630 HP: Breaking imminent hard drive

Messages failed hard drive Windows 7 biennial at regular intervals. Checkdisk and defrag show no problem.

Restart now prompst to use the SMART drive diagnostic, but does not immediately and offers code: 64B7HS-MFKTIG-60BB03

QUESTION: what chance is there thgis is a false positive?

QUESTION: what exactly does this sequence of hexadecimal numbers mean?

QUESTION: given that the HP diagnostic fails, but everyone except the Windows disk failure warning shows no problem, what can I do to prove the reliability of the message? I do not throw a good drive hard if false positives "are one thing.

The chances are zero, that this is a false positive. CHKDSK and defrag would find only one type of error: bad sectors. Well, there are other ways that a hard drive may fail. The code thing is just an identifier for the message to honor him. It has no deeper meaning other than to tag the message with a unique identifier. You can use a program like HD Tune or Acronis drive monitor to dig inside and fact read the SMART error code and it will tell you just why the hard drive failed and the specifications are leech. But the hard drive needs to be replaced. Make sure you do drives recovery or backup Windows with the image of the system as soon as POSSIBLE while you still can if you still can.

Hello! I wonder if someone can help me.

Start the computer, the other day the S.M.A.R.T diagnostic program came suddenly on saying a "hard drive failure may be imminent," when I open the Intel Matrix Storage console, it says that the hard drive in port 0 has had a S.M.A.R.T event recorded against him but that of port. 2 is 'normal '.

Port 0 is the volume of the operating system on it and if so what would be the best way to back up the disk and what someone knows how to change the hard drive and how much approximately would this cost?

    Thanks for any help inadvance.
    Paul.

    Hello!

In my opinion, you should back up all the data as quickly as possible. In the worst case you could HARD drive might completely die and then you are not able to save the data on it.

After that you should swap the HARD drive. It s depending on the model of HARD drive you buy how much it will cost but drives hard are not so dear to our days. I think that it will be possible to get one for 50 Euros.

    Good bye

  • HP Pavilion 6653w "imminent hard drive failure! "Backup and replace. Questions.

Hello, I have a HP Pavilion 6653w with Windows 7 Home Premium desktop computer.   It is 4 to 6 years old.  Recently, when I start it, I get a message "imminent hard disk failure!  Please save and replace as soon as possible."  I've never had to replace a hard drive before, so I have some questions:

1 should. what type of disc do I replace - be of the same type that I have now?  (Hitachi, 1 TB).   Is there a list somewhere that shows which drives are not suitable for my computer?

2 - is a mechanically inclined person (my husband) could do at home, or that it does not require a professional?  My husband has replaced a front memory card, we just request if it is similar to the one in trouble?

    Thank you!

This link will take you to a document on the withdrawal and the replacement of a hard drive on a HP or Compaq desktop computer.  If it is not identical to your case, it will be a little similar.  The point is, that it is not terribly difficult; This is something you might be able to tackle yourself, or with a friend who has some experience with computers.

    I hope this helps.

  • HP Pavilion g7-2054sa Notebook: imminent hard drive failure - code GLQ3J0-65V838-MFPX0J-60C403

I have the black screen at startup saying hard disk failure is imminent. Controls of the f2 said

    Drive hard SMART test failed

    ID GLQ3J0-65V838-MFPX0J-60C403 failure

    Product ID B1P45EA #AEU

What it means? I also get messages on Windows 7 hard disk failure is imminent. What is in fact a hard drive failure?

The problems started after system restore to a point previous (5 days ago) after downloading some updates of the site Web HP that have been identified as relevant, but caused freezes, which is why the restoration to the previous point. Still trying to get an idea of the problem areas. Most things work very well, but Windows Media Player does not properly is the most obvious fault so far. More I bought a new external hard drive to perform the emergency backup, but it is not recognized when I plug. It is however grateful already used very happy memory sticks.

I'm likely to have a real failure, or is a false reading because things did not settle down properly after the system restore?

I am not technically very advanced - perhaps at the limit of my understanding so simple popular suggestions/instructions.

Thanks for all those who have followed this demand. Problem solved - I took it to a local repair shop in the end. While I could probably physically replace the drive myself quite easily, I wanted the confidence of an expert to provide the correct replacement and manages the much larger task to transfer everything at the latest so that I can resume normal with all that where it should be.

  • Imminent hard drive failure

    Hi all

I get this error disk hard Imminent failure.
When I check the disc via the BIOS, I get this code: 90FB7V-1R27AK-MFKSWK - 60A 803

I have just need to know if the hard drive can be saved by - for example - a (formatting) or if the hard disk is beyond all hope.

Unfortunately, HP does not have to answer questions like that when your system is no longer under warranty.

Can anyone on this forum help?

    Hello

The error message refers to the failure of the hard disk where you will not be able to access the data from it and the only option is to replace the drive.

  • I have a Compaq Persario CQ50 - 109CA which is indicating "imminent hard drive failure.

I have an app Compaq Persario CQ50 - 109CA, running on Windows Vista, which is indicating "Hard drive failure" imminent

    I backed everything up.

I restarted the computer and started running the Hard Drive Self Test in the BIOS.  The quick test passed but 4 minutes in the next test, the computer will stop.  This has happened 4 times now.

I can restart normally, and the computer seems to work very well.

This means that the hard drive requires replacement indeed?

The sectors more means worse condition. My classmate has 134 of them and can not start at all. Buy a new hard drive.

Reallocated sectors count means that these areas cannot be used and the data is transferred to another area of the hard drive. This means a physical damage on the hard disk trays. The hard drive may be working again, but may also fail at any time completely...

  • HP Elite 7300: imminent hard drive failure

    Hello

I have a desktop hp elite 7300 with windows 7

I get the rather alarming message that my hard drive is about to fail.

