  • Windows 7 Pro - automatic update issues.

I did a clean install of Windows 7 Pro (with SP1) a few days ago. The PC works perfectly, apart from the fact that Windows Update will simply not work.

When I click on the "Check For Updates" button, it informs that it is looking for updates, but that she always looking. I left on for more than 24 hours, but he just keeps going until I stop and can't find updates.

I ran the advocatus of Windows Update and also the difficulty of problems updating from the MS site, both without success. I also checked that MS .net Framework is installed (that is, version 4.6.01055)

Can someone tell what could be the problem here? It's driving me crazy!

    Thanks for the update.

When you have several updates to install, you won't after a clean installation, you should consider installing batch of 10 / 20 to avoid the scenario that an update causes all updates to fail. It also allows to connect to the internet using an ethernet cable and not wireless, which is significantly slower and less reliable.

  • Windows 8 Pro OEM update problem

    Hi all

I recently bought an Acer P3 pre-installed with Microsoft Windows 8 single language tablet. Since I need to use some of the functionality available only with the Pro version, I bought a Windows 8 Pro OEM license. Since there is no way to reinstall Windows 8 at the beginning, I use the 'add new features' upgrade. Apparently the license does not work since it is a complete Pro 8 license and features requires the Windows 8 Pack Pro license instead. So, I make a call to Microsoft Tech Line and full of hope that they can change the license Pro Pack. After 2 hours of curiosity and the final tip, pleading for a change (it is not possible to Exchange or refund from the store I bought because the seal is already open), they will not always be allowed to change and leave me with RM 414 (~ 129 USD) in the sewers.

Is it possible for me to upgrade to Windows 8 Pro with this product key, and I really hope there is some flexibility on the part of Microsoft to help me in this situation since I already bought a Microsoft product with a higher value than the Pro Pack Upgrade. I would be happy for you to show my Bill and photo of the if product key requires Microsoft.

Thank you and looking forward to any kind of answers.

Unfortunately, add functionality does not support OEM System Builder licenses. You should have bought the Pro Pack or Pro Windows 8 details of upgrade.

Your only other option because you can not return it is again a custom installation of the currently installed Windows 8 SL. Backup the current Windows 8 install before do you.

First, create a backup of your installation of Windows 8 on an external hard drive:

    Then, create a repair disk:

Hello! without doubt, you went to 5FCN95WW BIOS, haven't you? you need to spend in startup mode in the BIOS. I can't remember which option is enabled by default, but there are only two of them - UEFI and legacy. you need to change to one that is not set by default

In addition, you need to know 5FCN95WW is buggy, and downgraded to 5FCN35WW would be your best bet. Once you sort the boot problem, consult this guide to downgrade: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-P-Y-and-Z-series/Guide-BIOS-Downgrade-from-5FCN95WW-to-5FCN35WW/...

    Hi @STICKMAN5124,

Nice day! Thank you for your participation in the Forums of HP Support! It is a great location to get resolutions and interact with experts from the community. It will be a pleasure to help you.

I saw the post and understand that after only a bios updated cursor drops down due to a problem of scrolling.

Impressive work, do the update of the bios. Kudos to you for this. It is a privilege to work with tech-savvy and technically competent customers like you and we greatly appreciate your business with HP. You have been great to work with.

Please check in F2 diagnostics if the scrollbar works correctly. If Yes, then you can update the chipset drivers and http://hp.com/drivers touchpad drivers you can also consult with a mouse external further isolate the issue.

You can also run diagnostics on the touchpad from this link by going to the UEFI F2 diagnostics: http://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03467259 please run the complete components. If any component fails, please note the failure code. This is done to determine if the problem is hardware or software partners.

If it passes and scrolling works very well, please perform these updates. If you are still having the same problem on page F2 UEFI (screen) then you could roll back bios after performing a hard reset. Link for the hard reset: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01684768

    • Please perform this step to roll back bios.  Hold down the "Windows" key and the letter "B" at the same time, then press the power also button for about 5 seconds at the same time.

I hope this helps. I would like to know how this happens. I hope the problem is solved without hassle and the unit works very well.

