A drive mapped on the XP computer to reconnect to a Windows 7 computer

I have a XP Home Edition on a peer-to-peer network computer.  I drives mapped to a new Windows 7 computer, but they are now disconnected and will not remap.  I had disabled the XP computer over the weekend and now I can remap the readers, I need to access.  Any suggestions?

Try to establish basic connectivity...
Start-> Run-> '\\Win7Computer '.
Or you override the network name of your machine Windows 7 for "Win7Computer."

I also find that sometimes, errors in a command prompt window are more descriptive of a problem...  Try to bring up a command window (start-> Run-> "cmd" "") and enter the command:
NET use * \\Win7Computer\sharename
Where you replace your network name of machine Windows 7 for "Win7Computer" and replace it with a "share name" network shared folder name  You can also replace a drive letter (for example "G:" for the *)

  • How can I get Windows 7 Pro 32 bit automatically connect to drives mapped to the startup?

How can I get Windows 7 Pro 32 bit automatically connect to drives mapped to the startup?

    Hello

It should connect as much as the other computers with their car are on the account users are properly configured, security passwords are defined and firewall do not block.

If the system is only yours and there is no need of local network security, enable the guest account on all computers, give them all the permissions and there will be less to worry about connection mapped, but local drive without security.

PS Ce preceding is based on cable connections. If the connections are wireless, it's another story.

Due to the maturity of the wireless adapter and their support through the OS, automatic connection could not occur.

Wireless is great, but most of us try to sneak out of it the uses it was not designed for.

  • Cannot reconnect to the drive mapped with the offline files

We have Vista Business SP2.  We written that makes some of their files on a network share available offline.  They close their machines and take them away and use not connected to the network and then to arrest them.  Back at his office, startup and reconnecting to the network, their network drives appear offline.  Clicking on returning their online status unless they have offline files, then no amount of clicking, fiddling, disconnection and reconnection, or anything else we might think will persuade the reader to come online.  How force us the computer to notice of the network to share?

  • Could not start service windows drivers Foundation-User-Mode Driver Framework on the local computer, error 31: a DVICE attached to the system does not work

When I go to start the Service for Windows drivers Foundation I get the following error message, cannot start service window drivers Foundation-User-Mode Driver Framework on local computer, error 31: a device attached to the system is not functioning

I was not able to find an answer in help

Unless you write your own drivers for XP and using the Windows Driver Foundation Service to help you debug, you can disable the WDF Service.  It will be one less point to start your system and will not not just sitting there working day and night with nothing to do.

On some systems, if WDF is activated, you can begin to see some errors of svchost.exe like this:

Application error: the instruction at "0x7c91b21a" referenced memory at "0x00000010". Memory could not be "written".

The best solution for this problem is: disable the WDF Service.

  • Windows 7 x 64 upgrd dv6500z disconnected network drives allow usb drive mapping to the same drive letter

    Hello

I'm having a problem with the readers of network disconnected allowing for new drive usb to their drive letter mappings. I have my laptop dv6500z home with windows 7 Home premium connected to my router wirelessly with a couple of shares of x 64. Now I turned off, trip and start. All right, the drive letters show as disconnected as they should. Now I plug in a USB key and it corresponds to the drive letter of one of the disconnected actions and not a new, unassigned drive letter. In Explorer, there will still be disconnected action description. Click on it and it accesses all my files on the USB key. In admin tools/disk management, the correct label for the USB key is displayed.

So is it a problem of HP or just a problem of Microsoft with Windows 7?

Woody, I was able to replicate that XP is not a bug but a feature. On my laptop, it originally had vista on the c drive and a recovery on the d drive partion. There are about 1 1/2 years I have upgraded Vista to XP. Then recently updated to Windows 7. kept the 3 OS's so I got triple starting capability. Then at home, I added 3 network shares, while I was using a lot of drive letters. When actions are undone, Windows maps a USB key which has not been connected before system one of the disconnected but readers still show in Explorer, the name of the drive on the part of disconnected. However, if the USB is connected to the system before, Windows appears to map a drive letter that he remembered from before.

