Hello nonchisa, welcome on the HP forums.

I see that you are looking for repair the laptop. I'll try to help you.

In the maintenance and Service guide, you should be able to locate spare parts and numbers.

To order these, try to go through the HP parts store.

  • Replacement of the frame and hinges - HP Pavilion dm4 laptop

I have a HP Pavilion dm4 laptop of 2.5 years. The first hinged on both sides broke that makes it harder for the laptop to close properly and now the frame is breaking apart. Is there a way I can get/buy replacements before other parts are screwed up.

    Thank you

Yes, I also have this problem (dm4-1050ea).

It all started on February 2015, when my aunt noticedv that my laptop was nt close properly.  It could be be made to do by pressing half upper (screen cut) to the front to the rear of the closure.

The hinges then becomes deective that the screen don't would not SOUPLESE nd would not sit just to the place (angle) you open to.

Following the hinges too stiff beame to exploit, came shortly after the left of the screen/lid and the window broke near the LH hinge (rather than though the bezel as shown in the image above). Then the right hinge broke off, then the screen become deective (mainly a band along the LHS - worked with detached hinges OK))

So, I find myself with computer work, not 100% functional & broken and needs special care to use. the screen does not work in all areas (a replacement looks like £30-$50), with the virtually hanging screen, need to rplace lying hinges (£10-$15) and also nees any other bits (?) and the knowledge to fix it.  HP say they can't stand any more of this model and have no theparts (from end of 2015).

It may be beyond the capacity of an almighty ccompany such as HP to find parts, but it does not seem beyond the my ability to get parts of - maybe-2nd hand - other HP broke! - But what I lak is kno detailed ho a skill to perform any repair.

  • Pavilion dm4, replacing hard drive

    So, I have a HP Pavilion dm4 1165 c: windows 7 64 bit, around a Yes and a half old.

A week before, the hard drive suffered a kind of permanent fatal event and quietly left this death spiral.  If you want to know: any type of shoe was impossible.  System recovery could not even see the drive, an external drive could not speak of it, and it crashed to any machine that has tried.  I had to send it to data recovery - they tell me that the reader has hard errors and at least one of the drive heads does not.  They will be able to pick up stuff for me, but the reader is a loss (yes I know, I know - I should have backed up).

So in my opinion it - I have two problems to solve.  1. I need a new hard drive.  2 - I need stuff to put on my hard drive (it came with nothing - I don't have the disc for the operating system, drivers, nothing).  That offer HP which determination of these problems?  How much are these options?  Who should I talk to?  (I tried to call tech support, but there was a bit of a language barrier.  Also, I'm out of warranty, and they want $60 to solve problems before they'll still talk about replacement of hardware and/or software).

    Hello:

You can order a 500 GB hard drive 7 200 to replace your existing one.  You can't go smaller if you want to use recovery disks.

I love this place to order PC hardware.

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/ProductList.aspx?submit=Ene&N=100007605%20600030594&IsNodeId=1&BOP=and&order=rating&PageSize=20

I'd go with the first listed, but it is up to you. Look at the reviews and the price and choose the one that suits you best.

You can order HP recovery discs. You will need to call them as the link to the website to order them is broken.  Cost should be less than $20.00

You will need the complete model number of your PC. I do not see a dm4 - 1165dm.  I see a dm4 - 1165dx, and you will need to provide the serial number.

If HP has a set of recovery disc for your PC, you can use this workaround to install W7 on your new HARD drive.

If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.

Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.

Use 25 characters on the PC product key to activate the installation.

The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below.

  • Replacing the screen for HP Pavilion dm4 2102e0

    Hello.

    A screen 14 '' from a HP PAVILION DM4-2165DX 14.0 WXGA HD worthy fits into my 2102e0 DM4?

Because my broken screen, and I want to buy a new screen to replace the former screen.

The screen I think to buy: http://www.ebay.com/itm/LAPTOP-LCD-SCREEN-FOR-HP-PAVILION-DM4-2165DX-14-0-WXGA-HD-/370981399587?pt=U...

    Thanks in advance.

I'll give the same advice I always give. Remove the screen first and then looking for a replacement. You will tap into a wider pool of parts suppliers and you will be also sure to 100% compatibility. Order based on the machine screen part number not the model number of the laptop. You have to remove the screen eventually anyway. If you need help to remove the old screen let us know.

  • HP PAVILION DM4-1160US screen is compatible with a HP PAVILION DM4-1164NR?

I own a HP PAVILION DM4-1164NR and the screen is broken.  I'm looking to replace as well as the best deals/more easily available screens I can find are for a HP PAVILION DM4-1160US screen.  This form is not compatible with my laptop? They both seem to have the same characteristics and everythign online, but I have read that when the screen is connected is where a problem may occur with different types of screens.

The replacement screens I have seen available to the dm4 uses a 40 led connector pin. the only thing you need to do of course new screen has the same size, resolution and backlight type as your old.

The screens are not expensive if you shop wisely for a new one with a warranty and the best price.  This online seller is $55-60, 00 USD.

  • HP Pavilion dm4-2070us - screen is blurred.

