Re: Satellite L650 stuck Startup Repair mode

Hello

I was asked to look at the Satellite L650 laptop for a friend because they could not get going.
Not sure they did before me do yesterday, as far as I know, it's that they couldn't turn it on. I wanted to get into Safe Mode, but it went to the Startup Repair Mode and is stuck in this at all times.

It is currently running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

Have you tried from the DVD player, but it is up to the use of the hard drive, even tried running in my network, but without a bit of luck.

It does not go to the repair step because it gives me the opportunity to enter a password.

Someone at - it ideas how I can work around this problem, you can.

HAL

Hello

I think you have only two options here:
(1) you are going to use HARD drive recovery options
(2) or you can start the recovery using the recovery disk

For HARD drive recovery:

Recovery disk:
A friend created one in the past?
Isn't it? Well, the new disc can be ordered here:

Have you tried starting in safe mode using the F8 key?

Some new notebook series is equipped with HARD drive recovery. IF you can try to press the F8 key immediately after you have switched on the laptop, then choose fix my computer and try the laptop recovery

  • Satellite L350-262 - Startup Repair screen displays

    Can anyone help?

I had a L350-262 only 2 days. Already, I've had the Startup Repair screen appears showing there is a problem and Windows will not work. When the system try to automatically repair it says that Windows cannot automatically repair.

I have watched the tests diagnostic and repair details and the cause of found root shows that Startup Repair tried several times but still cannot determine the cause of the problem. Last night, I'm sure it says registry is corrupt, but I don't see something like that today? When I go to the advanced options for system recovery and support, I select UK as my keyboard entry method. He said then I must connect to access the system recovery options, and if I have problems logging in to contact the administrator of the computer. I can't seem to login screen if this proves difficult.

If anyone has had similar problems and if so how did you get the problem solved?

    Hello

Your ad is somehow a bit confusing and not detailed. You want to say that this startup screen suddenly appears and you didn't change anything on the hardware or software?

What happens if you try to start in safe mode? Is this possible?

To be honest right now I think that it s time to reinstall Windows if Windows peut t solve the problem itself.

    Hello

Because the computer is located in a no start situation and you don't have the installation disc, it is best to contact the manufacturer for assistance.

    Hi MARSHAFAYE,

Remember to make changes before this problem?

Do you have an error message when you start normally?

Method 1: Follow the steps described in the section below and then call Startup Repair

Windows Vista or Windows 7 unbootable and the Startup Repair tool does not resolve the problem

  • Satellite A660-155 freezes and needs of startup repair or does not start

Hello, in the middle of the month of August, I bought a satellite a660-155, PSAW0E-00U00DEN S/N 5A214647K.
It is registered under warranty until the Aug2011.
After less than a week, it refused to start.
I rang support and they recommended that I use the recovery discs to restore to factory condition. I did and spent the next 3 nights reload software and my backup disk data.

Since then he refuses sometimes to start the hard drive with a relative error that it cannot rfind and then ask which drive to boot from. If I select the hard drive, it starts later. Sometimes when running he crashes and then restarts.

Last night, after that it had not been used for a few days, I woke up he "sleep" mode. I logged on okay, but then the blue logo 'circly' comes on, spinning away happily, and nothing else (just for logging on the text). After 30 minutes, I pressed the power button to turn off because the cell phone was totally insensitive.
On commissioning, I got a white screen for 30 minutes, then the Startup Repair option.
I launched it and check start lasted almost an hour and an hour, then he said, trying to repair. After a few hours, I left and went to bed. This morning, he showed the guest of logon and connected properly, as if nothing had ever happened.

I lost confidence in Toshiba laptops, (I am responsible for computer SCIENCE) and I've never seen this problem before on a so-called quality machine. I only ise it fot simple e-mail/internet/word documents.

All I can conclude is that there is little material defective (hard drive) that stops responding intermittently.

I sent support at 07:00 this morning, but have not had a response.

Can you help me? This machine needs ideally replace or repair collection, back in working condition 100% reliable. Could someone please contact me to see where I go from here?
Under the law of consumption, you have a duty to rectify my sad situation, that the flaw exists again.

    Thank you

    Thanks for the info!
Seems to replace the HARD drive would solve!

  • Satellite C650-17Z: (new!) startup repair problem

A few weeks ago, I used the Toshiba restore disk to fix my laptop to its original state. However, I have now faced a similar problem. I have shut down prematurely on startup 'Starting Windows' screen, which then caused the Startup Repair to launch when I rebooted my laptop a few hours later.

What could be the results if the startup repair does not fix anything, since there is no set system restore points.

    Hello

Wait a second time: your ad is a bit confusing

This means every time on starting Windows screen, the computer stops and the next time you get message startup repair or what exactly?

Hmm, what other programs and drivers that you installed after recover installation?

You can start Windows in safe mode?

