2002 Xp Service Pack 2 is my system

All I want is to get MS Security Essentials running to protect my pc, but I can't download service pack 3, or the other program designed to facilitate transitions in the automatic updates. I have ox80070424 of error message that is not covered in the definitions of error page.
My system is all just too old or I can get some online tech help? I spent more than $100 already on private aid tech and had to put an end, as he just kept making unnecessary attempts and still no luck to find the problem.

Thank you, CN

Windows Update no longer works unless you are in Service Pack 3.

To access the service pack 3, download the standalone SP3 installation program from the following URL:

Ignore the verbiage about "IT Professional" (you may not know it, but you are now a pro).  If you can not download it on your machine, go to another machine, download it and transfer it to your machine on a USB drive or network.  Then double-click it to install

This problem exists since the 1st Media Center. SP2 and SP3 had a difficulty, but it is obvious that it doesn't always. The same problem still exists in Vista today with a lot of other carried over from XP. System restore would work, but you do not have any good restore points so reinstall an operating system seems to be your only option.

You probably don't want to do an OS reinstall you need for Media Center, but since it does not at all, you might want to play then remove the Media Center updates and or SP3 and reinstall them.

No... Who have sp3, it doesn't have Windows xp on it, you need a real Windows xp disc, if it is the Windows xp sp3 disk then Yes you can but the 2 are different. I think that one you have is just sp3, although you can buy a Windows xp with sp3 already on the same disk. Get it?

  • Old files of Service Pack

Windows XP Home Edition / 2002 Version / Service Pack 3

1 system properties of the machine told me that it is running Service Pack 3. My question is, can I delete all the files of Service Pack 1 and Service Pack 2?
    2. can I remove $NtServicePackUninstall$
    3. I disabled the Dr. Watson program, then I stopped and restarted my machine. Why are .exe files of the program, Dr. Watson not appearing in Task Manager processes?
Thanks in advance for your answers.

You can remove the $NtUninstallKB... file and all related $NtServicePackUninstall$ folders and files, if you wish. Those who are for the most part uninstall service packs and Windows Update files. You need these files if you can always restore or uninstall a Service Pack or update.

If you are going to keep a given patch or update, uninstall files serve no additional purpose. Just delete them as you would any other file or folder. (Note: Windows correctly will prevent the deletion of the any of these files that are still needed for one reason or another.)

Patches will always appear in Add XP or Remove applet of the control panel of the programs. To delete the entries, open the program, check the updates to see him at the top of the window, made scroll to select Windows XP - software updates, each of them at a time, then click on remove.

You will get an error message telling you that the file has already been deleted. Click Yes and proceed to the next. Just be sure to not accidentally uninstall an update that you have already deleted it. If the software update Removal Wizard opens instead of the "already deleted" error message, click Cancel.

The list file you most often is a process associated with Norton 360. However, malware is sometimes assumed the names of the legitimate files in order to deceive the end user. Norton is a Devourer of known system and as a result, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that he is a legitimate file in your case. However, I recommend you download, to update and scan with Malwarebytes and Superantispyware, just to be sure. If the scans do not detect the file and the problem persists I would contact Norton or remove Norton making sure to use the tool to uninstall do.

Running Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 with service pack 3.  I get the ehshell.exe error when I try to watch live TV.  It crashes, debug and I usually won't have to ctrl-alt-del to get anywhere.  Do not seem to have this problem before I added various updates etc, tv was fine before this date.

I'm not particularly computer so nice easy steps please...!

Ehshell.exe is a Windows system file that is used to run Microsoft Media Center. It is not a critical system file. However, the ehshell.exe file can become infected and cause errors trying to run certain programs. If the ehshell.exe is absent, it can also cause errors. Reinstall a clean copy of ehshell.exe with the Microsoft System Restore.
