410 XPS Boot problem

HELLO there once more. Dell XPS 410, Win7 Home Premium 64-bit. 4 GB of RAM. Updated for the reader to boot SSD and 500 g WD HDD. Sapphire Radeon video card update. This device, once it starts, is incredible. The problem, he often goes to an amber light and race to the power up fans. When it crashes with a green power light, numbers 3 & 4 stay on but it will not complete the boot process. When I can spend that, it works like a champ. There must be a problem somewhere that can be very simple. Thoughts?

Thanks in advance for any help!

3, 4 is a RAM error. If carefully Reseat all memory modules in their slots.

If this does not help, remove all modules except location 1. See if it works with a couple of reboots. Then trade all modules in slot 1 and test. If they all work in location 1, add a module to not slot 2 and test until all modules are resettled and no problem neither you ID a bad location.

If one of them fails in slot 1, you will need to replace it as a pair.

  • {a} speaker on a clean install, XPS 410 - Spware Possible problems / Malware *.

I recently did a clean install on my XPS 410 due to blue screen problems when you set up a wireless network in my house.  Everything seemed to go well--is something that I did several times on multiple computers, this one included.  But this time my speaker system (Dell A525 30 Watt stereo speakers with subwoofer 2.1) obviously caused a problem.  I have the drivers for all my devices on my external hard drive, and they are labeled.  The driver for the loaded speaker system but was still yellow in Device Manager.  I also kept getting the message directly after loading windows: "entry point procedure LocalizeString is not found in the dynamic library STLang.dll."  I could click OK and continue. Slowly.  I looked on the net and find it is quite frequent - everyone seems to have a way to heal, but there are always strings, and none of them work in all cases.  One thing all agreed terms of sound equipment.  And it was the only yellow marked item, I had.  In fact, he showed in device as Manager: "SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC".

I became exasperated to the point I disconnected the sound system and removed from the room!  I have attached an old Dell speaker system and it worked for a few sounds and then stopped.  Finally, I removed the original system, as shown just on top, using Add/Remove programs.  After the message has disappeared so I am sure it was the problem.  Then, when I couldn't others in work, I decided to restore to the point just before I removed this system 'SigmaTel '.  Fake!  Of course, he came back as did the error message and I have been unable to get these old speakers installed no matter how hard I tried!  (I don't have the driver for that precisely, but the required system to come with something that didn't work).  Again, I tried to uninstall the SigmaTel program but it wouldn't let me!  It would take me to a Web site that was of no use to me.

In its current form, I spilled the system restore point and the SigmaTel is gone as is the error message.  But I have no system of his work on my 410.

Any ideas out there?  I was a member of this community almost since the first day and have had excellent results in the past.  I bet that someone knows how to help me.  (Anyone remember Denny Denham?  I know he's not there to help more. Always wondered what happened to him.)

    Thanks in advance.  Bessie

It is up to you, but analysts on sites like SpywareInfoForums, SpywareHammer, Bleeping Computer, Geeks to go, The technical support Forumsand MalwareRemoval Forums, in contrast to support tech OEM and other forums, are trained to stay with you to the resolution and to remove their tools (assuming that yields of poster for tracking) so that they do not remain on the system to help you "trouble." They probably perform you analyses to one or two who will spot (hopefully) corresponding to this registry entry. After that, they will give you a registry file that you can download and double-click to merge with your registry. This should solve the problem. We have used to do this free individual support here, but Dell abandoned a year ago.

I wish you luck for any route you choose to take.

  • Start XPS 600 problem

First of all Hello to everyone. I'm kinda new to this but I learned a little. This is my problem though:

When I try to turn on my computer, it starts normally until it gets to the windows startup screen. About 3 quarters of the way she stops giving me an error code 0 x 0000024. Do the research, I learned that it was a problem with the NTFS file and I should be able to fix it by running chkdsk: / f on a safe mode or the recovery console. However, I'm not able to boot up to any mode that I see the BSOD on each particular option. When I try to launch the dell xp installation cd to repair windows, it is said that he is not able to detect any drive. I have a XPS 600 with 2 Samsung 160 GB Sata drives. I learned from the audit of my bios that they are in a Raid configuration. I ran the diagnostic dell on both discs test as instructed by the dell technology and both passes. I try to avoid the worst case scenario which was to reformat the entire disk. Does anyone have a solution for this fix? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I did further research and found some of the nvidia drivers rom for the Sata drives I have, the only problem is that they require a 3.5 start and my system did not come with it.

