A link to a relative path in FLASH CS6

I'm doing a site for a school project.  I'm afraid once I pass the next, someone will move my files and screw up my FLV links.  How can I go on a link of my videos with a relative path for files FLV actually plays?

This url is incorrect.

But assuming that it should be http://www.sitename.com/MoralityPlay/introVideoWithInfographic.flv

and assuming that your html and swf are int http://www.sitename.com/MoralityPlay

the relative path to your video is introVideoWithInfographic.flv

If your html and swf are in the folder root of http://www.sitename.com

the relative path to your video is MoralityPlay/introVideoWithInfographic.flv

I hope someone can help me here.

I use Robohelp 6.0 and output in a CHM (Robohtml) file. I have a file .htm separated with 3 associated files (.flv (flash video), .js and .swf (Controller) or .xml (settings) file). This is our library of training in video format which is embedded in the .htm file. It was made using Camtasia. What I want to do is one of the following:

    1. create a relative link in the file .chm for the .htm file that is outside of the project.

    2. everything in the baggage files and run it from inside the .chm file.

    My results were as follows:

    1. no matter what I try, I can't seem to access the .htm since the release of Robohelp file using a relative link. I made sure that all the files are in one directory where the chm file, so I don't know the paths are correct. It's as if Robohelp can only create links to absolute paths? Is this really the case? In addition, I don't have the files to include in the project. I just need to access the .htm file relatively. The coding is in the .htm file to play movies.

    2. any investment in the baggage files lets me run the htm file, but the .flv and .swf files are not displayed in the html window. No matter how I cut it, I can't get these video files to load. As a side note, I can integrate files .swf in Robohelp without a hitch, but this training library has several videos and a table of contents and others and is 250 MB as a .swf file. But as a .flv file, it is only 25 MB. So of course, I prefer to use the .flv file.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi, Rob.

Microsoft's HTML Help documentation includes a script for exactly that. See:

  • link with the relative path includes the root folder

I hope someone can help me. When I convert a Word to PDF file with a path relative to another document, a reason any Acrobat includes the directory root with the path if the link does not work. Even when I try and change the link using Acrobat Pro and save the document, the system adds the default root directory. What is happening with this?

    example:

Directory with the file/subdirectory with file/sup under directory with the file / / my document.pfs

    site to register:

    C: / / my documents /.

Directory with the file/subdirectory with file/sup under directory with the file / / my document.pfs

solved my problem. I removed the links in the word document and then created in Acrobat. It worked.

  • Links-relative path?

I created a PDF file for presentation to a client.

There are other PDFs to be accessible during the presentation at certain points.  I put the 'Link To A File' links to the right places in the main PDF file and stressed these secondary PDF.

I've included with the main PDF file PDF secondary.  Everything is in a single folder with no subdirectory.

So when I send my client, the file zipped with all PDF files, why is that when my client is by clicking on the links in the main PDF file it is looking for these secondary PDF on MY hard drive!

I hunted a solution for using relative paths, but Acrobat is emphasizing the ABSOLUTE use, and what he asks me gene huge with my client because I can't make it work for him.

    See you soon

The path is not absolute, even if it looks like that. You can easily test and see for yourself. Move the file to another folder, and you will see that the path of the link changes with it.

The problem is probably caused by viewing the file on an iPad. The file system on mobile devices is quite different from 'normal' computers, so I'm not surprised that the links to other files work. In addition, it depends a lot on what app is used, but I think that in this case, it would not matter much.

  • Link to files via the relative path?

It seems that Captivate is only able to connect to external files via absolute links. In other words, when I create a click box that opens a file and select a file that is located on my development machine, the project will always look this file on my hard drive, even once it is posted on the Web. It's extremely frustrating, and I have not found a work around.

Please help me identify a way to bind using a relative path. In other words, the project will solve it is the current residence and search for content in the directory, it lies in or specified directories under this location. It is the only way that you can create a project that can run successfully during the validation. Captivate already done this, when you create a click box that opens another project, so there MUST be a way to do when opening project files!

    Help, please!

    Thank you
    Dan Roberts

You, Mr President, is a scholar and a gentleman!

