4Rx4 mix T620 & 1Rx4 DIMM

Hello

We have a T620 PowerEdge provided with 32 GB of ram, 4 x 8 GB DIMMS 1Rx4 (Hynix HMT41GR7AFR4A). We have upgraded to 64GB 4 x 8 GB 1Rx4 (Samsung M393B1G70BHO) DIMMs.

We have now updated again to 384 GB with 12 x 32 GB 4Rx4 DIMM (Hynix DELL server memory 32GB DDR3 1600 MHz 1.35v QRLVRD 4Rx4)

I always like to keep the modules of 8GB.

Is it possible to mix with 8 4Rx4 8 1Rx4 and if yes what slots should I use? Is there a backdraws? Or I'll sell them?

Thank you!

Hello.

Yes, they can be mixed. However, the 4Rx4 8 which is a quad stored memory module must be installed first; That is to say on the slots with white sleeves and then 8 1Rx4 a Single Rank module.

    Hello

Dave would work rather than Jim.

I suspect that HP has fill not the 8 GB DIMMs in your PC model when it came out on the market, where the reason for not showing the configurations with 8 GB DIMMs.

Mixture of DIMM may or may not work and I saw all the messages on this forum to indicate success or failure with the mix 8 GB DIMM sizes with your HP PC model.

You could try buying two packs of two 8 GB DIMM if reallly you need more memory and see which combination works as appropriate.  You may need to go with 32 GB, but then you might face a decision of performance cost verses. If you can get 24GO to work then return the other DIMM package.

Find out what the return policy is before you buy.

  • PowerEdge T320 compatible memory

    Hello

I had a server T320 with single processor, I has 4 GB of RAM, I want to expand the memory at least 16 GB.

Is there a list of compatible memory modules that can be used

    Here is an example

    HMT31GR7BFR4C-PB Hynix

    Samsung M393B1G70QH0-YK0

    HP 605313-071 Micron

If I can get the memory of 510 Poweredge servers can also allow here.

    Thank you

    BHU

Outside the group that you listed, the only one that looks like it might be compatible would be the Hynix. More glancing DIMMS for the R510, there is a bar shared memory, but it's a 2GB. I don't see any other compatible crossing those listed. Thus, it can be up to error on those you have.

Also you can mix brands of memory, as the population of DIMMs can be different as long as the population for each socket mode and rules.

  • Product number: H5Q15AAR #ABA: jasmine - can I mix 4 gb and 8 gb DIMMS (Envy 700-056)

System was delivered with 3 x 4 GB DIMMS, I added a 8 GB DIMMS and thought I was hapily using 20 GB of RAM!

HP Support assistance - bios auto update and a new motherboard later I found a software that took place previously (VMWARE) complained I didn't have enough RAM.

Windows says 20 GB (11.9 GB useful)

I'm going to buy a second 8GB Dimm thought I can pair 2x4gb and 2x8GB - slots are color coded for couples.

I've lived all combinations and still Windows says 24 GB (11.9 useful) unless I completely remove DIMMs to 4 GB - I straight go 16GB.

All four DIMMS must match though. I need 4x8Go to get 32GB - all other systems I've owned was satisfied with the match.

I suspect my motherboard has a bad slot replacement sort but haven't 4x4GB DIMM to prove that.

    Any help would be great!

    Thank you, FITCS.

Thanks - I'll let it pass and go buy an enthusiast/Gamer box where I can more easily Exchange components.

Just to say it again if - memory passes all tests memory BIOS - tool diag HP short and long tests.  So the BIOS suggests that it is happy.  It isn't okay that suggests the test BIOS does not use memory in the same way as Windows 8

The BIOS provides much less control than I'm used to-when I migrated to the new machine, I'll see what I can do with the upgrade of the BIOS and the violin bit more.

It does not matter what combination of I put two DIMM memory slots, I see and can use all of it.  Only when I arrived on the 3rd slot & 4th I have problems.

One mistake I've seen during this process is the tool display options diag showed the 4 slot for wrong info but a relocation has taken care of that.

I appreciate all the answers - if she get finally work DIMM 4 slots I'll answer here with how it was done.  Although, I'm not going to buy another 4 x 8 GB DIMMS to test the manufacturer of memory as being the issue.

Great to see HP have such a vibrant community and customer service - (thank you Lorraine!  I don't think I've fully recovered since the updates to the BIOS has failed, but the service was stellar!)

