abandonment of iTunes

Hello, I notice many dropouts during playback of music in iTunes v12.4.3.1 on iMac 2009 OS 10.11.5. I have already disabled the preferences/advanced/part box in the iTunes library XML. I am considering buying an Airplay speaker, but what's the point when there is abandonment of music? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

You hear playback stops by abandonment, or continues to play but not sound like its been cut? How are you listening. You use any headphones or speakers or on the iMac's built-in speakers?

• iTunes could not connect to the iPhone "iPhone", because an invalid response was received from the device.

So I am a new iphone 7. I had a 6 before that. Everything was fine until the day where I got the 7, I decided to try a manual on itunes for my 6 backup so that I could put this on the new phone. I use now icloud backup but before that he always did on my computer. Its itunes version 12.2.2.25 as it is the most recent, that I can run with 10.7.5 which is the newest my mac pro can work without hacking it. Again, never had a problem before it save and use it to transfer music. Anyway, I received the message "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone"iPhone"because an invalid response was received from the device." I tried 3 different usb cords. I tried both ports to the front of the computer and all 3 in the back. Abandoned and did a backup icloud. Installed on the new phone. Everything transferred except my music library which is real download of my CD via itunes. If something was wrong on the iphone 6, surely the new phone that starts with a clean slate will be very well... wrong. Same message. Leaves through ports, cables, etc. Is it just a simple matter of ios 10 now works with my version of itunes?

A new phone will be iOS10. iOS10 requires iTunes 12.5.1 find which demands in turn 10.9.5 OSX or newer. Software update checks only the updates to the current version of the system that you are running but that itself can be updated. It may or may not be possible to upgrade your computer to the system requirements. Find your computer on the web site of http://www.everymac.com model and near the bottom of the specification of the system section, he will tell what versions of the operating system, it is able to run. If you can not run a newer system, you will not be able to sync this phone to your current computer. OSX 10.9 and 10.10 are no longer available. You can try to install the free El Capitan OSX 10.11. El Capitan can run slower on older machines and require the additional purchase of RAM (4 GB is a minimum realistic and many recommend 8 GB). Making a big jump in versions of system is also more likely to affect the old software.

• remove all apps in itunes

Hello

I tried all the suggested solutions here and on the support page

My next thought is to remove the apps I have on my ipad in itunes apps fully up to date can therefore be transferred to itunes? We hope to solve the problem.

I was also wondering as they take so much space on my small HD if I remove all applications and download them to the cloud, if I ever need it in the future?

Please notify

Since the introduction of Apple App clarified in iOS 9.2, there is really no reason to keep copies of the app in iTunes. You can delete all the. Here are my longer explanation of the thinning App.

------

With iOS 9.2 you are more able to move applications from one device to iTunes. Apple now uses a system called thinning App. With her, when you download or update an application on a device, only the resources needed for that specific device are downloaded. What makes downloading faster and significantly smaller. But it also means that this exact version is useless to any other device, so there are transferred to iTunes. If you want it in iTunes, you need to download directly from the App Store (or set this is done automatically). Personally, I stopped to keep copies of the apps in iTunes - no reason wasting disk space. I can always re-download them from the store. The only exception is an old, but stil work app that is abandoned by its developer.

• Why my ipad loses the wifi connection when I abandon my modem wireless of Qwest

Why my ipad loses the wifi connection when I abandon my modem wireless of Qwest

WiFi connections are losing their strength increases the distance between the router and so as a general rule, there are some conflicting objects

Try the following steps please

The following actions and after each test to see if the issue is resolved - if yes, then you can omit the following steps - I tried to list them in ascending order of the effort at least on a Mac and / or an iDevice