According to the agreements that you have described, I was able to create workable links. This should be widely published, I'm sure that many other authors is on the same problem.

Note to Adobe: the ability to create relative links should be inside the product option, as in most of the other products I've used.

  • Relative paths for links

How can I configure the AI CC document-relative paths? For example, if I have a folder like structure

    .../Project/actual-AI-files

    you get...

Can I use relative instead paths?

    Thank you

    Unfortunately you can not do.

  • Urgent: how to create a shortcut with a relative path?

I put a set of files and folders nested on a server on a network location.  (Use of office machines Vista; I don't know that the server is running.  The files are a text file and two Office 2007 files).  Users will copy this set-up files on their computer (there is a program of VBA macro in a Word document, they need).  They need tomorrow (Friday) and the shortcut path gives me fits!

    The hierarchy looks like:

    MainDir
    File.txt
    SubDir1
    Shortcut to the Word file
    SubDir2
    Word file
    Excel file

I don't think even the paths associated with the shortcut until I looked a little deeper.  Because I put all the files and folders together on my computer, when I did a drag - move in the folder on the server, the target properties and start in the shortcut always pointed at my computer!  So now, I'm afraid that a user copy this on their machine will have a shortcut that points to ~ my ~ computer, instead of the file on their computer.

I deleted the shortcut located on the server and creates a new one from the Word file in the directory on the server.  Better - I think - but it still points to the location of the server.  And it is even more likely that, when the user opens the shortcut, it will try to open the file on the server, vice the file on their computer.

How can I create a shortcut to this Word file that will pick up the relative path from around where to reside?  I can just click > properties and change the target and start in paths?  Or do I need a VBScript or VBA?

I have to get this done fast!  A kick - in the right direction is greatly appreciated.

    Ed

    Hi Ed,

It is not possible to create a shortcut with a relative path.

You can try the following allows to bypass and check if it helps:

Create a shortcut to cmd.exe running the start command to open the current directory. Then set the MDC in the

    The shortcut properties.

    a. make a new shortcut to: cmd.exe /c start.

    b. now right-click on it and get the properties of the shortcut (shortcut tab).

    c. the shortened full path must have been set to this:

    %windir%\system32\CMD.exe /c start.

    d. set the directory of "start in" (i.e. DLG) to be a relative path:

(Example for a shortcut on the desktop)

    ...\SendTo

    e. click on "change icon...". "and set" look for icons in this file: "to: %SystemRoot%\system32\SHELL32.dll and press ENTER.

Standard folder icon will probably be in the lower right.

    f. now you can copy this file and simply change the "start in:" to make new related shortcuts directory.

NOTE: The above steps are just an example, so try this at your own risk. And check if it works.

You can also read the following article and check:

  • Relative path of Windows shortcut file

    Hello

I have the complete file of PDFs (hundreds of them) and I need them zip. I need also make a shortcut of one of these pdf files in this zip and rename it, so it is recognizable among others. But when I do a shortcut, zip of PDFs with the shortcut and delete the original files - inside the zip link stops working.

I have a question if I can have this shortcut in the relative path, so it is not dependent on the original data, and if it can work inside this zip (as well as inside the folder) any absolute path is.

Can someone help me? Is it still possible?

    Thank you very much

Nobody has never reported a method to create shortcuts on Windows.  A lot of people seems to have attempted; If you are looking for relative shortcut in this forum you will see other threads on the subject.

  • Relative path does not work in Captivate 9

    Hello

I use the relative path (docs/document.pdf) to open documents of reference such as the PDF files in a new window in my captivate projects and they always worked until I upgraded to 9 Captivate. The path doesn't work anymore and opens a web browser window by default instead. Not sure if I'm missing something. The "docs" folder to call the PDF document found in the published folders (see image below). I appreciate all the advice.

    relative path structure.png

Well, it's been 4 days and I did not receive a response. I contacted support and they gave me the following instructions, in the case if you are interested:

In order to link the document, select the action "Open url or file" and in the path, just put the name of the document [0.pdf]. Make sure that the document is in the published folder. So the lesson learned, keep documents directly in the published folder, all the subfolders [docs/document.pdf].

