  I have windows 7, some of my files and programs will be open (ie. Recycle Bin, computer, libraries). They are sent to the windows Explorer file in the task bar. I can see what is in the file when I put the cursor over them, but cannot open them. I can close the files once in windows Explorer and when I reduce they seem to come on the screen.  It was not always thus and I don't know how to fix this or why it's happening.

  It may be an idea to run the Windows system restore.  If you have Norton Internet Security installed, you should disable Norton Tamper Protection as described in step 2, on the link below.

  Once you are done, turn off the PC.  Windows system restore is usaully better run in Mode without failure.  Tap away at f8 that you start the PC to enter the Windows Recovery Console.  Use the arrow keys to select Safe mode and press ENTER.  When it has loaded, on the Start Menu, click principally made programs, accessories, click System Tools and run the system restore.  Choose a restore point at least 3 days prior (or a previous version if available) the problem and then proceed to the restoration.  When you are finished, Windows will restart normally.

  I could just not open office and surpass all other open files. Has decided to stop updates and install only the most important. I have not installed service pack of office suite 3 as this seemed to be a problem.

  After that, everything worked.  more office updates have been installed and so far all is well. Still, service pack 3 is not installed.

  Unexpected file format usually means that the files have been created with a newer version of Flash than what you use to open them.

  I install a home network between 2 computers, XP Pro and XP Home. The printer (connected to XP Pro) and the initial shared folders in C:\Document and settings\All Users\Shared Documents work, allowing access to both machines. The problem is; When I try to share a folder on drive D: or E: on the XP Pro folder machine can be seen on the XP Home machine but receives the dreaded permission "access denied" error message The same file & content is visible on XP Home, when you drag to the XP Pro 'folder shared documents' on the c: drive.   Problems arise when I deleted some files (don't remember which) I am now myself for kicks. Then I completely restored my system with a restore cd, upgrading to vista, downloaded all the updates and everything else works fine only problem is the opening of .exe files. Can someone please help? I'm no computer wiz only right following the indications :)