1. Check if the problem is related to a single device and if other devices connect normally-
2. If the answer 1 is 'yes' - try to connect the device assigned to somewhere else if possible - coffee or the University
3. Perform a forced - restart cela do not delete or purge all data and allows to solve many problems - here is how - press and hold the Off / On Home button and at the same time for about 15-20 seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Allow normal startup upward.
4. Settings - WiFi - < network name > - Click on forget network - do a restart forced according to 3 and then add again the network
5. If home - reboot the router by unplugging it for 60 seconds (power) and the plug and reconnect - obviously, this step can be done in a public place like a cafe or airport or University. While you're there - make sure your router is working on the latest firmware (check manufacturer's website)
6. Settings - general - reset - Reset network settings - remember to have very practical WiFi passwords because it erases the WiFi passwords
7. If it is a new specific net device in your home - make sure that the router gives enough DNS for all numbers which must / wants a connection - stuff like the printer, Chromecast get overlooked - ask for more details on this so not sure option
8. Backup the device to iTunes - restore as NEW (no) - see if solves problem - if yes - restore backup
9. An appointment of 'Genius' to an Apple Store, or select another authorized service provider.
• When going to the next iTunes update?

Screw the "how to write a good question", I'll be explicit enough here.

I have an iPhone with the latest firmware 6. I have an iPod nano 7th generation with the last update of the firmware. I also have iTunes version 12.3.3.17.

I've been using apple and iTunes for my music and it works well. The biggest advantage of the apple ecosystem is its General ease of use (at the expense of the power user who wishes to have more granularity and control more changes, but I digress).

Long story short, before I updated to iTunes 12.3.3.17, I could sync my iPhone 6 and my iPod nano 7th generation very well. After update iTunes 12.3.3.17, it will recognize that I'm trying to connect my iPod nano 7th generation, but you will encounter an error. iTunes 12.3.3.17 does not yet take into account that I connect any type of device when I try to connect my iPhone 6.

I tried the following:

(1) I checked the cable. I tried 2 usb cables of lightning. The two cables are fine. Connect to iTunes still does not work

(2) I tried all ports on my laptop. My USB ports are fine. Still doesn't connect to iTunes.

(3) I tried to uninstall and reinstall iTunes. Still doesn't connect to iTunes.

(4) I tried to roll back to an older version. I encounter an error of the library where the old version of iTunes cannot read the new version of iTunes library.

No, restoring an older version of iTunes and follow the measures to ensure that the library is read isn't a real solution, it's a work around until the next update.

I'm not willing to mess around with the files, potentially lose my library and the money I've invested there.

I like iTunes because it is the online library of wide, I know where I can buy the music. I'm not in the trend of premium internet radio, where people subscribe to get full access to a huge library of songs. I am a young old school (going on 24 years) who prefers physically possess (or in the case of apple, license) copies of music that I like. I get many premium internet providers allowing you to download songs for offline listening, but it's only for as long you pay their subscription.

Apple is currently working for me because I have a "safe" online to buy and download songs, as well as synchronize with my devices in a simple and direct way. However, I am fiercely musical, and I know and understand the other side of the economy of music where people are downloading freeware music software to manage their libraries and/or download music from sites such as BandCamp and SoundCloud (in some cases, legally and for free).

I ask because I want to know when I can expect the next real solution to this problem. This isn't some minor, the issue of 'oh, we have abandoned in favor of this product'. Right now, I am unable to manage my Apple ecosystem because of this blunder. And I searched through the forums and the "solutions" that have been given have been workarounds for this problem.

When can I expect the next version of iTunes to spread and apple knows about this question and to devote resources to solve? This isn't a race of the issue of the factory, is a huge blunder, and I read support wires that date back to when the first version was released in March. We will get a solution soon? or will we have to wait for the next stable release?

In response to the question in your subject line, only Apple knows when they will release the next version of iTunes. Until they announce, nobody here can answer your question.

Good luck.

• iTunes has lost a lot of podcasts - suggestions

I'm guilty of being a crook podcast - but I never know what I'll have to dig in the next time I'm stuck in the House in a snowstorm. I have a large external drive with plenty of space, the space is not the issue.