  • r720XD mix with 2RX8 2RX4?

It seems that Dell doesn't sell memory modules RAM 8 GB 2RX4 more. They recommend 2RX8 and 1Rx4 for the R720XD.

Can I mix and match my old 2RX4 with the new 2RX8? According to me, the manual said no, but it looked like a casual recommendation and not a big warning "BOLD".

    I have 12 modules installed.

    DUAL IN-LINE MEMORY MODULE, 8GB, 1600, 2RX4, 2 G, DDR3L, R

What they are referring to is that only one type of DIMMS is authorized by the system: UDIMM, RDIMMS or LRDIMMs. They cannot be mixed. The R720XD supports DIMM mixture, as indicated on the bottom of page 43 42, as well as the upper part, here.

    Frank Fitzpatrick

For the mac Pro 2010, is the question, what SIZE is each DIMM?

0.5 GB, 1 GB, 2 GB and 4 GB are all unregistered in any case.

8 GB could go either way - old those who could be saved, is not the ones you bought in recent years.

16 GB and 32 GB are still recorded.

  • Memory mixed config for a Precision T5500

I just got a T5500 with 6 GB of RAM recommended in it as three 2 GB in memory slots DIMM1/DIMM2/DIMM3 RDIMMs. The RDIMMS is double rank RAM Samsung M393B5673EH1-CH9 =.

I think to buy three double 4 GB row RDIMMs of the Samsung same '1 GB E-die/72-bit ECC/78FBGA' "production group" and put in DIMM1/DIMM2/DIMM3 and join the current RDIMMs DIMM4/DIMM5/DIMM_6. The 4 GB RDIMMs would be M393B5170EH1-CH9.

I don't know if the production group is the right terminology.

I realize that I might well be able to add many other types of RAM recommended for this machine.

Samsung to these RDIMMs documentation (more info that I need way) is at the ADDRESS below.

The configuration of the memory I want to run is not in the supported list. [The commas in the list are to avoid any compression of empty tank, if this site is.]

The installation guide says (in a configuration CPU 1) "If configuration contains DIMMs of mixed sizes, fill the DIMMS over first." Which means that my 4 GB RDIMMS should be in DIMM1/DIMM2/DIMM3.

Everyone here an experience to try a config memory like that in a T5500? Any other comments would be welcome.

    Thanks for reading all this!

I ran two tests and the results are...

This memory mixed configuration worked well for me in two different T5500s. YMMV of course because it is not a "supported Memory Configurations." This means that, at the time of publication, cycle of these machines that Dell did not test for this config work in all situations and so compatibility can be a somewhat random thing in some situations.

Tests show below that for my 2 T5500s this config memory ran without error and at the same speed memory whereby each T5500 will run normally. None of these two T5500s run RAM at 1333 MHz maximum rate, because that will not support the processors they have in them. A single processor supports 1066 MHz RAM and the other RAM 800 MHz. If this test would have been done with a Xeon X 5550 or better (support 1333 MHz) then maybe a slight slowing in speed of RAM might have emerged... who knows.

The tests below were made with the Samsung M393B5673EH1-CH9 2 GB DIMM (PC3-10600R/DDR3-1333), I mentioned in the 1st post. For the DIMMs to 4 GB, I used low voltage Samsung M393B5170FH0-YH9 DIMM (PC3L-10600R/DDR3-1333) because that's what I have on the spot. I never knew before that you can mix normal and low-voltage DIMM, but I found a post about it on this forum. With the T5500/T7500, you can mix (YMMV) as long as you keep them in different banks/groups.

Banks of memory triple channel/groups are a T5500 (one per line):
    DIMM1/DIMM2/DIMM3
    DIMM4, DIMM5/DIMM6
the DIMM card 3 riser (if you have a 2nd CPU)

The two tests below are with 4 GB DIMM in DIMM1/DIMM2/DIMM3 and 2 GB DIMMS in DIMM4, DIMM5/DIMM_6 and not riser card/2nd of processor installed. All DIMMs are double row (2Rx4/2Rx8). For me, it was suggested by someone I respect that mix DIMMS with different grades is generally not a hot idea (YMMV). In a T5500 if you have mixed DIMM size then put DIMMs larger on riser if you on the other put them in DIMM1/DIMM2/DIMM3. In each memory/bank group, you want to have the same kind of RAM. Fact all in threes is optimal and strongly suggested.

