A complete recovery test - Oracle 11 g

Y at - it all a simple doc that explains the following Oracle recovery/restore test.

I have the Oracle 11 g (on Oracle Enterprise Linux) database with SID as ORCL.

I want to take to the ORCL database HOT backup and restore it as a ORCL01 on the same server without disturbing any other installation program.

Any doc/articles on the web to make it a full test?
Thank you
Smith

The docs RMAN (http://tahiti.oracle.com) should be sufficient.

If you don't care about the details, you can back up the databases with

RMAN target /
RMAN> backup database;

You may need to offer a bit more precise as to what you intend to restore and recovery.

This can help:

  • Certified Oracle 7.3, 8i and 8 - How can I find my number of test Oracle?

I am certified in Oracle 7.3, 8i from 1999 to 2001 and 8. I want to certify on 9i so that I can take up to 11g. I have all my certificates Prometric and OCP cards, but I don't see a test Oracle ID. How will I know what it is? Is there someone I can contact?

    Thank you

    Leo

    Leo,
It is likely, given that you have not tested in so long, that your test ID is your social security number.
It was for me, a few years ago and then at some point converted Prometric using not more, so I had to get a new code.
Now that PearsonVue done their exams, you should probably contact them about this.

    Dear,

What is the difference between Prometric ID and ID Oracle test?

    Thanks in advance.

A way of seeing things is such:

(a): a Prometric Id is the identifier used by Prometric to identify a candidate
(b): year Oracle test Id is the identifier used by Oracle to identify a candidate.

    (c) up to September 2009 (transition to Pearson VIEW), it's the same thing. (In fact the term + Oracle Testing ID was not used).

    (d) post September 2009 it was held for those whio had already tested with Prometric, their identity card to test Oracle would be their ID of Prometric (old).

    (e) for dong candidates their first tests with Pearson VIEW they will be awarded a trial entirely new Oracle Id.

    (f) overall, testing Oracle ID. remains the unique identifier under which all tests are taken.

None of these identifiers must be submitted online.

  • Recovery of oracle servers at the same time

I have two servers oracle which is used by our application in the House.

We have SRM 5.1.1 with vSphere replicator enabled for virtual machines.

So that the application can function during recovery of test, we need to retrieve both oracle servers at a time.

If I run the recovery plan at 5:30 with 15 min RPO, we want that the two upcoming oracle database server as they were

at 05:15. If a server happens as it was at 5:10 and another server happens as it is 05:15, then application

will not work. How configure us it in SRM 5.1.1

VSphere that replication is not taken care of when you set up more than one virtual machine in a group of coherence (consistency multi-VM). VR Planner algorithm runs on each ESX host and plan transfers of all VM replicated residing on this host. The Scheduler uses information from the previous transfers to estimate the time required to transfer the following for each virtual computer and tries to meet the RPO of each of them. Hope this info is useful.

  • Location of the center of Test Oracle in the Canada Toronto

    Hello
I'm in Ontario the Canada, intend to take my exam 1z0-050.
May I know where is the location of the test center in Toronto, Ontario and surrounding area.
This exam can be taken at Oracle University Mississauga (Ontario)?

When I searched on the site of pearson-view, Oracle University is not included here as a test center.

    Hello

the reason why I asked Oracle University, because I did my review OCA 10g Oracle in Oracle University in Indonesia and after that I did my review OCP Oracle 10 g in the other Center of testing Prometric.

But I found that my experience doing review Oracle University is more cheerful, because they can advice me what should I do after that and sales also useful when my certificate has no been released after several months.

However in regular Prometric Test Center, they only test centre and they didn't contact Oracle at all. When I asked if something wrong they gave me a phone number to be contacted by myself. They didn't even know that I had to present a form of completion of the online course after I passed my exam for OCP.

Now I'm in the Canada, I'm not familiar with any Center test here. and now they change VIEW.

