A fundamental problem with timing 1 DO

Hello world

I use a card PCI and Labview 8.5 6229 with XP.

I need to generate every 10 seconds a digital output which is weak for 3 seconds low and high, the rest of the time. I have attached the VI that works very well with my previous values (500 ms and ms 2000). However, I get a weak State for 1 sec, 2 sec or 3 seconds but not permanently 3 dry when I used it with the values 3 s / 10 s.

It works if I use the values 3 seconds / 15 seconds (15 seconds or more).

There must be a problem with my loop, but I don't understant what is the problem, because the outside loop should be expected inside loop to finish before starting a new loop. I don't understand why my time low State is affected by the loop of the outer time...

It is probably a pb of basis for you, but any help would be great,

Kind regards

Marc

It seems too complex. Here's an alternative. I used the delay function since there the error / mistake on connections to enforce data streams. I also changed the type of writing DAQmx since you seem to be writing on one line only.

    Hello

I develop software for measure the position of a device using some quadrature encoders.

What I do uses the FPGA interface to acquire the position, then send usign real number of the meter to a host pc to create a data file. In the RT environment, I create a table with the position and the time that is acquired and using shared variables I send the array to the host PC.

But I have a problem with the sync. The sampling time is unstable, I use a timed loop to control sampling but after some acquisitions, data sampling period begins to increase, as you can see in the image of attachment file. In the attached picture, I used a period of 250us and after some time gets twice and 3 times longer before you clean the table and begin to create a new table, during the period in 250us again. so the problem is that I should get a stable period in 250us instead of these steps in growing period

You use the table of construction to add new data points? I suggest to use the function "Initialize the array" and "replace the array element. It will reduce the time it takes from the table of the construction.

I can't open your code as I have LabVIEW 2010.

  • Problems with timing of analog input PCI-6111

I'm reading the analog input of a PCI-6111, who receives a square signal of 1 KHz with a cycle of 50%.  I put the sampling frequency to 1 MHz and wait until the data points are 1 usec outside.  When I check the signals received, it appears that the duration of each period of the square wave is 1.22ms instead of the expected 1.0 ms.

The following is a snippet of what I tried:

    int NUM_SAMP = 10000;
    DAQmxCreateTask("",&mTaskHandle);

    DAQmxCreateAIVoltageChan (mTaskHandle,

    "(/Dev1/AI0","",DAQmx_Val_Cfg_Default,-10.,10.,DAQmx_Val_Volts,null); "

    DAQmxCfgSampClkTiming(mTaskHandle,"",1000000,DAQmx_Val_Rising,DAQmx_Val_ContSamps,NUM_SAMP);

    DAQmxReadAnalogF64(mTaskHandle,NUM_SAMP,10.0,DAQmx_Val_GroupByScanNumber,mDataBuf,NUM_SAMP,&numRead,);

Can you tell me what I am doing wrong?

    Hello SNL_NB_1167,

A good place to watch code you know works would be the finder of the example.  "" "" Open the finder example and navigate to hardware input & output "DAQmx" analog measures ' tension ' ContAcq - IntClk.prj

Run this code and see if you get the same results.  If so, then we would know that it's a hardware problem and not a problem with the programming.  If you see the correct behavior, then you have code that you can shape your out of.  I hope this helps.

  • problems with timing in a time loop in a structure of the event

    Hello

I'm using labview to control three motors stepper, running the three stages of different translation in different axes (X, Y and Z). Please see the attached VI, focusing on the structure of the event on the RIGHT side.

In the Z axis, I am trying to run the engine for 5 seconds, after clicking on a button. I have attampted to do by adding a sub of elapsed time VI within a while loop, located in the tab 'Mouse before Z down' the structure of the event. A similar "elapsed time while loop" is also included in tab 'Z reverse the mouse down' the structure of the event.

