8 GB of additional ram to add to my HP Pavilion dv6-7031tx laptop?

Last week, I bought the HP Pavilion dv6-7031TX notebook pc. It's a great laptop for games with 2 GB nvidia GT 630 M, but it came with only 4 GB of DDR3 ram. Now my question is, how much more ram can I add to my laptop? and what brands should be compatible other than HP?

On the HP site, I found that the phone supports up to 8 GB memory DDR3 (http://h20386.www2.hp.com/AustraliaStore/Product.aspx), but when I used the crucial scanner (http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner/), he suggested the 16 GB (8 GB x 2) kit. What does that mean?

Hello:

The product specification page is incorrect.

You can install 2 x 8 GB memory PC3-12800 (DDR3-1600).

See Chapter 1, page 4 of the the service manual on the link below.

http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c03216834.PDF

I live in the United States, so I don't know what brands are available in Australia.

If you can get Kingston, Crucial, Patriot, G.Skill, those would be nice.

Just make sure it is PC3-12800, no ECC, unbuffered memory.

The Crucial system scanner will present the memory you need specs-wise.

    Hello.

I think you can install the drive and use your recovery disk to reinstall Windows.

You can change the hard drive of your computer with a WD one Pavilion, just keep in mind that you need a 2.5 inch drive. In addition, if your Pavilion model is dv6500 or more, it has a SATA-II interface, but you can always take a drive SATA-III and it will not work (although will run at the lower speed of SATA-II).

Here, you want to take a look at all our 2.5-inch drives:

I use an HP pavilion dv6-3109tu laptop

    Currently I have 3 GB ram (1 + 2).

I think to increase RAM 6 GB or 8 GB. It will be imprpve the performance of the laptop?

What type and how much RAM I have to add my laptop currently has 2 + 1 GB of ram.

    Hi Jayendrapatel,

It is true that a 32 bit OS has a limitation of 4 GB. Limits of memory for Windows and Windows Server. (from msdn.microsoft.com)

I see that you upgraded to Windows 8 pro 32-bit.  If you do not format the recovery partition you may still be able to access and make a recovery to factory. Performing a recovery of system HP (Windows 7)

During the recovery process, you will receive an option to backup your personal files to avoid data loss. If you have not already done one, I suggest you do one now.

Restore files that have been supported to the top using HP Recovery Manager (Windows 7)

If you have formatted the recovery partition, you need to contact HP support and educate yourself on a recovery kit.

  • Pavilion dv6 6165tx: ram upgrade

    Hello
I have pavilion dv6 6165tx laptop with 4 GB ram and I want to bring to 8 GB. I want to ask that buy no matter what brand of ram (Kingston, G skill, etc.) from any site like Amazon, eBay etc. Please answer ASAP

The only safe way to buy RAM is to buy only guaranteed compatible memory from a memory important manufacturer.

Otherwise, you take the very real chance of having no a start-up scenario when you place the memory in.

Do a Google search with the upgrade memory pavilion dv6 6165tx as keywords. Add the brand name of manufacturer of memory.

Once you know which modules are guaranteed to work in your notebook by the memory manufacturer, you can look at your leaisure from a seller who has them at the best price point.

  • Pavilion dv6-6159er: max size of RAM in dv6-6159er

Tell me, please, what is the maximum size of RAM I can use in the Pavilion dv6-6159er?

Official website shows 8Gb. But the characteristics of the processor i5 2140 m - a indicated that the maximum size of RAM is 16 GB.

On models with gen 2d Intel Core, Quad Cores will have 16 gigs and the dual core 8. The OP is a dual core so 8 is the maximum. All that will be a 8 + 4 will take 8 + 8.

    I have a HP Pavilion dv6 5CH1342RW4 laptop computer Intel Core i7-2670QM CPU @ 2.20 GHz.

What is the maximum RAM of my laptop? It came with 6 GB (2 GB SODIMM ELPIDA 1333 MHz
4 GB SODIMM Micron), now I want to upgrade.  It will be up to 8GB, 16 GB, or even?

And on my his AMD Radeon HD M 7400 gpu. I would also like to update in a more advanced gpu. What are the compatible gpu for my laptop?

Hope to here from you soon guys. Thank you!

8 GB (2 x 4 GB modules) is your maximum memory and there is no way to upgrade the GPU. It is soldered to the motherboard and cannot be removed or replaced. The numbers you supply are not portable or product model number we would need for more specific information. There may be another motherboard that you could install which would have slightly better graphics, but it would be, at best, a slight improvement for a significant cost and hassle.

  • Speed max and the capacity of RAM of Pavilion dv6

    Hi guys,.

