Hello

·        The program is present on your system?

·        Have you tried the steps mentioned by me in my previous post?

·        You have the beta version of Microsoft Security Essentials installed on the system?

If you have the beta version of Microsoft Security essentials on the system, then, I suggest you to install the full version of the program from the link below.

Note: Before installing the full version of the security update, I you suggest to uninstall the beta version and then install the full version of the program.

How can I put the Microsoft Security Essentials icon back on the bottom of my computer? The icon disappeared. Several times the "speaker" icon disappears also. I look at previous posts and solutions, but I do not see the guests that are mentioned. Thank you.

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

Sometimes the icon simply does not appear due to a start along with many other process resources and the part of MSE to load the icon to not load damage. If you can open MSE and it signals that all is good, it's probably what happened. Sometimes rebooting resolves it.

If you do not use a login ID and password for Windows, this can happen more frequently, especially on an old PC, but even a new. Windows Journal and journal of back and sometimes the icon will appear for you.

You can be better to ask here - http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/protect/forum/mse in the region of MSE.

If you post here, please post error messages or event log error reports about this, if there are.

Meanwhile check for malware on the PC which may be trying to stop the MSE by download, installation, update (by right clicking on its icon and 'run as administrator' then go to the update tab) and scan with malwarebytesfree.

  • Microsoft Security Center icon in the toolbar State but deleted program. How to remove it?

I use a HP Pavilion a1510n, XP Home Edition, Media Center Version 2002 Sv Pk 3 AMD 64 Oricessir 869 MB of RAM.  Recently loaded Skype and Explorer 8.

I removed my Microsoft of their Security Center security bases a couple of weeks and installed Malwarebytes' Anti Malware 1.51.2.1300.

I had reinstalled Microsoft security essentials and when the program began to run, there were two icons in the status bar... a 'protected' with indicator showing green and others a red shield with a white "x" inside... I was never able to remove this red shield of the plateau.

I looked everywhere I know, research, program files Windows, etc, but I can't find anywhere on the computer where every bit of this program are still installed. I now use only Malwarebytes... I understand it should only run an anti-virus/malware both program.

If anyone can help me get this icon off my tray it will be appreciated... Thank you all...

In the run box, type: msconfig and click OK. On the Startup tab, go to:  msseces and uncheck the box. Under the Services tab scrolling in the: Microsoft Antimalware Service and uncheck the box. Click on apply, click OK. Restart your computer.

When the computer reboots, put a checkmark in the box not to get the popup again.

If these two lack the startup and control services: Control Panel, administrative tools, Services. Scroll up to: Microsoft Antimalware Service double click it and change the type of boot to disabled, click OK.

If there is no entry in the Services or the icon does not go far, follow these steps.

In the run box, type: regedit and navigate to:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER
    \SOFTWARE
    \Microsoft
    \Windows
    \CurrentVersion
    \Explorer
    \TrayNotify

Click on the Board to notify and right-click on icon stream and click on delete. Restart your computer.

Don't worry all other status bar icons are coming back.

  • Microsoft Security Essentials icon, absent from the taskbar after restarting Windows XP

original title: lack of Windows XP icons after restart

After that I restarted my antivirus, Microsoft Security Essentials icon is missing from the taskbar. It also happened when I have ESET NOD32 installed. When I disable the SSDP Discovery Service, in the section of the Admin, it will appear. But when I go back and set it to automatic, it will still be absent.

For all that is you probably not need to have running SSDP Discovery Service, for security reasons almost always disable this service on any system that I put in place.

Was online is about to download the 2007 office program, I clicked on something somewhere on the page, and then several windows started popping up everywhere. I couldn't close them so I closed my computer by pressing the power button.

When I logged on my desktop icons and the start menu task bar disappeared.  I couldn't go online. Many of my programs were disabled including Microsoft Security databases. I tried to uninstall my spy ware protection, it wouldn't let me.

I pushed the ctrl + alt + del, in Task Manager, I followed the instructions suggested due to an error, new task, sailed on explorer.exe, right click, renamed explorer1 (.exe).  I got my icons back, but still could not get online. When I restarted my computer, the icons disappeared again. I followed the previous steps, except that I replaced the Explorer with web address: http://www.google, co.za that grew up a blank web page, I have typed C: / / top of the page and continued after the rest of the multi step instructions. Where'd I get my old PC after that the call to close and log back were the same thing. No icons, no start menu, the taskbar, no internet access.

Hi, I recently got a virus (XP total Security 2011) it seems who performed almost all of my programs, not race, my favorites and desktop icons disappear. I managed via the taskbar options click on the hidden folders option and now they are visible again, but transparent.  If I click on mp3s and Itunes works but practically nothing else.