Separately these "elapsed time loops" work very well, BUT when I run a Z direction after another, say 'Z Reverse' and then 'Before Z' then they annoyingly interact. The calendar is gone, with the moment where we add, rather than rebooting.

No idea how I can reset the time elapsed while loops? Or is there another method better do?

    Thank you very much

I experienced a problem with an application. I think I've isolated the problem in the "Timed loop question - Source Code.zip" attached source code. A detailed list of my results are in the attached document "Timed loop detailed question - Results.docx.

Overview - it seems to be closely related to the IO files and the use of "Timed loops" on the OR cRIO-9012

    1. If I activate the e/s in two loops, then two loops crash simultaneously

    2. If I activate only the e/s in a loop, then only this loop crashes

    3. If I activate the e/s in two loops and make a 'While' loop earrings, then it don't crash

    4. If it is wrote nothing in the file I/o, then it don't crash

    5. If the reference to the file is left open instead of opening and closing on each call, so it don't crash

    6. If I try to run it on "My Computer", then it don't crash

    7. If the IO is only activated in a loop and programmed to wait for one second between the file access, then it always crashes

In my real application, any given row is only writing (at least) once a minute, but I couldn't still my application to plant within a period of 24 hours by writing a single error of a single loop once per minute, with a low CPU use. It was the impulse to test the seventh point above.

It seems that the best solution was to open the reference to the file and let it open. I think it is a good practice in general and I'll do the update in the application. This should solve the problem, but it is very difficult to verify this due to the sporadic nature of the question. As such, I'd like to understand what was causing the problem so I can verify that it was fixed. So far, my attempts to create a single, coherent theory able to explain all aspects of this issue have failed.

I just wanted to know at all that there has been a request for corrective action (CAR #214156) has filed for this issue to be fixed in a future release. This seems to be a problem with the VxWorks operating system, we use in real time. We have additional cRIO chassis which have a Pharlap OS where it does not work. For now, you can search for this CAR ID notes to see if this problem has been resolved for publication in the future.

Currently, there are two solutions, we have identified for this problem:

    1. open the file before the loop and close it after. (recommended)
2 perform file i/o in a normal loop and transfer data to a queue.

  • IP in chain - timing problem with Windows 10

    Hello

I was working on a project and noticed something that I wanted to highlight to others and to see if I could get a reasoning as to why this is happening.

I started this about four months ago and recently updated my computer to Windows 10 up-to-date project. I am under Labview 2014 V14.0f1 (32 bit) and had not seen any problems with labview until I activated an error logging code which reports data to a syslogger.

We started noticing that the recorder took much longer than usual to deal with errors and in turn slowed down the whole program.

When we dug in the question, we found the slow down was the INVESTIGATION period to the block of the string that is used to extract the host name. It took about 4.5 seconds to complete. I have run the same code on a windows 7 VM and it run under a 1 ms...

No idea why IP chain is taken almost 4 500 x times more time in Windows 10 vs Windows 7? We have worked around the issue by making a control that can be set from a file configuration of the value, but I wanted others to know and hopefully get an answer to why this is the case.

    Thank you

    Chris

LabVIEW 2014 is not technically compatible with Windows 10.

Compatibility of the versions of Windows with LabVIEW.

Maybe the search time is affected by something that has changed to win 10.

    Two thoughts...

    (1) you may have a problem with audio / music which is not
fully compatible with Movie Maker. The best choice of audio.
music formats would be .wma or .wav.

    (2) the addition of transitions between the photos will reduce the picture
    duration with overlap.

  • Problem with BBUI / Web database / asychronous timing: untreated by BBUI.js query in HTML format

I think I solved most of my problems with getting my data to be used in various functions, etc... but the problem now (which may have been the problem basic all along) is related to the asynchronous nature of the treatment of Web database.

I get my markup returned as a

with all the 'data-bb-type' attributes etc, but based on the statements of 'alert' I sprinkled throughout my code, database results are processed after the 'onscreenready' event is over and "ondomready" began.

