VC 2.5 and SQL 2005

Can someone tell me the white papers that shows me WHAT SQL 2005 is a database of approved.

We build a new VC... ranging from 2.0 to 2.5 and I want to make sure that SQL 2005 is a database supported.

Thanks in advance!

VMware has tested and certified Microsoft SQL Server 2005 SP1 to use with the VirtualCenter 2.0.1 and Server SQL Server 2005 SP2 (32 - and 64-bit) for use with VirtualCenter 2.0.2.

.. and Yes, it is supported for 2.5.  This KB is just when 2005 first became as supported platform

  • vCenter and SQL 2005 Express on the same physical machine

I'm new on the VMware environment and am a little concerned about my VMware infrastructure and design.  I have 3 boxes physical accommodation 15 virtual servers.  I have a 4th server that hosts the database SQL and vcenter.  I am wondering what are my chances of having vCenter and SQL 2005 express installed on the same box?  That suggest VMware as best practices concerning this configuration?  If this configuration is ok, what are my options to protect myself in case the box with vCenter and the SQL database dies?  Thank you

VMware sets a limitation to 5 guests and 50 wen invited you use SQL Express. I run it with 6 guests and 48 guests (incl. models) on the same machine as the server vcenter. That's not what I want to keep and we will change to a standard SQL 2005 on a separate server from SQL (which we had with SQL 2000 and before VI3).

But I didn't have one problem with this configuration, again.

With both on the same server may lead to a conflict: SQL 2005 requires IIS but vCenter uses ports. So I installed it but disabled.

I think also that separating the two tracks faster that have it all on the same box.

  • ESX 3.5 and SQL best practices

I searched for info on best practices when deploying SQL on the virtual computer. We already have a couple of lightweight SQL production servers running 2008 x 64 and SQL 2005. We are looking for migrating databases existing physical servers to a 2008 newly deployed x 64 SQL VM, I was able to find documents of Vmware and turned to the forum and information. This are not the giant databases - of things such as BES, EPolicy and other mundane but necessary databases. Even more to divide readers to separate newspapers, the sys and databases? Any advice would be appreciated.

  • 5.2 CSA and Local SQL 2005

After reviewing the http://cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/csa/csa52/install_guide/CSA52IG.pdf for the system requirements, I stumbled on the following.

    Hardware configurations:

1 single Pentium 4 processor (3 Ghz +) with 2 GB of RAM

2 dual processor Xeon (2.5 Ghz +) with 4 GB of RAM

Only 1 hardware configuration supports Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Workgroup Edition or Standard Edition with their limit of 4 GB RAM.

According to the above documentation, can it really be true that Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Workgroup or Standard ed. does not work with the hardware configuration 2?

Can someone shed some light on why this wouldn't work or check if it works? I had planned on using the hardware configuration 2 with SQL Server 2005, but now I'm unsure if it will work.

    Each configuration will work.

    (1) SQL 2005 Standard does not have the limitation of the RAM, he's going as high as the RAM of the OS.

    (2) limitation of the memory for the Express and the Working Group is that it will not use that much, not that it will not work if you have more (or less for that matter).

  • vCenter on vOrchestrator on SQL 2005 and SQL 2008?

I was reading the support for vCenter and vOrchestrator matrix and was surprised to see that vCenter is fully supported on SQL 2008 but vOrchestrator is only supported on SQL 2005. As we all migrate to SQL 2008, we want to install as many vSPhere on SQL 2008 as possible. Is - it possible/decision-making supported to install vSphere on SQL 2008 and then separately install vOrchestrator on SQL 2005? Installing vCenter it seems to me that if both components have been installed at the same time, but maybe it was because I was in a lab environment and went with the built-in SQL Express.

Any word on what vOrchestrator will support SQL 2008? I really don't like VMware may not have common requirements for all their products. I know that vOrchestorator was an acquisition, but still... come on people! Life is complicated enough.

vCenter and Orchestrator use their own databases, you can install vCenter on SQL 2008 and Orchestrator 2005 without problem.

I didn't know an answer to my previous question, which was:-my computer to stop asking me to update.  I try and it tells me that try to update sql 2005 failed.  error code 663.  This has happened for a long time.  I am a user of the computer only so don't understand not why I need SQL 2005.  Can someone give me a simple answer please.  I run windows XP media center edition version 2002 service pack 3

You don't need SQL 2005 if you know. You can simply uninstall it from Add and remove programs and uninstalling SQL windows update will not offer you the update and you will not receive an error message, but if you want SQL you have to do is to repair the installation of SQL and the error message will disappear!

  • SQL 2005 to SQL 2008 R2 update

    Hey everybody,

I have a MSD (13.0) running on a dedicated Windows 2003 server and has the database hosted on one of our corporate servers running SQL 2005. All the companies getting SQL servers migrate to 2008 R2 at the end of the summer. Has anyone done this type of migration with the MSDS database and what questions or unexpected came?

    Thank you

    Hello Steven

I'm assuming that you'll upgrade TMS to the latest version as well (13.2%).

Longer if you follow the procedure documentation and check all the prerequisites and requirement conditions everything should go smooth.

Please check this link, in particular page 16:

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/Telepresence/infrastructure/TMS/Install_Guide/Cisco_TMS_install_guide_13-2.PDF

Also, I highly recommend to install TMSPE that uses the database SQL instead of the OpenDS.

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/Telepresence/infrastructure/tmspe/Install_Guide/Cisco_TMSPE_Deployment_Guide_1-0.PDF

Please note that you must upgrade your VCS so at least 7.1.

    I hope this helps.

  • TMS and SQL 2008 R2

    Hi all

We plan to spend our SQL 2005 a 2008R2 server. In the Installation of TMS and Quick Start Guide (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/telepresence/infrastructure/tms/install_guide/Cisco_TMS_Install_Getting_Started_Guide_13-1.pdf , page 6), they say that all versions of SQL 2008 are supported, but we must be sure that this includes the SQL 2008R2. Are there restrictions or considerations?

    Thank you!

I seem to TMS doesn't run well with SQL 2008 R2 no problem

    Hello

Am looking for first upgrade our environment for vsphere 5... first step is to vcenter.  I've read a lot of threads on this topic... but each looks different... Some say to database backup and uninstall it all... others suggest upgrading the database to 2008 r2 first, etc.

VSphere 5 has been out for several months, this is a generally accepted approach for upgrading to vcenter 4.1 to 5 located on 2005 express?

    My configuration:
    -vcenter installed on 64-bit Windows 2008 R2

-The 32 bit SQL 2005 express database

-You are looking at using SQL 2008 R2 express as database
