8 or 16 wireless LANs supported

OK, I've looked everywhere and I can't seem to find the answer.  I know that the WLCs supports up to 16 wireless LANs, but I could have sworn that I see only 8 could be active at the same time.  We had a combination of WISN WLC 4400 and WLC 2100 s in our environment.  The only places wer you're going to need more than 8 is in our stores WISN and WLC 4400.

Any help is appreciated (accompanied by supporting documents if you have one).

Thank you all!

Ryan

I don't have the docs in front of me, but I know that the 6.0 code supports more than 8 (I think 16), given that we currently have 10 local wireless networks deployed during our migration. -John

Edit: Found this in the WLC 6.0 configuration guide:

All controllers to publish up to 16 local to each connected access point wireless networks, but

You can create up to 512 wireless LANs and then selectively publish these wireless LANs (using access point groups)

at various points of access in order to better manage your wireless network.

And this from the 4.2 guide:

The Solution of UWN Cisco can control up to 16 for light access points wireless LANs. At each WLAN

an ID separated from WLAN (1 to 16), a separate WLAN SSID (WLAN name) and can be assigned unique

security policies.

    Hi mpw101,

I understand that you get an automatic update that indicates that you must install the software driver for your Ralink Wireless LAN card, and I would be happy to help you!

For your computer, the most up-to-date Ralink Wireless Network Controller Driver is labeled sp58084.exe. I spoke with Dunidar on this subject, and he referred me to a previous post that you created on your network card. That being said, if you update is always at the SP62055.exe, please ignore this update as it is a business unit.

    I hope this helps!

  • Cisco NAC does support Wireless LAN?

    Hello

I know that Cisco NAC support LAN wireless. I sent myself with various brands of autonomous APs. These work very well using the in-band, out-of-band mode.

However, Cisco has been mentioned for Cisco AP, with Cisco switches and Cisco NAC, out-of-band is supported. I tried this today and it's or Cisco's fake, which is highly unlikely, or I have not configured the portion of the NAC or the access point Cisco correctly, which is most likely? I wonder where am I wrong? Please someone advice me on this?

    Hi Jean Claude,

You can now do out-of-band with wireless deployments, but you must have a Wireless Lan Controller manage your APs. You can't do it with autonomous APs.

The guide below will for most of the configuration:

  • the upgrade of the card wireless LAN on my HP Elite HPE-210f desktop PC

Y at - it recommended for my Realtek 8111C Wireless LAN card upgrade existing?

Unlike laptops, HP does not publish information about wireless in desktop cards, otherwise their existence. The manual indicates that the wireless card is a x 1 pci-e expansion card. In laptops, the BIOS block cards wireless non-approved to allow the system to boot. I don't think it's true in desktop computers.

Here are the specs, including a photo of the wireless card:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02016429

Here is the manual to upgrade:

    Manual

You should be able to remove the existing wireless card and replace it with any other. Here's an option:

    http://www.Amazon.com/TP-link-TL-WDN3800-wireless-express-low-profile/DP/B00ATXJRD4/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8 & qid = 1393681688 & SR = 8-3 & Keywords = PCI - e + Wireless + Card + 5 + GHz

Existing card is a dual-band 2.4 ghz or 5 ghz and must perform well but Ralink cards tend to have problems and that is an understatement. You might want to try upgrading the driver, and you can check the antennas to see if they are connected to the right.

  • extensible wireless LAN

can someone tell me what is needed for a wireless to the high-grade as it says on my lap top wireless lan upgradeable, ilink (ieee 1394) have'nt an idea what it means and tried to read the manual but I just more confused
    Thanks in advance
    Pete

    Hello

I think you're a little confused... IEEE 1394 doesn't have to do with wireless.

Take a look at this description that I took on the Net:

«A very fast external bus standard that supports data transfer rates of up to 400Mbps (in 1394) and 800Mbps (in 1394 b).» Products supporting the 1394 standard go under different names, according to the company. Apple, which originally developed the technology, uses the brand name FireWire. Other companies use other names, such as i.link and Lynx to describe their 1394 products. »

"Its scalable architecture and makes them flexible-to-peer topology, IEEE 1394 ideal to connect devices ranging from hard drives and printers digital audio and video equipment time real treatment requirements for multimedia on time."

So, I think you should ask Toshiba support on the meaning that they really with this 'extensible wireless LAN.

Furthermore, what is the model of your laptop?

  • Satellite C660-15 cannot install the update of wireless lan

I receive a notice indicating that my wireless lan driver should be updated. I followed the instructions and know which unit my laptop (Realtek: RTL8188CE) and download the appropriate driver software. It appears as a zip file in my downloads folder. I unzip and then what?

