  The laptop has not been handed over with the recovery disk because there is a pre-installed tool called Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator.
  This software could create the recovery disk that allows the laptop to factory settings still.

• Problem with Windows7 upgrade - Satellite A500

  I bought a portable Satellite A500 with Vista 32 bit Home Premium.
  It came with an upgrade to Windows 7, which I completed the process of installation/uninstallation of upgrade Vista Home Premium 32 bit for Windows 7 32 bit on the Toshiba site, before the beginning of the DVD of windows 7 installation process.

  After restarting my computer in step 6, I have a message "new hardware found - base system device" I tried to search c: and I tried the Windows 7 DVD for the specific file searching and can't locate it.

  The installation/uninstallation deleted the drivers to connect to the internet.

  Can't seem to start installing Windows 7 from the DVD.

  Help, please.

  I assume that you have improved the Vista to Win 7 and installed not cleaning.
  I recommend a clean installation, because Windows 7 would reinstall and will not use the applications that were pre-installed on Vista.

  My Toshiba Satellite A500-025 has a keyboard with strange symbols on it. The back key on the right side of the keyboard is also a vertical rectangular key with 2 keys between the key containing the semicolon and the return key which is too far.

  On other Toshiba keyboards I've seen in stores, the return key is a horizontal rectangular key with that one key between the semicolon and the return key. Anyone know why I have this strange configuration on my keyboard?

  To be honest I don't know on which keys you mean exactly, but I think you should consult your dealer and ask what it can be.

  I don't know what other Toshiba keyboards you mean but fact is that the Satellite A500 is Toshiba the first laptop with screen 16 delivered with larger keyboard, including the numeric keypad.

  I paid 15 euros for a keyboard. It is not expensive.

  Toshiba US page you can find and download drivers BETA only for assistance.

  You should turn the unit upside down and have to wait as the dry reel.
  In the best of cases that the unit should turns correctly but it could be possible that your motherboard or another party as a RAM module or keyboard could be affected.

  Something similar happened to my girlfriend s book. In my case the RAM module was dead and laptop could no longer starts up I have replaced the RAM and was happy to see the Toshiba homepage

• Satellite A500-12W - turns off

  I have a problem at the moment. I'm playing a game on my A500-12W.

  The game is not not that demanding for this type of laptop, we are talking about the witcher in 2007. After 10 minutes my phone turns off. Looks like to me its overheating but can't really find a reason why. The fan speed is actually blocked about 80-90% all the time if there is almost no programs running. I have a dual core 2, 53GHz, 4 GB of RAM and 1 GB radeon mobility 4600hd in there so I did not thing that the game is too demanding.

  Hey, I got my A500 for almost a year now and I had to downgrade to windows XP, but I cannot find the drivers for it, is there anywhere that I can get them from?

  I checked Toshiba's support page and for this laptop model WXP drivers are not available. This model is not supported for Windows XP Home edition.

  Only chance for you is to use the drivers of models supported, but with the same or similar hardware configuration.
  It will be hard work for this knowledge. You will probably not be able to have full laptop configured but I sure that you will be able to make good hardware configuration with specific stuff missing from Toshiba, but I think that it is not so important to m.

  For example:

  -GM45 chipset driver > you can use THIS
  -display driver ATI M92XT > you can use THIS one
  -driver sound is Realtek ALC272

  I'm having a problem with my A500-1GH. Randomly the screen goes black and then recovers by showing a message "display driver stopped responding and was retrieved successfully." My graphics card is Nvidia GeForce 330. I read many things, but all reviews were old - since the beginning of the year and nobody has solved this problem then. Do you know if there is now a solution for this?

  The laptop is brand new (respectively the windows is brand new) and the drivers and bios are up-to-date.

  Yes, it is a known problem with the vga driver in this forum. Already, you said it yourself, nobody has solved this problem :( I can just recommend you try to install a vga from nvidia.com driver. In my case, I have NVIDIA Gt 230 M, driver update has solved.