  • 410 XPS memory upgrade

I just installed 2 GB RAM for my XPS 410 to increase my total to 4 GB. I ordered a Dell certified memory specific for the 410 and installed according to manual. The manual recommends to check the General properties of the system to make sure the facility. When the computer reboots, the computer has recognized the newly installed memory and I press F1 to continue. When I checked the General properties of the system it says I have only 3 GB installed currently. Wondering if this a common occurrence? If there is somewhere else to check current installed memory? Is she more likely one of the slots of memory is faulty or the card memory itself? Is there a system check that I can run to determine the problem? Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

  • Tecra S10 - 123 and Linux Mandriva boot problem

I have a Tecra S10 - 123 for two months and wanted to install Mandriva on it (I have no experience with Linux...). I burn the Image on Cd image .iso file and changed the bios settings to boot from the CD-ROM. It works without problem, but Mandriva stops to boot from the Live Cd once the kernel is loaded.

    What can I do?

Maybe it's a SATA question, have you tried to set the SATA Mode in the BIOS to "COMPATIBILITY"?

Work the other flavors of Linux? Maybe Ubuntu will install properly.

  • Satellite A660 - boot problems USB after BIOS update

    Hello

I own a Toshiba Satellite A660 and have recently updated the BIOS with the latest version (1.80). Since then, the laptop freezes on the splash screen (the one with the Toshiba logo) whenever a USB flash memory is attached.
It works without the memory flash connected and if I connect it after I enter the starting or the BIOS Setup menu. I can even start her like that.
As far as I'm concerned, this is a serious regression. Is there a way I can downgrade to the version of the BIOS, or any other way to solve this problem? I rely heavily on external USB drives.

    Kind regards
    Claudiu.

    Claudiu salvation,

That is really interesting, I have to say so I tested on my new Satellite A660 and Transcend 4 GB USB Stick. Well, I also installed 1.80 BIOS but I can t view this problem HARD drive is set as first boot device and all the other BIOS settings are default. The Toshiba screen and Windows computer starts as usual.
    No problem at all!

Have you tested different USB devices?

In General, it is not possible to downgrade BIOS. It is possible to an authorized service because Toshiba on page you can download the latest version only but I doubt it s a bug in the new version of BIOS because it works on my A660.

  • Satellite PRO C660 - 1LR Boot problem

Had this laptop for a little less than 2 months, was in course of running really slow so I backed up my data and do a factory reset, during the reset of the machine restarts automatically several times. After about 6 reboots everything I got a black with a cursor screen (ctrl + alt + delete does not work), the cursor moves but nothing happens, I guess that something was wrong with the recovery so I id try again, only to find the menu F8 at boot is no longer list of computer repair. Ive tried to boot from a CD but when I press '0' and press F12 when prompted, nothing happens, I'll be just the screen windows mem test.

Also, trying to get into the bios, I press F2 when prompted and the message very quickly becomes "HDD Recovery" then continues towards the screen of windows mem test.
So im a bit stuck now, I tried to remove the power and battery all night, but that did not help either.

Any suggestions how to get this working again?

    Hello

You mean that you cannot access the BIOS?
To access the BIOS, you will need to press F2, immediately after pressing the power button. You can press F2 repeatedly in the line to make sure it worked.

    > Ive tried to boot from a CD but when I press '0' and press F12 when prompted, nothing happens, I just go back to the screen of windows mem test.

In order to boot from recovery disc, just press F12 (don t press the 0 key). This should allow the start on-screen menu. Then you may choose the CD/DVD drive as the boot source

But this sounds like a hardware problem; I think memory or HARD drive problem so maybe that these two parts must be checked also.

There is a nice tool called Drive Fitness Test that allows to test the HARD drive for errors

  • Satellite L50D - Boot problems after replacing the hard drive

I just upgraded my hard drive of the pathetic crod 5400 they provide to a SSHD@7200rpm, but now have a major issue.

