64-bit Vista can't find driver Laserjet 3390 network.

I posted the following in the wrong section, so I posted a retraction here and am reposting in the Networking section. = I have a Laserjet 3390 all in one printer. It is connected to my WinXP Pro PC via USB and works fine as a printer. I do not use the scanner since I have a Canonon scanner that I use. I bought a laptop Dell Studio 1537 comes with Vista Home Premium 64-bit installed. I have networked laptop for PC Windows XP via ethernet cables and a Belkin router. I can transfer files between two PC with no problems. Now, I'm trying to print on the 3390 laptop. When you use the Vista laptop, I can see the 3390 on the network. But when I try to connect to it, a window pops up saying: * the server for the printer "HP LaserJet 3390 Series PCL6" does not have the printer driver installed. If you want to find the right driver, click OK. Otherwise, click Cancel and contact your network administrator or the OEM for the printer correct driver.* * so I chose Vista 64 bit on HP's site and downloaded the Universal Print Driver HPUPD47PCL664.exe. Unzipped this file in a folder on the Vista laptop. Then connected the printer to 3390 again of the Vista laptop that I have done before and when the pop-up occurred, I scoured the folder that contains the unzipped driver of the UPD. I see several .inf files which is what the installer but when I click on OK, a pop up says: * Windows cannot locate a suitable printer driver. To help locate and install a suitable driver, contact your administrator. Any ideas?

Found a workaround.  Install the printer as a local printer using a USB cable on my Vista laptop first.  IOW, the same 3390 driver who would not install by my first post, installed OK as a local USB connected printer.  Then he forced network and now it prints on the printer connected to my Windows XP desktop PC.

Got my inkjet HP D5360 working too using the same procedure.

Have you looked into disk management to see if it is connected, but not given a drive letter?

    1. Open Computer Management by clicking on the button start , clicking Control Panel, clicking system and Maintenance, click Administrative Tools and then double-click computer management. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    2. In the Navigation pane, under storage, click Disk Management.

Having lost my recovery disc, I would be grateful if I am headed on how to get this driver.

    Cheers.

I think you are talking about drivers Win XP. Is this good?

I found this FAQ from Toshiba:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB83023N0000R01.htm

There, you can find this statement:
+ After the installation of Windows XP, there might be a yellow exclamation by a "PCI memory controller" or "* Mass Storage Controller *" in the Device Manager.

    _Solution: _
+ This hardware will only supported by Windows Vista. +
+ That is why there is no Windows XP drivers. +

    Hope I could help.

    Good bye

  • Transfer of 64-bit Vista to new hard drive

My HD crashed and does not start.  I bought a new HD, but can not find the drivers to start it.  Vista came preloaded on the original disc so I have a HD docking station to try to transfer all files including vista to the new drive.  Any suggestions would be helpful.

You can not just to transfer the system from one disk to another.  It must be installed per disk (or a partition of recovery if you have one).  If it came pre-installed, contact the manufacturer for a set of recovery disc (for a small fee) and see if you have a recovery partition and how to access and then use them to reinstall the system.  You will need to manually install the drivers for the drive during the installation (it should ask to insert a record with them on it and you should be able to obtain from the manufacturer of disk hard - if not, return the drive and get one where drivers are available).  You will then need to transfer your data - but that's all.  You will need to re - install all your programs, re - install all Windows updates and service packs, reconfigire your network and other parameters of software...  These things cannot be transferred.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Windows 64-bit Vista and Western Digital drives

I have two external drives from WD. One being the WD2500 and the other being the WD2500B007.
I just bought this new HP with Windows Vista 64-bit machine. Readers will show up, but when they do, they don't show any of the data that I have on them. Everything they say is that they are the two 6 GB. That is the amount of space, they show that I've left on both drives. It's really weird. I perform virus checks, and no viruses are found. Is there a newer driver for these readers? BTW, I have an old WD firewire external drive, and it works fine.
Please let me know if there's something escapes me! I use two drives for the same backup. I have a portable drive 500 GB that I have with all my data on it, so if I have to reformat the two 250 GB, I. But I didn't reformat the disks if they recognize only 6 GB each.
Western Digital technical support told me that they won't support the readers for Vista 64-bit.  Can someone enlighten us and help out?

    Thank you!
    Todd.

You can also try to update your readers to your manufacturers Web site drive controller... but who are internal discs... most of them is provided with the chipset drivers...

You can try to run the WD on their website... to scan your drive for errors without losing data. also try plugging your drives with USB support. Most Microsoft Valuable Professional

  • Windows 7 can't find driver canoscan

    Hello

I've just upgraded to a new machine running windows 7 Professional 64-bit. My scanner is canoscan FB1210U and when it grows poorly run up with driver not found. I have the original disc supplied with the scanner and it won't load the driver is a 32-bit you got a 64-bit version, can I run windows in 32-bit mode to load the driver and use the scanner?

VueScan is the only way that Canoscans beginning will always work with 64 - bit. I've been using Vuescan since the installation of 64-bit Vista in November 2006 and recommended several hundred times.

    Hello:

You need this driver.  If the driver will automatically install the driver for serial port, and then manually install the device by navigating to the folder of the driver that was created when you ran the file.

This file will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp68428.  Make sure that the include subfolders is selected and the driver should install.  Then restart.
