32-bit to a 64-bit processor converter

I have an IBM Lenovo ThinkCentre with Win XP SP3 and a 32-bit processor, Pentium D. would be my computer support upgraded to a Pentium 4 processor to make 64 bit?

Check if your motherboard has a socket that supports your new 64-bit processor.

    Hello

Update CPU is always a difficult history.
I think you have a good chance to upgrade the processor as long as you use the CPU of the same CPU family.

You could check what processors have been used in other portable Satellite Equium A110 and then you could choose the most powerful CPU used in this series.

In addition, you should check your chipset type. On page Intel you can find details and which processors are supported by this chipset.

    Windows XP instead of Vista.

I would like to install Windows XP on my computer and get rid of the Vista operating system.  Can I do this?  I only have 512 MB of Ram and 32-bit processor.

    Hello

There are a few things that you would have to do to install XP instead of Vista:

    1. contact the manufacturer of your computer and see if the XP drivers are available for your computer model to make sure that XP has worked properly in this regard.

    2. If the XP Drivers are available, buy a XP disk operating system / license. Try local computer repair shops because Microsoft sells more than XP and online sale buy you pirated copies can cause. Be very careful.

3 XP runs with 512 MB of RAM, although a little slow by today's standards.

    4. do a clean install of XP. Make sure that all your data is backed up as the hard will be cleaned of everything during the Installation of XP.

I tried to install Windows7 on an old desktop computer, but got an error message that says that a 64-bit processor is required.  So, if I can't install Windows7, what version of Windows I can use?

    Maurice

    HI Maurice Osborn.

Old desktop computer consists of 32-bit processor called x 86 only. So you need support for Windows 7 x 86 to install on your PC. I hope that you have Windows 7 X 64 Media, it is not compatible with your PC. That's why you have this error.

There are two types of media available X 86 and X 64...

To use windows 7 x 86 Media for your PC

Please check your PC meets the said requirements below...

    Windows 7 minimum configuration:

    Processor: Pentium 3, 665 MHz, Celeron, Pentium 4 1 GHz / Core 2 Duo 2 GHz

    RAM:
512 MB (that's a lot still needs to get the installer running)

    1 GB, maybe 1.5 GB

    2 GB or more

    Graphics card:

Embedded graphics, 8 MB memory card

Integrated graphics, 64 MB of memory,
at least drivers WDDM 1.0 (Vista), DirectX 9 capable.

Map dedicated graphics, 128 or 256 MB of memory.
WDDM 1.1 drivers (Windows 7), DirectX 9 and 10 capable.

    Hard drive:

    HARD DRIVE IDE, 10 GB
Please post what size of hard drive, you got win7 working on!

IDE or SATA HDD, 16 GB (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit) free

    Thank you..

I know that 64-bit is faster and more efficient than the 32-bit processor, but why os 32/64 bit too? OS working elbow-to-elbow with processors?

Could someone explain a little bit. I so want to know. Thank you

    (1) how can I check if I have a 32 or 64-bit processor? Compatible with the 32 bit processor 64 bit operating system?

    (1) os 64-bit to 32-bit operating system, it's because the processor went from 32 bit to 64 bit?

    (3) I know 64-bit is faster and more efficient than the 32-bit processor, but why os 32/64 bit too? OS working elbow-to-elbow with processors?

    (1) If you have an Intel processor, check here: http://ark.intel.com/ (all news are 64-bit, but many in the pentium and celeron series are not)
No matter what AMD processor once sempron will be 64-bit.

    (2) No. 32-bit operating systems were once popular is that 32-bit processors cannot run 64-bit operating systems (although the 64-bit processors can run 32-bit operating systems.

    (3) see above. The only drawback to a 32 bit OS is that you can not use more than 3.3 GB of RAM, or to run 64-bit applications.

  • 32-bit vs 64-bit processors, and recommendations for the new computer operating systems

This message can be duplicated... because I posted in laptop - forum.

I'm in the market for a new desktop computer and want to do a lot of video editing (using Roxio and Vegas Movie Studio).  I want to know the specifications to ask.  I need to know if it is better to get a 64-bit operating system processor AND... OR... a 64-bit processor and a 32-bit processor or should I just stick with 32-bit systems?   I'm afraid that my drivers and existing software may not be not compatible with 64-bit processors.  I want a system that will be able to also change the HD videos.

Any help with explanations would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi lcdrdan,

I use a HP Elite d5000t with Vista 64 bit and I have Vegas Studio 9 installed and it works great. The specifications of the box didn't say it works with Vista 64-bit, but it does.

  • Is - a 64-bit processor intel q6600?

Downloaded 64 win 7 pro dvd crashes during decompression of files (tried 2 DVD and two different files). called microsoft and they told me my q6600 is only a 32 bit processor, and I couldn't load 64 bit win 7 on it. Wikipedia, google, Intel, all described tom harware quad core 64 bit processors both. Win 7 advise just said that I had to do a custom installation, because I put a prograsm 64-bit on a 32 bit one. discussed with the guys from India for an hour. everything he told me that my cpu is 64-bit. am I crazy because I can't find any instance where a quad core two is 32-bit only. searched this site and all the 3 hits talking about 64 bit os on q6600.

First of all, try to burn one of your ISOs with ImageBurn www.imgburn.com at very low speed (not more than 4 x).  Yes, I know that it will take some time, but it is one of the most common causes of bad burns and facilities fault.  If you have more than one hard drive installed, physically disconnect all but one you want installed on Windows7.

After the burn, start from the DVD (check that the BIOS is set to search for the optical drive before hard drive) and when it gets to the screen, choose to do a custom installation (which will format the drive so make sure you back up everything you want / need first), choose to delete the partition and create a new and we'll see how it goes.

Good luck and please find you the way back and let me know how it goes.

  • install 64-bit on a 32-bit processor

I have a computer dell laptop, 4 GB of RAM, 32-bit operating system, x 64 based processor. The only problem is that I don't have my CD of 32-bit processor but I have a 64-bit processor CD, if I install 64-bit despite this condition?

    If Yes, then how?

    Hi Rohan,

Thanks for posting on Microsoft Communities.

I'll be happy to help you with the issue you have with Installation.

Yes, you can install 64-bit on a 32-bit processor. However to move from a 32-bit version of Windows to a 64-bit version, you need to perform a "Custom" / Clean install because there is no 'Upgrade' path. ".

I suggest you back up all data before making a custom or a new installation of windows.

Hope this information is useful. Please report if you have any other questions. I'll be happy to help you.

    Thank you.

  • How can I download Adobe 32 bit processor?

Ancestral Quest genealogy software requires the use of a 32 bit processor. I'm looking for help on how I can download the 32-bit for the operation. I have a laptop HP with Windows 8 Intel (R) Pentium (R),

    Thank you, mikea41686813

You just try to do the wrong thing: nothing to do with 32/64 bit. Adobe Reader opens PDF files: nothing. So don't try to open PRN files. Generally NOTHING open PRN files, they are only to send to a printer, does not display on screen.

Newer versions of PS will install any version that your computer can handle, in most cases, it will charge the 32 and 64-bit versions. I think it started with the CS6, but maybe CS5. What version do you have?
