8600 pro: HP Officejet Pro 8600.exe Association

I accidentally made the association to open the file for HP Officejet Pro 8600.exe it self.  Where are stored the information of the association.  I don't find it in the registry.  Uninstalling and reinstalling were without help.

Hi @Gus50310

Try these steps and let me know how it goes:

  1. Open Control Panel and click programs.
  2. Click on "default programs.
  3. Click on "Messiaen a type of file or Protocol with a program.
  4. Locate and double-click on the HTA extension, and select "Microsoft (R) HTML Application Host".
  5. If this is not an option, click on more, scroll down and click "find another application on the PC.
  6. Navigate and select "C:\Windows\System32\mshta.exe".

Now confirm the change and check for the difference.

Hope that helps,

Shlomi

I just got an Officejet Pro 8600 N911a and installed out of the box with no problems... it prints, copies and scans wonderfully.

I just downloaded this package "complete" on HP.com and that seems to work as well.  He put an icon on my desktop and programs (I use Windows 7 64-bit) which is a shortcut that points to this "C:\Program HP HP Officejet Pro 8600\Bin\HP Officejet Pro 8600.exe" - UDCDevicePage start

The first time I used this, he showed me a page of control with options to check the ink levels, connectsion etc.  Then I rebooted, and now if I click on the icon, I get the message of Windows asking me if its ok for the program change windows (as if its about to install something) and then shows me a box that wants to connect a new printer or change the wireless settings.  I tried to run the program from the command prompt with and without the "-Start UDCDevicePage ' qualifier and it gives me the same thing.  ... Always the same restart.

the printer works fine... just this irritating program.  any thoughts?

Something was damaged during the restart. You need to just uninstall and reinstall the software and the drivers again.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus - what is HP Officejet Pro 8600.exe do exactly?

    -HP Officejet Pro 8600 more

    -Windows 7

-No error message--> is something happening?

    Hello

Installing HP Officejet Pro 8600 over CD installs some desktop icons, among them the one that points to

"C:\Program HP HP Officejet Pro 8600\Bin\HP Officejet Pro 8600.exe".

By clicking on this icon, nothing happens, even if a process with the HP Officejet Pro name 8600.exe appears in the Windows 7 Task Manager. Clicking on new starts a next process.

My Question 1: What is supposed to happen?

My Question 2: I'm still looking for the installation of the HP printer, well I could complete my installation through the Web server, there should be one also a desktop application. If HP Officejet Pro 8600.exe is the start of this desktop application, what am I doing wrong?

    Thank you and best regards,

The executable your seeing is the control panel of the printer on the computer.  He replaced Solution Center on the newer printers.  The reason why it is not opening is because the pritner has not been completely installed.  To complete the installation, click on the start menu, select all programs, find and select the HP, folder, select the 8600 folder and select Add a device (it can be labeled printer installation and software).  That should allow you to complete the installation and access to the printer.

  • HKCR broken .exe association

Running Vista SP2 on Dell Inspiron laptop.
SuperAntiSpyware (free version - Version of the Application: 5.0.1146 - core rules database Version: 8424 - Trace rules database Version: 6236) suddenly began to raise the HKCR/.exe file association broken.
MalwareBytes does not give any error, nor does Ad-Aware.
I ran the reg. taken from http://www.winhelponline.com/articles/105/1/File-association-fixes-for-Windows-Vista.html (as seen on the forums), but I get the same error coming. I confirmed the entries in the file have been applied.
The only entry is missing seems to be:
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\. [EXE]
    @= "exefile".
This has been added, and again, I get the error.
The HKCU/exefile entry shows - shellex down - a couple of entries not in the winhelponline file:
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shellex\PropertySheetHandlers]

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shellex\PropertySheetHandlers\PifProps]
    @= "{86F19A00-42A0-1069-A2E9-08002B30309D}".

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shellex\PropertySheetHandlers\ShimLayer property page]
    @= "{513D916F-2A8E-4F51-AEAB-0CBC76FB1AF8}".