I know that if you generate markup for use with BBUI.js, he must enter the screen "" before the screen "" is passed to BBUI.js BBUI can do everything it's the stuff of fantasy for her.

I tried to make sense, but it escapes me. Maybe someone could point me in the right direction for a good tutorial that explains clearly what is happening behind the scenes, and then I guess I'll have to rip my code share and put back... or at least call functions in a different way or from a different location or use the callbacks more liberally (I'm not exactly clear on the use of reminders either).

The approach you describe would be necessary in the sense that an asynchronous call in the onscreenready function will allow this function to progress / probably finish and BBUI continue on treatment until you can completely change the elements with the data returned by the database.

Content, while not ideal, front-loading is a valid route.

The other option, depending on which time of control you're filling, would wait for ondomready and then use the JavaScript APIs for the control (if any) to be completed after the fact. For example, the ImageList controls have JavaScript APIs to refresh their content with an array of elements, once the element has been created / BBUI-means.

I am running Windows XP Professional SP3 with all installed updates, latest hardware drivers, etc.. It is a CLEAN installation on a material brand new, completed a week ago.

When I run MSINFO32. EXE, the summary of the system is the following:

    Page file space: 7.07 GB
    File: E:\pagefile.sys

Right click on 'my computer' and selecting 'Properties' shows exact needs to be visible to a 32 bit OS... 3.24 GB of RAM. So, how MSINFO32. EXE is able to detect all of 8 GB is totally beyond me. But this isn't my problem.

My BIG PROBLEM is the virtual memory. If I open the root of my drive E:\, it shows the swap file to size: 4 096 MB. And that's how it is in 'my computer' > 'Advanced' > 'Performance' > 'Advanced' > 'virtual memory' > 'change'.
    Custom size:
    -Initial size (MB): 4096
    -Maximum size (MB): 4096

    -Currently allocated: 4080 MB

Why is-MSINFO32. EXE, statement my total virtual memory 2 GB and the size of pagefile 7.07 GB? Neither is correct! Can someone explain just what the heck happens here? My research on Google, many other people report the same total/available virtual memory amounts, with wildly different hardware configurations. I changed the size manually and rebooted several times, without result. I had the pagefile, sitting in a 5 GB partition, and then he moved on to another drive with plenty of space and assign "System managed". Divergence still existed.

    The material is as follows:

I changed the speed / "timing" on the RAM to run ~ 666 Mhz @ 9-9-9-24, and the problem persists. As far as I know, he is not actually detrimental to the system; that is, it does not regularly, crash or anything. But the fact that MSINFO32. EXE cannot obtain such a right basis is VERY disturbing for me. There is no state what operating system says it is, then what fundamental problem may arise at some point in the future? Or is already there, hidden and wait a moment when the system load is high until it rears its ugly head and denounces all?
I wonder if I should completely eliminate virtual memory? Or at least reduce the pagefile to 2 GB or close? After all, I can't imagine many running programs as long as 3.24 GB (RAM available for the operating system) is not sufficient to contain all this. I guess only he pourrait happen, however, is why I'm reluctant to totally renounce virtual memory.

Anyway. Responses of all appreciated. Gimme a solutionand I will give my first-born. Or at least the neighbors...

  • Problems with counter on 9411

I am a new user of Labview, so it's a little intimidating. I am using a cDAQ-9188 with several modules but I have problems with one is the 9411 is used to measure the speed off the coast of a torque meter.

I joined the program I put in place. What I want to do is to measure the number of edges on a 3 second interval so that I can divide by the number of pulses/turn * 60 * 1/3 to receive the RPM. However, the number of edges behave linearly as I expected. I measured the speed of the shaft with a light strobe and represented graphically it vs the number of edges. The results are attached to the excel file.

What Miss me? The number of edges should not increase as speed up the tree, or I'm going about this all wrong and is not what I think I am?

    Thanks in advance.