  • Satellite L650 - extremely slow at startup, then "not responding" message

I bought my Toshiba Satellite L650/017 laptop about 3 weeks ago and it was working well.

This week, I plugged a cable to work on my laptop and double clicked on the icon of Internet Explorer to see if I had access to him but found it is not the case then disconnected the cable and turned off the laptop computer on the internal internet.

The next day, I found that the laptop could not start after restarting it a couple of times so I ran on safe mode and did a virus check which proved to be negative.

The next day, start seemed a bit faster and I could access some of my Word documents stored on the hard drive.

Today, problems with the start seemed even worse and it took about 10-15 minutes to access the WINDOWS page - mainly get a gray screen with cursor work dark.

When she has finally reached the office page after trying to open any application after a few minutes, a message "not responding".

How can I fix? What is initially to run so slowly?
He doesn't has only few Word documents stored there on the hard disk. I hope someone can help me with this...

    Hey Buddy,

To be honest in these cases where the error just sometimes, it s not clear what part is defective or if it s just a software problem. In addition you didn t post information on your Windows installation, which makes more complicated history.

But if I understand you correctly, you can boot into safe mode without problems, right? Well, that would mean he s a driver or software issue because in safe mode no drivers will be loaded (just the standard Windows drivers).

If you run the pre-installed Windows version, you should try to reinstall Windows from the HARD drive recovery function. You know about it?
If this is not the case, see your user manual. A lot of information, you can find on this nice feature. :)

    Thanks in advance

Well I think that if you are not able to go into the advanced boot menu (F8) and so if you can start t HARD drive recovery works you have the Toshiba recovery disc.

As I see you don t have it and if you order a disk Toshiba directly:
    https://backupmedia.Toshiba.EU/landing.aspx

I know it's strange, but I think that in this case, you can t anything.

  • Stuck in "Startup Repair" for more than 24 hours. How to get back to normal?

Accidentally disconnected my external hard drive (my passport western digital), without disconnecting properly.  After that I connected again, with the power still on it, it asked me password of my external hard drive.  Once I entered the password as the frozen screen.  I manually turned off the laptop (sony vaio, nearly 2 years, vista pre-installed), then power.   He asks me to choose the startup repair or start normally.  I chose startup repair, need me a green-bluish screen with a blue loading bar.  Constantly load bar (move to the right on several occasions).  I let this one day and a half!  Nothing.  Off by pressing the power button.  Also, I unplugged the external hard drive thinking that was the cause of the problem.  No devices are connected to the laptop now. Power turned under.  Yet once, a black screen with text asking me to choose at startup repair or start normally.  This time I try to boot normally.  The screen is white and black for a few minutes, then an arrow cursor appears for a couple minutes, and then he brings me right to the Startup Repair choose or start normally.

I also need to say that any action is veeeeeeeery slow.  It takes minutes just to get from one screen to the other.

I actually pulled that momentarily to a screen with a gray window that reads "system recovery options choose a tool" with the following choices: «Startup Repair, System Restore, restore full pc windows, command prompt, windows memory diagnostic tool»  That return me to normal or the other.  Turned power off and then on again and I tried pressing F8 at startup upward.  It gives a long list of options of safe mode, etc.  I am at a loss.

Every action I take, I find myself back to choose the Startup Repair tool or start normally.  Nothing works.  There is no way, that everything is just gone!  I didn't disconnect an external hard drive accidentally!

Please help if possible.  Tomorrow will be the day 3 of this madness maddening, ridiculous.

Well, it's a week or so later, here is what happened: the hard drive was dead along... Well well... According to the pc repair shop I ended up taking to.  That is why no troubleshooting worked.

So THANKS to those who have tried to help me, but it was ultimately useless in the end.

Computers are too sensitive if you ask me.  Certainly did not get my money's worth out of it.

  • Computer stuck on 'test mode' and is having problems of delay serious is not allowing me to repair my registry or even access.

I have Windows vista home edition 32 bit and all of a sudden its stuck on 'test mode' and it only allows me to access my regristry editor or anything to do with regristry. If I am near him, it simply restarts the computer. This whole test mode is seriously lagging my computer, the CPU is really bad spiking constantly. Is there anyway that I can fix this? When it starts, I have to manually perform a new task to even run windows Explorer. as the bar of tasks and themes and other. So if there is anything that I can do, let me know. Thank you.

I don't know how you could have accidentally in Test Mode, but here's how you are supposed to activate or deactivate the Test Mode: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff553484(v=VS.85).aspx

There is some experience about it in this article:

    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ntdebugging/archive/2011/08/05/for-testing-purposes-only-and-other-desktop-watermarks.aspx

It could be that it is a particularly nasty brand of malware. I have not heard of something like this before and do not know how you could go about fixing this short of reinstalling Windows. Even if it is maybe not enough if startup records were damaged. I hope someone else can help.
