7sp1 Windows update fails to find updates on 16 April

Since MS began distributing Windows 10 via the update service, the download section to update on my windows 7sp1 platforms has played like a slug taking refuge on a wet Sunday.  I have 2x64bit and 1x32bit system, systems every few years.  The configuration is to check the updates but let me choose whether to download and install.  Why that - too many items is bloat: why in Australia should I language or monetary fixes for afghanistan? I use no programs? and following.  Those I choose is the important/critical ones just for windows.

So far, the available updates are identified easily on and patch Tuesday and - since July 2015 – I have become used to / upset the performance of slow download of updates.  I have even delayed update of several days checking to avoid the crowd on that day.  So many users have complained of the it - on the web and quiet fumers x 10 who - that MS do NOT know: it is assumed that this is now what they want their company and product image major is.  Admittedly, this is not what MS committed to during the sale of the operating system for good money we paid for it.

But this month, Apr16, while updates on 64-bit platforms have been slow, as usual, the 32-bit platform could not - even identify that the updates are available 3 days after the release of the patch.  The updates Panel showed that the date of the last audit is the patch tuesday itself, no update is available at this time.  The PC has been used every day since then.  The result for the 64 bits of the PC it takes between 15 to 20 items to install.  But the machine has served it powered, sitting in the audit for the screen with the green bar slip updates for hours.  Power off to leave the House, turn and repeat.  3 times in total.  When I gave up and decided to make another complaint, this is always the case

So my question is

is why windows update now - 3 days after the release of patch - not yet able to identify the updates required for a 32-bit platform?

On the first screen, select select other options.  It will then bring up a screen showing only the last 5 days of restore points (with a box at the bottom left away from check to display more than 5 days of restore points).  It's the same in all versions of Vista.  I don't understand why you didn't him are not see unless you have not more than 5 days old restore points (but I think that it would always show the box and the option anyway).  Try to run the system restore disk instead of from the computer to see if it works better.

  • 5.1 Windows search fails to find files

I keep the images in folders by year like 2008.  Looking for a 2008 find nothing.  This folder is located on the backup drives: F: and G:, H:, but Windows Search does not find it.  Nor it is images in the folder.  That is what it is?  How can I force a re-indexing?

Thanks, Imran.  I discovered a right click on the magnifying glass icon.  I re-indexed and it worked.  I appreciate your help.

  • Windows search fails to find the files in the Documents folder

Original title: Windows 7 search finds no files, even though all the settings have been verified and the search index has been rebuilt

I recently bought a new Dell laptop Studio 1558 with Windows 7 Home Premium and moved through several hundred documents from my old PC to the new folder 'My Documents'.

As many others have found, Windows Search has been completely useless. She seems to have no problem finding files in the music folder or image, but anything in the document library is invisible to the it - even if I get in a subfolder small for a file name I see just in front of me, Windows Search will announce that "no element not corresponding to your search.

I took a number of steps so far to fix the problem, which none have worked:

    1. I checked which locations are indexed for search and ensured that the document library is among them (as well as all of my C drive).

    2. I checked that appropriate file extensions (.doc .docx .pdf, etc.) are all selected from the "File Types" list in indexing options (although I noticed that 'Description of filter' for .pdf bed "Registered IFilert is not found" - not this problem with Word documents).

    3. I have deleted and rebuilt the search index.

    4. I ran the troubleshooting Windows 7 Search tool, which reports that it cannot find any problems.

    5. I have read that some problems with Windows 7 search can be solved by changing a registry key (http://www.intowindows.com/how-to-fix-windows-7-search-problems/) but when I navigate to the folder in my registry, only following three keys are here (not the one mentioned in the difficulty):

    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderTypes\ {0B2BAAEB-0042-4DCA-AA4D-3EE8648D03E5}
    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderTypes\ {36011842-DCCC-40FE-AA3D-6177EA401788}
    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderTypes\ {59BD6DD1-5CEC-4D7E-9AD2-ECC64154418D}

A couple of things, I said - if I create a new word document and save it, Windows Search seems to immediately get back on it and is able to find. I also noticed that at first when I opened one of the word documents that have been transferred over the old PC and then closed it again, Windows Search picked up on it and could find it. So I went to try to open and close then all of my documents (an arduous task...), but the subject to halfway through Windows Search has ceased to be able to find them.