Read the instructions Dutch (although I prefer English on notice that download and update the driver) it is said to look for a readme file (they are all very old, since 2010, none in 2011). Really they don't say anything about what to do. In Dutch, he also says to click on SETUP. I find one that is marked as an application, so I double click that.

It runs, and then on the screen it says something like: "the software may or may not have installed correctly". So I click on it to install it again. Same thing.

I had no idea if it installed correctly or not, so I clicked on the features of network/system/control panel (?) / Realtek... and right-click to see which version of the device driver is there and it has not changed.

So, what should I do to get this new driver works correctly?

I tried several times and it doesn't work right. It becomes very frustrating and there seems to be no way to contact Toshiba support, other than through this forum (which is users rather than support from Toshiba, I think).

    Help, please.

    cjbbrussels

Try to install the driver using the old-school method.

Enter the card WLAN (Device Manager) properties > driver > Update driver and browse to the RTL_Driver folder. Choose the folder 7 x 64 or 7 x 78, according to the version of the OS you are using.

I think that it will install the driver.

By the way: If your WLAN is working properly you should not install this driver.

  • Wireless LAN

I have a HP P6640f desktop with ralink 802.11n wireless LAN card.  Since I'm in the office, the intensity of the signal was low compared to other units (for example, HP laptop).  Recently, the intensity of the signal has dropped and speed, which never exceeded tb Mb, dropped as low as 11 t.  I just drop a new router, but it has not solved the problem.  I installed a usb wifi adapter and I can get speeds up to 150 MB and download speeds jumped 50 10 MB with the installed adapter to nearly 20 MB with the usb adapter.  I tried to reinstall the network card, but no luck.  Any ideas how should I proceed?

    Hello again @P1006User,

I suggest you use the HP support document: using Microsoft System Configuration (Windows 7) through your startup items and eliminate any that reference your old card WiFi. If you don't know one that might disable all and start the reactivation of their groups until you identify the most appropriate.

I hope that I have answered your question to your satisfaction. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • Satellite U940 - update Realtek Wireless LAN Driver

I just upgraded my Satellite U940 PSU6VA - 00S 002 Windows 8 to 8.1 of Windows and am currently following the instructions of the upgrade from here. I noticed that European and Australian Toshiba sites include a 'Realtek Wireless LAN Driver' in their list of downloads driver for Windows 8.1 for the Satellite U940:
    - European page
    -[http://support.toshiba-tie.co.jp/windows81/drivers/PSU6V_Up_au.htm]

However, I have never noticed any a Realtek wireless LAN driver on my computer, before even that I have upgraded to Windows 8.1. I've only seen in Device Manager network cards:
    -Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2200
-Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller (which I believe is a wired LAN driver, not a LAN wireless driver).

So my question is: do I have to download the Realtek wireless network driver or is it not suitable for my system?

    > So my question is: do I have to download the Realtek wireless network driver or is it not suitable for my system?

Your laptop was equipped with Intel wireless network adapter and NOT card Realtek WLan and therefore the Realtek WLan driver does not need to be installed.
You should consider a fact: there are different laptops on the market models that are equipped with different material parts. Some support the Realtek WLan card and some models were equipped with modules WLan Intel and that's why you can find some drivers (like Realtek Bluetooth Driver Package Filter) in the driver from the list of downloads that are not essential for all models.

  • ConfigFree Autoswitch wireless lan wired

I use laptop desktop wired Lan and then at home on the wireless LAN. I set automatic network switch networks. Then I profile using SSIS auto switch and saved a profile of LAN wireless House that changes the proxy and printer.

It all works when go from office to home. However, I think in all cases to get the profile to switch back to office settings when I return to the office and it auto predisposees to the LAN cables. I can record and Office Lan profile but as it is not wireless and does not have a SSID it will not switch back automatically.

    Anyway to do it?

    Rob

    Hello

    > but as it is not wireless and does not have a SSID it will not switch back automatically.
    I think that's the point;
In my opinion the Configsys doesn t pass to the local network because of the identification of missing LAN (SSID)

Here you can find beautiful description how to set up the automatic SSID switch
    http://209.167.114.38/support/TechSupport/troubleshooting/ConfigFree/index.htm

I think that without the SSID, you won't be able to get this feature.

It could be interference from program, first go into your software settings in your BIOS, go to security and disable secure boot. This can sometimes prevent update programs. And then perform a clean boot, follow these instructions to make a boot minimum https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135
