Access to the Web Client via API vSphere vSphere tags?

Is it possible to access vSphere client Web tags on these recent iterations of vSphere API?

Suite KB States that they are not accessible, is still valid with vCenter Server 5.5 U2?

http://KB.VMware.com/kb/2064168

It would be very useful to have access to this information for marking of VCO/VRO.

Not yet possible. Workaround is to use the powershell plugin to call cmdlets tag here.

  • Single sign-on using the Web client

    Dear all,

I improved our Vcenter server to 6.0 5.5. All right. After having access to the Web client the first time with IE11 I downloaded and installed the plugin for integration of customer. But whenever I start the web client, I can't see the link «Download the integration plugin» customer It seems that the login page does not detect the plugin of integration already installed. I checked it and the plugin for integration is really installed on the machine. It is the same when I use Firefox to access the web client. It's a machine Windows Pro 8.1

Also the tick mark 'Use windows session authentication' is grayed out. I can connect with my windows login credentials.

Is there a chance to fix it? I uninstalled the plugin for integration of client to version 5.5.

    Thank you

    Edy

  • N3048 access to the Web Interface without OOB

I recently had our switch replaced by RMA and have access to the web interface via oob. I'm not sure how to access ports and other subnets and want to access the web interface of the server room outside. It's probably something very obvious, but I don't have the original switch to check the configuration. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

You can use in-band or oob access to administration from inside or outside the server room.  The port of oob is a completely separate network used for management only, but you can also use a port in the Strip management.  By default, VLAN 1 is usually used in the Strip to transport of management traffic.  If you set an IP address on VLAN 1 you should also be able to manage from this IP address.  Measures would be to define the IP address on VLAN 1, ping ping to test connectivity, remote and then use your browser to connect to the web INTERFACE.  You should be able to use the same username/password that was used for the oob port.  Without a set of name of user and password, the web INTERFACE will not allow the session.

  • Help, I changed the password of root ESXi via powerCli, now I can not connect with the web client or the console.

    Help, I've changed the root ESXi via powerCli password, now I can not connect with the web client or the console, but I can still connect to powerCli. The command I used was;

    SE connect-VIServer esxihostname-user root - password newpasswd

This production network btw, I have connected to each host and run the above command, these ESXi hosts are not on a domain

y at - it something I have left out. I really appreciate any assistance that you people can provide.

    Thank you, Joe

It is probably a longshot, but a lot of things in the land of windows is not sensitive to capital letters as Unix is.  I wonder if your new password you put through powerCLI mixed uppercase in it and if the capitalization was abandoned by command windows powerCLI Analyzer, or he interpreted as all capitals or something.   If you can still get through the powerCLI you could try to reset the password again to something simple without capitalization mixed case and if your password on ESXi strategy requires a special character, try something different than a "$", like a "_" (I find that a '_' is less likely than some other special characters (, as a '-' or a ' / ' to cause problems with analyzers.).

    Edit:

Another thing, you can try before playing with the password once again, is to create a different username ESXi using powerCLI and see if the password ends up what you think, it should be, and if you can get with the client vsphere using it.  In this way, you can find out if there are some problems with certain characters or Cap through command powerCLI Analyzer without losing your remaining root by powerCLI access.  After some tests, you can understand what went wrong with your initial password change and may be able to fix it with less risk of losing access.  I also assume that you can not create a new username on ESXi who is able to change the root password no matter what authority give you it, otherwise, you could create a new username with PowerCLI, then connect to the client vsphere with it and change the password to root from there.

  • Why can't I see hosts/guests in my vCenter while I can see them in the Web Client vSphere?

    Hello

IM new to VmWare\PowerCLI.  The goal is to get a list of VM guests in a vCenter via PowerCLI.  I can see 80 guests when I connect via the Web Client vSphere, but when I use the PowerCLI cmdlets, a Get-VMHost returns nothing.  I did the following:

1 connect-VIServer the username-password IluvVmWare myserver.acme.com-acme\BigDog connects fine without error.

    2. $defaultviserver | Select * shows me the default connection properties.

    3 get-data center shows me 2 data centers; DC1 and DC2

    4 get-DataCenter DC1. Get-VMHost returns nothing

    5 get-VMHost returns nothing

    6 get-vmhost-Server myserver.acme.com returns nothing

What I do wrong with PowerCLI so I can't get a dump of the hosts on the vCenter?  I can see them all in the vSphere Web Client, so permissions seem fine.

    It looks like that there.