All Word documents using Microsoft Word 2007 in .doc or .docx format, although the problem also applies to Excel, PDF and image files, so I don't think that the problem is with the word itself.

I have tried everything I can think so far, including all the solutions, I could see suggested in previous discussions. I really need the search function working to effectively use my laptop so that any help would be welcome!

    Thank you, Jack

Santosh thanks, I checked the permissions for the appropriate files and SYSTEM was present, which doesn't seem to be the problem. However, I found a solution that might work for other people are having the same problem.

I noticed that if I changed the location of the files, Windows search suddenly seems to become aware that they existed and then indexed and followed them correctly - even if they were subsequently moved back to the original location. I just created a temporary folder outside my library of documents and then each subfolder in the folder my documents him and then come back, one by one. It was a bit laborious but the problem solved - I know not why it worked, but all the old files are now indexed and appear correctly when you use Windows Search, and it seems not to have any problems, follow-up of the newly created files.

    Cheers, Jack

I have Vista Home Premium 32 bit system and I have problems with windows update since early April.

The system attempts to update 2807986 KB, 2809289, 2808735, 2820917, 2813345, 890830 (eventually successful), 2817183, 2813170 and 2823324. On reboot, it gives the message that the updates are not configured correctly, returning changes, do not turn off. I get the 8007371c error code in the popup window windows update but can't find specific information on this code. Help please!

  • USB ports not responding do not after windows update

After a windows update in March/April 2012 all my usb ports stop working. The single port works now is the SATA USB combo.

all I have this problem and know how to fix?
Even a general difficulty just to get ports working again would be greatly appreciated.
I've exhausted all other patches and now know that it is the windows update that caused the problem, so I'm forced to ask for help here.
Thanks in advance for your time.

Windows Update > history will show what has been installed.

In a first time visit your manufacturers of PC and update or reinstall your chipset drivers.

  • When you try to restore the system using the system image, Windows 7 does not find the USB HDD.

I have 3 computers backed up with their images of system on an external USB drive.

However, when you try to restore a computer using system image, Windows 7 fails to find the USB HDD.

I think it would be probably due to the fact that the WindowsImageBackup folder is probably not in the right place or a superfluous folder. Here's an example of how my disk backup has arranged record...

    Root for example E: /.

    - WindowsImageBackup

    -MediaID (file)

I realize that the WindowsImageBackup folder should be at the origin, so I moved this computer folder #1 a less E:\

However, restoration is unable to find it and can't even see the USB HDD.

Can anyone offer advice on what I can hurt?

When I went to another port for the USB, everything worked fine! Simple solution, that I should have tried first - duh! :-)

My USB 3.0 4TB drive was originally on a port USB 3 (which was either missing or not recognized by my Bios) and when I changed my old disk ports USB 2, everything has worked well!

  • Windows Update Standalone Installer: error 0x80073afc the resource loader failed to find MUI file. Windows 7 64 bit

I have a desktop PC running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.  There is an update which is unable to complete, causing the PC to undo changes to before the update.  It usually takes an extreme amount of time, and of course, I've always updates installed.  I tried to use the Microsoft Fixit tool, which came back with error 0 x 80070057.  I saw in a community forum that I could try the tool of microsoft SURT, but after the long scan he came back with the following error:

    Windows Update Standalone install

Setup has encountered an error: 0x80073afc

The resource loader failed to find MUI file.

    Please help.

    Hello

Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft community.

Thank you for details on the question and your efforts to resolve.

This problem can occur because of corrupted Windows Update files and components.

I suggest you to reset the Windows update components and check if that helps.
    Refer to this article:
How to reset the Windows Update components?
    https://support.Microsoft.com/en-us/KB/971058

Note: Serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

  • Windows update fails-G62-225DX - bad startup a factory?

