Absolute addressing related vs

I used Captivate project and created successfully from the pages of menu with buttons to access existing projects. It works beautifully. (Using Captivate Menu Builder has been a disaster, but that's another story).

When I copied all the files on a disc and took the project of the disk, only the first page worked. Whenever I used a button of call/jump to another file, he could not locate the file. The error message listed on full filename of the location of the original file, the letter of the hard drive and all. He wasn't even trying to get the disk.

I tried to use a link to a project rather than a file, but who had the same problem.

Can someone tell me how to get the button to access a relative address instead of the absolute?

Thanks a bunch

Normally, everything you do is point on the project. You're then left with a relative link. Note that ultimately, you will need to place the two output that you create as well as the project that you have access to in the same folder, but I've never seen fail in this way.

Some people pushing confused about the binding in this way and don't understand how Captivate can know what he is supposed to link to, because in the end, you are pointing to the. CP file for the project that you are linking. But Captivate has resolved it for me. Exactly HOW it works, it's still a mystery. I'm just happy that it works.

  • Change all links to the site from absolute to relative

So I'll try to make an individual link to absolute to relative, however, it is an image file to a favicon. When I change all the links of the site normally makes the link on the page all the "images/favicon.ico', but this does not work for pages not on the root of the site. So, how can I do this correctly?

    I use DW CS4.

I don't know what you're asking.  But by this root favicon of the site link, you should be fine in all pages.

  • Addressing relative to WebHelp (9 or 10)

I have a space on our Web site that is a repository for a number of pdf files. I would like to be able to open these files from the links within distinct WebHelp projects.

I can do this by using an absolute reference to the location of the files from within the projects but I would prefer to use relative addressing

    A simplified structure is

    www.mysite.com/pdf for pdf files repository

    and

www.mysite.com/project for the location of a project file.

If I use a link of the project containing an absolute reference of the form www.mysite.com/pdf/file.pdf that works properly

If I try to specify the link as... / pdf/file.pdf, it will not work and ended up as www.mysite.com/project/pdf/file.pdf.

I'm using the wrong syntax, or if this is just not supported?

    Thank you

    Hi David

You said earlier that if you used... / PDF/file.pdf, he could not and ends up as www.mysite.com/project/pdf/file.pdf.

Have you tried to use... /... /PDF/file.PDF? Given your situation and what you see, it's what I would try.

  • Is it possible to change link paths from absolute to relative?

My company uses Dropbox to synchronize all our design files between all the computers in the designer. Currently our Illustrator files are too large (500 + MB) because we incorporate images. We must maximize save/download time and the space occupied by these files, if we put in place a folder structure that allows us to make a link to the images that we will store them in a folder.

Our structure of folder for the related files: CUSTOMER/PROJECT of NAME NAME/Version/assets/Linked Files/linkedFile.png

Our folder structure for the Illustrator comps: CUSTOMER NAME/PROJECT NAME/Version/Designs/Platform/Device/uiComp.ai

Unfortunately, Illustrator seems to refer to absolute paths for each linked file and each user has a different structure where their Dropbox folder.

    Designer 1 Dropbox path: /jessi/user/Dropbox /

Designer 2 Dropbox path: / Volumes/Dropbox / (he holds on an external drive)

    Designer 3 Dropbox path: / Users/rusty/Dropbox /

For this reason, if another designer opens a file, all the links are broken. If the paths are relative, it would work.

We all use. Adobe Illustrator CC (2014)

Unfortunately you can not change the paths of the link to relative

    Try

  • Is CFFILE read uses only the absolute path or the relative path too?

I use cffile read access to my file to json. I would like to know if the cffile uses only absolute or relative path too? If I tried to use the relative path, it kept send me errors on non-existent file.

Read what I posted on the documentation. CFFILE read must be an absolute path. If you use a path relative to its parent to the CF temp folder:

If not an absolute path (starting with a drive letter and a colon or a slash to advance or back), it is relative to the ColdFusion temporary directory, which is returned by the GetTempDirectory function.

There is no relative path from your web files. IF you just put a relative path, it will attempt in the CWS for the file temp folder.

  • Be confused with the absolute/relative links

I have a simple site and use PHP includes.

I use paths that have the... / in front of them so that they are related.  I understand that I may use a path with just the bar oblique fwd and not two periods at the front, but I don't know why.