The first machine I've tried was a T5500 2011 (mobo 0CRH6C) with a Xeon E5504 CPU. It seems that all processors E5506 or less only supports memory at 800 MHz and the E5504 is in this bucket. This means that a MEMORY faster barrette would "clock down" at 800 MHz. I did a test of 24 h on Memtest86 + v5 of the mixed config 4 GB / 2 GB DIMM without any error. The BIOS set the RAM at 800 MHz = PC3-6400/DDR3-800 speeds. It is somewhat a waste of speed, but the problem isn't with the CPU, the RAM.

The second computer I tried was a T5500 2009 (0CRH6C mobo) and the CPU was a Xeon E5640. It seems that E5550 CPU or higher support 1333 MHz memory and processors E5520 or higher support 1066 MHz memory. It seems that the E5640 is into the 2nd bucket (1066 MHz support).

I did a test of 12 hr Memtest86 + v5 of the mixed config 4 GB / 2 GB DIMM without any error. The BIOS has set 1 066 = PC3-8500/DDR3-1066 MHz RAM. Again, the slowdown has been because of the CPU.

The stickers on the 2 mobos time say 0CRH6C, but the numbers after that are a little different, so there may be a slight variation here. The T5500 2009 has the latest version of the BIOS and the 2011 has still an early BIOS (A06?).

The performance of memory at a slightly slower speed... I think that if you are using a computer that had the memory was idle a little you would have a hard time 'feel the difference' due to the fact that location main memory you want at some point is probably already in the L1/L2/L3 on the CPU cache.

Benchmarks can certainly show little difference because of the slowdown in speed of RAM, but if you are clicking on a computer and it is 5% faster or slow it's will all feel the same.

All comments/comments are quite welcome, especially on what memory speeds supported are for the processors that the T5500 can take (also T7500).

I notice that in the very recent thread started by the user claytonb entitled "Memory Configuration in Precision T5500" he has a very similar memory configuration and it works for him.

It seems that I can't join this post if a screw link follows.

  • Sizes of mixed memory in Dell R710 to reach speeds of 1333 mhz and 800 mhz

We have some Dell R710 which was originally ordered with 48 GB in a configuration of 1333 mhz 12x4Go (RDIMMS). We ordered 6 sticks of memory of 4 GB 1333 mhz additional to complete all 18 banks for a total of 72 GB.  The speed of the memory, then decreased to running at 800 mhz.  We had immediately complaints on the performance in some of our mission critical VM (terminal Server and SQL DBs servers), so we have VMotion their due on a R710 still on the original 12x4Go config clocked at 1333 mhz and complaints went.  I spoke with pre-sales both Dell and after-sales technical support and they confirm that filling all 18 banks decreases speed to 800 mhz, but I get conflicting reports which must be running 12 banks (which is configured as 2 of the 3 banks available in each 6 channels) at 1 066 mhz now which is not. Still, both say that my best option is to return the modules to 4 GB bought recently and also pull the original 12x4Go modules and replace them all by 12x8Go 96GB and should operate at 1333 mhz.  It is really more memory I need and almost three times that I have already budgeted and spent on extra 4 GB of purchase sticks.

The other option, you said I could do, as well as that of my question is to mix 6x4Go and 6X8Go, up to 72 GB.  I see also that is a configuration of memory available on the Dell Web site during the construction a R710, and he said 1333 mhz as well.  Technical support before and after had these things to say, and it makes me a little nervous because this isn't an absolute 'you'll be fine:

    prior support guy:

"Everything I read or say confirms that it is perfectly fine to mix the modules in sizes too long as modules within each channel are the same size." I think it can be recommended by most to ensure the consistency of the size but as I said before that we have in our new server system configurations to be cited with mixed sizes what makes me even more confident that is you went this route you would be fine and little or no experience in performance decline. »

    support after guy:

"Regarding your new question on the use of 6 DIMM 4 GB mixed with 8 GB for a total of 72 GB, which is not an optimum configuration, but I don't think you should really meet a lot of problems with it."  I mentioned before that if you mix speeds, it will downclock fastest at the speed of slow DIMM DIMMS, so certainly would advise against mixing speeds. Regarding the size, the only thing you might encounter as it is booting, you can hear this isn't an optimal configuration, but it should detect any memory and be able to make use of this.  Don't think there is really a performance reached unless you're missing speeds.  «Also, don't forget to reflect your configuration across all channels, if you do not want all of the 4 GB and 8 GB in the same configuration such that put all 8 GB in slots 1/2/3, then put the 4 GB DIMMs in 4/5/6 on both machines slot A and B.»