I initially image the operating system from the old hard drive to the new drive and have had chronic start-up problems (1-3-4 attempts to start to succeed if it fails at any time (often to the Toshiba start screen)).

I reinstalled from a drive under Win 8.1 plain own ENT (trying to avoid the bloatware) and it is exactly the same number and is what I used to format the laptop very well with previously and had previously worked.

I tried reformatting and reinstalling (by removing all partitions on each attempt) to the CSM, unsafe UEFI and UEFI secure. MCS is a straight line never works not proceed and both UEFI methods have the same exact result.

I tried with original restore disks and it seems to work (not had time to fully test) but I don't want the bloatware and it shouldn't be serious since, if I were a customer who forgot to make restore disks (too often) and just have to have a failed hard drive or replaced sacrificed the laptop would be now a door stop.

This seems as bad as Apple to lock people in.

So I would appreciate ideas of people to please, I don't know if there is a program that is supposed to take place on a new drive as PS3 etc (I doubt it), but that leads me into the wall, and will be the last time that I consider Toshiba as anything other than a joke, if there is no solution.

I had to replace the hard disks many times in my previous Toshiba laptops and were devoid of this crod, it has something to do with UEFI which seems more a nuisance than a help right now.

    TIA.

    Hello

In my opinion, you should first check if the startup problem is related to the new installed HARD drive or new installed system.
You said that the laptop fails to start up often to the Toshiba start screen.

The splash screen appears during the POST (power on self-test) procedure. During this test, the material will be checked.
I m wondering if the hybrid SSD/HDD isn't recognised by the BIOS during this particular step.

From my point of few, this could be the reason why the system cannot be started.

    Another important note:
The 8.1 win requires enable start secure as well as the UEFI boot mode.
Therefore, you must enable both options in the BIOS.

Last but not least check if you are using the latest BIOS version as latest firmware for the hybrid SSD/HDD

  • 10.11.4 boot problems - black and white death

Hi people, write here after a weekend of failed attempts to get my iMac 27 "2009 to recover.  I see there are many good suggestions out there on this general problem and I am hoping someone can give some specific advice, as I am now out of options.

The problem started when I first noticed the screen was all black, but the cursor to move.  I think the problem started 20 or March 21 since the last backup Time Machine was to the 20th.  I had seen this occasionally over the years and so just turned off and restarted.  This time it got stuck on the white screen with the Apple logo and progress bar at halfway.  Finally reading the forum that I realized that I could actually blind the connection by pressing the right keys and hard drive noises I could say it was starting up my apps.  But the screen remains blank, just the cursor moved.  I even tried to remote into my Macbook but that just brought to the top of the black screen too!

That's so the State of the rest across machine try the following:

    1. Tried to reinstall the OS 10.11.4, it installed OK, but on reboot I have come back to the white screen of death.
    2. Tried Time Machine backup recovery, twice, first go to the last point of restoration, then among a few days earlier which was 10.11.3
    3. Wiped my Bootcamp partition and installed 10.11.4, showed the first home screen, and then it would freeze.  I could access it from secure boot, but could never get the boot on a regular basis at work, the screen remains white death.
    4. Secure boot works on both partitions, but which is as far as I can get it.  Start, I tried the suggestion of delete some items in the Library/Extensions folder, but that did not help.
    5. I also tried to remove the power cable for a minute and restart.  And the thing with now the key Alt Cmd (?) and P and W to erase the memory.  But no help.
    6. I tried to run the diagnostics of material that came on the boot floppies, CD Rom drive would turn a few times, but would not read the disc for some reason any.

I think that's it, maybe I tried a few other permutations, but it has been a long weekend, and it's all beginning to fade now.

Since all the restorations did not work it feels like it may be a hardware problem, but it's so consistent in where it fails / stalls on startup and safe mode works OK, it always makes me think that it may be a software.  There is a flash on the right screen to where it crashes on the bar, progress which makes me wonder if this might be the card or display driver problem, but really guess right now.  One last thing that I might have to try is a full erase of all partitions and create a USB stick to boot from.  But I am quite doubtful that it works in light of all other alternatives, I tried.