Ive checked some forums and tried regedit, but that is not responding.

I managed to open internet explore without Add ons however if that helps

    Many thanks richard

    Hello RichardBraz,

You must remove the virus from your computer before we continue to fix the problems with the desktop icons and programs.

I suggest you try a run the Scanner in safe mode of Microsoft. To access Safe Mode:
    (a) restart your computer and start pressing F8 on your keyboard. On a computer that is configured to start to multiple operating systems, you can press the F8 key when the Boot Menu appears.
    (b) select an option when the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, and press ENTER.
You will want to choose "Safe Mode with networking" If you need to connect to the internet or your network.
    (c) when the boot menu appears again, and the words "Safe Mode" appear in blue at the bottom, select the installation that you want to start, and then press ENTER.

    I hope this helps.

  • Microsoft Security Essentials re: Avanquest registry Utilities Professional

In February 2010, I installed registry Utilities Professional of Avanquest ("ORS").  I used it every week since that time without difficulty.

In June 2010, I installed Microsoft Security Essentials ("MMS") and in the initial round, the only recommendation was uninstall PRU which I agreed to.

He did uninstall the desktop icon that I previously used to manually run the ORS; However, in programs and features, the outermost Regions and a "Compatibility Patch" ORS are still reported.

    Issues related to the:

    1. Why does want MSE uninstall ORS?
    2. Are there known issues with RUP?
    3. If RUP is a registry self cleaner, how I now access and reinstall the desktop icon?

My OS is Windows Vista Edition Home Premium, version 6.0.6002.2.2.0.768.3

    This is * not * a legitimate registry cleaner, because there isn't * n *.
    legitimate registry cleaners.

Registry cleaning programs are * all * snake oil. Cleaning of the
registration is not necessary and is dangerous. Let alone register and
do not use any registry cleaner. Despite what many people think, and
What software record cleaning suppliers are trying to convince you,
have unused registry entries is not really make you hurt.

The risk of a serious problem caused by a registry cleaner by mistake
delete an entry you need is much greater than any potential benefit
    It can have.

Let me stress that neither me nor anyone else who warns the
use of registry cleaners never said that they always cause
problems. If they have always caused problems, they would disappear from
the market almost immediately. Many people have used a registry
cleaner and never had a problem with it.

The problem with a registry cleaner is that it carries with it
important * risk * to have a problem. And since there is no
benefits of using a registry cleaner, running that risk is a very bad
    good deal.

    Hi eredjake,

    1. did you of recent changes on the computer?

2 when was the last time it was working fine?

    3. do you have security software installed on the computer?

Make sure that the Windows defender service is running on the computer.

Set the Windows Defender service on Automatic rather than Manualor disabled . To do this, follow these steps:

    a. click onstart toreduce this includes this image, type services in the Start Search box, and then click Services in the list of programs . Collapse this includes this image

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click continue.

    b. double-click the Windows Defender service and then in the Startup type box, click Automatic.

    c. click OK.

If you cannot start the Windows defender service, then I would suggest that temporary you disable the security software installed on the computer and try to start the service, check if it helps.

    Disable the anti-virus software

  • Start icon disappears from the taskbar. Command prompt concludes that he cannot fix corrupted files.

My power icon disappeared from my taskbar after a reboot. Following the advice of the Forum I turned on command prompt and asked the sfc/scannow.

After a long search, I received notification that there were a few corrupted files and not all could be fixed. This had occurred previously in 2012.

After a security alert, security, I downloaded the program named Emet. After reading more below in the Microsoft forum, I found the comments which Emet

may damage files. I decided to uninstall Emet. When I finished that I discovered that the Emet icon has disappeared from the taskbar along

with the battery icons and a few other icons. I took my Asus laptop at Best Buy and the tech there called a Microsoft service don't. and

has got instructions to restore the missing icons using the appropriate record. It was in summer 2012. When I stopped my laptop Sunday, December 21, 13

and then reopened Tuesday, December 23, 13 I found that, once more, my power icon had disappeared from the notification area. The correspondent

subprogrammes in the control panel for the management of the icons in the notification area were inoperative for the icon of power and a few others. This

was the exact situation I had in 2012, about 16 months ago.

After failing to solve the problem with the command prompt, I thought I would ask for help. For the moment, I managed without going through the power icon

presented at the center of mobility in the office and after having pinned the control panel to the taskbar on the right.

    Hi Ronald,.

When you first start a new computer, the operating system typically runs Startup service initializations that can take anywhere from one to six hours to finish, depending on which applications are preloaded on the computer. Make sure that you give the operating system sufficient time to finish these Startup service initializations until you stop or restart the computer. This problem generally not happen once the operating system has completed initialization of all before background services is restarted.