So the real question is - if it is not a "optimal" configuration, which makes it means the actual performance of my vSphere servers?  All done and they have problems?

    Thank you

    Ben

How about using 8x8GB sticks for each host? You'd get to 64 GB each... I'd like to see if Dell will allow you to trade in the memory, you do not have to purchase new memory inside the host... Or look for another provider of memory which will provide you with the correct memory at a better price.

  • Mixed memory in HP DL385 G6

I just got in a new HP DL385 G6 to add to my cluster (and ease my transition to vSphere). I bought it with 8 GB x 4 modules corresponds to the memory of our existing hosts, and allow it to be upgraded to a maximum of 128 GB.

I also have a bunch of 2 GB of memory (brand HP, same speed / type as the memory of 8 GB) which would be wise to fill some of the empty slots up to what order us in addition to the 8 GB sticks.

Someone had some performance issues with mixture of modules of different size memory (all modules are of the same manafacturer and speed)? I have two nodes of memory processor balanced in exactly the same configuration (8,8,2,2,2,2, E, E) where E = empty.

We mix 4 GB and 2 GB DIMMS in our G6 servers with no problems, as long as they are paired.

  • Precise control of mixer

    Hello

I wonder, is it possible to precisely drag/move/move and knobs in Logic Pro X mixer? I mean that normally if you click and hold the slider and make it slide simultaneously works normally. But as I remember in other DAWs method with using the key 'control', or 'command' or something like that and that didn't exist by dragging the sliders is very slow with accuracy.

But I can't find this option in Logic Pro. Could you help me? Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm sorry for the stupid question, I would never ask for such a thing in the forum, but I really just spend an hour to find the answer in google. Without doubt, I used the wrong keywords, but I tried a lot of things and found nothing that helps me. So maybe you could help me?

Everyone knows the same problem as me watching their new iphone 7/7plus?

I noticed the two 7 resolution of the display of the model were more yellowish and weaker than previous models, even if each of them had their brightness set to the maximum value.

Anyone has an idea why is it like that? Thank you!

From left to right (iphone 7plus, 7, 6 and 5 years)

    Hello

I thought I was the only one with this problem! I noticed exactly the same where my 6s displays blanks that are white just neutral and my iPhone 7 tends to be on the warm side. I don't know why, but this effect when the iPhone screen 7 is dimmer reminds me of AMOLED screens.

My idea would be that the glue between the LCD and the glass needs time to completely dry, but I m not sure.

Also, I noticed that my iPhone 6s is much smoother. In particular, the animation when you click the home button feels liquid smooth on my 6 s, then the iPhone 7 feels like the animation is cut into two pieces.

Last thing I noticed during the last 24 hours is overheating. If she's in charge, making simple tasks, this new phone overheat very easily.

  • My mix of favorites not here

So I am using iOS 10 beta through the summer and noticed not long ago that Apple activated the my new Mix of music in music from Apple. So far, this mix has been really good to send me songs, I'm a bit interested. However, I know, it is also supposed to be a mix as well Favorites available. The screenshots, I think it was supposed to be a shot away from the my new mix of music. On my camera, it is not there. I closed and restarted the application several times and nothing. Restarted my phone, nothing. Waited a week so he can refresh, nothing. Thought maybe I had also expected the release official iOS 10, but now that's come and gone and nothing. I also downloaded the new iTunes today and it is to show the new mix of music but not the Favorites to mix.

At this point, I am of ideas. Has he had a similar problem and found a solution?

I have the same problem. Unfortunately, I have not found a solution either.

I have an annoying feature (12.4.3.1 on iTunes on a Mac), that some artists to artist only, we show more than once, and occasional songs are also divided the correct view, to 'Artists' only - perfectly fine for the Album, for example. In addition, the problem is not repeated on my iPhone after sync.

I have tried the 'Mixed' cure, however even when I manually fix all the correct artist album (by removing the artist and retype it manually), the Information still "mixed" shows grayed out below the artist. It's boring, rather than the end of the world but someone at - it a cure for this please?
