A second purpose of HDMI Port

I have a Dell XP 8700. I use the stream video card HDMI port on my TV. There is a second HDMI port (from the motherboard?). What is the purpose of this port?

Thank you

This is the video port that you would use to get an HDMI output, if you don't have a video card.

You can use this built-in HDMI port to support a second monitor HDMI, if necessary, if your plug-in software component video card does support both HDMI screens at the same time.

To use any of the embedded video ports, you will need to go into the BIOS Setup (reboot and press F2) and enable the Multi-screen Intel option that lights up ports on board.

Notes:

  • When you have a video card, at least a monitor must be connected to the card before connect you a second monitor to one of the embedded video ports. Otherwise, you will get an error message.
  • Several snap video cards are supported multiple monitors at once, so you need to perhaps never activate the embedded video ports.

  • HDMI port on avillon

is the computer must be turned on to charge my ipod via beside the CD tray regular hdmi port? He can't seem to it when computer off. Thanks for any response.

    Hello

All you can't use the HDMI port to load anything, it just won't work, does not. Secondly, SOME laptops (not all laptops) have a combination of USB port with power and allows you to charge your iPhone without the need to turn on laptop computers. Now, the question is what is your avillon ? HP has hundreds of models or products belonging to the family of Pavilion. Pleae follow the instructions below to see:

    Kind regards.

  • Documentation of Omni 27-1010t of HDMI port

I can't find any documentation to the HDMI port on my 27-1010t Omni.  She's taken input HDMI or HDMI-out?  Can I use it to connect a second monitor?  And what are the other 4 buttons near this port for (on the right side, under the DVD drive)?  They seem to be disabled.

    Here are the specifications and factory configurable options for your desktop HP Omni 27-1010t CTO. According to the specification, this model has an option to add a "input jack scalar HDMI card for Game Console." Please, Chapter 3, page 6, "Implementation of additional features", 'Using the controls (some models only) HDMI port' of the "quick Seup Guide" for your computer, which States;

"The right side of your computer may contain a (input only) HDMI-in port and volume control buttons. The volume controls, unless a device is plugged into the HDMI port, have no functionality. HDMI input controls are intended only to control parameters of the device plugged into this port and control all other media on the system devices.

To use the controls in the HDMI-in port, plug a device into the HDMI port. Press the menu button (top button of the currently displayed page). A new on-screen menu is displayed. Using the + /-button, select brightness, contrast, volume, or color balance.

When a device is plugged into the port HDMI, the volume on the computer is cut off. By pressing the buttons on the side + panel does not change the volume on the computer. »

This HMDI port can only be used as input with devices like video players, game consoles, etc. To connect an external display (for example a second monitor or HDTV) will require the use of a video-to-USB adapter, such as the eVGA UV plus + UV39 or one of the other many cards on the market.

  • HDMI port stops when stowing E7450 processor and controller

I have recently received a new E7450 processor and controller to replace an E7440. My E7440 worked perfectly in my PROX3 docking station. I have three monitors (right now, just try with two until the issue is resolved). Again, my E7440 works PERFECTLY with all three connected monitors. I connect two of them to the back of the docking station (VGA/DVI). The third is connected directly to the laptop's HDMI port. I used this configuration during the previous several years and two laptops from Dell.

Now that I've updated for E7450 processor and controller, HDMI port ceases to push graphics as soon as the laptop is connected. Two other monitors work fine. Here is what I tried:

    1. I disconnected the other two monitors (ensuring that this isn't a problem with the graphics card does not support three monitors).

    2. I then plugged into the HDMI Jack on the laptop - nothing

    3. I seconded the portable - PHOTO! YAY!

    4. I have connected the laptop - photo gone, boo!

    5. Rinse and repeat in many different ways.

ALSO, in which case it is suggested, I have already updated all drivers (BIOS, chipset, GPU, etc.).

Conclusion, the laptop docking station seems to just close the HDMI port. How can I get that laptop to the HDMI port to continue working moored?

    * UPDATE *.

I unplugged the other monitors of the docking station and the connected HDMI monitor started working. I reconnected it then either the docking station monitors and monitor HDMI immediately lost the connection again. For some reason, this laptop is not allow both HDMI and VGA or DVI to work simultaneously.