I suggest you refer to the following article which has a few registry tweaks to solve the problem. Please follow the steps and check out them.

System icons do not appear in the notification area in Windows Vista or Windows 7, you must restart the computer

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/945011/en-us

Note: this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. • E520 stock Windows 7 and Microsoft Security Essentials.

We recently got a new E520 Edge to one of our teachers, had met with an interesting question.

When you install Microsoft Security Essentials, on reboot, the Microsoft Antimalware Service goes from automatic to manual and the service is stopped.

Before you start saying "Infected" do not forget that this system is straight out of the box and had not been on the internet for something else to install MSE. I also restored to the factory settings and tried again with the same results.

A process that is to recreate it:

    (1) restoration of the system to the original image. (first attempt was out of the box)

    (2) strengthened with the Standard Windows 7 OOBE.

    (3) after the Windows 7 OOBE, a Lenovo window appears asking to activate Norton Internet Security 2012

    (4) does not have activate Norton as Norton will disappear. Norton is still installed.

    (5) do not install Office.

    (5) at this point, the desktop appears. So I uninstall Norton Internet Security 2012 and rebooted. (on the first attempt, I used the last Norton Removal Tool)

    (6) upon reboot, connected to the internet, installed Microsoft Security Essentials, upgrade to the latest defs and restarted.

Restart on 7), started Services.msc and looked at Microsoft Antimalware Service. It is started and set to automatic.

    (8) 30 seconds later. Service is set to manual. The service is stopped. MSE has a red icon.

    (9) subsequent reboots will not start MSE automatically. It must be started manually. Put back the service to automatic will be cancelled manually on a restart.

It must be something new added to the Lenovo images, because old E520 images had a different window of Lenovo who install Norton after asking the user, and MSE works very well on them, and I'm half tempted to wipe the hard drive and install that version on this laptop because I have restore media , but before I do, someone has a idea what installed app or rest Norton kills MSE program?

    He solved.

Made a ton of tests on the laptop and followed the Lenovo RapidBoot problem. Looked for an update, and of course, there is an update that corrects a but in Lenovo RapidBoot affecting the Microsoft Antimalware service manual. Given that the system update does not seem to have the update available, here is the link to get the latest version.

IM totally new to computers in this age/era.  should I install all updates and recommendations and why?  And I use microsoft security databases to protect my computer.  is that enough?  If not what else?

    Hello

Yes, you need to install all the applicable updates such as those that will enhance the functionality of the
computer and also help to ensure his safety.

    =============================

MSE is an excellent antivirus/antispyware software.

Here's what I use and recommend:

Avast and Prevx proved extremely reliable and compatible with all I have
launched on them. Microsoft Security Essentials and Prevx have also proven to be very
reliable and compatible. Use MSE or Avast and Prevx, Prevx 3 but not all.

Avast Home free - stop any shields is not necessary except leaving Standard, Web, and
    Operation of the network.

    Prevx - Home - free

    Windows Firewall

Windows Defender (is not necessary if you use MSE)

    Protected IE - mode

IE 8 - SmartScreen filter WE (IE 7 phishing filter)

I also IE always start with asset if filter InPrivate IE 8.
(It may temporarily turn off with the little icon to the left of the + bottom
    right of IE)

Two versions of Avast are available 5.x and 4.8 x - use only and no if using MSE.

Avast - home - free - 5.x stop shields you do not use (except files, Web, network, &)
Shields of behavior) - double click on the icon in the Notification area - real time Orange - click on the
Shield that you want to stop - STOP. To stop the Orange icon to show an error indicator-
Click on the Orange icon - top right - settings - click on the status bar - uncheck shields you
    disabled - click OK
    http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download

Avast 4.8 x - home - free - stop shields, you don't need except leaving Standard, Web,.
and the network running. (Double-click the blue icon - look OK. - upper left - Shields details
    Finish those you don't use).
    http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download#TAB4

Or use Microsoft Security Essentials - free
    http://www.Microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/

Prevx works well alongside MSE or Avast

Prevx - home - free small, fast, exceptional protection CLOUD, working with other security
programs. It is a single scanner, VERY EFFICIENT, if it finds something come back here
or use Google to see how to remove.
    http://www.prevx.com/   <-->
    http://info.prevx.com/downloadcsi.asp  <-->

    PCmag - Prevx - Editor's choice
    http://www.PCMag.com/Article2/0, 2817,2346862,00.asp

Also get Malwarebytes - free - use as scanner only. If you ever think malware and that
would be unusual with Avast and occasional Prevx running with the exception of a low level cookie
(not much), to UPDATE and then run it as a scanner. I have a lot of scanners and they
never find anything of note that I started to use this configuration.

    I hope this helps.