My site works ok direct, but not when I use localhost to preview in the browser.

What I'm doing wrong or not seeing?

    Thank you

    Martin

Installs on the Dreamweaver application development forum, which deals with PHP and other things aside server.

You are also confused about the difference between absolute and relative links. An absolute link is a complete link - it contains the full path. Links that start by... / and / are both relative links. The first style is compared to the document. The second is relative to the root of the site.

When you use PHP includes, the path to the include file must be compared to the document or the file must be in the PHP include_path.

When you use links inside of an include file, they should normally be from the root of the site.

Your links do not work locally because the root of the site is localhost. Probably, you develop your site in a subfolder of localhost. Therefore, the links point to a folder above what you want.

The solution is to create a virtual host. Details on the configuration of the virtual hosts in Windows can be found in this tutorial on my website: http://foundationphp.com/tutorials/apache22_vhosts.php.

  • Can layers be RELATIVE, rather than ABSOLUTE position data

I'll have a chance to find an answer to this in the HELP. I have place of the layer anchor in a table, then position the layer. If I then add (or remove) the lines above the anchor, everything on the page go up (or down), but the rest of the layer where it was, to the page, not the anchor.

If there are several layers on the page, it means a wholeot of repositioning every time I do an up-page edition.

    Any advice?

This can help you understand the positioning a little-

There are 4 different types of positioning:
    Absolute
    Relative
    Fixed
    Static

Here is a brief explanation of each type of positioning (as of)
placement of the elements in the page only)...

    Position: absolute (or a / P elements)
    -----------------------
    Does several things-
    1. it "deletes" element of the flow of the code on the page so that
It can influence is no longer the size or position of any element on the page
(with the exception of those it contains, of course).

    2. the item to absolute positioning takes its position as the position of the
his next of KIN * place * element - in the absence of any explicit
positioned parent, it will be by default to theTag, which is always
    positioned
at 0,0 in the browser window.

This means that anywhere in the HTML code of the layer
appears (betweenand), its location on the screen will not
change (which means that you have not positioned the A / P element in)
a table or another A / P element, of course). In addition, the space in
    which
This item would have seemed if it was not positioned is not preserved
on the screen. In other words, the absolute position elements do not
all the space on the page. In fact, they FLOAT on the page.

    Position: relative (or R/P elements)
    ----------------------
In contrast to absolute positioning, is a relatively positioned page element
    * No * withdrawn from circulation of the code of the page, so it will use the
    Spot
where it would have seemed based on its position in the code as its
zero point of reference. If you provide then top, right, bottom or left
    positions
the style for this element, these values will be used as offsets of
    his
    zero point.

This means that it any where in the code position relatively
element appears (, as it will be positioned at this place (it takes into account
the offsets) on the screen (this is true for any location in the code).
Is also the space where this element seemed
preserved on the screen and can therefore affect the implementation of
succeeding elements. This means that the larger a relatively
positioned element is the space more force on the page.

    Position: static
    -------------------
As with the relative position, the static positions also "go with the flow". One
element with a static position cannot have values for compensation (above, right,
on the left, downstairs) or if it has them, they will be ignored. Unless explicitly
positioned, any defect in static positioning div elements.

    Position: fixed
    ------------------
A page with this style element does not scroll when the page scrolls content.
Support for this in the elements other than the settings of the page is weird

There are several other things you need to know:

    1. ANY page can be positioned - paragraphs, images, tables, lists,.
    etc.
    2. the

tag is a BLOCK-level tag. This means that if it is not
place or style explicitly otherwise, a) it will always start on a new
line on the screen and b) she will always force the content to a new line below
He and c) will always be near the top of the entire width of its container (for example,
    Width: 100%).
    3. the placement of A / P elements * can * affect the BEHAVIOR of others
    elements
on the page. For example, a 'sex' placed on a hyperlink that will hide
    hyperlink.

You can see a good example of the difference between the absolute and
    relative positioning here-

    http://www.great-Web-sights.com/g_layersdemo.asp

You can see a good demonstration of why using layers for a page layout tool
    is dangerous here-

    http://www.great-Web-sights.com/g_layer-overlap.asp

On this basis, a static div (is no longer a 'sex') would be what you want.