It has happened, and it happened again. After an update to iTunes (12.3.3.17), I think that all my podcast subscriptions are intact, but lists of podcasts in some of them are much shorter than them. Further examination, I see that there are many more files in the directory .../iTunes/Podcasts on the counter at the bottom of the iTunes screen. And if I look deeper into the subdirectories I see almost all podcast files, they seem to have been abandoned off the coast of the iTunes index.

Any suggestions?

I think seriously to give up iTunes and go to another podcast application. I gave the Apple podcast app on my iPhone and I am very happy with overcast sky, but it is iPhone only. Besides I have different sets of podcasts between iPhone and MacBook is not as important to me as it is to other synchronization between the two.

• Vista > iTunes Windows 7 and migration

Hello, first time poster. I had an older iPad where I got my music on a laptop running Vista. More recently, I got a new iPad 2 air. I still had my music on the laptop for a while. However, in the last two months, this capability was broken. The version of iTunes on the laptop is 12.1.27. I can use this version of iTunes to manage the music on the laptop of course, but when I plug the new iPad 2 Air it says "the iPad is unusable because it requires a newer version of iTunes. «On itunes and download» I'll download it and the link specifically says that I get iTunes 12.3.3 for Windows XP and Vista. So it should be good. However, when I install it says "iTunes requires that your computer is running Windows 7 or newer.

I also don't seem to be able to migrate this iTunes on my Windows 7 (12.3.2.35) desktop configuration. On the Windows 7 Desktop, I certainly can't change the song information and perform basic tasks. Also, I can't seem to even add music to iPad 2 air, but I don't know because I can't sort the music for iPad on the iTunes for Windows 7. The iTunes on my desktop Windows 7 also has other music files detected, it lacks most of the music on my laptop. Of course, I don't want to spend weeks to make some kind of manual cross-checking one by one all of the databases involved and trying to get my computer to look just like the laptop. There must be some kind of clever way to migrate here. In particular why iTunes 12.3.3 for Windows XP and Vista would give such a message of error? I am on iOS 9.3.1. Thanks in advance.

Update from Apple system is broken in that it offers 12.3.3 as valid version on Windows XP and Vista. Support for Windows Vista (and XP) was abandoned when Apple iTunes 12.2 released last year. The latest (and certainly last) version in support of Vista is 12.1.3.6 - this is an out-of-sequence of September 2015 version that adds support for iOS devices 9, but has no music to Apple and other features added in iTunes, 12.2 and 12.3. Links for installers:

The last of them is actually (as well as all editions of '64-bit' iTunes before 12.1.2) 32-bit application with a 64-bit Installer - this should be used if you get a warning message about the incompatibility of the video card and can also send questions with bad audio playback, integration with 3rd party software and the overall stability of iTunes. However, f you only need to migrate the library from Vista to Windows 7, you do not need to update the software on the laptop.

To transfer your library of the Vista desktop from Win7 laptop, you must copy the complete library from the first to the last. To do this with iTunes does not not on a system. If you follow default iTunes, source on the laptop folder is C:\Users\username\My Music\iTunes - according to the size, you can copy it to a network using a USB key, or a disc hard external., this folder and all its contents should be copied in C:\Users\username\My Music\iTunes on the desktop (you can also access it as C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes). If you have not added new media to the desktop, you can simply replace all content existing there. Then launch iTunes on the desktop and you should find your entire library restored for you. Because this method transfers the iTunes as well as your media database, it has the added benefit that your iDevices will see this as 'the same' library, so you will have no problems with the content being removed from the iDevice when you synchronize.

Once everything is copied, and you have verified the results, and if you don't plan to use the laptop Vista with iTunes again, make sure that remove you your Apple ID on this machine.