I don't know, you have been asked before, but each post I find little answers my question, but not exclusively:

What is the maximum speed and the RAM capacity can put in my Pavilion dv6 (Beats edition)? Completely factory standard

I want the fastest and most large amount of RAM I can get (I'll make heavy photo editing) and then I put a SSD in as well?

    HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1

    Intel Core i3 - 2330 M CPU @ 2.20 GHz

    RAM:

Slot 1: 2 GB SODIMM Hynix 1333 MHz

Slolt 2: 4 GB SODIMM Samsung 1333 MHz

    Radeon (TM) HD 6490 M

    Motherboard: 17F9 10.5 A

    BIOS: F.1B

    Sincere greetings

    Justin

You are the very welcome, Justin.

    Yes, that's correct. 2 x 8 GB PC3-10600 memory.

Memory will not run any more quickly than the FSB of the processor. Your CPU FSB is 1333 MHz.

For example: If you have installed 2 x 8 GB PC3-12600 (1666 MHz) memory, he would go only to 1333 MHz.

I don't think that there is no outside but except DDR5 memory in video cards.

But you can not mix DDR memory types, because they work with different voltages and the notches are cut at different places on DDR, DDR2, and DDR3 memory modules to prevent someone to install the bad memory in the PC and damage memory, motherboard or both because of the different voltages they run on.

    Best regards

  • Satellite Z930 - after the update of the BIOS, additional RAM no longer works

I bought my Z930 Satellite in August and installed 2 GB of additional RAM in it. Worked well, the Ultrabook detected and had total 6 GB of RAM.
Yesterday, I stopped ignoring these messages from Toshiba Tempro and installed the BIOS update suggested that Bios 2.20 (not sure what version it was before). Now, I have several problems:

    * First *, my Ultrabook no longer starts with the extra RAM. I press the power button and then the power light flashes: yellow 2 times 1 times orange loop. The screen stays black and the CPU fan starts at the maximum level... Only when I remove the extra RAM, then it boots.

    * Second problem *, without my extra RAM, it starts, but sometimes with the fan from the CPU to the maximum level. I so restart it stops.

    * Third problem *, Windows doesn't detect only 2 GB of RAM. I have now no extra RAM mounted, it should detect the 4 GB of RAM, as when I bought it. Now, there are only 2 GB...

So this is what happens when I install the proposed updates? -.-
So, what can I do now? At least, I want my preinstalled 4 GB of RAm back. Is there a BIOS downgrade, or something similar to undo changes?

    Thanks for the final suggestions!

  • Additional RAM purchase

Apple does not provide additional RAM for my iMac. How can I identify what RAM to buy on Amazon?

We can help you only if you identify exactly which iMac you have.

  • Installation of additional RAM in T500

Basically, I got my T500 this year with an additional ram to complete the 2 GB, it comes with.  I know where the ram is and how to get there, but I'm confused about how the second ram card goes on top of the old.  The only video on the website lenovo shows a guy put in the first map of ram.  Any instructions on how the second card must be facing, a sign that it is connected, and I have to to see if my computer recognizes the new ram would be very useful.

    Thanks in advance.

    ajmack2,

I'm going to assume that you now have only 1 module installed, a single 2 GB module in the lower slot.   The modules are memory clavetés so that they can really only go one way.  After removing the keyboard and palm rest, insert the new memory module in the empty holder.  Sometimes, there is a flap or little material there which partially obstructs your vision of the socket.

The module goes into a corner and you insert in to the screen, then press gently downwards.   The holes at each end of the module must be aligned with the clips and they should snap into place.

When you put together and restart, you can check that it's seen either by opening a command prompt and type "winver", or go in start-> my computer-> information system (on the left at the top of the page system tasks).  The general tab of the resultant pop up screen should show you how much memory is available.

Note winver and control panel will report slightly different amounts.  With a 32 bit OS, you will see more 3 GB if, and when you run the integrated graphical mode, you can only see 2.5 GB in some cases because some is reserved for the video.

    Best regards

  • RAM upgrade: HP Pavilion dv6 6119tx

    Hello!

I intend to upgrade RAM on my HP Pavilion dv6 6119tx model that comes with a 4 GB SODIMM ELPIDA 1333 MHz RAM in one of the slots two memory. Now can I add a 8 GB of RAM in the second slot for a total of 12 GB of RAM to my system?

Here are the details of the RAM, I will buy:

I recommend that you try not 8 GB + 4 GB configuration unless you don't mind taking the risk that it does not. Laptop you supports up to 16 GB of memory installed. Personally, I've never had a need for more than 8 GB installed a laptop.