  • Changes of relative path to absolute path when creating a child of the model

    Hello

I found very useful model Dreamweaver features and was doing well until I created a child by selecting the Site template and the template file in the new Document dialog box to discover the following problem:

In the template file, a path appears as follows:

    "" < link rel = "stylesheet" type = "text/css" href = ".. /.. / common/css/all.css">

However, in the case of the child, the same path has changed to the following:

    "< link rel ="stylesheet"type =" text/css" href="file:///D|/xampp/htdocs/xyz.com/common/css/all.css ">

I want to retain the same relative path in the child's file. Please advise me how it can be maintained.

    Thanks as always,

    EAD

In the template file, a path appears as follows:

    " href =".. /.. / common/css/all.css '> '.

It is not possible for a link appears like this in your model. This is because the template MUST be in the templates folder, which is at the root of the site. A single deep folder level, it is only possible to go UP one level to look for any other file/folder in the site. But your link says to go up TWO levels! Something wrong here. Is your template in the Templates folder? Is - this folder at the root of the site?

Furthermore, Ben's response is quite accurate. Given that DW does not know when your page of the child should be registered, it cannot create the link until it is saved.

  • Relative paths for assets with several users of Muse

I have created a shared folder in Dropbox that allows different people with responsibility for editing my site, each with a licensed copy of Muse, to access the files of Muse. All the assets required for the sitting next site or in a subdirectory under the main file of the Muse.

But because the literal path for the dropbox folder (or any other shared folder, I guess) contains his username, and because the link point to the shared folder can be arranged differently on their machine (some people mount dropbox in 'Documents', others also), the literal path to the file to Muse is distinguished by the user.  I guess this is true even on the same computer with different users.

As a result of these literal paths differ, at the opening of the Muse site, even when all assets required by the site are in the same folder or subfolder as master of muse, each user is asked to re-edit the link active whenever they open it after someone else has and can of the moment of their side.

There is no way to have Muse look relative paths instead of the railways literal to avoid this?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to watch right now the relative paths instead of literal. It's a good request well and I'll take it to the top with the development team!

Muse auto-liens all assets after the first warning of dialogue, however, correct? And out of curiosity, how this multi-user workflow going for you?

  • Using relative path to file/ftp adapter

    Hi all

How to have a relative path for the file / ftp adapter operation in/out?

Example: Consider $ORA_HOME = / home/oracle-> this environment variable can be different on different machines
I want to drop a file in $ORA_HOME/Folder1/Folder2 (or query to a file).

    < partnerLinkBinding name = "FTP" >
    < property name = "wsdlLocation" > FTP.wsdl < / property >
    < property name = 'out_dir' type = "LogicalDirectory" >what I write here? < / property >
    < property name = "retryInterval" > 60 < / property >
    < / partnerLinkBinding >

If I can't configure this in the section "links" partner or agent link activation, otherwise, how to achieve this?
    I use version 10.1.3. *.

    Thanks in advance.
    Roshan.

You can achieve by using the deployment scripts if the directory evolves based on the environment
If you want to change running you can use the properties of jca to set using the variables during execution.

    Kind regards

  • Captivate 2 - relative paths

I have built several simulations, Captivate 2 and only just discovered that my links to external files are not related.

I created links with buttons. I fixed them to open a URL or file on success. I then went through to the files I want to link to. The files are PDF files and html files that launch the other captivate published files.

I saw that an absolute path has been inserted, but I hoped (in vain) that it could be converted into a relative when published path as long as I kept the same folder structure for my source and published files.

Is it possible to implement a relative path in Captivate 2?

    Thank you.

    Grace D

    Hi Grace

In General, the best way to create and ensure a relative path is to simply type the name of the file that you are linking. Never use a browse button to navigate to a file. By manually typing the name of the file, there is no way for Captivate know the way. Thus, it creates and maintains a relative path.

I hate to keep asking this question... but someone came up with a viable solution for the opening of another project in Captivate 4 using a relative path? I don't quite understand why Adobe has taken this feature of this version... like he did the almost useless product for me.