The following links provide more information:

• How to move your iTunes library to a new computer - Apple Support - it's the 'official' documentation of the migration process
• Make a library of portable split - steps that may be needed to bring the library on your laptop in the layout that makes it easy to migrate (applies only if you have media files outside of the standard folders iTunes Media or other changes made to the default functions of iTunes)
• Backup your iTunes for Windows with SyncToy library - medium recommended for the copy of your library to/from an external drive with a tool. s more reliable that the standard copy of Windows works (particularly relevant if you have a large library). The same method can be used to create and maintain a backup of your iTunes library - something you should do frequently.
• Problem updating iPhone with iTunes

Connected an iPhone 4s to iTunes (12.1.3.6) upgrade to iOS 9.2.1. Apparently iTunes does not check for available disk space on the PC before starting an update. The size of the download took me (and my PC) by surprise - 1.5 gigabytes. After a very long wait for download, my system disk (c :)) became practically abandoned lots and iTunes iPhone upgrade stage complaining about insufficient disk space to perform the update (after download).)

Also, Windows became unstable due to the almost full C: drive. So I manually moved the file to update to 1.5 GB on another drive, and an additional cleaning left me with 3 GB free on C:.

Return to the update of the iPhone. I assumed that it would be a way to point to the file moved to complete the update iTunes, but I found no way to do it. All I seem to be able to do is to repeat the full download that, for many reasons, I want to avoid.

So can anyone tell how to upgrade the iPhone using the already downloaded update file?

Pouvez be able to adapt the technique given here to redirect the path to the file to update for your location.

• iTunes cannot be opened while it is being updated

I use an iMac and upgraded to El Capitan version 10.11.1 a month ago. Now when I select iTunes I get a box that says "iTunes cannot be opened while it is being updated" (and your only option is to press OK). This message is constant and never changed. I tried a week ago, abandoned and now have tried several times throughout the day. Same thing all day. I had a similar problem with the photo after the upgrade and it just started working unexpectedly several weeks after the update.

Any suggestions?

Thank you!

Good morning funcourt,

The first thing I would say to you receive the iTunes error message would be to upgrade your OS X to the latest version, which is the OS X 10.11.2.

Download update of OS X El Capitan 10.11.2 Combo

Another common troubleshooting step would be to start your computer in Mode safe

OS X El Capitan: start in safe mode

Start in safe mode can help you diagnose problems you're having with your Mac.

Important: To print these instructions, click the Share button in the Help window, and then choose print.

1. Choose the Apple menu > shut down.

2. After your Mac stops, wait 10 seconds, then press the power button.

3. As soon as you hear the startup tone, hold down the SHIFT key.

You must press the SHIFT key as soon as possible once you hear the startup tone, but not before.

4. Release the SHIFT key when you see the gray Apple logo and progress indicator.

To exit safe mode, restart your Mac, but no press during the startup.

If these two steps do not resolve your issue, try to create a new account to isolate if the problem is with your user account or if it is the scale of the system.

How to test a question in another account on your Mac.

How to test with another user account

You can find out if unexpected behavior is related to the user file or a parameter in trying to reproduce the problem to a different user account. This process includes creating a new user account, connect to it and test for the issue.

Create a test user account

1. In the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
2. Click the users and groups in the System Preferences window.
3. Click the lock icon and enter an administrator name and password.
4. Click on the button Add (+) below the list of users.
5. Choose a type of user in the new pop-up menu.
6. Give the user a name and first name, account name, and password.
7. Click OK.
8. Close the System Preferences window.

If there are documents from your user account that you want to test with original, place a copy of these items in the shared folder in the users folder. Press the Option key while dragging a file in this folder to create a copy.

Connect to the test user account

Log out of your current user account by choosing logout in the Apple menu, and then open a session the new account that you created. If you are prompted to login with your iCloud or Apple ID account when you log in, skip this step.

Try to reproduce the problem

Try the same steps that caused the unexpected behavior to appear. For example, if you are unable to print, try printing from this user account. If you were unable to connect to the Internet, try to navigate on a website of this user account.

