The Internet Explorer shortcut in the Quick Launch toolbar, and in the x 64 Vista Start menu will run the 32-bit version of Internet Explorer by default. Why run the 32-bit version if IE on the 64-bit version of Vista?

There are actually two shortcuts for Internet Explorer in the "Programs" menu Why two and what is the difference?

This is the title of each and they run exe:

Internet Explorer
"C:\Program Files (x 86) \Internet.

Internet Explorer (64-bit)
"C:\Program may Explorer\iexplore.exe.

One runs IE in the "Program Files (x 86)" folder, this is the 32-bit version. The second is the 64-bit version.

How can I make the Quick Launch shortcut to run the 64-bit version of Internet Explorer?

  1. Right click on the shortcut
  2. Click 'properties '.
  3. On the shortcut tab, replace the contents of the text box 'Target' with the target of the shortcut in the menu 'Programs' 'Internet Explorer (64-bit)'.
  4. Happy surfing using IE 64 bit

There are traps to running the 64-bit version of Internet Explorer?

In fact I know there. At the time where as I write this there are no 64-bit version of Flash Player. So, if you need to view a Web site that uses Flash, then you will need to use the 32 - bit IE version. at least for now. I'm sure that Adobe is going to release a 64 bit version of Flash Player at the end of January when Vista shipped to consumers. But then again, maybe not since Vista x 64 works 32-bit IE by default.

I would like to know a way you can tell for sure if you have the 32-bit version of Internet Explorer other running then it was in the x 86 folder.  I'll try and a better indicator of the research.  I can tell you that I'm possitive that there not a 64-bit version of Flash.  I know that the Flash add-on works with the 32-bit version of Internet Explorer, which is included on 64 bit systems.  Microsoft includes the 32-bit version of Internet Explorer on 64-bit for compatibility purposes systems.  It will take me a bit because I have to go to work soon, but I'll try and find a more surefire way to let you know that you actually run the 32-bit version of Internet Explorer.  Thank you for your patience.  Maybe someone else will read this thread who knows a sure fire way to know which version you have opened and will share this info with us two!

  • Download Adobe Flash Player on a Vista with a 64-bit browser

I went to a website to download information.  However, I was told that I need to have Flash Player 8.  I tried to download Flash Player 8, but I get a message that Adobe requires a 32-bit browser, and mine is a 64-bit browser.  Is there a way to circumvent this requirement or to switch to a 32-bit browser when I need access to this particular Web site?

    Hi getbak

Unfortunately, Adobe has released not yet a 64-bit version of their Flash Player. Any Web site that contains Adobe Flash content unusable with a 64-bit browser.

The 64-bit version of Vista includes a 32-bit version of the Internet Explorer browser. You might be able to use to access this Web site.

See the following Web site for more information on how to access the 32-bit browser.

  • 64-bit browser too good? Y at - there no possibility of returning to a 32-bit browser?

We recently bought a new Dell laptop. It is running MS Vista with a 64-bit version of Internet Explorer. Our problem: is - this too good? It seems that every photo or video, we try to watch online is not available, because all software is compatible with a 32-bit browser. Can we change our 64-bit to 32-bit browser or can we download a 32-bit browser for Vista or should we expect everyone else to catch up? Any help would be appreciated.

    MTHobbs,

Thanks for posting your question in the Forum of answers. The 32-bit, Internet Explorer must be the browser by default by default, unless you specifically open the "Internet Explorer (64-bit)". Just to make sure to open it from the executable. Please follow the steps bellow to open Internet Explorer 32-bit.

    1. click on 'start '.
    2. click on "computer".
    3. open "C:" (C = system drive)
    4. open "Program Files (x 86)".
    5. open "Internet Explorer."
    6. open "iexplore.exe".
    The path is: "C:\Program Files (x 86) \Internet.

Try to open the browser in this way and see if you still have problems. If you're still having problems, it could be that you are missing the Add-ons.

    Thank you.

  • 32-bit vs 64-bit browser

My version of 32-bit iexplorer opens twice when I click on it and does not respond when I try to browse.  The same problem doesn't produce, 64-bit, however I want to run the new flash player that runs on the 32-bit browser.  Any idea what is the problem?  I'm running on windows Vista system.  The 32-bit has been installed in the typical products when I bought the laptop.

The browser explore 32 bit simultaneously opens 2 sites and all controls are frozen when they open together.  I must uninstall the 32-bit and reinstall again.