My nephew came to me recently with a G62-225DX HP, concerned about safety.  Given this machine is several years old (recently handed down from his father - I quickly understood why), I was surprised to see she was always being basic Windows 7 Home Premium.  Without SP1.

My first attempt to resolve this was to run Windows Update - no luck - immediately fails with "cannot run - services is not started.  Of course, verification services, yes I see WU and BITS running.

So, like any good tech person, I check in the case where the logs and see various errors, including the constant complaints on the Crypto database being corrupted.

Then, up to be Googling for these symptoms/messages.  I see many people with the same problem and a lot of suggestions on how to fix this (re - reg WU, STRANDS of clear/reset, flush/empty C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution, catroot2 flush/empty, etc.).  Even seen one on the Intel hard drive problems due to replace it with a drive of more than 500 GB (this unit still has the original 320).

Spent hours trying all the suggestions there, especially when people said 'Yes, that fixed', nothing helps.

Since it was not something of value on this machine, I decide backup and restore "factory".

Imagine my surprise when, after reset of the image 'factory', it has exactly the same problem - Windows Update fails, out-of-the-box on the right!

I think to myself, it's crazy.  The machine is faulty from the start and everyone was naïve to not get Windows updates, AT ALL!

I even decided to try the Windows Update Checker (supposed to perform before installing SP1) and it fails with ' Windows Update Standalone install encountered and error - 0xc80000247 ".

So, I decided to run through the suggested fixes (from M$, no less) and all of a sudden, that Windows Update works.

I thought, it's fantastic.  He immediately calls to > 130 fixed critical.

After a few hours of download and installed, I restart only to get a BSOD - STOP 6 b - AAARRRGGGHHHH!  Tried to go through Windows restore previous checkpoint but that too fails with a mysterious error.  In addition, many Google hits on the 6 b says that it's a hardware problem.  But he was executed until the Windows update, with nothing in the case where newspapers to indicate hardware problems.

Then, I decided to do a restore from the image of what I started with.  At least it ran, even though she could not be updated.

I no longer dig and see a bunch of updates to the firmware/software for this machine, including the BIOS.  Even saw some strange 'Windows updates' HP.  I thought maybe it was something like the fiasco when the power management update for Intel processors had on machines AMD, thus paralyzing them!  Still nothing - WU still does not work!

Tried again to return to the original image, hoping that maybe to install all updates of office/hardware/driver on a virgin machine solve the problem.  Nope-WU still does not work.  Even went back through all the suggested fixed (saved as .bat files everthing).  Nothing, nada...

So, I'm posting here in hopes that someone has a miracle cure that I missed.

    Hello:

    I don't have a magic bullet...

The same thing happened to me while working on a friends HP 8100 Elite CMT, Windows 7 Pro, HP original image.

Would not install SP1 or Windows updates. I tried every trick in the book and after spending more than two hours, going nowhere, including restore from the recovery discs, I decided to install a plain OS W7 clean add drivers myself using the product key for W7 on the PC.

    It has worked well.

You can do the same thing if you can read the product key of W7 on the bottom of the laptop, and your nephew can't live without programs that was shipped with the PC.

In addition, if you format the drive and just install W7 on current partition, you can probably find the program of the installation files for the programs supplied with the PC in the SWSetup folder.

Here's how to do when you don't have installation of W7 media.

Use the installation of Windows 7 USB/DVD tool to compile the ISO file that you download from Digital River. The link below. You need a DVD or a 4 GB flash drive using the USB compilation method.

Use the product key of windows 7 of 25 characters to activate your installation.

    http://download.CNET.com/Windows-7-USB-DVD-download-tool/3000-18513_4-10972600.html

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below. Download the Windows 7 version that is on your product (Home Premium, professional or ultimate) key to apply.

  • Windows Update did not find updates more. The progress of the download stays on 0%...

I guess that it is a result of http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=947821.