If you use specific test settings depends on (for example using a specific e-mail account or an account iCloud) implemented the same test user account. For email and other parameters, you can use the Internet accounts pane in system preferences to set up these types of accounts. If your home folder files are necessary for tests, copy them into the shared folder in the users folder (/ Users/Shared). After you connect as a user test, copy these items to the same location in the test user home folder to test with.

If a problem occurs in account only one user

Is using the same steps in a user account test does not cause the same unexpected behavior, most likely you don't need to reinstall applications or OS X.

• If a problem occurs only in a single application, check the documentation or Web site for instructions on troubleshooting specific preferences or the definition of the application files.
• If you need help with a problem or a specific alert message, search the Apple support Web site for the text of the alert message you see.

If a problem occurs in more than one user account

If the same unexpected behavior occurs in more than one user account on your Mac, try checking for software or hardware problems.

Once you have finished

When you are finished testing, disconnect from the test account by choosing logout in the Apple menu. Then, connect to your original user account.

You can Remove the account to test user created when you are finished. Make sure you're completely finished stable, and you don't need the files or settings you have created or copied there until you delete it.

Get help

If you need assistance with a problem software or hardware, Please contact Apple technical support. If you are working with a consultant, engineering or service provider to resolve a problem, remember to mention all the steps you have already tried and the results. Also mention the alert messages that you saw in the context of the question. You can take a screenshot of all the messages that appear to refer to it later.

• How to have 2 versions of iTunes? Should I update?

I have several Mac I use for the production of the show / audio - I prefer 10 v interface and the latest versions of vs and this is what I have installed on Snow Leopard, I prefer to allow the use of old audio software more stably. Question is, since apple made iTunes the means of transfer of audio data on or off of an iphone, I have to run the latest version of iTunes to do any seized of, say, a simple ringtone for example - on my iphone running ios 9.1. So I don't want to upgrade iTunes to 12, so what can I do to have a version of iTunes 12 co exist on a machine that can also run iTunes 10... ? What I have to sacrifice just version 10 on one machine just devote a copy of iTunes 12 to interact with my iphone. No doubt this means that I also have to launch at least v 10.8.5 on this machine in order to run itunes 12... It seems tedious and cumbersome to say the least. If I like an older version of something, why should I give up? It is absurd that I have to go at this point to put a stupid ringtone on my phone. Rant, just to search for the path of least resistance to achieve. The only way I found so far is to force an upgrade of a machine JUST to run the latest version of iTunes - because they have made obligatory to be able to synchronize any iPhone with a mac, period. Or am I missing something? Thanks for all the ideas,

Mike

We have to abandon the 'old', because unlike the ricer in your great-grandmother of 1902, which can always be used to crush the potatoes today, digital technology is much more complex. The elements are replaced by something new every 6 months and does not interface with the former because of the very different capabilities. It is simply the way of the 21st century. Either that or do what I do which is not buying an iPhone, or iPod or iPad, or use new software, be patient with very slow web page rendering and continue to use a computer for 14 years with iTunes 7.5 which is solid as a rock. Convince everyone not to jump on new technologies so fast and maybe the world electronics companies will change their habits. Good luck.

Only one version of iTunes can run on a computer at a time. Since you're using iOS9, you are in a bind if you use iTunes to synchronize because it requires iTunes 12.3 +. I guess you could learn how to use your iPhone way more limited without iTunes. With the advent of the game, the music of Apple and iTunes Store purchase download again (if you buy your stuff from them) traditional synchronization is not as critical.

A library opened by a newer version of iTunes can no longer be opened by an earlier version so even if you can run two iTunes you should have two libraries (you can share multimedia files however).

Perhaps you could implement something fancy such as running a virtualized version of Snow Leopard server in an environment of Mountain Lion +. I think you might be able to run a separate version of iTunes like this. Either that or configure a system dual boot where you start at one or the other (a little annoying) if necessary. Or buying a second computer (I have 2, one with the OS Tiger and the other I'm going to put up with the Mavericks + Snow Leopard server).
