First reporting a generic error to replace clip AE

Hi guys

I'm currently working on a project with a lot of greenscreen work.

I do all my AE FORCED with keylight and mattes.

The editing is done in first with my "raw" images from cameras Sony NEX VG20 as a proxy footage (MTS files).

When the editing before it is done, I right click on the images in the project area and select replace footage. Now, I select the file AE containing input parameters.

This is where the problem occurs. normally a get a dialog box asking what computer I want to use, but now I just get the "the importer reported a generic error" error message.

What I can do, it was working before and now all of a sudden it won't work at all, even in a new file of the first importation of an AE with just a mock-up.

Any ideas?

In this case, you may need to export the files on EI, rather than use the DL.

Hello! I'm having a problem putting a file first pro in sequels, whenever I right click on the file in the first, he opens AE without file and then first freezes for like 5 min until I get an error message that reads

"Replace with after Composition Effects, the importer reported a generic error"

I see this question was asked several times, but I can't find a solution that works for me.

I guess you probably need more information, I'm not sure, please do not hesitate to ask!

    Thank you!

Your Ae is probably more recent than your PR. run the update.

  • Import of XML in first Pro CC: "generic error".

First off, I've read all the threads related to this problem, but I have a few questions. I'm relatively new to Adobe Premiere (used 7 FCP forever) so I'm still know it, please bear with me.

I got a hard drive from a client who told me that he has digitized all his records in first. (A screenshot is below). When I went to import into CC APP, it says "Importer reporter an generic error."

In the video folder (an another screenshot below), there are dozens of MXF files.  These import fine. Video and audio are good.

    Screen Shot 2013-12-18 at 11.23.29 AM.png

There are 37 files XML and MXF 37 files, it seems that they match perfectly. Should I just ignore these XMLs? Can I use these MXFs instead?

Again, I'm a newbie, so if someone could shed some light on this for me, I'd be happy. Thank you!

In fact, there is nothing wrong here.  These XMLs should not be imported.  They are just files sidecar metadata generated by the provider of the camera, they import as assets by themselves.

What you really want to do is to shoot to the top of the media browser panel to watch these clips & import your selects from the project, rather than use the finder / import files.  Summaries of Media Browser on all the garbage you don't care & you will display just thumbnails of the clips. He's going to represent same split clips as just a big piece of media.

I have and it works fine on my laptop for a few years and just bought a new desktop apple computer and now when I have a project in first, it will not send me to After Effects. I get a "the importer reported a generic error." I really need to get this problem solved as the laptop is not as fast it was, and I'm working on a short film haha.

  • Import of images from Sony F65 'importer reported a generic error.

    Hello

I cannot import images on a Sony F65. I have (what I believe to be) the original card of landfills containing all MXF files.

By dragging or by using the media browser to import these mxf files causes the error: "the importer reported a generic error.

I installed the Plugin on Adobe Sony RAW but still get the error in both CS6 & CC.

    What I tried:

    • To the folder mediacore according to this discussion of the importer: http://forums.Adobe.com/thread/1092038
    • Re-installation of Premiere Pro CC
    • Re-installation of Final Cut Pro Studio (thinking it might be a bad quicktime component)
    • Re-installing Quicktime 7

Everyone knows this? Help would be greately appreciated!

    Thank you

The file must be installed or placed in the following way.

  • importer reported a generic error with .psd files

    Hello

Recently updates to Cs5. I get the "importer reported a generic error" when I try to import a .psd file. I have photoshop CS 2 installed.

When I try to import jpeg, tiff or any other fotmat still I get errors such as "the bitdepth is not supported" and other such errors. I can't import still images. It's really frustrating.

Work is about to export a still of the time line. Open in photoshop and save it as a psd with layers. import the layer I first wanted to import.

any ideas of what could be the cause?

    Welcome to the forum.

There are several considerations with still images:

    They MUST be RGB.

They cannot be indexed or CMYK.

    They cannot be progressive JPEG.

They can be a higher resolution to 8 bits.

PSD have had problems, if a layer (or more) are smaller than the full pixel x pixels of resolution.

They cannot be larger than 4096 x 4096. Prosaic, quality will be better, if we adapt to close the project frame size in PS.

Let's see - to be a little more "they can't be', but I can't think of them now.

All the foregoing apply to one of your images?

If the above does not apply, so please give us details of the problem files.

    Good luck

    Hunt

  • three of my five psd files continues to receive "the importer reported a generic error.

Make sure they are RGB before importing.  That is to say... .not CMYK

  • The importer reported a generic error.

After you install the update of the first CC (20141) yesterday on my MacPro and my MacBook Pro (the two OSX 10.9.5), suddenly first on Mac no longer recognizes the .mov files. He does well on the MacBook Pro, but it's no funny at all to edit with a laptop. It was working fine until the update. I can't go back since I already edited the project with the MacBook Pro...

The message ""the importer reported an error generic. "doesn't help much because I see no idea how to solve this problem. "

Please, anyone having the same problem and know how to solve this problem?

    Thanks for your reply.

    Solution:

Do not use the underscore sign. Somehow PremierePro CC 2014 8.1 does not recognize the card where the files are located in. For example: B-roll 20140828_mov, rename as B - roll 20140828-mov, recreate a link to your files and they pop up again.

I can't explain why this solution is needed on the MacPro (okay, 2009, but run OSX 10.9.5) and not on the new MacBookPro with the same operating system installed.

In any case, I hope I helped some colleagues who work hard in the field.

    Have a great day!

    CS6 on Mac OS 10.8.3

I've seen a few questions posted with the same error message, but none that I found really had the same problem as I do.  I can't be the first to import any media.  Two of my files is offline.  I went to link the media and he gave me the error message I described in the title.  I then tried to import the file separately instead of bind media and always had the same problem.  My next tesst simply had to import a video file at random to see if I could import anything and I'm still here with the same question.

Edit: I have just an audio clip were imported.  Not sure if this reduces whatever it is or not.

Edit 2: Now I can import the video but not those who developed offline.  Offline items worked very well the last time I worked on this project and they play back fine in quicktime format.

All luck files are on an external drive?

Also try to manually delete all the files in the media Cache files so many media Cache files (have no idea where they are on a Mac, check Preferences-> Media) and let PrPro rebuild.

I'm starting my first project of video clip using 13 items first. When I try to add a music file I get the message "the importer reported a generic error." • "Generic error" when importing XML FCP files

When you try to import any XML from Final Cut Pro file, I get the following "Importer reporter an generic error." What this mean and does it perform a work around? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for sending a copy of the FCP XML, Bill. What seems to be stumbling first is that audio mixed types of channels. For example, stereo and mono. I see two workaround solutions:

    • limit audio content in the source project to clips of a channel type.
    • import the FCP XML in a Premiere Pro CS6 project, and then open the project in CS7. Note that, while CS6 managed to import the FCP XML, a dialog box warns against "possible problems during the translation," which are recorded in the minutes (which I stop not to see again, so no idea what these questions are...)

I entered a bug report and your FCP XML in the annex. As always, no promise as to the be/when it will be addressed.

  • Generic error import for MOV files with lower rate

I copied several video files from my iPhone 4s to my laptop (Windows 7) and tried to import them in first 14 elements. Some of them import successfully, some of them will result in a failure of the support add with the message "the importer reported a generic error." Looking for the files causing outages, I noticed they have a rate lower than all other files. The majority are 29 and those who fail are 27 or 28 fps. Is there a way to fix this error or around?

    Thank you!