  • Lenovo E560 does not start after the BIOS update

Finally, gave in the throbbing Lenovo and updated the BIOS on my E560 - big mistake.

He's been through and installed correctly, no problems with chess, etc. (finally none that appeared on the screen).

The laptop delivered to market very well, he crossed and updated the BIOS, restarted once and... nothing.

At the present time I jumped the battery and power, reset the device (press the pwr for 15 sec, etc.), removed all devices, etc., etc., google for similar events and so little matter what I did, the laptop is as dead as a brick. I have the red on but that is all. Nothing doesn't appear on the screen (so can't see UEFI/BIOS), no fans start and the only thing that does the job is that the DVD drive can be opened.

It's a relatively recent laptop (minimum 12 months so still under warranty), but as a word of warning to the other owners E560 - DO NOT INSTALL THE latest VERSION of the BIOS update.

Well not unless you want a weight of expensive paper for your office.

Managed to get everything sorted out (thanks to Lenovo support).

Pop the battery and AC, then remove and reinstall the CMOS battery brought the laptop to life.

  • Windows 7 PRO GP update error

We have a very specific problem

We have a DC DC & installed in all offices (Windows 2008R2) primary school. The domain name is abc.com for all offices and between the DC replication occur between office arrive without problem.

Customers of each office gets authenticated to the domain controller in the competent office.

But for a group policy update, it gives an error like below

'Political work could not be updated successfully.  The following errors were encountered: the processing of Group Policy failed.  Windows tried to read the file -\sysvol\\Policies\{BD732AAF-016F-11D2-945F-00C04Fb984F9}\gpt.inigo to a domain controller and has failed.  Group Policy settings cannot be applied until this event is resolved. This problem may be transient and can be caused by one or more of the following:

    (a) name resolution/connectivity to the current domain controller.
    (b) latency file Replication Service (a file created on another domain controller has not replicated on the current domain controller).
    (c) the customer (DFS, Distributed File System) has been disabled.

The error occurs only on some clients.

We are able to Ping, connect to the local domain controller and the client gets the IP address of the local domain controller and gets also authenticated by the local DC to log on.

On the PC, which gives an error if we try to ping domain name - abc.com, it returns the ip address of the ms office to another, not the local domain controller.

  • Windows 8 Pro detail update of the additional keys only, they can be resold?

A few years ago I bought four of these keys directly from MS when they had a special on them. Now I use only a single key, 2 were used, but the computers have since been formatted and put discarded and 1 never activated key. Electronically, they were sent to me so there is no record to go with them, but MS has kept this page for a person to download Windows 8/8.1 using their key. What I've read that a touch of detail may be sold only once to another user. This applies in this case if no records were ever provided?

    Licensing information:

If the laptop came with the preinstalled Windows operating system (Dell, HP, Acer, etc.), this product key supplied with the laptop is preinstalled OEM license and is not transferable.

OEM license/product key (systems of operating pre-installed on Dell, HP, etc.) is related to the first machine it is installed on and dies when dies of this machine.

The above applies also to OEM system builders licenses.

License of operating system in detail, that you buy and install yourself, are allowed to be transferred to another machine.

And retail licenses also can be installed on a machine at one time.

  • HP Pavilion dv6 with Windows 7 - HP BIOS update

    Good afternoon

When I run the HP Support Assistant, under the button "updated and of the developed"; the tab "actions".  He tells me to update my BIOS.

I select and menu drop down it states the following:

    • SoftPaq = SP61028
    • Version = F.29

I select the download button and it does the new window and follow the download process.  When complete I chose to "restart" as requested.  Go through the necessary process.  Back on the desktop.

If I open the HP Support Assistant and look under the same as in the first sentence.  He told me that I should update the BIOS and is the the same thing again.

I tried 3 times to update my BIOS.  Is there a problem with the download?

Seems to me having 'weird' things going on with my laptop the past few weeks.  Hard to explain but I post something earlier on the Interactive Services detection window popping up.  Also my Mozilla Firefox keep gel (not answer) as well as a few other software.   I ran tune-up and make sure that I defragment on a weekly basis; seems to help.  I use ESET NOD32 Antivirus and it to update as it supposed to.