Never found a solution to the problem with HDMI works not as any other view is hung. That being said, I've found a workaround. I hope this helps others.

Rephrase the question more clearly - I have an E6420 E7440 and a processors E7450 and controller. I installed Windows 7 Professional on all three laptops. Each laptop has all the updates applied and latest windows drivers. The E6420 and the E7440 both work with a connection HDMI, VGA and DVI (HDMI on the laptop itself, VGA/DVI on the docking station). E7450 processor and controller, although it has the same exact port as the E7440 design, does NOT allow for the HDMI port to work as any other display (VGA, DVI or DP) port is connected.

Fortunately, the E7450 processor and controller has a mini DP to this topic. I bought an adapter mini DP to HDMI and connected my third monitor to the card and the mini DP port on the laptop. Now, all three monitors are working once more.

Now Interestingly if I connect the mini DP to my E7440, it does NOT work while the other monitors are connected. So for the E7440, can I use the HDMI connection, but NOT the DP connection. Just the opposite with the processors E7450 and controller.

  • Connectivity: Sony Vaio Win 8/64 OS HDMI port to the Panasonic PT - LBI VGA projector

    Hai,

I have Sony Vaio Win 8/64 bit OS laptop with an HDMI port. I bought a HDMI cable / VGA and tried to connect it to my Panasonic PT_LB1 projector which has only VGA slots. When I'm logged in, I don't see my laptop screen on my projector. What could be the problem? Is this a compatibility with windows 8 or the resolution of my projector or what? Do I need to install any special drivers or software written for projector PT - LB1. Can not know. Kindly help me to a solution to this.

    Thanks in advance,

  • On Latitude E6250 HDMI port has never worked

    Hello,

I've got a Latitude E6520, and I haven't been able to use my HDMI port. Here's what I've tried:

    1. Pushing Fn+F8 or Windows key+P incessably to change displays and test all possible modes.2. Updated the Intel HD driver to the latest recommended version by Dell - that is 9.17.10.2867.3. Open display properties and click Detect and Identify. This creates a second display (aside from the embedded screen), showing as device "Display output device" (maybe not an accurate translation - my windows copy is in French). When clicking this, and then checking the creating display in the Intel HD panel, I realize this is Intel WiDi - not the intended HDMI port.

My HDMI cable is working; it has been tested successfully in other devices. My BIOS version is A13.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

    Juan

I got it. In case anyone has the same problem, I had to install the NVIDIA Control Panel since the support downloads for my Latitude E6250. I don't understand why I needed this, as my graphics chip is Intel HD 3000, and I do not know what NVIDIA has to do with it. But this solved my problem.

And Dell has to watch "community contributors" with unnecessary remarks on cables at low price or brand of monitor. They are less useless.

  • HDMI port defective by design?

Same problem here - I want to (Oh, man I need) to be able to use my HDMI port to make presentations on an external monitor.

I recently converted to the technosystem to Apple after being forced by the former employer to abandon in favor of Windows Apple more than 20 years ago.  I like how the iOS works (for the most part) and this terminal is for access to tools based on unix, but for something as simple as a faulty HDMI port - by office? -not what I expected to get my new Macbook Pro.  Laptop my wife 4 + years Windows has an HDMI port that works very well. But my new Macbook Pro?  Nada

This is not only annoying, but also effects me professionally. I need to be able to use some external displays of various flavours to present my services to potential customers.

Come on Apple, you can do better than that!

    (1) not talking about apple, it is a form of voluntary

    (2) iOS for smart devices, OS X for laptops, desktops, iMacs, Mini

    (3) you need a lightning to HDMI converter

  • New iMac using a HDMI port

I am looking to buy a new computer (preferably an iMac) and I want to connect to my apple TV up to it, but I can't understand what iMac Apple TV supports HDMI ports and those who did not. Please help me to find the most recent iMac that has a HDMI port taking supported the Apple TV. Thank you.

None of the new iMacs have HDMI ports, Thunderbolt ports, which can be converted into HDMI using an adapter. However, there is really nothing you can do by connecting an Apple TV to a Mac via HDMI.

Apple TV video outputs, and the ports on the Mac are also outputs, not inputs.