The display on this laptop has blur.  It seems that the cables are either shorting out or connections are pulling loose.  The date of manufacture of the laptop seems to be 6/27 and the purchase date was 7/16.  The HP site says that the warranty expired 8/1.  My client brought me this laptop on 8/2 and 8/3 HP today refuses to cover it under warranty.  Technology HP told me on the phone that the guarantee included a period of 2 months and the warranty itself was 12 full months.  If this is the case, how is this not yet in the "grace" of the warranty period.

In the second place.  I was told that default or questions in the field of the hinge are not covered by the warranty?  Is this true and how this is justified.

Finally, someone of experience on this model and what parts might be needed to solve the problem.  Just trying to get more information to determine my cost until I crack open the laptop.

    Best regards

    Tony

Warranty is measured from the date of retail purchase. If the warranty has expired 7/16. What is the problem with the hinges? Maybe a photo? All the parts you need are available on eBay. Issues of the screen could be the Panel or cable, it is difficult to say without achieve and by reviewing the cable to see if it pulled the connection if it is frayed or other damage. The cable is usually not the problem but if there is a bad hinge the chances of a bad cable go way up. In most cases, the problem is the display panel itself. A screen will cost you around $85:

[Make sure it is your cable... others are on ebay for as high as almost $100 so duplication of reference numbers... Another reason to go ahead and open it.] Even cope with the screen... Make sure that you are getting the right part]

  • HP Pavilion dm4-1150ea: Bluetooth stopped wotking on Pavilion DM4

    I have a HP Pavilion dm4-1150ea running under Windows 7 64-bit.

I bought a receiver bluetooth audio and paired with the laptop and installed a driver. I was able to listen to audio to the receiver but when I closed the laptop and opened it later, it stopped working.

I looked in Device Manager and the bloetooth radios are no longer there and there is no device under network adapters. They had been there before.

I rebooted several times and it still does not work. I managed to do the work once and it coincided with put the power cable in. However, it did not work for a long time.

HP Wireless Assistant says that Bluetooth is disabled in Device Manager.

I tried to download the latest driver for bluetooth on the HP site, but it won't install because bluetooth is not running.

At one point, I got a message saying that he was not a USB device. I can see a warning about "Unknown device" icon in the Device Manager USB controllers section.

I tried to do a system restore, but that failed because it could not access a file.

Any ideas how I can get blue tooth works again?

Hope this happens to Jeff.  My computer is no longer under warranty, but I have a broken hinge.  I brought this computer only 2 years and can afford to buy a new one.  The two hinges on my laptop broke. I googled and found others have the same problem.  Has anyone heard if HP publish any recall for hinge broken since a lot of people have broken the hinge question?  I heard that Jeff is very useful, I appreciateif anyone I would like to know how to communicate with Jeff? Thank you very much!

  • HP Pavilion dm4: graphics driver Intel & AMD causing Windows Crash

    Hello.

    My laptop is

HP Pavilion dm4-3107tx Beats Edition Entertainment Notebook PC.   I tried to install the graphics drivers from this link:

    http://support.HP.com/ph-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-DM4-3100-beats-Edition-entertainment-not...

but I could not install the graphics card intel. It is said that the cell does not meet the minimum requirements of the graphics driver.

I also tried to install AMD and he did. But every time that I reboot, Windows startup crashes.

I also noticed that results for starting blocked when I recently updated my Windows, including the update for the driver intel which I have not yet installed (because I know that once I did, I do a lot of recovery and repair of the system for the umpteenth time).

And now I feel really stressed out about it because I've been formatted my laptop for the second time, and the last time it was with the release of the pilot intel. I was stuck again started back and I got really tired of him.

I really need help with that.

What I have to install ALL the drivers in the link before installing graphics drivers to ensure that graphics drivers will install?

    Hi @katrinahahaha,

    Thank you for your query.

I understand that you have a problem installing your graphics drivers.  After formatting the drive and installation of the Intel graphics driver, you have a problem starting.  Did you use the Recovery Manager to format and reinstall Windows 7?

You only need to install the driver AMD of the HP driver page because it contains the two pilots.  Please try this process:

    • Uninstall and remove two graphic drivers
    • Restart your laptop
    • Run the HP Support Assistant to help find and install the graphics drivers
    • You can also after the uninstall, remove the driver and restart, download and install just the driver AMD.

    HP Support Assistant

If this problem persists, try removing both drivers and using the Recovery Manager to install the drivers:

Computers HP - using Recovery Manager to restore the software and drivers (Windows 7)

Please let me know the results.

  • Satellite Pro L20 - broken hinge baseplate - where to find the parts?

    Hello

First post here, so please excuse the lack of local etiquette.

My son has a Toshiba Satellite Pro L20 with a broken hinge base plate. I'm calling it a base plate that I can not find the name of the part anywhere on the web so far.

Its obviously the metal plate on the basis that the hinge attaches to.
You can see it if you remove the battery.

Nobody knows what is this part and where I could possibly buy one?

    Kind regards

    Jimmy

    Hello

I think that in this case the ASP from Toshiba (certified partner) might help you.

You must enter in contact of this ASP in your country and the technician should be able to order a compatible part for laptop.

You will find here all the FSA all over the world:
