5.2 CSA and Local SQL 2005

After reviewing the http://cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/csa/csa52/install_guide/CSA52IG.pdf for the system requirements, I stumbled on the following.

Hardware configurations:

1 single Pentium 4 processor (3 Ghz +) with 2 GB of RAM

2 dual processor Xeon (2.5 Ghz +) with 4 GB of RAM

Only 1 hardware configuration supports Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Workgroup Edition or Standard Edition with their limit of 4 GB RAM.

According to the above documentation, can it really be true that Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Workgroup or Standard ed. does not work with the hardware configuration 2?

Can someone shed some light on why this wouldn't work or check if it works? I had planned on using the hardware configuration 2 with SQL Server 2005, but now I'm unsure if it will work.

Each configuration will work.

(1) SQL 2005 Standard does not have the limitation of the RAM, he's going as high as the RAM of the OS.

(2) limitation of the memory for the Express and the Working Group is that it will not use that much, not that it will not work if you have more (or less for that matter).

  • vCenter on vOrchestrator on SQL 2005 and SQL 2008?

I was reading the support for vCenter and vOrchestrator matrix and was surprised to see that vCenter is fully supported on SQL 2008 but vOrchestrator is only supported on SQL 2005. As we all migrate to SQL 2008, we want to install as many vSPhere on SQL 2008 as possible. Is - it possible/decision-making supported to install vSphere on SQL 2008 and then separately install vOrchestrator on SQL 2005? Installing vCenter it seems to me that if both components have been installed at the same time, but maybe it was because I was in a lab environment and went with the built-in SQL Express.

Any word on what vOrchestrator will support SQL 2008? I really don't like VMware may not have common requirements for all their products. I know that vOrchestorator was an acquisition, but still... come on people! Life is complicated enough.

vCenter and Orchestrator use their own databases, you can install vCenter on SQL 2008 and Orchestrator 2005 without problem.

  • vCenter and SQL 2005 Express on the same physical machine

I'm new on the VMware environment and am a little concerned about my VMware infrastructure and design.  I have 3 boxes physical accommodation 15 virtual servers.  I have a 4th server that hosts the database SQL and vcenter.  I am wondering what are my chances of having vCenter and SQL 2005 express installed on the same box?  That suggest VMware as best practices concerning this configuration?  If this configuration is ok, what are my options to protect myself in case the box with vCenter and the SQL database dies?  Thank you

VMware sets a limitation to 5 guests and 50 wen invited you use SQL Express. I run it with 6 guests and 48 guests (incl. models) on the same machine as the server vcenter. That's not what I want to keep and we will change to a standard SQL 2005 on a separate server from SQL (which we had with SQL 2000 and before VI3).

But I didn't have one problem with this configuration, again.

With both on the same server may lead to a conflict: SQL 2005 requires IIS but vCenter uses ports. So I installed it but disabled.

I think also that separating the two tracks faster that have it all on the same box.

  • Database of SQL 2005 with Site Recovery Manager

    Hello

I want to install Site Recovery Manager.  I have a few questions about the configuration of database.  In my for the database installation steps

    I have the following:

    -

For Microsoft SQL Server, the database must be configured as follows:

1 schema name must be the same on behalf of the user, and you must have a default schema for the user account

2 bulk insert of administrator privileges

    3. If Windows authentication is used, install the SRM service on a host that shares the same domain as the database server

    4. If SQL Server is installed locally, you may need to disable the network setting shared memory on the database server

    -

I have almost 0 experience with SQL 2005.

How to make sure that the schema name must be the same as the user name? My username is "vcadmin".

How can you "Bulk insert administrator privleges.

    Thank you all...

I'm not an expert SQL 2005 is... DB2 is my thing ahead of VMware

    CREATE SCHEMA vcadmin

    AUTHORIZATION vcadmin.

