'ACCESS DENIED' family xp cannot open some files on xp pro.

I install a home network between 2 computers, XP Pro and XP Home. The printer (connected to XP Pro) and the initial shared folders in C:\Document and settings\All Users\Shared Documents work, allowing access to both machines. The problem is; When I try to share a folder on drive D: or E: on the XP Pro folder machine can be seen on the XP Home machine but receives the dreaded permission "access denied" error message The same file & content is visible on XP Home, when you drag to the XP Pro 'folder shared documents' on the c: drive. Going the other way from XP Pro XP home, everything works fine.

I check all the problem areas standard, firewall, user accounts and passwords, group name, etc.

I discovered what the problem is. This is the "WINDOWS CRITICAL UPDATE. I created a new installation for xp pro and xp home system loading only Service pack 3 and Internet explorer 7. Everything works perfectly now as it should. I guess I'll have to load the 80 more critical updates one at a time to find out which screw up because the explanations on the updates are generic bs and don't really say what OS networking functionality they reverberate. Thank you once again Microsoft to keeping in the dark.

I had a revelation. I realized that the purpose of the security updates has been to protect the enterprise against internal threats (insert 'employees' here) customers so that requested a decated COMPUTER sharing files and networking to work once the updates have been loaded.

  • Cannot open some files and programs

I have windows 7, some of my files and programs will be open (ie. Recycle Bin, computer, libraries). They are sent to the windows Explorer file in the task bar. I can see what is in the file when I put the cursor over them, but cannot open them. I can close the files once in windows Explorer and when I reduce they seem to come on the screen.  It was not always thus and I don't know how to fix this or why it's happening.

    Thank you.

    Hello

It may be an idea to run the Windows system restore.  If you have Norton Internet Security installed, you should disable Norton Tamper Protection as described in step 2, on the link below.

    http://us.Norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web & docURL = 20091112171719EN & LN = en_US

Once you are done, turn off the PC.  Windows system restore is usaully better run in Mode without failure.  Tap away at f8 that you start the PC to enter the Windows Recovery Console.  Use the arrow keys to select Safe mode and press ENTER.  When it has loaded, on the Start Menu, click principally made programs, accessories, click System Tools and run the system restore.  Choose a restore point at least 3 days prior (or a previous version if available) the problem and then proceed to the restoration.  When you are finished, Windows will restart normally.

  • Cannot open some files

    Hey,.

I can't open some .fla files using Adobe Flash Professional 8.  The sound on my computer is fine, but some (not all) each on other peoples systems don't, I use CoreFTP to access, but some when I display it says "unexpected file format", and the same is true if I try to transfer them to my computer.

    Any help would be great.

Unexpected file format usually means that the files have been created with a newer version of Flash than what you use to open them.

  • Error message - Windows cannot open this file after downloading program

After several days in offline mode, I went online to update Microsoft Security Essentials and click on analysis complete.  It took an hour.  After that, I found that all my programs were virgins, almost of all of the standard microsoft Microsoft Security Essentials is.  I tried to download it again, plus others such as adobe acrobat, but all said "windows cannot open this file".  I asked help from Microsoft but received access denied.  I feel like an illegal immigrant, as all the doors were closed.  What does that mean?  My OS would be illegal?  It is Windows XP and was purchased new in the retail price in 2004 and has only once been out of my hands when I sent it repairs and have 2 GB ram added.  Any ideas?

  • Windows 2k8R2 - receiving error when you connect (MMC cannot open the file: C:\Windows\system32\ServerManager.msc)

Windows 2008 R2 - I just started getting this when I connect, and also when I try to manage the machine:

    MMC cannot open the file:
    C:\Windows\system32\ServerManager.msc
It is perhaps because the file does not exist, is not an MMC console, or was created by a later version of MMC. This may also be because you don't have sufficient access to the file.
It always worked before and work for other users simply not me on this particular area. It is a production company, and I need a quick resolution please. Thanks in advance.

  • Cannot open PDF files on Web sites, or when it is attached to the email!

    Hello
My computer is running Vista and I had this problem for the last 2 years! I can only receive the PDF sent by one of the companies I work for. I can't open most PDF files sent by attachment or all the files on Web sites. I have Adobe 9 and Foxit Reader and it does not work with either. I tried to re - install Adobe and still no luck. With Foxit Reader that I can manage to open the PDF files sent from the company I mentioned earlier, but that's all. I would really appreciate some help... Thank you very much! :) x

Try this: uninstall all the software that you have to display the PDF documents. Then try to open a PDF file. You should receive a message that "Windows cannot open this file". If you get the message that the file is "corrupt" or "not supported" means that you have another program or display of PDF files.
Once you receive a message that "Windows cannot open this file" download and install the latest version of Adobe Reader (9.3).
