21.5 inch iMac end 2015 model 16.2 RAM upgrade: feasible?

I recently bought an iMac 21.5-inch, late model 2015 16.2 with 8 GB of RAM installed.  I want to upgrade the RAM 16 GB but I don't know what to order because I can't find the model number in the memory of the Apple site section. Third party provider 3rd One told me that this model is not scalable; the other is not the list on their compatibility page. Anyone know what I need to do?

What version of Lightroom do you use?

Have you tried to open the image directly in Lightroom?

Also make sure that Lightroom and Nik are up-to-date.

  • USB hub on iMac end 2015

I recently bought an iMac, retina 4K with 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB disc Fusion. It is currently running 10.11.4. I had previously used a beginning 2008 20 "iMac also runs 10.11.4.

The old iMac has a motor attached Kensington 7-port hub which works fine on this machine. I had thought to transfer this hub to my new Mac - even if it's only USB 2 it would be great for my backup drives, printers and scanner.

However, when I connect the hub to the new iMac, it is acknowledged and reset then almost immediately by the Mac that makes it completely useless. The hub always works on my old Mac as well as on my Macbook Pro (early 2011).

Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I could make the hub work? You can also (since I'll get one the end anyway) is a seven hub USB 3 ports, which is known to work with this model of iMac, which does not cost the Earth and is available in the United Kingdom. I love the look and the price of the Orico hub and wonder if that market.

I think the problem is that the USB 2 is not compatible, it must be USB3.

However, read this Apple Knowledge Base article and see if it offers additional guidance.

  • HELP with wall mount for the iMac-end 2012 model 27 in.

Can someone help me please... I brought the iMac 27 in. in 2013. And I need to mount it on the wall.

To my astonishment, I discovered that I can't get on the wall that my iMac is late 2012 model. And this model does not come with wall VESA opition.

When I brought my computer, I was not put to the aware of the notice of wall-mounted or free-standing support.

I spoke with tech support but no joy.  I was told to replace my iMAC or buy 3rd party mounting Kit. Unfortunately the 3rd party SDK does not solve my problem

I wrote an email to Tim Cook, CEO, Jonathan I, Chief Designer but not heard of one of them.

I would be very grateful if someone out there can help me with my dilemm.  Thank you hear from someone soon.

  • Upgrade memory on iMac end 2015

I have an iMac with 8 Gb. RAM (DIMM 4 GB. 2 each). Now, I want to update my iMac with 2 DIMMs of 8 GB. each. Can I leave the old DIMM RAM of 4 GB. and they work properly with the new DIMM or what I need to get out them?

You can leave the existing on-site and install your additional memory into the two vacant slots:

If you buy a third party memory I suggest you use Crucial or OWC to avoid compatibility problems.

  • 10.11.1 full installer needed for 5K 27 "iMac end 2015

I bought a new iMac Friday (probably my 8th iMac).

I did a restore to Time Capsule and Mac has been randomly turn off several times a day, today it was happening about every 30 minutes.  I did some troubleshooting and was not able to solve, so I decided I need to reformat and reinstall and I won't do a full restore to Time Capsule, because there must be some system file incompatible that causes the problem.  I tried to install on a USB and Firewire drive, but for some reason 10.11 any, that the new iMac won't start them (but other iMacs don't start them).

BTW, followed instructions online to make my own and USB not boot a MacBook Pro and older iMac, but not the new iMac.

I think the iMac nine requires 10.11.1 at startup, but it looks like you can download installer 10.11.

Apple told me to bring it and they he will wipe away so I can start over, but it's a chore.  I have done several times before.  Anyone know where to find the 10.11.1 full installer?

You can reinstall OS X without an OS X flash drive or a CD by pressing command + R when you turn on your iMac, this will open the recovery mode and allows you to reinstall a new copy of Mac OS X on your iMac 10.11.1! More details available here:

Let me know if this helped!

  • 2011 21 inch iMac won't start after the SSD upgrade

Recently, I upgraded my hard drive for an SSD via a computer repair business in my neighborhood, I also upgraded the ram, but I don't think it's in the case. On a two weeks after the upgrade, my computer don't turn on more. I took it to the genius bar and they told me that the DSS had "failed." So of course, I took my computer to the computer repair company and they ran some tests, discovered that the hard disk does not (according to them, he only read this way because the apple store has run the test for a normal hard drive and not an SSD). I'm not super computer savvy, so I took their word for it.

Now, however, it has been nearly a month and my computer refuses to activate once again. Previously, it has worked well, the fans were running at full blast - what I knew would be a problem (although the repairman told me that they 'fixed' this issue too). So the first time, I downloaded a program called SSD fan control and set the fans to run in silent mode. This second time around, I realized that it was probably a bad idea because it could lead to overheating, so I put manually the fan speed so that we could hear still run, but just not as loud.

I tried the reset SMC, but no result. Right now, I unplugged everything including disconnect it from the power strip.

Any other experience of power with a new SSD failure? Is there anything else I could try at home before contacting the computer again repair business? I would not be able to reach at least until tomorrow, and I'm really curious to know how they managed to get my computer back on the first time.

Also, I've been out of my warranty period for about a year, so that's why I thought that I was not risking too much by exchanging the original for one SSD drive.