What exactly do you think that you can accomplish by doing that?

  • How can I get multi channel audio via the HDMI port on an early 2015 MacBook Pro?

I try to get the 7.1 audio channels to flow from my MacBook Pro to a cinema set up. The display works fine now I plug the HDMI in however the sound still Mac speakers. I checked the settings and no HDMI output is available. An airtime option is available, but that returns only two channels as a maximum to the receiver. When I go to the configuration of the source on the receiver it receives video at 1080 p 60herts however it is specifically stated No Audio from the Source.

Also, I have connected my iPhone 6 s more using an Apple through the same HDMI cable adapter and it works perfectly. We also use HDMI with our PS4 occasionally and it works perfectly, even with the 3D.

Thus, the MacBook Pro is early 2015 with an i5, the receiver is a Harmon Kardon AVR 2700 (we run 7.1 channels of this) and we are connecting via the HDMI port through a 50 ft HDMI before. The receiver sends the audio to a projector with 1080 p 60 hertz if it changes anything...

Also if it helps the receiver supports dts - hd master audio decoding, Dolby True HD/Digital Plus decoding, HDMI 1.4 (HDMI is compatible 2.0), as well as multi-channel input and PCM and linear PCM.

    I use a "Behringer UCA202' audio device I bought on amazon.com for only $29.

It works very well for the audio 5.1 or 7.2. Works connect optical toslink. Just plug it into a usb port on your Mac and a cable optical toslink to your AV receiver.

My Yahmaha 7.2 audio/video receiver is measuring process the digital signal in THX, DTS, Dolby digital Pro logic, a cinema, etc.

  • Pavilion dv7t-4000 laptop: AMD HDMI port on the computer laptop dv7 is lost after free trial Win10 returns to Win7 Home Premium edition

My laptop was purchased in sept 2010 and runs Win7 Home Premium Edition (64-bit).

It worked perfectly until June 2016, when the trial version free odious Win10 forced itself on my laptop.  I had no choice, I used Win10 for a day or 2 and then discovered that:

    (1) I lost the audio capability, HDMI port, I use to connect to my TV, and

    (2) the Win10 trial enabled me to return on Win7, I did without delay.

In my Win 7 restored, everything was fine, except when I have her go in Control Panel to configure / reconfigure HDMI as the default, I couldn't - the element used to appear as "AMD HDMI Audio" is no longer displayed.  I remember a message during the free trial period Win10 that says it has disabled any material incompatible.  Without a doubt, Win10 free trial 'killed' this HDMI/device port, at least audio-wise.

Today, I always run the same Win7, but I can't have audio HDMI on this port.  When I connect to my TV, the video works.  Win7 Device Manager it shows with an exclamation in yellow, and when I right click to get more details, there is a message saying Microsoft:

Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might be installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or maybe it's a malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52).

Is there a way to 'get it '?  'this' is AMD HDMI audio.  (and wthout spoil the graphics - that is, video)

I tried to install the drivers provided by AMD [graphics] and that did not work. The Internet from AMD website says that the audio drivers are included in the package for graphics drivers.  There is also a huge confusion in the way these low level items are named/described: ATI and AMD, because they have merged, were used somewhat interchangeably.  I also tried the graphics drivers AMD HP Support Web site specific to my laptop and it has only gotten worse.

Thank you for your kind attention.

    Hi @ RTX,

Awesome response. I read the details and depth of your post. I understand that the bios is updated. So you could end up with this update.

Happens to the other updates. This will be the order.

    1. Uninstalling the driver Chipset and resettlement.

2 reinstalling and uninstalling graphics drivers

    3. uninstall the sound drivers and reinstall.

Before uninstalling, you can try to update the drivers supplied by device also Manager and if that market that will be great. Please, do it only if you don't have already done.

Before uninstalling please make sure that you capture an image of the complete Device Manager window. Take some pictures of your cell phone. Please note the exact device for audio and video chipset drivers. Then, you will need to uninstall it from the Device Manager and install from the support site in the above order so that there is no confusion.

If nothing works as a last resort, you may need to restore complete system to factory settings. Please backup your files before doing so. This is possible since the recovery of your computer's hard drive partition.
