A change of system by an UNKNOWN program

A balloon popped up warning there was a change of system by an unknown program. I don't know what is the program, but this is the way that I copied from the event log.

A common use of the Desktop.ini file is to assign a custom icon or a thumbnail image in a folder. You can also use Desktop.ini to create a ToolTip that displays information about the file and controls certain aspects of the behavior of the file, for example by specifying the names localized for the folder or the items in the folder.

Method 1: Start your computer in a clean boot and check if you still receive the same warning message. Consult the following link for the boot.

Note: When you are finished troubleshooting, follow step 7 article to start on normal startup.

Method 2: I also suggest you to run a full scan of the system on the computer by using the Microsoft Safety Scanner and check if the computer is infected with the virus.

    Given that your pc is clean, have you tried to remove this corrupt icon? You can simply copy and paste the right (operation) is one in the old location. Let us know if it works for you. Make it a great day!

  • Cancel the file association for extension .lnk to origin of the "unknown program" settings

    I got interrupted and changed the file on the extension .lnk association to my browser.  Now, all shortcuts open with the browser.
    I need to restore this file associated with the unknown program.

    I tried running system restore, but it fails for reasons unknown, but probably because of a call to a .lnk (?) file

    No details on editing the registry to correct this errow would be appreciated.  Thank you.

    The answer to my own question, but for those of you are having problems with file associations in Windows 7, which does not propose a deletion or to remove the feature, see this link:

  • D3D is disabled on my system for 32-bit programs and 64-bit, it works perfectly

    D3D is disabled on my system for 32-bit programs, but 64-bit, it works perfectly. I previously had this problem but may not know what I did to cause this.
    The only thing I found which seems to lack it is installing the dirext x Diag information are below.

    I reinstalled the drivers, put my graphics performance up and tried to reinstall direct x but it tells me its already there. Theres no option or a button to activate the d3d in dxdiag and I am full of ideas. I have a nice pile of games to work through, but none works. Any help is appreciated.

    The message (this device is currently in use. Close any programs or windows that might be using the device, and then try again) is usually the result of an application, file, open the document, audio or video, or any other application is being used (ranging from the USB key) when you try to remove it by clicking Remove the device safely in the notification area.

    The error can also be caused if your anti-virus is actively followed / analyze the USB drive. Click the icon and you will see a list of devices. Click the device you want to remove. Windows will display a notification to tell you that it is safe to remove the device.

    I also suggest you make a system full scan just to be sure.

    Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

    If you see only the fonts system and no additional (specific program) installed fonts, then you can try the following steps and check.

    Most likely, the fonts are installed on your computer are hidden. Did the same by following these steps.

    Method 1:

    a. open fonts by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, appearance and personalization, and then clicking fonts.

    b. now click organize , and then click on folder and search options.

    c. click the display and check to select Show hidden files, folders and drives.

    d. click apply and OK. Check if you see all the fonts.

    (Make sure that show you the files hidden after the repair is done by selecting don't show hidden files, folders and drives.)

    Method 2:

    Try to perform the clean boot procedure and check if it helps.
