is rarely necessary, but good for restart after they have all done.  Also when you run it, choose the "Advanced" and choose to run it as an administrator (because it should reset and configure system services, it is not complete unless you choose that on the 1st page of the troubleshooting tool).

  • Windows 7 - is there somewhere I can see my upload/download history

My normal download use over a period of 24 hours is always around 200 Mb.  However, twice in the last four months it has suddenly brought to 6.5 GB for no reason that I know.  My ISP can tell me this is the time - about 4 hours, twice the morning (09:00-13:00) and about 80% was browsing the web and 20% me streaming.  The first time it happened that we were not still in the House.  On my ISP tips, we changed the router password in case someone was using our broadband services, but now it's happened again.

I would like to know if there is somewhere in Windows 7 that I can see what caused this huge spike.

    Thank you

There is no native ability to track the broadband use.   (You can see the active data rate with performance monitor, but not history).  There are some 3rd party programs.  Here are links to some of them. Sorry, but I don't have a specific recommendation.

    http://www.bwmonitor.com/
    http://www.NetLimiter.com/featurelistnl3.php

Some use can occur when you are out of the House (e.g. antivirus updates, updates of windows or other software updates), but if there is much unexplained, it could be malicious associates.  I suggest you check with the good free programs.

By downloading and installing these be sure to get the free version. Say no
for all offers free trial or the auto update during installation to keep the functional free version.
