  Just to clarify, the 601 error relates to your main battery of notebooks (not the RTC cell on the system board).

  If you are satisfied with the machine running on full power, there is no problem with that and you can just remove the battery.

  If you do not want to replace the battery at a certain time, you can order a new through HP parts store or (and), just google the full model number of your laptop dv7 series including the battery of the term.

  Hello, recently when passing on my laptop I got error 601 battery at startup.

  I have a laptop computer HDX16-1005EA and the operation of windows 7. Since the error my laptop turns off instantaniously after disconnecting power supply.

  I also used the HP battery check and it says that my 'main' battery has a fault, and I should have basically replaced.

  Also the battery charge not more than 93% more no matter how much time the laptop is in charge.

  Is it the battery or the battery that plugs into the laptop to be replaced?

  It's not the CMOS battery battery. There is a huge difference in price.

  Batteries for portable computers becomes defective after two years is relatively common. It all depends on how you have your power set up options and how you use your laptop.

  Do you have calibrated your battery?

  After the calibration of your battery if the symptoms remain the same, I would strolgly consider to replace the main battery of the laptop with a new one. Be sure and calibrate your new battery shortly after its initial charge.

  You must update the BIOS of your laptop if the version isn't F.32

  There has been several BIOS updates since the original. All you need is the current.

• HP 2000: 601 battery error Code

  If during the use of the laptop computer with its own power supply by battery, after about 5 minutes. The screen turns off and the laptop turns off by itself.

  When I connect to an external power source, a 601 error code appears and the laptop will start okay.

  I gather from what I have read the CMOS battery needs to be changed, if so.

  That's all just editable or a soldering iron required and where it is located.

  Uninstalled the program battery check downloaded at HP, then reinstalled HP Support Assistant freshly downloaded.

  Now using the new HP Support Assistant battery Checker, the OK/past test.

• 601 battery error message.

  Hi all

  I got a HP Pavilion DV6 - 1104ax Windows Vista 32 bit.

  Whenever I turn it on I get the error message at startup: HP Aler - 601 low main (internal) battery

  I checked the CMOS battery was 3 volts exactly. I replaced it with a new battery (CR2032) measure 3.2 volts.

  Restarted the computer, corrected the date and time of the bios and restarted again.

  The error message always appears at startup.

  I then removed the battery abd ran the computer on power. Everything seems OK and no error message.

  I ran the HP Battery Check and indicates a failure in the 'battery'

  This means that the battery is defective and needs to be replaced?

  Just an update, I replaced the battery with a new one and that corrects the problem. No more error not messaged.

  The 601 error is a problem with the main battery which I think is just old. Have you tried to remove the battery and leave the laptop with only the power adapter?

  I get the main (internal) 601 battery error on my sleekbook. Some other positions, I am confused if it's the internal CMOS battery or external battery user can load i.e. one that can be removed.

  I hope this is the correct distinction between the two batteries.

  Laptop shuts off in a few minutes if the charger is not plugged in and charge. And I get the battery when I turn it on.

  During the error if I press the Enter key to start as it says I get a fan error too. But if I just let it start on its own without pressing enter the fan error is not displayed.

  My main doubt is what battery do I need to replace - CMOS or primary ('outside' one)?

  It's actually the main battery that powers the machine. The report indicates the recommended charge cycles is 300 and you charged the battery over 700 times in 609 days. Well, it helps if you could just and ready for a replacement.

  You got it as a flashlight. Remove the old and put in new. I say to have the laptop powered is to ensure that no parameters are lost once you remove the battery (CMOS) internal. I did it myself and never had a problem.

  I understand, it depends on the reputation of the seller, I mean if it's the only way to get the battery try to confirm with the seller, IE if the 2-year warranty is really effective.

  I understand that you found the 601 battery error and you only had your laptop for six months. Did you check the power supply and run the battery check. You live in Saudi Arabia, and there are only three service centres. The nearest is 500 km away, and you do not want to move too far for a repair or send by mail for maintenance.

  Help! I have a laptop Pavilion DV6 which starts is no longer. There are alert notice of primal (internal) battery 601 battery that needs to be replaced. If you press ENTER to start nothing happens. I also tried the beginning upward after removing the battery 6 cells and using only the sector. No warning of battery but the result is the same - a screen blank and nothing happens. I also went into the bios which opens upward - he removes the hard drive like OK and in diagnosis comes up with the error 0601. The computer is no longer under warranty, but if I could at least getin therre I could back up my files.

  I don't understand why a bad battery could be stop start.

  Any suggestions please?

  3. No, but substitute or cell bios test is a cheap option just to be sure

  I'd be inclined to unplug the power plug & hold button power for 30 seconds, then plug the power back & try boot.
  visually check no USB ports or similar see the sign pins bent/short circuit, remove ram & try to start with a stick at once & each slot, remove the dvd - rom drive & try to start.
  If the problem persists, try to test/renewing the bios battery.

  I would also try a different power adapter, even if the means to buy a cheap as universal laptop power adapter will still work diagnoses at low cost. I try not readily available power adapter, but if you initially make the simplest tests first. universal power adapter for laptop can be had for about $13 & is a practical tool, so not a complete waste...
  Have also had this problem with power adapters before but also sometimes from mainboard to power circuit & same bad bios chip. Test everything & guess nothing that these diagnostic codes can sometimes be misleading.