Ahh ok, that make more sense - it seemed like a strange to report a couple measured, way but now I understand that your torque sensor also rpm through this collection of speed option and that's what you ask the subject (I can't see not how pulses/turn the sensor is on the site Web of Honeywell however, do you know offhand?).

The software timing 3 seconds will implement much of the variability in your measure but would not explain the strong negative correlation between the RPM and the speed sensor (we're talking several ms of non-determinisme for a second window 3) output frequency.  Finally, you'll want to solve this problem as well, but it is not your problem right now (as an aside - it would be actually more accurate to measure the frequency of the signal encoder using the 80 MHz as a reference time base and average the result on a second window 3, the general idea is sort explained in manual of 9188 here but I digress).

I think it is more likely that the signal from the speed sensor is a bit noisy (pretty typical of optical encoders) and then transitions the 9411 is picking up multiple edges.  A slower RPM equals longer transitions and therefore more false edges.  It is just a hunch, but that's what I can think of on the top of my head that could be causing what you see (if read number of pulses is higher than what you expect, given the pulses/turn of the sensor through all ranges of RPM that it would support my theory).  If you want to ignore the method of measurement for a second and try to solve the problem of noise (assuming there is one), you can add the following property node to your existing code before you begin the task:

You can start by setting MinPulseWidth to 6.4us (which is one of the built-in clock dividers available for PFI filters on the 9188).  You want the MinPulseWidth be short enough to ensure detection of a legitimate impulse, but long enough to block all wrong edges that occur during transitions.

    Best regards

  • I use an analog input on a PCI-6224 and are having problems with the clock source

I use an analog input on a PCI-6224 and are having problems with the clock source. I'm trying samples of 16 different analog inputs very quickly. I have the sample mode: Timed Single Point material. The rate, that I am running is the maximum (250 kHz (15625Hz per channel)). I left the default clock source and trying to taste several times. The analogue input works for a short time (2-3 seconds) and then everything stops. I'm doing something wrong or is there something I'm missing? Any advice would be great.

That's how you samples using the sample clock clock. If you see a delay then something is wrong with how you track/data visualization.

Single point NI the hardware is for PID control with a real-time operating system.

  • Strange problem with analog simultaneous output / input

I use a card PCI-6221. I have an application which generates 2 waveforms (finished samples) and simultaneously records 4 channels of analog input. I am using the sample clock AO as the sample for the analog clock.

As a test, I plugged in the first AO (AO0) all 4 channel inputs. What happens when I run the vi, it's that the first sample on the first string (AI0) has the value of the last sample that was out on AO0, of the previous generation.

    Example:

    AI0 AI1 AI2 AI3

    -0.369-0,001-0,001-0,001

    -0.001 0.062 0.062 0.062

    0.062 0,124 0,124 0,124

    etc.

I understand that it is a problem with the relative time of update of the AO and sampling of IT.

    He has to go: AI0 read / write AO0 / read AI1 / read AI2 / read AI3.

I use DAQmx Timing (sample clock) to specify the clock AO as the sample for the AI clock. I noticed that this has an advantage of input terminal called assets. Ah, I thought - if I put the active side to neutralize the AI always begins sampling half a clock cycle after the OD has updated. Evil. It makes absolutely no difference. Maybe the AO clock signal is a very short pulse?

Is there a way to specify the order in which updated inputs and outputs analog / sample?

    Hi CDancer,

Change analog output voltage is not instantaneous. It depends on the speed of scanning of the Council with the difference the tension of the previous.

You're right that the AO sample clock is a very short pulse. As far as I remember, it is the order of 50 ns.

Here are two ways to insert a break between the tasks of HAVE and AO:

    • Delay the first conversion of IA (AI0) regarding the sample clock HAVE: use DAQmx calendar > more > converted > sample clock delay > Delay and DelayUnits properties.
    • Delay the sample clock HAVE first with regard to the relaxation of beginning of AI: use the DAQmx > start > more > Delay and DelayUnits properties.
