    Hello Nyfixen,

    1. have you changed the permission for the external hard drive or files you are trying to copy?

    2. you have all important data (files) stored on the external hard drive?

    3. are you able to copy the external hard drive to the computer?

The Autorun.inf could not be a problem for that. It always seems to be a problem of permission for me. Some hard drives have a jumper on them for write protection. You should check the configuration of jumpers, thank you consult the manual that came with the hard drive for permissions.

  • Access files stored on an external hard drive

Before you travel, I backed up my computer on an external hard drive.  No, I'm trying to access files that have been backed up from my computer using another computer. What should I do if I only want to choose some files, but do not want to restore all of the files on the other computer...?

The options that I consider "valid" are "restore files".

  • Moving files from lightroom on external hard drive

I read a few post on this topic, but I have not found the answers I'm looking for.

I want to take all the pictures on my computer and put them on an external hard drive.  If I'm in lightroom and connect my external hard drive, if I just move all files to a disc external hard takes them out of my computer?

In addition, I want to do is make a folder for each calendar year and the changes made to the photos.  So, if I save my project and move it over the pictures, this means that any changes I made on these photos will stay with these photos?

To have all my pictures on the computer, if I wanted to reopen a file from my external hard drive through lightroom, they automatically opens with all the changes always made for them?

Point 1: Yes, Lightroom will move from your computer to the outside. However, I would not recommend doing so, I copy the files from the computer to the external help for your operating system and when you checked the copy is ok and you've "updated the location of the folder" in Lightroom and then you can delete the folders on your computer.

Point 2: You can do manually in Lightroom using the sort options to reach the older that you want or craete a new catalog and import your current and the importing stage move files to folders by date order.

Point 3: Yes, it will be, but you won't be able to 'work' the files that are on the drive offline, unless you have generated clever insights.

  • How to get personal files on a backup external hard drive for windows 7

How to get files from a backup external hard drive for windows 7 pro. ? I DON'T WANT TO RESTORE WINDOWS 7, JUST MY PHOTOS & DOCUMENTS.    TO THANK THE TAXI 53 DRIVER

    Hello

Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft community.

Thank you for details on the issue.

You can restore backed up files lost, damaged, or accidentally modified versions. You also to restore files individual, groups of files, or all files that you have saved.

If you are restoring files from a backup that was made on another computer, the files are restored in a folder under the user name that was used to create the backup. If the user names are different, you must navigate to the folder where the files are restored.

I suggest you use the steps in this article and check if it helps.

  • How to transfer data from laptop to external hard drive?

How to transfer data from laptop to external hard drive?

    my model is vgn-cr323.

    Thanks in advance

Let me provide you with General information on how you can transfer data from your computer to an external drive.

To transfer the data, plug the USB cable into the correct port. Usually, your computer will know that he has a new disc attached and a pop box up will warn you. It will scan to determine what to do with the new connection and your computer will assign a drive letter (for example, drive G: and so on.) This will allow you to transfer data to the external hard drive just like you would move files on your internal hard drive.

Once you have the USB cable plugged into your computers port (and the other end plugs into the external drive) you can now start to save files you want on the external hard drive.

Open the item (s) or folder (s) you want to transfer or save on your external hard drive. There are two ways to save external hard disk 1). If you have only one or two things to save, you can open each item, click on file / record under... and choose the letter/drive (for example, drive G corresponding to that of your external hard drive, click Save.) This he recorded on the external hard drive.

Which folder or file not hibernation process store open files or programs on the hard drive?

    Hello

The Hiberfil.sys hidden system file is located in the folder root of the drive where the operating system is installed. The Windows Kernel Power Manager reserves this file when you install Windows. The size of this file is approximately equal to the amount of memory (RAM) is installed on the computer.

    Hi Mmstat,

I suggest following these steps below and check if this solves the problem.

    a. Open regedit by clicking on the Start button and type regedit in the search field and press to enter.
    b. navigate to the key:
    c. computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Fax
    d. click on 'ArchiveFolder' in the right pane
    e. check its content is "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\WindowsNT\MSFax".

If this is not present then change.

  • Impossible to file recovery on a SATA hard drive using a hard drive enclosure.

Removed SATA drive of doesn't have a VISTA desktop and put it in the hard disk SATA enclosure.
Joint casing hard drive on VISTA laptop to try to recover the data.
Laptop says I need to format the hard drive in the box until I can use it.

The drive is physically damaged or too damaged. You can try to connect the drive to another computer to see if the results are different. If this isn't the case, then you have the choice:

1 Hope the drive is not physically damaged and run the data recovery software. R-Studio is excellent and allows to download a demo to see what it would recover before buying.

    2. If the data is critical and money is not a factor, don't even try #1 because whenever the disk rotates, you take the chance to destroy data. Send it to a professional data recovery company. I use a Drive Savers for my clients. General prices run from $500-$ 3, 500. Investors recovered all disk data on a portable player that failed for one of my clients, and it cost $2 700. He thought that it was worth the money; only you know what's worth your data. I understand that some insurance companies now cover fresh data recovery so check with yours. • Transfer settings Outlook on a hard drive from XP to Windows 7.

My card mother XP and/or CPU crashed and I find myself trying to transfer my Outlook of the old hard disk settings to the new computer Windows 7 I bought. I can't use easy transfer because I have no way to access the XP OS on the old hard drive (forget to dual boot Win 7 - computer Dell, I bought his own ideas on this topic and Dell will not support this). I know that I can just copy the pst file but in Windows 7, appears not to load the personal file by default and I must manually open those files and cannot sync with other devices like my iPod Touch. Maybe there is a trick to install my Outlook 2003. Any suggestions?