  • Related XML element for the Address object tags

    Hi all

I'm trying to insert a child object address related, in an account object. I have successfully done a test, but now I can not all data in the field "Address 2" because it says that the item is not defined in the EAI integration.

Someone at - it a complete list of tags for the Address object? I already tried 'Address2', 'Address_2' and 'StreetAddress2', but none of this seems to work.

I also resorted to the use of the service API to get mapping for the Account object and RelatedAddress object. object mapping has just returned to me the shipping and billing address fields while the object of RelatedAddress reported that there was.

I hope someone can help me out here, because trying to find the element tag name is driving me crazy!

    Hello!

In the WSDL of account, you have the ListOfAddress object. If you use it, fill in the field "StreetAddress2" should work...

  • Cannot build the site offline with absolute links

    Hello.

I'm building a site offline before uploading to the server.

At first I just use relative links, so everything is fine. But now that I've changed the absolute links, I can't get a preview of my work because all of the scripts, style sheets, images, etc. are linking to an online address that does not exist yet.

In site manager, I put in my local root folder information, and my http address. It seems to me that Dreamweaver must be able to substitute the local root folder for the http address and thus be able to process the links locally. But this doesn't seem to be the case.

So, how can I work offline but use absolute links in my documents.

    Thank you.

    > I went to absolute links because I have

    > my pages in separate directories and names of

    > these directories may change.

I'm not. If directory names are changing, you must update the links - you were using absolute and relative root site or document relative links. Of course, if you change the name of the directory in DW, it will update all your links for your - unless you use absolute links. DW does not have absolute links.

  • Sansafix - build m3u support to allow absolute paths?

@Sansafix - it would be possible to strengthen the support for m3u to allow absolute paths?  I answered 1 million messages on "why my playlist is empty" and it's always because of the absolute vs relative path problem.  Unfortunately, many popular tools use absolute paths in m3u playlists.  And even more unfortunately, many do not allow relative paths option.  It's particularly frustrating and confusing to users because the absolute paths are valid, it's just that the player is not correctly interpret.

Winamp is an excellent example.  It's a great tool and synchronization capabilities are great, but playlists m3u synchronized always have absolute paths.

It seems that this should be a simple thing to implement and it would solve virtually all the problems user with m3u playlists.  There are chances that this could happen?

Yes, we are working on that.  It will happen early next year.

  • How layer div rather than another without absolute positioning

    Hi again!

Today, I try to shoot a div containing a SWF inside upward while it is organization layered on another div.

Web Site: showcase restoration | Homepage

I don't want to use absolute positioning, because then it goes back only this div and let the rest of the div where they were originally.

Is it possible that I can exclude the function positioning and just make sure the header div can layer a bit on the empty div, packaging, and cursor?

Also, I know there are errors with the website that will catch the scanner, I'll be cleaning up those very soon, it's just a matter, that I would get hit first.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

You cannot superimpose elements without adding a shape any positioning in combination with top, left, bottom or right attributes. The position "in the stack" (overlay) is normally controlled by the position of the element in the HTML itself, later in the code is closer to the top of the card game if you want. Index-Z must be added to change this default layering, but does nothing without positioning relative, absolute or fixed.

You just need to understand the differences between a static, absolute and relative positioning (fixed also exists, but would not be used here) and some of its subtleties, to make this work.

Static positioning is the default when nothing is added to the css. Most of the sites require only never static, as well as the floats, margins and padding to position elements, but because you specifically want an overlap, you will need one of the other three (my guess is on will be the best here).

Absolute positioning is based on the upper-left corner of the nearest of the positioned element relative (relative, absolute or fixed). If there is no positioned parent, use the top left of the browser view port. Using absolute positioning completely removes the element of the natural flow of the page, leaving no space behind him and it will not interact with other elements on the page.

Relative positioning is based on the normal position of the element in the document flow. Adding position: relative to an element, without changing what else, will appear to do nothing. Added up, left, down or right: value of attribute sets will move the element this sum of its normal position AND leave the space behind the element normally takes upwards if there is no positioning added. This will be to use very probably, as long as you are not moving your items over long distances (which would create a vacuum away where the element ends upward.)

Fixed positioning is going to stick an element to something high, low or the adjustment of your use and even few matter how big/small browser view port is or if the page scrolls. You see this most often used with navigation bars "sticky."