You must speak with the vCenter admin I guess.

More simple would you give permissions to view read-only on the vCenter and let this authorization to spread.

Out of curiosity, this shows the VMHostname?

    Get - VM | Select Name,@{N='VMHost'; E={$_. VMHost.Name}}

TQCallerParameter is a kind of decorator that is not exposed in the REST API. This warning message is safe and does not affect performance at all.

You don't see it during execution of the workflow of vCO customer because the customer vCO does not use the REST API and therefore does not need to run conversions Decorator.

  • vSphere SSL for the Web Client (device vCenter) certificate error

    Hello

I installed ESXi 5.5 and right once I deployed the device vCenter. After the configuration and a few reboots, I navigates to the web client, and I get this error when I try to logon:

"Based on the current configuration, the authentication server's SSL certificate was not reliable."

I have until this google everything on the subject and outside tutorials on how to change certificates in the Windows version of vCenter, nothing on the device of vCenter. I was happy when I found the 'Certificate regeneration enabled' checkbox, but that did not help either. I can test successfully SSO settings in the control panel of vCenter.

    Everyone please?

Edit: I should also mention that I am not able to connect to vCenter with the vSphere client. I get the "Cannot complete the connection by incorrect username or password". I use [email protected] as user name.

  • How to extract the selected ESXi host user name and the password in the web client of vSphere?

    Hi all.

I'm developing a plug-in for the web client to vsphere. I want to communicate with the selected host of ESXi in my Java Service Layer and who needs the host user name and password.

I don't know how to search the Flex user interface layer.

ESXi credentials are not stored in the user interface layer, you must use the vSphere SDK Web Service on the coast of java.  See vim.host.ConnectInfo.

  • Very slow performance with the Web Client vSphere

I'm testing the vSphere Web Client, but I find it excruciatingly slow - it takes almost 5 minutes just to open a session, and each click after that I take a good load of 30 seconds before the new page is completed. I think I spent a good 10 minutes to total just go to the screen where I could power on a virtual machine, which is something that can been done in less than a minute using the traditional desktop client.

    Horribly misconfigured web client somehow?

The following changes improved the performance of the web client of my client. So far, no more hung tasks, navigation in the console of the web client has been improved. We are always monitoring well.

  • Just improved 5.0 to 6.0u2 vcenter.  How do eliminate you the web client certificate error?

We were a vSphere 5.0 shop for many years and enjoyed the client c# 4.0, 4.1 and 5.0 then days.  We just upgraded 6.0 Update 2 this week and although always, we are primarally used to the c# client and will use it for a while to come, I am getting used to the web client for the new features that are available only in it, such as SRM and VR.

I was able to click through the numours of screens of reminder to get via Firefox after all these certificate warnings and even easier just click the one or two things in Chrome or IE to get in.  But how could eliminate total certificate errors?  Example, now I'm with Chrome, but the https:// in the address bar is red with a slash through it.

In most all other device based on web or connection we have, as HP iLO, Dell iDrac etc... usually, we create a CSR on this device and it present our internal Windows certificate authority and recover a file to go back to the device.  Is it possible to do this with the web client?  We have a certificate of 'Server Web 2' model that generates the sha256 return certificate and inherently all field devices to trust him because the area is important our root certificate authority.

Also, we are running services such as replication vSphere and SRM, I would not change certificate affects only or same vSphere Update Manager.  We have two sites HQ and DR.

I ended up getting rid of the cert errors by following this page: 6 replacement vSphere SSL certificate / implementation by using the Certificate Manager-automation tool

I followed the procedures for "Certificate of Machine (Reverse HTTP Proxy) replace with certificate custom" and just that.  I didin 't' t mess with root VMCA with custom signature certificate certificate because its seems to me like he wanted to do an endless number of the signature of the certificate request and keys.  But the first option considered for our internal Windows CA took care of her.

For replication of vSphere 6.1.1 that I had to turn off the virtual devices from replication via customer web vSphere vSphere and then put them back on.  Then connect to their URL of web management (port 5490) and make the reconnection to the vsphere on the connection tab, where he was invited to accept the new certificate.

For AUVS I had to run the VMwareUpdateManagerUtility.exe under C:\Program Files (x 86) \VMware\Infrastructure\Update Manager and to the third option of re - register to vCenter, and then restart the service.

Surprisingly, SRM sites remained paired although I've read that some people have trouble with it.  I'm on 6.0 update 2 and I think one of the questions was fixed in 6.0 Update 1 b.