Additional ideas would be very appreciated, I know that I had the machine for a long time and many would say it is time to upgrade, but I'm not quire ready for this yet, it really worked great, just a little slow on the restart of the (who fortunately have been rare so far!)

  • Portege R100, PXE - boot problem - E61:Media Test failure, check cable

My portege r100 4004GAH original hard drive has had some problems recently, so I decided to replace it with a bigger 4006GAH. Specifications, it seemed that it would be appropriate.

So I tried to install standard windows top. Unfortunately as I soon discovered that didn't work and lead to BSOD. I looked online and remembered that I had in fact to use the recovery of three discs. Fortunately for me I still had the freshly sealed and I've also owned a combined remarkable Targus CD drive supported. If in the three discs are gone. All seemed well and after that the last drive ended, I was asked to remove the disc. The laptop has rebooted and then gave me the

PXE - E61:Media Test failure, check cable
PXE - M0F: Exit Intel PXE ROM
    Insert system disk
    Press a key to continue...

I thought it might be in the order of start, but verified that and it seemed right. HD was first. I also changed the order and the same error came.
I thought while another component of my laptop may be broken. So I put my old hard drive in. It started fine.
The next thought that the new hard drive was defective.

Fortunately, this is not the case. Because when I used the recovery disks not only heard disk hard turns to the top, but the hard drives were detected and recovery installation displays the correct memory size.

I'm completely stumped on hat w what is the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

It is not easy to say what the problem is but you said the Portege started fine with the old HDD. So I think that there is something wrong with the new.

In your case I test the HARD drive with a special tool like Drive Fitness Test. Download the CD image, burn it to a CD and boot from it. Then you can test the HARD drive.
On the same site is a user's guide if you want to know more.

In addition I am interested in what you have the same problem with a Microsoft installation disc if you have one.
So try if your HARD disk has no errors.

    Hi uygur,.

at first I thought your problem your laptop want boot from LAN.

Check the BIOS, could be formulated with pushing the ESC key when the Red TOSHIBA logo appears, enter on boot order (First Boot Device).

I think that your PC is the first device to set startup to local network.

Try this and keep me posted!

  • Satellite Pro L850 - 1 KM-boot problem

    Hello

I recently bought a toshiba laptop (model in the title), but it comes with Windows 8 (ewww) so I decided to format the hard drive (delete all hidden partitions too because I will create my own backup image later) that I did with success. However, the above was made using the tools provided by Toshiba (by pressing 0 at startup).

Now, here's the problem. I had a Windows 7 disc which is bootable and changed the boot order in the bios so it starts from the CD, USB, network HARD drive. For some reason, the laptop does not recognize the media bootable (CD/USB) and instead comes up with a message "media!: [Fail]". " I even downloaded the ultimate Boot disk to see if that starts, but I get the same message.

    What I am doing wrong?

PS: I do not have the recovery disks and now I am unable to access the disc utilities by pressing 0 at the start as I wiped the hard drive clean.

I put t know what you're doing wrong.
You use the original installation disk Microsoft (Win7)?

Set the BIOS to the default settings, start Notepad and press F12 to get into the boot menu. When the menu is displayed on the screen put this Win7 disc into the optical disc drive, in the menu, choose the CD/DVD drive and press ENTER.

What happens when you do this?

By the way: you have created a recovery media until you killed the factory settings?

I bought the above my local PC World yesterday. Was to restore the system myself (only the demo model is available, do not have the time to wait for them to restore, so I accepted and ended up with 100 pounds).

Anyway, the problem-it hangs during startup, when it reaches the Windows desktop but no icons, menu start, task bar etc. If the communication wireless off switch is turned on, it boots correctly (it will even complete the boot if you stop after that it crashes).

The wireless works fine once started.

    Thank you

    Hello

    What demo was available?
As far as I know that the Toshiba come with a recovery CD. In this case, you must only retrieve the device with this CD. As Miro said that if you got this unit with the recovery CD, the operating system should work without any problems.
In addition, you can try to update the wireless driver.