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shellex\PropertySheetHandlers\ {B41DB860-8EE4-11D2-9906-E49FADC173CA}]
    @=""

If this could have something to do with the error?
I have no problem to open an exe file.
Can someone explain what's going on here and can I report this as a false positive return to SAS as all 'seems' to be otherwise OK?
    Thank you very much
    Dave

    Thank you very much.
My thoughts are very similar, that my machine is proabably erase whatever it is nasty - but it's always a concern when one tends to rely as much on these bits software anti-virus and when one of them brings up a problem.
HKCU .exe and exefile looks about normal from what I see in various forums, so I guess that will have to keep an eye on SAS forums for someone else reports.
Thanks again for the reassuring comments. I hope you are correct in your assumptions!

    Hello

    see if this helps you;

When you run an .exe on a Windows Vista-based computer file, the file can start another program. In addition, the icon of the file .exe may not appear as expected. You can also receive additional errors in the .exe file or the program that starts.

  • OfficeJet pro 8600: printer works fine, but the software is not

    Printer works fine.

However, the HP support the program "HP OfficeJet Pro 8600" will not start. I can see it in the HP folder under all programs, but clicking on the program name has no effect. The program name poins to "C:\Program HP HP Officejet Pro 8600\Bin\HP Officejet Pro 8600.exe" - UDCDevicePage Start

In addition, in devices and printers in Control Panel, the printer connected displays. By double clicking on the icon takes me to...

Opening HP All - in - One Printer Remote takes me to the window right... but the printer shows offline, and the various functions (scan, fax, etc.) are not available. (As noted, the printer is currently online, and I can print correctly.

    Connection to the wireless printer.

All these functions work fine if I call them from the physical control on the front of the printer Panel.

I don't know if these are two separate issues, or the two aspects of the same problem.

    Any thoughts?

    Thank you.

    Hi again,

my opinion: it s a proggie that puts the monitors if an external monitor has been fixed. The program may only goes by default to the external monitor (analog) when windows is started.

Just guessing, but it (hopefully) sounds plausible. ;)

  • How can I restore association .exe on Server 2008

My server had a virus has changed it the .exe association.  I cleaned the virus, but the question of the association remains a problem.  I can't open regedit (regedit.exe) to solve the problem of the association, or I can't open a command (cmd.exe) prompt. When I try to open these programs I get an error message: "Windows cannot open this file: cmd.exe".

  • Convert Windows 7 Pro MBR GPT UEFI

    Question 1:

I would like to convert to Windows 7 Pro in UEFI.

    I've referenced article 14286.

Windows 7 Pro bcdboot.exe doesn't have "/ f" option. Can I copy a Windows 7 Pro USB bootable Windows 10 bcdboot.exe and get the following to work?

    BCDboot c:\windows /s d: /f UEFI

    Question 2:

On a machine that allows legacy and the UEFI BIOS setting is there a reason for not using the option 'ALL' on the bcdboot command?

    Thank you

Since this is a destructive anyway conversion, do a normal UEFI boot clean reinstall Windows 7 install the installation media that supports UEFI provided in connection with the Key in the BIOS Boot Menu , choose only the version media UEFI, then Custom, and then delete all partitions up to unallocated space to reset the disk for the installation of formatting , create/update shaped new partitions as desired, or click next to the automatic formatting and begin the installation.

If no choice of UEFI media is present in the Key of the BIOS Boot Menu ,

Make sure that any installer flash stick was created using Rufus,

Access configuration UEFI firmware (BIOS) to check the settings for UEFI (first), MSC or Legacy BIOS (disabled), Secure (off) Boot and BIOS Boot Priority, which should have Windows boot manager first appear during a UEFI install-well he can't present until during the installation.

  • The difficulty to install QuickBooks Pro 2002 on my new Windows 7 system.

I managed to install the program, but when I try to start it, I get a runtime error message!  Program: c: Program Files (x 86) \Intuit\QuickBooks Pro\qbw32.exe.
This application has requested the execution in an unusual way.

    Hello Elizabeth,.

What I see on the Quickbooks site, only the version 2007 upwards has full support for Vista.  Since version 2005 and before you had to use compatibility mode to work properly.  So you can either try the compatibility mode to see if it works.

Right click on the executable, select Properties Quickbooks.  There, click on the Compatibility tab.  Use the drop-down list box to select XP SP2 or SP3 of XP.  Use the box and select run as administrator.  Click OK.  Now, try to run Quickbooks.  If this does not work then Quickbooks 2002 is not compatible and cannot run in XP Mode or buy an updated release of the product.

    Kind regards