In my case, Windows 7 has been installed recently, so there is no remebered for my USB drive letter. I was away from home, so I had a lot of disconnected shares. In addition, now that I got a 3rd OS added to the system, I used a lot of letters from the GET go by car. It's much more likely that I would meet this feature after installing Windows 7.

  • The drive mapped to the directory of Streaming for WSM?

My original WSM server is 6.0 on a virtual computer to Win7.  Streaming directory is on a virtual hard disk in the same VM.

For my next step, I took this virtual hard disk and shared on the network.

I'm testing vWorkspace 7.2 on a Win 2 k 8 R2 VM.  I installed 7.2 WSM very well, but I tried to use the newly shared disk of my WSM original server to have access to the images continuously on the server of 7.2.  I get an error: "Streaming directory is not always accessible. Please check access authorization / availability. »

I tested access the folder via the general browsing through Explorer, power without problem.  My feeling is that WSM might have a problem with the store being on a shared network drive.

Know a solution or give me a hint to make this work?  I try to avoid having to configure a virtual hard disk duplicate on the SAN, which is short on space.

    Thank you!

    Hello Eric,

sharing a picture of system operating between the separate facilities of WSM is not supported. If you could patch the Image on a single system, the other server does not know about it and can run in incalculable stakes.

If the StreamingDir is located on a network share, the WSM Server Services must be running with the privileges of a full user with read/write permissions to the share. I recommend using Service WSM references to that effect.

Planning and design of WSM guide covers this on page 25.

    I hope this helps!

  • Delay when opening the screen 'computer '.

I'm running into a problem with some weird behaviour on a x 64 SP1 Windows 7 Pro system, and I look at the additional troubleshooting suggestions.

Whenever the 'Computer' screen is open, there's 20 to 30 second delay before the list of drives are displayed. I've isolated the problem to the drives mapped to the main user account on the system (the user has about 12 discs, all map to the same Windows Server 2008 storage server (mapping is via a Batch script which is defined as the start of Active Directory for the user script).)

Just to be clear - the readers are already present and card successfully, the issue is just that readers list takes a long time to load when the location of 'Computer' is opened or searched.

Other systems in the same places I've tried with the same drive mappings do not have the same question.

File operations on the server where the drives mapped are comparable between this system and others in the office.

I tried with a different user account; I have the question (when I even card readers).

I tried booting safe with networking (otherwise readers card), and still have the same question.

I completely uninstalled ESET antivirus on the system (and reinstalled after checking that this has not resolved the issue).

I perform analyses to malware on the system and not found anything.

I ran SFC/scannow (found nothing) and also apply the latest tool CheckSUR from October, no difference.

I have disabled and the SMBv2 re-enabled on the client, no difference.

I tried the KB2775511 app (and other regressions KBs later), no difference.

I tried running ProcMon and assessment of results, but I do not see anything standing (without individual duration is more than 3 seconds and nothing else stand)

I forced the Windows search database to reindex and disabled offline files, don't seem to have made a difference.

Any ideas for additional troubleshooting or other help is appreciated!

  • A drive mapped on P to P does not load at startup upward.

My question is similar, but may have a different answer.  I have a peer-to-peer network and my computer plays the main role.  In the morning he gets turned on first so that other computers can charge the player.  Some of my programs require that the mapped drive is the same on all computers like me.  The problem is that when I turn on my computer, it does not read the drive mapped on himself and he listed as disconnected.  I then manually go and plug.  Again, it is annoying more then anything.  Any suggestions?

    Hi Loreman,

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community.

From the descriptions of the question, it seems that mapped drive does not load at startup to the top.

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing. I'll help you fix the problem.

Follow the methods and mark the question below:

    Method 1:

    Disable the antivirus software:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software

Important note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Method 2:

Drive mapped to the network connection may be lost:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/297684

Warning: Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/back-up-the-registry

I hope that the information above helps you.

Your response is very important for us to ensure a proper resolution.

In the future if you fall on any question relating to Windows, please do not hesitate to post your request here on Microsoft Community, we will be more than happy to help you.
