  This is the same format, I've been using for a long time and never affected by this problem.

  The MP4s are saved on an external 4 TB hard drive if they are imported using the add media to the project.

  This will import the other MP4s without error from the same external hard drive. The file in question plays in media players, I generally use VLC and seems to have no known errors, but importing generic error remains.

  It is also a working file so I don't want to have to re - filming the video that sometimes occur.

  Yours is not the same situation that the original, poster will more.

  In your case, you are probably dealing with a file with a variable rate, something you can fix by converting the file with the brake hand.

  If you want to discuss this further, please start a new thread so that your conversation is not to be confused with Smit.

  There has never been a previous issue with cadence, regardless of film in 30 frames per second or 60 fps +, so don't know why it should even be converted. Never once in the past, been using EPA 9, 11, 12, 14 years old, has a MP4 needing anything else than import.

  Somehow the file is not full (even if he plays well in VLC) and EPA doesn't.

  Have you tried running the file through brake hand?

  At least try to convert at a rate not variable before dismiss you the idea outright.

  I'm currently working on a project with a lot of greenscreen work.

  I do all my AE FORCED with keylight and mattes.

  The editing is done in first with my "raw" images from cameras Sony NEX VG20 as a proxy footage (MTS files).

  When the editing before it is done, I right click on the images in the project area and select replace footage. Now, I select the file AE containing input parameters.

  This is where the problem occurs. normally a get a dialog box asking what computer I want to use, but now I just get the "the importer reported a generic error" error message.

  What I can do, it was working before and now all of a sudden it won't work at all, even in a new file of the first importation of an AE with just a mock-up.

  Any ideas?

  In this case, you may need to export the files on EI, rather than use the DL.