I will go back to a system save point and will try to exclude the update above.

So far I have no idea on the reason of detail.

Encluded are some of the last line of the windowsupdate.log.

I hope this helps to find a solution for this error.

You can download and install KB947821 system preparation tool and let us know the result.

If the previous step fails then that run the Windows update Troubleshooting If you use Windows 7

Open the Windows Update troubleshooting tool

  • Windows 7 Build 7600, Windows Update failed: Error Code 80096004

Whenever I try to update my Windows 7 Home Edition Build 7600 through Windows Update, I get most of my updates reported as failures, and you try to update results once again updates failed fault and fault again, as in they are always fail. This computer is only a few weeks and I was never able to update windows properly and I always "error (s) found: Code 80096004.»

I'm under Alienware BIOS A09 if this is any help, and windows is genuine through the OEM. I got non-genuine errors in previous windows that were due to windows update failures, and yesterday I restored my computer to factory default which has removed all errors except windows update errors. So, to get these updates correctly will mitigate hope-other problems I have.

I used to receive the codes of error such as 80096003 and another who was something similar (do not remember exactly the code) to 8001b 010. Cutting windows firewall has removed these errors happen in windows update, or so I think.

Anyway, the real culprit right now, I believe is the "error (s) found: Code 80096004.» How can I fix this error in my Windows Update so that I can continue to update? Whenever Windows Update tries to download updates, the process of "Download" will always result in a constant 0% and never pass and will always fail. I have about 30 updates, I need to download/update and catch him. Most are updated critical or very important.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Windows Update fails because TrustedInstaller fails to start due to bad road cbscore.dll

I get error 80080005 when you try to run windows update.  I followed this to the fact that the Windows Module Installer fails to start.  Using ProcMon I could find this TrustedInstaller.exe fails to start.  It is a failure due to the following:

TrustedInstaller.exe QueryOpen C:\Windows\servicing\0.0.0.1\cbscore.dll IO QUICK REJECTED
TrustedInstaller.exe CreateFile C:\Windows\servicing\0.0.0.1\cbscore.dll path ACCESS not FOUND
TrustedInstaller.exe QueryOpen C:\Windows\servicing\0.0.0.1\cbscore.dll IO QUICK REJECTED
TrustedInstaller.exe CreateFile C:\Windows\servicing\0.0.0.1\cbscore.dll path ACCESS not FOUND

I searched and cbscore.dll is actually under:

    C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-Windows-servicingstack_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6002.18005_none_0b4ada54c46c45b0

I tried to understand where TrustedInstaller.exe gets the path for cbscore.dll, but I had no chance.  Can someone tell me where TrustedInstaller.exe gets this way?  Or, more generally, how can I solve this problem?

    Thank you!

  • Windows update fails with 0 x 80070424 among others (update agent will not install)

I tried to install iTunes 9.2 on my computer of girls running Vista 64 sp1.  It failed several times with an error message encrypted with public keys and RCH80.  I took this down to a problem of lack of security patches.  In the process, I noticed that Windows Update has been fails with error 0 x 80070424, indicating a required service was not running.

so I downloaded sp2, also the operation failed with error 0 x 80070424 even.  I checked the Background Intelligent Transfer and start-up and running (so I restarted), I checked Windows Update and it was also running and so I restarted.  Same result.  I've disabled UAC and restarted.  Still no joy.

Then I read an article on the subject, said a service called "Automatic updates" should be running, not only he was not running, did not exist. Some that I've been on something I downloaded "windowsupdateagent30 - x 64 .exe" to install the service.  Unfortunately, this fails with a fatal error, no number error, simply "windows has encountered a fatal error.

It is where I am at this time - trying to figure out a fix for this.  Thank you.  (I also disabled AV, firewall, etc., ran several antivirus scans, malware scans including Malware Bytes, AVG and Avast and MS Defender and rootkit detectors which come clean).

    Voila!

It's annoying that it is a known problem with the trustedinstaller.exe being corrupted and or deleted, but it is so hard to find an answer to the question.
