I have a Compaq Persario CQ50 - 109CA which is indicating "imminent hard drive failure.
I have an app Compaq Persario CQ50 - 109CA, running on Windows Vista, which is indicating "Hard drive failure" imminent
I backed everything up.
I restarted the computer and started running the Hard Drive Self Test in the BIOS. The quick test passed but 4 minutes in the next test, the computer will stop. This has happened 4 times now.
I can restart normally, and the computer seems to work very well.
This means that the hard drive requires replacement indeed?
The sectors more means worse condition. My classmate has 134 of them and can not start at all. Buy a new hard drive.
Reallocated sectors count means that these areas cannot be used and the data is transferred to another area of the hard drive. This means a physical damage on the hard disk trays. The hard drive may be working again, but may also fail at any time completely...

I have a HP Pavilion dv7 and my agreement now bad hard drive to the Geek squad. My problem is that I'm not able to find my recovery disc and HP has no more of them. Do you know where I could buy the recovery disk?
The official win7 ISO images can be downloaded here;
http://www.w7forums.com/official-Windows-7-SP1-ISO-image-downloads-t12325.html
You download the version installed on your HP, burn a dvd using ISO, software, the burning at the slowest speed, on quality discs, then install it using the Win Key on the label on your PC.
You will then need to install specific drivers of HP, not of the preinstalled HP software will be at your disposal

I reinstalled Adobe CS6 and it does not accept my serial number now, I have no idea why. I have not installed anywhere else? Don't know what the problem is.
It was a purchase online and downloaded directly from Adobe and it shows my series on their website with the download?

PC HP Compaq 8200 Elite CMT: Replacement of the SSD HARD drive and Recovery Options
I have a PC HP Compaq 8200 Elite CMT I went recently to drive HARD original for one SSD of 850 Evo from Samsung using Samsungs cloning/copying software. Everything went well and the PC is in use today. I do not see the partition D: Recovery on this machine more well, so I think this has not copied or was lost. I still have the disk that was replaced.
I was wondering if there is a way to replace HARD drive like this with an SSD and everything by keeping the system recovery feature that was on the HARD disk, and if a set of system recovery disks of before installing SSD would continue to operate, or if I need to create new ones, and if I CAN create new ones.
I did what you want to do (for example, to replace a disk with a DDI) and was able to retain the function of HP recovery - but it's because of two important facts.
First of all, I used a DDI with the same capacity as the original HARD disk. This is important because if you use a smaller SDS, the HP recovery feature will no more work as a reset begins with reformatting the drive and recreate the original scores - which will fail if the disc is too small.
Second, I use Macrium Reflect product to 'clone' the HDD to the DDI, which means, he made an exact copy of the partitions on disk on the SDS. So, when I swapped drives, the PC restarted without any problem.
People have posted here on the use of the software from Samsung, and they seem to have problems restarting after use and (apparently) with successful copy from disk HARD original in the new SDS.

I want to upgrade XP to 7. My machine got a C: and an onboard hard drive D:. (as well as a lot of CPU power) If I move all critical files on my D: drive, if they are not disturbed during installation of Windows 7 or what must I drag in a remote entity prior to completing the upgrade?
Also, I have to run 32 bit on my unit which is an installation option?
Thank you
original title: Windows 7 upgrade Question
Hello
I suggest you to move all of the critical files the D drive that won't cause any disruption during installation of Windows 7, so the installation would take on the C: drive

