I want to back up the hard drive on my circa 2009 MacBook Pro (13 '') with Snow Leopard. There are so many things out there and I want to get the right one! My MacBook has only a USB 2.0 port. I need to do this because I take the machine to have the battery replaced and because I am buying a new machine soon and would like to transfer things I backed up on my new machine. SMC reset now mac does not recognize battery. disconnected the battery and security cordon mag, maintained hold button / stop for 5 seconds, nothing. You cannot use a USB on Mac 2011 Installer. Please burn the ISO on a physical DVD Windows (a DVD - R Carbon SL on the rate of burning slower is better) and use it to install Windows. The file Info.plist changes only allowing the creation of USB, but does not fully support a USB Installation.

I used to work only on PC, but now I have this 2009 macbook Pro. He had a record of 7200 RPM... but he died... I want to put a hybrid SSHD on it... will it run slower?
Several years ago I tested both a hybrid version Seagate 1 and later version 2 with my 13 "2009 MBP and the computer started more quickly with one of these drives with 7200 RPM drive. But that and save files were the only time where I saw an improvement of high speed. So no, not slower, but not really all that much faster. I ended up installing an SSD in the computer. Now that was an improvement.

You have the original installation media supplied with your machine? This would be a way: use the DVD to boot from, format the new hard drive and then reinstall the operating system. You can then update/upgrade to 10.11.
Other than that, your model was not eligible to have its firmware updated to allow for the recovery of the internet which is the only other way I know - at least the only other way besides a bootable clone, you did before your defective hard disks.

Apple has set the rates, price around $300 repair program. I don't think you can get a price of paste elsewhere. However, there are third-party sites that provide repairs, parts and helpful videos. Google is your friend.

You need to install an operating system from the original computer diskettes or a compatible retail DVD (or one key USB installation Lion from Apple). Insert the floppy, reboot with the C key or Option key, use disk utility to erase the drive and perform the installation.
Any Mac OS X 10.8 or newer system will be linked to your Apple ID and not transferable. This also applies to a copy of the Lion that native Mac App store or the Apple Online Store.

How can I change safe my mid August 2009 MacBook Pro of El Capitan safe...?
Unfortunately my iPhone 5 has stopped working yesterday, so I had a 6s, but I'm still in 10.7.5 naturally now I need to update my laptop, but the last time I tried to update my laptop a few years apparently from what had been told to me by the MacMall apple technician in Santa Monica , it's that I didn't delete the old partition out of my HD, then the laptop was stuck in a lock box. Which resulted in me having to wipe the HD. Is there a way to access El Capitan safely without any headaches and being able to have my files in order with the new OS...? My MacBook Pro is a Mid-August 2009 with processor Intel Core 2 Duo 2.53 GHz, 4 GB RAM. Thanks in advance, any comment on this situation is welcomed.
Here are a few steps you need to take before moving on to the latest version of Mac OS X.
First, run the software update or the App Store and install all the updates available for the operating system you have now. The system must be in good working condition. Do not expect an upgrade of the operating system to repair a computer that is abnormally slow or unstable. More likely, the upgrade will make the problem worse.
If you have less than 4 GB of memory, as shown in the box about this Mac, and your model has an expandable memory, install at least that a large part, or preferably the maximum amount of the machine can use according to the specificationsof Apple. If the memory is not expandable, or you don't want to upgrade, turn off using a newer Mac OS x version until you decide to buy a new computer.

The battery on my MBP of mid 2009 is on its way. I discovered recently that Apple now no no batteries for MBP 2009 community service because they are vintage. I was very disappointed by Apple, after hearing this. My question is what is the best replacement of the third battery in my laptop? I read the comments from Anker Lizone, keys and power GreenBox. They all seem similar, much good reviews, some bad. Nothing similar to the original farm. Any tips or suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Mid 2009 macbook pro running slow after update
I had my computer since 2009, everything was quickly until I upgraded to Snow Leopard to El Capitan. After the update to El Capitan turn quite slowly. He was also heat very quickly. Cable/adapter for use of 2007 iMac as a display for 2009 MacBook Pro
I would use my older iMac as a monitor for my MacBook Pro. Want to know which cable and/or adapter I need help.
The iMac is a 24 inch, Intel based since 2007 (6.1). 2 GB, 667 MHZ. It uses iOS 10.5.8. Its port is a Mini-DVI video output.
The MacBook Pro is a 15-inch (5.4) 2009. 4 GB, 1067 MHZ. It uses iOS 10.11.6. Its port is a Mini display port.

You must use a wireless or Ethernet connection and configure Virtual Network Computing. A 2007 iMac only supports video-, and cannot function without the standard display cable.