    Any suggestions?

    Robyn

    Hello again LuvGSPointers.

It turns out that SP61028 is the latest BIOS for your laptop.  However, you go ahead and try to download it directly from HP support site and install it.  Here is a direct link.

I also suggest that you uninstall and reinstall HP Support Assistant.  Here is a link to the latest version of HP Support Assistant.

Nice day.  I'll keep an eye out for your next reply.

  • Password bios Lenovo B50

Hi, I work in a school and one of our students has managed to put a bios password on one of our new laptops of Lenovo b50-80. Start the laptop, bios application "password disk HARD security." We're not sure how Flash the bios to reset it - how can we do this? We have tried to remove the CMOS battery and took the laptop apart to see if there are jumpers, but there isn't.

Any help would be great. Thank you

I was hoping you'd be able to boot into recovery mode using the "Novo" button located on the right side, near the USB port. With the help of this button to start the laptop should put you in recovery mode (recovery of key) that is integrated with most of the units.

If this does not work, the only two choices are to recover the password set by the individual or have the computer repair at a local authorized store.

Go further, setting a master password for the BIOS entry may be something that you should look at. I suggest to download the user guide / manual and reading on the password levels available service. -IMO contacting parents and informing them that they would be responsible for the costs repair / replace the notebook can also be something useful - your call.

    Good luck.

  • Windows xp pro sp3 can not get updates - don't stop to check updates and nothing happens.

For the past 2 weeks I can't get windows on windows xp pro sp3 updates. The green bar that runs while the verification of updates just keeps running and running and does'nt stop until I have stop. No error codes at all.
Run the fix it tool and indicates "registration for the service is missing or corrupted" and it offers a solution for the problem of the does'nt.
What is the reference for this?

I had the same problem and you will spend one day trying many suggestions, including various Microsoft Fix - its, which none worked, and which some worse messing with the BITs service (that I then had to restore, losing even more time).

In the end, I found that the problem was related to the update of Cumulative security for Internet Explorer 8. There is a kind of incompatibility with previous versions of this update that causes IE stuck when he tries to check the updates.

The solution for me was to download and install the * last * IE Cumulative Security Update * manually * before you try to run Windows Update to get the other patches. Here's how:

    (1) using the Internet Explorer, I visited the current MS security bulletin page

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/security/bulletin

    (2) from there, I went to the latest summary (November 2013) and found the update of IE at the top of the list: "Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer (2888505).

    (3) I couldn't see direct links for just this update, so I copied the number of the Knowledge Base - 2888505 - and google for "Download KB2888505" (Bing didn't work by the way). This gave me the direct download link:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?ID=41074

    (4) I have downloaded and run the update installer and then restarted (as required by the software update).

Microsoft/Windows Update restart worked. I repeated the same process on a second computer with the same problem and it worked also.

  • latest version of windows 7 pro, becomes slow

This afternoon, I ran to my Windows 7 Pro OS updates. There were 70 updates.

    Since

For example, if I click on the USB icon in the system taskbar, it takes 10 seconds to open the menu where you can eject a USB device.

If I open a folder with jpg images they no longer appear as the thumb immediately. Only the opening program icon appears. After a few seconds the inches begin to appear, one at a time every 4 seconds... incredibly slow.

When I opened PaintShopPro, same thing, I click on a photo, take a few seconds before my action is effective.

Thanks for all the help you can give me.

    Serge

    Hi Gerry,

Thank you very much for your answer and try to help me with this.

However, everything returned to normal after an hour. I suspect that Windows was doing something in my system. But one thing that one might suspect could be indexing. However, do not only because I voluntarily turned off indexing on my hard drive of 4 TB, because it makes everything slower. And I rarely need to run a search that I know where all my data.

So, for me, there's a new update rule: leave the computer for an hour after an update before trying to use it. It's annoying, but it will be of course less stressful to see what I saw.

  • Restore the computer to its factory XP Pro status update to SP3?

I am running Windows XP Pro SP2 on an old but still functional machine.  Despite several attempt I can't get bugs