    GO

will create the scheme of vcadmin with vcadmin be the owner. In SQL Server 2005, each user will have a default schema, and if no default schema has been assigned to a user, they will be part of the DBO schema.

the format for the granting of insertion block is:

GRANT ADMINISTER BULK OPERATIONS TO VCADMIN

You can also just do your username VCADMIN the owner of the database when you create the database.

  • Connection of ColdFusion with MS SQL 2005

Please help with this question, if you have any suggestions. I am trying to establish a connection to my IIS with ColdFusion server to another local server with a database of MS SQL 9.0. I can connect to this database using Enterprise from another computer, but when I use the same user name and password in ColdFusion I get the following error:

Connection verification failed for data source: FORMS
java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia] [SQLServer JDBC Driver] [SQL Server] Login failed for user 'domain\coldfusion '. The user is not associated with a SQL Server login that is approved.
The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia] [SQLServer JDBC Driver] [SQL Server] Login failed for user 'domain\coldfusion '. The user is not associated with a SQL Server login that is approved.

I have reinstalled ColdFusion without error and have also installed the JDBC MS MS SQL 2005 driver but still the same error.

Thanks for your suggestions you may have.

    Craig

If there is no one else with this problem, I have something you can try. It worked for me and I can't connect to SQL 2005 using ODBC Socket. The IIS computer has been using the system identification information and not the power of ColdFusion, I had created.

On the ColdFusion application server goto the properties of the Server ODBC and the CF officer. Under LogOn change the connection information for the username and password you have set up for ColdFusion for both and then restart these services. When you configure your ODBC Socket do not include the username or password information.

I hope that CF8 will include Windows authentication. Even with this workaround, we will have to mixed authentication on SQL which is not ideal.

  • CF8 and MS SQL 2000

I have a few problems to connect to a MS SQL local database that I created. I have a new installation of the version of CF8 dev and uses the eval MS SQL 2000 version. I can connect to a remote SQL database very well, the problem comes when I try to connect to a local database. This is the error I get:

Connection verification failed for data source: noblesqlLOCAL
java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia] [SQLServer JDBC Driver] Error establishing socket to host and port: localhost:1433. Reason: Connection refused: connect
The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia] [SQLServer JDBC Driver] Error establishing socket to host and port: localhost:1433. Reason: Connection refused: connect

I noticed some people have solved this problem in update to SP3 or SP4. I tried to make these updates, but once they are made my CPU will increase to 100%, and SQL Server will not start.

So, any ideas? Should I try to get these service packs work? If so, any idea what I am doing wrong?
Or is this a problem with my setup?

I have my SQL Server settings that are configured to use Windows and SQL Server authentication.
In CF when adding the database, I use:
    Database: noblesqlLocal
Server: 127.0.0.1 (I also tried leaving empty and type localhost)
    Port: 1433
    Username: his
    Password: thepasswordiset
I also tried leaving them empty...

Whenever I get the same error!

Please help I tried to get this to work for what seems like forever. Thank you!

Well, I never could understand what was wrong... I upgraded to MS SQL 2005 Express Edition and with a few calls to tech from my hosting support got it to work. So who knows what was wrong with 2000 but now I have at least something operational...

  • Toolkit and remote sql server DB

I have an application that creates a table and inserts the table entries (~ 15 fields of strings and numbers), it works properly when you speak to a local sql server express labview and the db toolkit.  I connect with a udl on windows7 64-bit file.  I am now trying to connect to a database on the network, I got the udl file to work and connect very well but my query failed (probably created the table) the error code has not been defined.  Anyone have any suggestions on debugging.  I guess that sql server and express to take the same thing, it could be a permissions or timeout?

If I had to guess, I suppose that the connection didn't correct permissions on the remote DB, although I expect that you would get a recognizable mistake with this. This should be relatively easy to find by logging into the remote DB with this connection using another program (for example, access or Management Studio) and performs the same operations.

Even if the error code appears as not defined, you can try to search online and see if other people fell on it. Be aware that some error codes are shared by different applications, so be sure that you look good results.

It would also be useful to know exactly where the error is generated, which should help you more to find the pattern.