First of all, the original in Middle 2011 iMac hard drive had a temperature sensor integrated in the drive.  More new or replacement of those who do not.

Other World Computing sells an Apple certified temperature sensor that plugs into the SATA cable.

    https://eShop.MacSales.com/item/OWC/DIDIMACHDD11/

I just put a 2 GB Western Digital Black in mine, with the sensor.

I suggest all first, reinstall the OEM disc and see if it boots.

Put the SSD in an external enclosure and see if it runs...

  • End of 2008 Mac SSD & RAM Upgrade

    Hi all

I have a Macbook 13-inch, aluminum, late 2008. This is the 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, with 2x2gb DDR3 1067 MHz Kington.

I'm currently under OSX 10.9.5. My Version of boot ROM: MB51.007D.B03.

I would like to change the current drive with a 512 GB SSD Crucial. Someone of you have encountered problems with SSD Crucial on this particular Mac?

When I initially swapped to the Kington 2 GB RAM, I read that 4 GB is the max for this model at this time. Recently, I did some more research and found 8 GB might be supported if you a particular firmware. http://blog.MacSales.com/9102-secret-firmware-lets-late-08-MacBooks-use-8gb

Im looking at buying Crucial 8 GB Kit (2 x 4 GB) DDR3 - 1066 SODIMM memory for Mac. http://www.crucial.com/USA/en/ct2k4g3s1067m

I've read some people have had problems with 2 x 4 GB and used a config 1x2GB and 1x4Go. However, the post is about 3-4 years.

Once I update to SSDS and the Rams I intend to update the current firmware. Should I face any problem as soon as I update to El legend with the Rams and the SSD upgrade?

    I appreciate all the comments.

    Mike

There is no problem to occur as far as I understand your plan except that it is much more fast MacBook Pro you expect!

You should get 2.5 external HDD Enclosure also inches so that you can make drive bootable with Carbon Copy clone or SuperDuper clone!

  • resonance or vibration iMac 27 inch end 2015

    Hello

Since a week that I am in possession of an iMac 27 inches 5K end 2015 with retina display and HD 1 TB (no merger drive)

It also does very well, but what stands out is vibrating slightly. This can be observed when handling the Mac down with the index and thumb. Very rarely, he went.

    Is this normal?

If you bought the new Mac there two guarantees.    You can return it without a doubt during the first 14 days either for refund or Exchange.   It is also the failure of a component for 12 months...  Return to the Mac at the store and ask for according to the option that you want.  It seems that the fan is at fault.

  • I was told there is a way to increase the CPU frequency on the new from3.5 of iMacs to until 4.2 is this true end 2015 27 "fusion 1 TB drive

I was told when I bought that I have spped my 3.5 to 4.2 ghz processor...

You can choose one of the three basic for this iMac model processors, which cannot be changed subsequently.

Intel 'Turbo Boost' can temporarily change a processor to operate at 4.2 GHz to 4 GHz. Maybe what you thought.

  • Installation problem w / 10 Windows on end 2015 27 "iMac retina

I used boot camp and it installs windows 8.1 very well. When install updated to 10 from inside windows 8.1 windows or try a cleanup of 10 windows using boot camp, he gets at some point and I see a black screen and it does not go any further. Why Windows 8.1 installs fine, but not windows 10? I have the model with the hard disk of 1 TB in it.

I have the same model as you, and I just spend the whole day trying to solve that, more than an hour on the phone with Apple support. Here's what I learned.

Apple support agreed with me that the problem is most likely a bad display driver (AMD?) in the last set of drivers for Boot Camp. Unfortunately, Windows 10 compatibility for the end iMac to 2015 has been added only last month, so there would still be easily bugs in drivers. The result is that Windows is unable to turn on the display when the Boot Camp drivers are running, but cannot when the default system drivers are running. That's why we could still install Windows and boot to the desktop at the very first (until Boot Camp installed drivers).

Support has also suggested that the new update of El Capitan 10.11.2 could contribute to the bug, but he was not sure about it.

From my experience, the following will not solve the problem:

    • Reset the PRAM
    • Reinstalling Windows (bad drivers should I not get removed)
    • Using the Windows system restore
    • Install Parallels (you cannot yet touch the drivers)

The only remaining thay of possible solutions have been discussed on the phone are:

    • Enter Windows 10 safe mode (very difficult, unless you hard reboot and reset the PRAM repeatedly) and uninstall the graphics card drivers or install the latest AMD drivers
    • Remove your Windows partition reinstall from scratch and refuse installing Boot Camp drivers when it comes to the top

If you try one of these solutions, please let us know if it works.

And if someone could tell me please how to guarantee to be able to boot in SafeMode Windows 10, it would be greatly appreciated. For the record, F8 and SHIFT + F8 are very likely to work.

You can not. It does not target Display Mode support.

Can I use an SDXC (512MB) card as a drive hard primary (such as startup HD with El Capitan) on my iMac 5 K - end 2015? It will slow down the performance of the iMac?

    I did it with a 32GB SDHC UHS - I Transcend

I do not recommend under OS X from such media, but it works very well. I was preparing for my review of the CPHA Yosemite and did not want to mess with the internal drive of OS X.
