  I have a laptop HP Pavilion with a cracked screen. This is the second time that the screen is cracked. The first time, we had a technician HP come to the House to fix it. He seemed a bit inexperienced and nervous and had difficulty getting the display opens to pop in a new LCD. So this time I brought to Staples, where services tech guy was very helpful and was able to get the screen appeared in no harm, but now the laptop won't turn on.   What the guy from Staples also found was that the display unit plastic had taken place with electric tape (probably from the first guy that repaired a few years ago) and that in the course of the first guy prying open the screen, some internal components (he didn't say that) had gotten twisted; It is probably the culprit preventing the marketing of the laptop. I left the laptop at Staples for a few weeks, so they ordered a new "room" in the hope he get up and running. They have just called this morning to say that they had installed the new "party" but that it was not yet light. I'm going to Staples more late this afternoon to pick it up. I'm not ready to let go in the trash and want to try to send to HP in the hope that they can fix it in a factory environment. I don't know if it's still under warranty (got as a Christmas gift in 2010), but am able and willing to pay extra, even if it is not.

  I'm on the service page now, but I don't know personally make and model of the computer. I know it's a HP Pavilion Ultrabook (obviously I can't run the detection tool because I'm not on this computer). Although I don't know if Ultrabook is the term for it; When I got it, I thought it said Ultrabook, but is perhaps just a "slimline notebook" If there is such a thing. (He has a 14 "screen and no disk drive internal or a numeric keypad.) I thought small-form laptops without disk drives and keypads have been called ultrabooks but maybe I'm wrong). The search engine gives only one result for "Ultrabook" for the United States, and I know that's not my model. I know this isn't a netbook either. Is it just a laptop usually without additional equipment, then?

  TL; DR, I know, but what I am hoping is that someone can provide me with a phone number or I can call to get general support and service by mail (and maybe inform me in a way to the image of a hard drive that has to stay in the machine that cannot turn to run a backup program). If it turns out that the laptop is DOA, I'll just see if I can get the same model by Amazon (or even if I have to go through eBay - HP in their "infinite wisdom" does not provide that affordable Windows 7 models, which sucks as much as useless Microsoft replacement). Right now, I just need to get this STAT baby in intensive care.

  Without doubt, this has something to do with it too, as this user also said the display hinges have been wobbly and the computer does not. (Eventually this 'Party' the Staples guy mentioned also has something to do with the hinge, or they are two separate issues part just a coincidence).

  I tried to add a customer to the airport. It's a LaserJet 1200. But the software that comes with the JetDirect tells me to install an Airport card in the laptop.   Well again I was able to get to the stage 1.6 (in 10.5.8 printing Center is not the same). I could remove the printer that was working on its own network of HP.   Are you able to print a test page without the printer being connected to the computer?

  Print a test page to make sure that the equipment is working properly.

  1. Make sure that there is no US letter or A4 size, unused, plain paper in the input tray.

  2. Press and hold the power button / , then press the Cancel button .

  3. Release the button cancel, then the power button.

     The test page will print.

  Press the Windows key, type in "Device Manager" without the quotes and the Device Manager select from the list that appears, or press ENTER.

  In the window that appears, find graphics card and press the sign more or arrow to the left of it. It should fall down the name of the video card you have.

  Have you tried to leave the empty ' administrator' password?  The default value of the administrator is empty.  If it is not empty then you set, either intentionally, or by an action in the process of setting up fingerprints.

  If an empty password does not work - and none of the passwords that you remember entering while you were trying to configure the fingerprint system works - then although there is a way to 'reset the windows administrator password', I'm not allowed to tell you how to do it according to the rules of Microsoft for these forums.

  Just be aware that if you do not reset a Windows password, you will lose all files in this account that have been encrypted with the EFS in Windows file system (unless you have backup for that identifying information).

  Insert the memory card into the correct location on the media player...
  If open windows... Close them.

  When the card is inserted... If you go to... Start / computer... is
  player card on one or several removable disks?

  Removable (e :)) drive
  Removable disk (e :))
  Removable drive (g)

  If_Yes_you can download the files from here. Left click
  the drive letter that corresponds to the SD card slot should
  display the directory of the card and you can copy and paste or
  Drag and drop the files of your choice in a folder on your hard drive
  drive.

  Just click with the right button on a group of selected files and choose... Copy...
  then navigate to the folder that you want, and then right-click the
  folder and choose Paste.