    However, thanks for the suggestion

    Thank you

Test Centers offer tests (from many different test centres). It must authenticate you and deliver the test effectively in an environment (hopefully) well. They weren't directly in particular know testing programs, and they are not able to give advice authority on a programme of test in particular, although sometimes they will gain knowledge because the candidates passes through or because othe rother, the training centre could be involved in.

They are set up to do this and can plan usually tests quickly and efficiently.

They should be able to help with adivce on the difficulties if they were able to provide an effective review, but it will ultimately be via a number of pending at Pearson. If there is an incident, unless the test center can solve the problem quickly, it is usually easier to take the number of incident and the WAD with peason SEEN flourishing. The golden rule is to get the case number.

Looking at the comments here and from his personal experience, Pearson VIEW will usually ultimately solve most of the problems relatively reasonably for supervised tests. (If something is not so for me nothing is reasonable).

Oracle University is usually not particularly well suited to General tests because it connects resources and that they would probably not be able to achieve economies of scale, but they might find useful if they expect a large batch of candidates at the same time, or perhaps that if there was no other suitable nearby centre (it is now less likely).

Similarly, a company in England was often outsources answering specialists so that they can get with it core business without distractions and give their own manpower food posioning etc. ; Oracle allows Pearson VIEW offer reviews of specalist. He performed efficiently in this way for several test programs.

However, Peason seen only at exams, it is oracle who receive these results review and the beams in the certifications. Pearson view and testing centers really only know by individua exams, they have no need find out about certifications at all.

HOEP it erase the kinda thing.

Put the CD in restarted with F12, selected CD player, follow the instructions on the screen, he went through unpacking process... but once completed and handed over to market get you the Toshiba welcome screen then it seems that it will start, but it blocks just with a white screen... nothing not even a cursor flashing.

I tried this process now 6 times and I'm starting to pull my hair!

    Anyone got any ideas?

    > The hard disk does not appear still to be spinning?
Well, it looks like a disc is defective.
The blinking cursor is a typical sign of a malfunction of the HARD drive.
I think that you need to replace the HARD drive and should reinstall the OS once more

    Good luck

I had to stop it again using the button / stop and it happened about 5 - 10 times, after that I decided to do a full restore using the restore disc. as I was doing that the process is not complete because it crashes when I do this. • Replaces program files AFTER a complete recovery and backup.

I'm a complete insofar as amateur application and computer knowledge are concerned. A few days earlier, fed up with the slow pace of my all-in-one HP with Windows 7, I chose to do a complete factory of this machine reset. I bought a 1 TB external memory unit and proceeded to back up all my photos, music and video files. I have also backed up "Program Files" and "Program Files (X 86)", and other files and applications that I thought were important. I then put the computer into recovery factory mode, using the Option "recovery" provided in my computer, and everything seems to go as planned. When I turned on the computer again, it has known many fluctuations and indications, but apparently crossed his recovery operation, as expected.  Sorry for the long story, I think that any assistance provided by the community would like to know what happened to speak to 'HELP'.

My HP all-in-one computer was apparently made in 2010, and any programs or accessories of the trial were available at that time there were apparently installed during the recovery has been completed. I had accessories and elements of the trial I have does not know or want and put them on the side for now. I've updated (or downloaded again) some elements, but I'm still left with many elements of my 1 TB storage unit. In particular, programs in the Program Files and Program Files (X 86) folders. Can I move or copy the contents of these files in the 'clean' computer program files or should I leave it alone? Photos, music and videos are moved to their respective folders, and that is easy for both.

I know I'll have more questions that I can present to you at this time, but any guidance or help is greatly appreciated.

I would recommend not to return these program files from the storage to the cleaned computer unit.  For the most part, just worry a true "user files" as you mentioned (photos, Documents, etc.).

The reason is that the necessary program files have been already regenerated themselves on the computer cleaned up, and in general these are not transferable in any case.

  • When the VIEW additional sites will become available for testing Oracle?

