23 of Firefox and mixed content

The release of Firefox 23 notes claim that mixed content pages are now blocked. The Forum of Mozilla messaging to support Thunderbird has mixed content, but it is not blocked. Why say that sites with mixed content are blocked if they are not? THE URL:
http://getsatisfaction.com/mozilla_messaging/topics

Firefox has two prefs to control mixed content.

  • Security.mixed_content.block_active_content
  • Security.mixed_content.block_display_content

Block_active_content is currently set to true by default. block_display_content is always false, so thing as images are not blocked.

  • Site Web Console (Firefox/tools > Web Developer;) CTRL + SHIFT + K)

My https:orderform site page contains only images of https and the site has an EV cert which is valid and up-to-date. With history cleared page and visit for the first time that Firefox reports this page contains mixed content and that the site does not identify iteself.

Pressing F5 to refresh the page address bar correctly shows green with no mixed content popup and that diversity side himself.
SSLCertificateChainFile was added, and it makes no difference.
Problem does not occur in other browsers (IE, Safari, Chrome).
A new FF profile has been attempted, but same problem occurs.

Why is refreshing the page work?

Problem in all browsers firefox 3.5 to 14.01. I don't know about those < 3.5.

I have read and tried most of the suggestions in the forum and elsewhere, but can't find a solution.

I have not provided the url because it is my order page and it is important for me to see from real visitors.

First of all thank you for your comments jscher2000

I thought I had fixed it, but I had to clear the history and turn off the computer for a few more minutes for the error reappear.
Well it turns out that this was not the difference between the direct replacement and replace().
    However this worked.

    If (xFf) setTimeout (function () {top.location.href = "https://ord.html"}, 300);

Thus allowing any javascript code following (pending) to finish as suggested.
I came to the same conclusion before reading your comments.

    WORKS NOW

However the redirection on the server is a more robust solution.

  • When Web pages contain mixed content, does (or can) Firefox block content from sources not secure?

When secure Web (those using SSL) pages contain content from sources non - SSL, Internet Explorer 8 and 9 ask if you want to show only the content that has been delivered safely. I could not find a prompt similar to Firefox. I know three possible explanations:
1 Firefox offers no protection against the mixed content. I hope that this is not the case!
2 Firefox has a setting that I have not found.
3 Firefox can offer protection but in a different way than Internet Explorer.

Firefox is not and can not block content through an unsecured connection to come in this case, but you can get a warning.

The settings for warning messages have been removed from the UI (Bug 513166).

You must change preferences related security.warn_* directly on the topic: config page.

    Filter: security.warn_viewing_mixed

  • Time of loading very very very slow (Firefox and explore) with Flash content

    Yes Details:

    Professional Win7 64 bit

    Flash Player version: 11.1.102.55

    Problem:

With the two browsers (Firefox and Explorer, the latter with 32-bit and 64-bit versions) it is impossible to use the web pages with Flash content, cause the loading time is too large (more than a minute) and during this time, the browser seems frozen.

He began to arrive after the last cause upgrade to Flash version for a long time, I faced a strange behavior: whenever I rebooted the PC, a window with the request to update Flash appeared, and even I did the upgrade, the next time that I restarted the window appeared again. so after a lot of this, I decided to switch to the latest version available.

But now, I had to disable the Flash option in the two browser for surfing the web, otherwise it's impossible to do.

    Can you help me???

p.s. I already tried to uninstall everything with Adobe scripts, I also uninstalled Explorer and Firefox and installed everything again, but nothing!

How to do a clean install of the Flash Player?

  • issue of navigation - mix content query and pagelink

    Hello

I need to show a node in my navigation model in which:

    1. the upper level is a clickable link to a page of "all reports".
    2. the submenu that appears when you switch on it displays a query of content

I don't know how to create a content query in which the top level is also a link to a .jspx... Yannick you know how?

    Thank you!
    Mitch

It is perfectly possible to achieve.
The navigation in the PS3 model is a hierarchical structure, which means that you have some sublevels as you like. Nodes that can have children is not confined to records.
You can create children under a page request node.

Then first you must create your node pointing to your page.
In your navigation model press the Add button and select the link. Dropdownbox select Page. When you press the button Browse next to the URL field, you should be able to select your exact JSPX page.

Select the node of your page in the navigation model and press the Add button and select content query.
You will need to provide the CMIS query to the query to the server of the University Complutense of MADRID.
In this document, you will find information on the CMIS query: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17904_01/doc.1111/e15813/toc.htm
I'll do a blogpost on CMIS in a few days, which explains the CMIS in depth more so if you can wait a few days...

    That's all there is.
If you need more information, please let me know.

I'm also writing a book about webcenter 11g ps3 which should be published in a few weeks (I hope...) and it has a chapter covering only the navigation model and shows you how you can add pages and content query.

  • You are looking for a tool for mixed content "sniffing" HTTPS/HTTP

I hope someone here can help me out. I'm looking for a tool/addon that can report exactly what on the page will raise an error of mixed content. The browser will tell me something on the page is not sure, but it doesn't tell me where or which is not secure, so I can fix it.

