  I recommend you perform the clean boot.

  You can try the following and link methods under each method for more information on the same and see if one of them solve the problem.

  Method 1: Start the computer in last good known Configuration

   

  1. Remove all floppy disks, CDs and DVDs from your computer and restart your computer.

  Click the button start , click the arrow next to the button lock , then click on restart.

  1. Do one of the following:

  ·         If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then stop and restart your computer.

  ·         If your computer has more than one operating system, use the arrow keys to select the operating system you want to start, and then press F8.

  1. In the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to select last good known Configuration and press ENTER.

  No - what are the two Acers come with a recovery disk?

  If this is not the case, one of them would have a recovery partion, which specifically is to reinstall the operating system on it.

  With an Acer, you press Alt + F10 at startup to start the recovery process.

  All data are lost when you do the above.

  And for the lost disc, contact Acer and ask them to send you recovery disks.

  My roommates son asked me to help him to be on the internet, which I did, ran unusually slow in doing so, I noticed it when I checked, I found that the notebook had three solutions of different software protection, antivirus, Norton, McAffrey and AVG 2011 version for free. Also I noticed he had some solutions that provided a diagnosis, list of problems found and wanted to pay for the product before they would allow acccess to the fix. I uninstalled Norton and the McAffrey and improved the AVG free version of 2012. I also uninstalled the pesky diagnosis/buy me for the correction and the ask.com toolbar software. I installed ccleaner from piriform as well. The laptop seems to run a little faster, but the next morning he projected blue and when I tried to start it in safe mode it not loaded so far and then frozen, always in the same spot something AVGi and then it crashes, it will not load the rest of the necessary drivers. I tried to boot to the last known good as well.   Hi, I have an Acer laptop Aspire with Vista Home Basic Edition that came pre-installed, so no records only the disk hard drive partition.

  I turned on my laptop today and it starts but the loading bar of stalls at the black screen with "(c) Microsoft Corporation" and dragging green. The slide bar will continue to drag, but nothing else happens which means that I understand even as much as the login screen. I rebooted and tried Windows recovery, but the only remedy to what he suggests is a restoration of the system, which does not have any point, I try to restore it.

  To remedy this, I have connected in safe mode and ran the SFC command prompt. It scans my system and told to find corrupted files, but he can't heal some. This is where my knowledge limit runs out.