I have to drive 30-80 miles away to find a place to take an oracle certification.

Has he been reflected on the expansion of the VIEW sites because of this migration tests in VIEW of PROMETRIC.

It will become almost impossible to find an open slot.

NB: I agree with the above response to Matthew.  I'll add a couple of my thoughts for what it's worth.

Pearson VIEW have a FAQ about this here:

    http://pearsonvue.com/Microsoft/ms_pvue_transition_faqs.PDF

In general, if a major player moves between Prometric to Pearson VIEW then some testing centers can convert from Prometric to Pearson VIEW or some that feed both can move to some workstations based on demand.

I think it's all, or at least in part on security additional Pearson VIEW offers in comparison to the Prometric.  This is a big reason why Oracle spent previously and why pilot possible for microsoft to spend now.  This is certainly the case some test are additional security requirements of Pearson VIEW too much pain and went to Prometric only.  And if they do not attract the required candidate numbers for Pearson VIEW it not worth their offer.  But of course if there are more candidates Pearson VIEW in France via Microsoft there is more motivation for a center to provide Pearson VIEW; but their may be a shift in what is happening until it takes.

If there is not one close to you and you think that their should be a sufficient demand in your area directly contacting Pearson VIEW attempt.  (I'm not such Microsoft have a clone of the "Brandye" never useful supportive on Pearson VIEW if there is a gap in the town of wholesale).  Probably a 30 mile drive is generally acceptable... If it could be 25 min for some and 2.5 hours to others.  Some Aussie and others can talk in terms of hundreds of miles...

If you keep an eye through the first part of the programming of examination, you should be able to get a feel to determine when exams are available in your local test centers and how long you "usually" to book in advance.   There is generally little trouble, but if targeting the end of a Beta of Oracle or committed to one particular to get the review reserved at first just in case there are any other circumstances which could cause a spike in other programs of certification on the test center decides to a blackout temporary for some reason any (some colleges and other companies may have times when they will not offer reviews).

In any case, these are some of my thoughts.

  • Recovery test intervals

I have run tests SRM of stimulus packages on a weekly basis. I also ran a real recovery and failback for additional checks.

I wonder how many times the second type of test must be performed annually, semi-annual etc.

What do you and recommend in terms of test frequency?

A true recovery must be performed for the test when Vcenter/SRM is upgraded or performs sufficient tests?

It's great that you test so frequently. Nice to hear. It really depends on your environment and your needs. When I was a customer and a partner helping customers I find generally that it is once every 6-12 months, if it was really more to keep the company happy, from my point of view, a test of the stimulus package was enough.

A failover/failback would make sense after the upgrade, although it would not necessarily be the entire plan. It could just be done for a subset or test group.

As I said at the beginning, although it really depends on your comfort level and needs of your business.

  • With vSphere 5.5 replication disaster recovery test

I have a few virtual machines in our site of DR using a 24-hour RPO.  We will test by recovering virtual machines remotely, without affecting the production of virtual machines on our local site by selecting the option 'recover with the latest available data.  My question is after the replication can I 'pause' instead of 'stop' the task of replication during this test, so that after our test, I can resume the replication tasks?  This would cause a problem?  I don't want something to happen to the production of virtual machines on the side of the source.

    Hello

Currently Failover Test + Test cleanup function, without having to make a break or stop replication only works in VR, if using MRS. above it.

RV without SRM, after failover, the only possible option is to stop replication. Perform the failover consolidates replica records in the target data warehouses and prepares the virtual machine configuration files.

Yet after the replication is stopped, you can:

-power off the virtual machine on the recovery after done with the test site

-Remove the vCenter site recovery, leaving records in the target VM data stores

-set up replication again and that it points to the existing disks in the warehouses of data target

Although the UI will display 'Initial full sync', really VR calculates checksums and only changed disk blocks are transferred from the protected site.

    Kind regards

    Martin