Here is my recent example of this problem.
I had a problem with a HTTPS page with one doubleclick on it tracking pixel. It was an iframed of pixel on the tracking of the standard page and iframed page was HTTPS without any problem of cert. It turned out that the current iframed page has a javascript call which was HTTP and this triggers the error of mixed content.

Unfortunately it took me almost two days to understand iframed pages was the no-ssl, not anything on the site.

If someone here could help me find a tool or point to a browser feature that I don't know who could help sniff me these fastest mixed content error would make you my life so much easier.

You can glean some more information the Console browser Firefox (Ctrl + Shift + j). Mixed content blocks generate a log entry in the Security category. If you mix in the filter area in the upper right of the console, which should help down on the message. (Example screenshot attached.)

Now... you still need to understand what generates the request, but I hope it helps.

  • The mixed content not recalled blocking preferences

I want to disable way permanent blocking of mixed content on some Web sites. When I click "Disable on this page protection", Firefox seems to remember the choice until the end of the session. After reboot, I disable it again. Is there a way to remember these settings permanently, without turning off the feature?

It's always a pain the... in version 26. I want to just my decision to persist and do not have to keep saying things to unlock. But also, I don't want to disable the feature entirely. Pretty ridiculous situation.

  • How do I whitelist specific URL to disable the blocking of mixed content? (New feature FF23)

For some of the products company that I use, the mixed content blocker disables my ability to use these tools. I understand I can switch to allow mixed content - I'd like to power white list URLS that I use regularly I don't want blocking active content. Is this possible?

Agree. I had trouble with some screens of the site because this went live, and I just found out that he is the source. Having to re - click the rocker, every time I reload the page is a TERRIBLE user interface and makes Firefox unusable. I've been a long-time user of firefox and really like many of its features, but if this is rectified soon, I'll have to look for another browser, for some (if not all) Web sites.

Allowing a white list would quickly and easily solve this problem. I know the problems of security, I introduced myself. Keep this essay of yellow warning before the https is a great reminder that my safety is threatened.

  • How to fix Firefox and Thunderbird when MozBackup broke?

    Hello.

We are a small family business. My father, the head of the company, really liked software MozBackup and we use it for a long time now.
About 2 weeks ago, we bought a new PC for our needs, and while I was configuring it to work, I encountered a major problem. I installed Win7 64 bit, all the drivers needed and software, including FireFox, ThunderBird and MozBackup. Everything was going well until we used MozBackup. FireFox is now having trouble with certificates - for example it shows problems with certificates not approved on Mozilla help sites, google etc. Some Web sites are displayed in plain text, in particular the support pages. Also, it does not play youtube videos - they're starting to buffer and then an error pops up. Uninstalling Firefox and deleting the profile manually do not help, when I run it again it stil has these issues. This stopped after you have reinstalled the OS, but I really don't want to do this again. Thunderbird shows that our private mail server's certificate is not approved, it also has problems with displaying certain messages (not reliable too). All other web browsers works fine. We checked today and it also happened on our new ultrabook with Windows 10, but when we updated Firefox and restored the profile with MozBackup on our old laptop - he didn't plant as on other computers. It seems to happen only with freshly installed Firefox and Thunderbird.

Could you help us somehow? Is that caused new versions of these programs? I used FF and TB 38.4.0 42.0/43.0. Maybe you could just give me a solution to restore by default, so she would go as it has just been installed? Then we could migrate to Firefox Sync with our profiles.
We would be very grateful for any help from you.

    See you soon.

You have restored the cert8.db file?

There are security software such as Avast and Kaspersky and BitDefender and ESET which intercepts secure connections and sends its own certificate.

If you cannot inspect the certificate by "I understand the risks", then try this:

Open the "Add Security Exception" this URL chrome by pasting into the address bar of Firefox and check the certificate:

    • chrome://pippki/content/exceptionDialog.XUL

In the field of location of this window, type or paste the URL of the Web site.

    • retrieve the certificate via the button 'Get certificate '.
    • Click on the "view..." button. "to inspect the certificate in the certificate display

You can check details such as the issuer and the certificate chain in the Details tab of the certificate display.
Check which is the issuer of the certificate.
If necessary, you can attach a screenshot that shows the display of the certificate.

  • Tabs, windows and lost after updating to Firefox and page seems gross

I don't think that you have respect for those who use Firefox. Do you understand how many of us work for the House and need this platform to work for our COMPANY? I think you play games with users, at our expense.

So furious that I must try to solve your problems when I have to work. Last night you gave me a message to try to refresh. You said that everything would be saved.

I TRUSTED YOU. Available on the page at the top has been terrible, and I don't know where my addons went. Still, it seems impractical. but at least my tabs were all there.

Today, you have LOST ALL MY TABS except the ones pinned. All the windows gone, too. I copied the sqlt places of my old Firefox Desktop data to the new folder AppData profile several times. Never worked. FF just kept coming back to show me the pinned tabs.