So I bought a new SSD.

How can I move windows 7 to the new drive?

    Kind regards

    Scarab

To have a upgrade kit, it is exactly what you need to buy. The second SSD purchase I made for one of my own systems was a upgrade kit in the future in mind. Once you have the kit that comes with the cable and the software, you are ready for the future updates for SSDS on other systems. Usually a major supplier of SSD has free cloning software available for download. It's just being customer friendly. Samsung and Corsair are like that.

Paragon software and others sell SSDS cloning of the software applications that will do exactly what you need.  There are free applications that clones since the current for the SSD hard drive.

You can pick up the usb converter cable to SATA to an online retailer or a local store for a price relatively low.

  • My HP pavilion frozen just with "no hard drive found" messages and "imminent hard drive failure.

I have an old 3 yr HP pavilion a6750f, AMD Phenom X4quad-core processor, Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.  He

just crashed, and the system recovery discs are not through.

    What are my next steps?

I have Norton360 online backup protection.

    Hello:

It is unlikely that you will be able to recover all the data, but you want to play $20 on it, you can buy a SATA hard disc to USB Office like this case and give it a try.

Even for a non-techie, replacing a hard drive is quite simple.  Here is the link to the service manual.  See page 17 for procedures to remove and replace the hard drive.

Then of course, you must read the procedures for opening the case so.

If you feel confident that you can complete these tasks, then you are techie enough.

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c00841410.PDF

Looking at the specs for your PC, you will need to buy a hard drive SATA II of 750Go. You can go as high as 1 TB, but do not exceed this size.

  • (Redirected) Imminent HARD drive failure

    Hello

    I have a Dell R510 with an INTEGRATED CONTROLLER of RAID PERC H700 inside. It has 4 M27R0 X 600 GB, SAS 6GBPS, 3.5 inch disks and 2 X 300 GB.

2 of my 600GO records now have amber lights on them which means that the discs are potentially will fail soon in my opinion. So I want to replace them and my question was, what I need to get the exact model of 600 GB SAS or any disk, with the same specification will work?

    Thank you very much

  • Envy 14 - hard drive failure imminent

I have an Envy 14-1110NR laptop and receive a message of imminent hard drive failure, whenever I start.  After you run the HP diagnostics, checking the hard drive breaks down so I think I need to replace it.

The hard drive is a Samsung HM640JJ which is obsolete.  Anyone know what I need to do...?

    Thank you very much...

    Hello Stephen,

In this case, may be your best option to create an Image of your existing installation system and store it on a HARD drive external - that can then be loaded on the new drive and your machine will be in the exact same condition as it was when the image was created.

There is a good guide on creating it on the following link - start to the subtopic 'An Option'.

    http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/8956-system-image-create-Windows-8-a.html

At the end of the process, be sure to create the 'system repair disc'.

When the drive has been replaced, you can then boot from the repair disk and reload this Image to the new drive - the procedure is detailed in the guide on the following link.

  • HP G62-b23SA - hard drive failure imminent - SMART error (301)

My HP G62-b23SA signals an imminent hard drive failure. Drive hard test reports a SMART error (301).  You should back up the system and contact the HP support to inquire if the hard drive needs to be replaced or just needs to be repaired. I have supported from the system, it had to be replaced?

    Hello

The Smart 301 error would indicate that your hard drive is defective and must be replaced.

If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disc replaced.  You can check the status of your warranty here.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

If you are out of warranty and would like a guide to replacing the hard drive yourself, let me know - include size (IE 500 Gb) of your current HARD drive.

    Kind regards

  • Pavilion g: new hard drive

Hello. I ', m get the imminent hard drive failure message and have run smart diagnostics that breaks down the hard drive. I tried the HP recovery discs and you have saved the data. I intend to put a new drive hard in, using the recovery disks and restore the data. The failed hard disk is 750 GB WD BPVT - 60 HXZ T1, rotational speed 5400 7500. I intend to replace with a WD 7500 BPVX, spindle speed 5 400 750 GB. What this will be compatible or should I look for exactly the same number of product?

    Thak you.

Thank you. I'll close the debate and start another query about the RAM.

  • P7-1245: can I install ubuntu and should I erase my entire hard drive

Hey guys I want to install ubuntu on my HP P7-1254 I can do and also do I completely erase my hard drive and all partitions, including the (SYSTEM) with DBAN or which would break my hard drive thanks

Break anything using a boot disk to format and erase your hard drive.  It's just the hard disk as if it came from the factory with no OS on it.

As a suggestion, make a disk image of your drive hard if you want to return to Windows, if you don't like Ubundu to an external hard drive.  It gives an accurate picture of what you did not understand the OS, programs and data.  Use Macrium Reflect Freeware.  Only, don't forget to create the rescue disk to restore.

  • Pavilion g6-1118TX: reported hard drive failure

    Hello people of the community.

Recently, I get a message indicating an imminent hard drive failure during startup. I just wanted to know how I can solve the problem and how to buy a hard drive and the same difficulty. The issue seems to affect the cranking up the speed of the laptop. I would be grateful if you can give an approximate value of your new hard drive and the different options available (eg.1TB, 750GB etc.) for PAVILION g6-1118TX model number. Also suggest would be interesting to buy a new hard drive and move or search for improving the system of newer models.

Waiting for your reply at the earliest.

    Hi @ra1791!

I'm sorry to say this, but such errors are indicating that the drive is about to fail, then the best option in this case will be to replace it with another unit. If the product is still under warranty, you can contact support, but in case you have no guarantee and you would like a guide to replacing the hard drive you can you take a look at the manual page, user 46:

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c02834221

    Compatible spare disks are also.

I hope this helps and good luck!