Hard drive failure immanent - have spare hard drive to install, but you need to know how
Reading "HDD error" message says the hard drive is about to give up and I need to save - great - I have a spare hard drive that I can install - now the question is how can I transfer my copy of vista64 from a hard disk on my machine to another drive on the same machine.
Yes, I saved all the documents vital to an external hard drive.Hard drive manufacturers normally provide their software websites of cloning to what you want to do...
And there are 3rd Party Software to do you buy:
http://www.Acronis.com.au/homecomputing/products/TrueImage/
Or try this:
How to get Vista recovery Media.
There is no Vista free download legal available.
Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.
Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
What I have to buy a new version of windows, because my hard drive crashed?
My computer hard drive crashed and had to be replaced. After replaceing I, of course, lost my program of windows 7, it has been installed at the factory. I don't have a DVD. Do I have to buy a new version of windows 7 to 8 or is there a place to reload windows?
You can opt for a recovery disc from the manufacturer that will put your system to the way it was when it is new, or you can download the version of Windows 7 which shows on the COA sticker and use the code too...
Make sure that the COA key code is readable before you download the ISO, because without it, the ISO has no value. You should also keep a note of the key code in a safe place.
Select the version on your COA sticker...
You will need to convert the download on a bootable DVD...
Also note that the second method leave you that to install all the updates of Windows, drivers for devices etc.
You must do this installation, utilities and antivirus programs
Which of the 2 hard drives do I need to do data recovery on my Sony PCG-8Z1L laptop
The Sony I have laptop comes with two hard drives RAID. Hard drives has failed and I have to pay for data recovery, but they charge $300 per car. Which two players would have my photos and documents installed on so I could get that one back?
Hi RC2121,
If you said that the Unit came with a RAID set (raid 0 interleaves), there are two disks. You can read more about it here. RAID configuration 0 save files on the two pilots, which means that on one half and the other half on the 2nd disk. Therefore, the answer is two discs.
'HP Compaq dc7900 small form Factor PC' - 4 TB HARD drive
The "HP Compaq dc7900 Small Form Factor PC' sees a 4 TB HARD drive?
I plan to buy a bigger hard drive for my desktop and I would like to know if the "HP Compaq dc7900 Small Form Factor PC" can take a size of 4 TB HDD.
Maybe you can, but I can't say for sure.
You will be able to format the disk to the GPT so that windows to 'see' a large partition.
Read this white paper for more information - page 4 in particular.
Computer that crashed; System Restore which threaten to wipe hard drive
Hi all
Today my laptop crashed. So I disconnected and tried to turn it off completely. He got to "shutting down" but does not move, so I had to leave the exhausted battery. Then I rebooted from recovery, is DVD went in safe mode and try to run the system restore. I now have a message saying:
Packard Bell Recovery DVD!
WARNING
ALL THE DATA ON YOUR HARD DRIVE WILL BE ERASED
[OK]
There is no Cancel button or anything, just an OK button. They can't be serious, can they? (And I've read since that run the system on a disk restore is a bad idea). It seems I have to press OK or let the battery die again, either disconnect the battery. What should I do?
Anon
First disconnect the battery. Now, to get into the mode safe on the hard drive of your computer. start to boot and then press F8, and then select Safe mode. Then you can try restoring the system from there. vader95 Windows 95-7 office 97 - 2010 Ubuntu 9.10 - 10.10
Hard drive failure: have a few questions!
Some info about my computer:- Toshiba Satellite laptop P755
- There was more than one year
- Windows 7 Home Edition Premium came with the laptop.
HelloIn the last few days I received an error saying that my hard drive can fail at any time, and for this reason, I have to back up my files. I run that a full backup as Windows Error Message had recommended that I do, but instead I just backed up my important files on a USB key. Finally, I know that my hard drive will fail, and at this point I am waiting. I am looking to buy a new HDD replacement , but I have a few questions that NEED to know before you proceed with the replacement of my current hard drive. Since I'm getting a new hard drive, should I buy a new key to activate Windows 7? Under my laptop, I have a Windows 7 Home Premium product key and my friend said that I will be able to borrow his Windows 7 Home Premium CD to install the operating system on my new hard drive. So do I still need to buy a new copy of Windows 7? I looked around forums and some people responded by saying that I won't need to buy a new copy of Windows 7 and when I install Windows on the new drive, it will be recognized that I had a genuine Windows 7 operating system. I had also heard tell that if I turned off my key using CMD, then I could re - use my key to install Windows. That's really all that I have questions, and I hope that this gets answered. Thank you.I also ran a scan through my hard drive and here are the results.
Hello
When the new drive arrives and it is installed, you shouldn't have any problems activating you replace just the hard drive and not the motherboard. The motherboard is what is important in the main OEM installations. If you have a COA sticker at the bottom of the laptop, or elsewhere, it will be what you use to activate Windows.
If you have however poorly (you shouldn't), don't panic, just follow the phone activation method and you will be straightened out:
1. start > Search > in the search box, type slui.exe 4
2. press the key "enter".
3. Select your country in the list
4. choose the phone Activation
5. stay on the phone and wait for an operator to help you, do not press the buttons, etc. Once you get an operator, explain your activation trouble and you should be set.Kind regards
Patrick
