3847 Inspiron bought at Costco: the two Windows 7 and 8.1 out of the box?

Howdy, y ' All,.

End of last year, has bought an Inspiron 3847 of Costco. We were told that Windows 7 Pro and Pro 8.1 would be available to the first power. Just unpacked and he started to Win 7. We prefer to use 8.1 but the only indication of 8.1 is a DVD titled «Media Windows 8.1 for Windows 8.1 recovery products 64 - bit» The DVD label also reads "Already installed on your computer." Diskmgmt.msc shows the disk of 1 TB with three partitions: a no, the second is 21,67 GB recovery and OS occupies the rest. No indication of another partition from the OS.

I tried to boot from the recovery DVD Win 8.1 and requires the removal of the partition of the OS which is now Win 7.

Where can I find Win 8.1? Also performed on system tools, but no sign of a partition Win 8.1.

Thank you very much.

Upgrade LEVEL DBAR and save the plant in WIN7 together at a concert of 16 or LARGER USB Flash drive.  8.1 drive will have ALL the drivers you need.  A $10 usb wifi adapter addresses this by giving you access to download the drivers with an NIC that uses drivers 8.1 disk.

Your other option is to set aside the current drive and install 8.1 on a new hard drive empty. If you download and install 1.7 DBAR, you will be able to do a restore of windows 7 factory and a restoration of factoru 8. The backup of the plant on a flashdrive 16 gig will survive all of the dying hard drive.  But it will only install on a new drive, if you upgrade from 1.6 to 1.7

1.6 DBAR retrieves only the exact OEM drive.  The 1.7 will recover to ANY reader who is at least 80 GB.

Then, you can remove and install the Red disc WIN8.

Then reinstall DBAR 1.7 key USB and a usb wifi adapter so that you can download the drivers for windows 8 for the VIDEO and Audio from Realtek and NIC chipset etc.

Once everything is working you reinstall DBAR 1.7 and it will create a recovery of 8 factory windows that you can save a 16 gig or more large usb flash drive.

You will then have the option to install 7 or 8 at any time in the future.

I had the same exact system and it came with WIN7.   I don't have a disc of WIN8, but I downloaded a Microsoft.