Really, you evaluate these things first? I want to completely delete this useless refresh and come back when things worked.
    WPA

Please, take a deep breath. Now:

There is no way one click to cancel a refresh, but here is a procedure to return to your prior to refresh the data. It takes 5 minutes, but it's perhaps faster than the recovery of individual files and load those into your new profile.

Check in the folder 'Old data Firefox' update adds a folder with a random semi name on your desktop. If there is only one, that probably has your old settings and Add-ons. If there is more than one, you'll want to work with one who has been updated recently.

Once you have identified the profile folder, that you want to restore, here is my "old profile resurrection suggested procedure:

    Overview

Here are the steps described in more detail below:

    1. Create a new Firefox profile
    2. Delete all of this profile folder
    3. Copy in all of the old profile folder

Create a new profile for Firefox (Windows)

Exit Firefox completely and start up in the Profile Manager by pasting the following text in the search box of the start menu, or the start > Run dialog box and pressing ENTER:

    firefox.exe -P

Note: any time want to switch profiles, exit Firefox and return to this dialog box.

Click on the button create a profile, give it a name like OldSettings and skip the option to change the location of the folder. Select the new profile from the dialog box, and then start Firefox.

Open the new profile folder in Windows Explorer

Firefox in the new profile should look like a new installation of the plant. Open the troubleshooting information page by using either:

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > troubleshooting information
    • Menu help > troubleshooting information
    • type or paste everything: in the address bar and press Enter

In the first table, click on the view file"" button. Firefox will launch your new profile folder in Windows Explorer.

This folder open, switch back to Firefox and get out by using either:

    • "3-bar" menu button > button "power".
    • (menu bar) File > Exit

Firefox is closed, the profile folder must be front and Center, or you can activate it by using the taskbar.

Copy old data instead of new

In this new profile folder you just popped open - NOT the one on your desktop - select all content (you can use Ctrl + a) and delete (you can press Delete on the keyboard).

Leave this window open, open or switch to your folder of old data of Firefox. Consult your old profile folder. At this level, you should see a folder named bookmarkbackups among other things.

Select all (Ctrl + a) and copy (or right-click > copy or Ctrl + c).

Switch to the empty profile folder in another window and paste (or right-click > paste or Ctrl + v). This may take a few minutes because some files are large.

    Launch Firefox

Firefox should start in this 'new' profile with the old resurrected profile data. Success?

  • In preferences, search option is missing between the general and the content.

I use Firefox 40.0.3 on OSX and I tried to set the search parameters. When I go into Preferences, I don't see the search catgergory. If I remember correctly there used to be between the general and the content, but it just disappeared. I was wondering if there is a way to recover or if these options have been moved to another location in the new version.

I restarted Firefox in safe mode to disable all addons. It is not yet here.

You have disabled browser.search.showOneOffButtons [set this pref to false] in Subject: config?
Enter about: config in the URL bar and press ENTER. then use the search box at top.

Options > Search "tab" disappears when this pref is toggled to false. Search preferences back to the old system where the 'controls' are in the search bar - manage search... engines such as those used before Firefox 34.

  • How can I disable the "mixed content blocker' for a single Web site, for example, NYTimes?

Until about 3 weeks ago, I saw the site of the New York Times a day with no content blocked by the Firefox browser. With recent updates in Firefox, the NYTimes site appears in a default form blocked, whenever I go to him. • Safari supports mixed content?

I am trying to get an answer to if Safari supports mixed content and if yes how preferences must be put in place. I found totally contradictory information when you search the web, the same right here in the Apple support communities.

Some places say that Safari blocks all the content of the joint. Period. That has not been my experience.

Other places say you need to set some preferences, such as cookies from Web sites I visit, or whatever.

Is it a final anywhere which dealt with it?

    Thank you.

    -JT

Open safari > safari Preferences > privacy > cookies and the Web site data > select allow Web sites that I visit.

    • Allow Web sites I visit: Safari accepts cookies and the data of the Web site only from Web sites you visit. Safari uses existing cookies to determine if you have visited a website before. This option prevents sites Web which have integrated content in other websites that you browse to store cookies and data on your Mac.
    • An apple article is here: Safari 8 (Yosemite): manage cookies and the data from the Web site
  • I can't yet see flash players in firefox after uninstall and reinstall of firefox and flash several times. How can I fix this permanent?

I can go in chrome without any problem and watch any video without any problem. the second I get into firefox, nothing does. I had this problem on and off for years. I really don't see why you can't solve the problem, if anyone can. I uninstalled and reinstalled firefox and flash player several times. nothing seems to work. I am really really tired of this same problem for years, I stay with firefox, because you are aware of privacy and are always more. I don't know what other details to tell keep you other than that just to be and it makes it very difficult to do anything on firefox, when I can't use something simple like the flash drive. as I said, if other browsers can remedy I see no reason why firefox can not year after year. I hope there is a solution to this problem because it basically stopped a lot of my work on the net that I will no longer use google or microsoft. Thank you

If you use extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) which can block content (e.g., Adblock Plus, NoScript, Flash Block, Ghostery) then make sure that these extensions are not blocking content.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.

    • Put yourself in the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance
    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe
